    I’ve experienced the ‘stick in spokes’ with the Naish gear I used to ride. Never knew exactly what was causing it. The Naish stuff was beyond wobbly too. Now I’m riding HA & MA on the 795, it’s all buttery smooth with a confidence inspiring solid feel in everything from everyday short period wind swell to sizable well overhead ground swell. And in turbulent conditions too.
    Just ordered their shortest one, the 655 and a HS series for when the foil park is set to ‘small and low tide’ mode…
    can’t wait 😊

    Its pretty fascinating all the work that Armstrong puts into their gear that no other brand does. I also appreciate that they test in different water temps too, as colder water reacts much different than warm water. The sit down foil guys figured that out years ago, glad to see it and stoked to get on the new gear and push my progression!

      Says who? I think most brands puts tons of work in the product. I think North. I think F-One. Testing for them takes ridiculous amount of time

      Says who? Says me. lol. I find it fascinating. AF makes one change per prototype, I don't think any other brands are setup with the in house manufacturing and qc like that with the a ability to test right out the back door. If North and F-One were making that many prototypes, I'm sure their giant marketing teams would be shouting it from the hilltops...@@stefanog3035

    That wing! 😮

    Hi Matt,
    Thanks for all these interesting videos. I am still beginner in wing foiling and I have an Armstrong kit with the CF2400V2 and HS1550V2 . I am foiling on a lake and the wind is not strong. I need a big board to reach the foiling speed (100L was not enough so I now have a 130L with wider footprint and this made everything much more easier).
    1 topic from this video is about the 1degree rake on the mast so that the wing is flatter (pre-foiling speed) to reduce drag and attain foiling speed more easily.
    Here is my question. I am wondering if I should shim my mast to get this 1 degree (to imitate the high performance mast) and get less drag in pre-foiling speed. However, when I think about the felt like material found at the top of the mast, this one gives in and compresses more on the front and I believe this gives an incline quite close to 1 degree in the direction to augment the grad (still for pre-foiling). I am considering to remove this felt-like material and replace it by a hard plastic shim. What are your thoughts on this?
    Thanks,

    Apparently there's a change in the angles (reason why it is recommended to set up the mast 2 cm back, when compared to the regular mast). What about SHIMS? What are the recommendations now? (I do tow-in and I my set up is HA725 + HA195 + 60 fuselage). I just picked up a 935 and can't wait to try!

    Do you find the new mast rake means you're moving the plate forward in the box?

  • @martinomovies

    I got the Axis HM mast and I couldn’t tell the difference … until I went back to the Aluminum mast with the huge 1310 (2100 sq cm). So wobbly. I could barely balance.

    If using a 1525 in light air on small waves/wind chop do you think 795 since conditions are small and less take off drag or 935 for turning because foil is so wide? Thanks!

    • @REALmattnuzzo
      @REALmattnuzzo Год назад +1

      795 will be easier for take off in low winds for sure. The 1525 you can breach and not ventilate so if light air is the goal then the 795 would be the size. You will get more turning range with the 935. Get the one you will use more and with more wings. These Performance masts really light up the big HA foils.

      Everything Armstrong makes is forward and backward compatible. The original fuse with the metal shim and the A+ fuse work on the Performance Mast.

    What’s the reasoning behind the new mast lengths? Curious as to why they are all different to our existing Armie ones

    • @REALmattnuzzo
      @REALmattnuzzo Год назад +1

      They are more efficient and have less drag so you can ride longer length masts with the same amount of drag. This gives high performance riders more room to work with.

    The superlatives are nice but also not that informative. It would be nice if someone actually published some measurements on these new high modulus masts, like bending stiffness, torsional stiffness, and minimum thickness so we can get some feel of how these compare to older models and other brands. RRD actually publishes these numbers on their website, along with their measurement method.

    So Matt, care to comment on that wing with hard handles ????

    • @REALmattnuzzo
      @REALmattnuzzo Год назад

      Sure. They are proto Armstrong wings. Tried a bunch of versions with a variety of handles. Very interesting wing with some amazing attributes and some stuff that still needs to be sorted out. With Armstrong you never know when they will be released as the design process is focused on making them right and not for a specific calendar timeline. So far they are off to a hot start with this one. Been loving it.
