Wow this video found its way back to me. Since then, I’ve gotten puppy and she’s the most impolite little miss I’ve ever met. She thinks me doing yoga at home is an invitation to play and chew on me 😳😂
😂 bruh, I was considering throwing my old stability ball when I saw this. It's gone 🤭 now, but it took me a few seconds to realise no one was talking to me 😅
Oh Charlie, to use a much over used phrase, "the body is willing, but the flesh is weak". Since watching you and following your practices both my technique and strength have improved. Additionally, I find I have a more positive attitude, important as a sixty nine year old widower. But happily, if if I do not quite manage to replicate your positions exactly I always feel a sense of achievement at the end. Thank you.
Step#1 I gotta figure out how to do the basic version of all of those first lol😂 Actually enjoyed (not tried) yoga for the very first time via one of you videos this week. I thought I hated yoga, but your video made me genuinely want to give it another shot.
I think you lead some of the best Asana on YT. You remind me of the teachers that made yoga so engaging, years ago. ...so one thing I've struggled to get is hip mobility. I'm a pretty strong, tall guy, and my pigeon has hardly progressed. If you have any tips, one of your YT shorts would be awesome.
I hope it wouldn’t sound rude but I finally find a yoga youtuber who has comparably shorter arms and legs. Coz I have short arms and legs and sometimes I found it so difficult to perform in some poses. You make me trust myself again that I can do it!
Hey I don’t take offence at all. I know how comforting it can be to see someone with a similar body, I get it all the time when I see petite women and I’m like if they can do it I can too.
I have it the other way around! I am really tall, especially my legs. And for some step through stuff I notice that I have too much limp for the amount of space it needs to move through haha. Every body has some perks and challenges in yoga :).
Love these short little instruction videos! So well explained! ❤ Curious about one thing I noticed (English is not my first language): why do you always say forwards (with an s at the end??) Isn’t it stepping forward - no s?
I honestly can't figure out how one could possibly do these positions without engaging the muscles to their right and tight placement. How can you be "passive" without falling on your face?
Please be careful not to hold Yoga posses for too long as holding isometric contractions for more than 30 seconds will shorten your muscles while elongating your tendons and cause repetitive strain injury. What i do when performing Yoga is move around slowly in a fluid dynamic nature that stretches my muscles.
Hi Charlie! I was wondering if it’s possible to build muscles and improve strenght without going to the gym and lift weights? Only by doing pilates and yoga? Do you lift weights too?☺️
Hey I can only speak from my own experience, I have never lifted weights and I have built a lot of strength through yoga so to answer your question yes you can build strength with yoga.
@@CharlieFollows Thank you for your response! I really appreciate it since I've previously trained a lot at the gym but never really found it genuinely enjoyable. However, I find yoga training genuinely enjoyable and fulfilling, but I've been hesitant because I've wanted to build muscles and strength. But I believe, just as you say, that it's entirely possible. I'm actually thinking of buying your 'yoga strong' classes. I'm really excited! You're an incredibly inspiring teacher!😊🙏🏼
Mat time, not ball time Finn! Hi Charlie, I do most of these step ups, however recently a new instructor had me arrive in a squat on one foot (other leg outstretched) and then we transitioned to the other foot. I had to use my hands and the thought of lifting across seems so unobtainable that I haven’t tried. (I am an old dude with a torn meniscus). Can you suggest strengthening exercises I could do to build my strength and confidence with the aim to achieve this transition? Horse stance? Modified pistol stance or something?
@@earel93 No. My legs simply disobey me at around 90° bend, without feeling any pain or tension. I can only go down if I use my hands to lower my weight and then the heel of my foot goes a bit up. This concerns only cossack squat and pistol squat. I can do regular squats, though my form leaves a lot room for improvement...
"Instead of hanging out passively in poses... " It's not passivity, it's yin. It's the strength that comes from control. You don't have to add yang with these moves. Surya Namaskar is a balance of yin and yang and both are already in place.
I think this is a case of “For lack of a better term” or “semantics” situation, she’s trying to describe an idea with the vocabulary available to her, someone’s idea of passivity is not the same as anothers idea of passivity, but might be used in different contexts depending on the subject they’re trying to elaborate on, and in this case she’s focusing on building physical strength. She’s not so much talking about whether yin or yang represent true yoga. Most western people don’t view yoga as a spiritual experience/practice, they see it as a practical physical practice to engage their muscles and ease their mind, so they don’t really grasp the depth of say for instance Surya Namaskar, this video is aimed at those westerners otherwise she wouldn’t be adding to something that like you said doesn’t need adding.
I love how so many yoga instructors on yt have pets that are constantly trying to love on them! It’s so cute!

THROW THE DAMN BALL!!!!
Ahahaha I promise I did
😂 bruh, I was considering throwing my old stability ball when I saw this.
It's gone 🤭 now, but it took me a few seconds to realise no one was talking to me 😅
Ahahaha that part of the video was so cute
Seriously that was bothering me too
You must be a dog mom 🥰✨
Charlie’s strength and body control is always amazingly impressive.

Awe thank you so much. I’m trying my best to offer progressions for each pose in every class so there’s something for everyone.

i have two Airedale's. i have to lock myself in my room to get anything done. needless to say, i don't get much done. they're the best. ❤️
Thank you for these tips! Constantly trying to find ways to build strength from yoga- flexibility is a side effect 😊

I need this mat
Thanks 🙏
The last one: 😳 something to aspire too, balance is the deepest struggle in my practice ☺️
Great ideas
You build you body through yoga or by gym
Where did you get your mat?
It's from liforme

That dog is 😂 so cute
Super yoga
Aren't our hip flexors overworked from all the sitting in a chair etc.?
Great modifications though, I will definitely implement the ones I'm able to!
As I feel, they may be shortened, but definitely not strong. So stretching and strengthening, both are really good
Like you don't use them in your daily life. Try to hold your leg as Charlie does, for me it's impossible

Some if these are so so hard for me because i have tight hamstrings and a bad knee 😩
PLAY with the best boi! eff yoga! get your priorities straight
Cute dog... it does not care about yoga, he only wants the ball 😂😂😂
That one pose made me think of people who fall of buildings 😂
very good tips
Can someone please tell me why I can't go down into a Cossack squat despite having sufficient mobility when it comes to passive stretches?
Do you fall backwards? Try it with a small weight in front as counterbalance
@@earel93 No. My legs simply disobey me at around 90° bend, without feeling any pain or tension. I can only go down if I use my hands to lower my weight and then the heel of my foot goes a bit up. This concerns only cossack squat and pistol squat.

Nice❤

Yeah but the question is how to gain strength in these poses. Yin doesn’t build strength

Yoga is not for building strength, it is for building mindfulness
I can't even do the easy ones yet! 😖
