They killed this version so hard! Clint has a great voice. That's why this band is so great. Everyone gets to sing that can sing.
Have you heard his his brothers band Stuck Mojo?
Maybe not brother but def relative
From Atlanta GA

I feel like this is the perfect middle ground between Cash’s and NIN’s version. All three are amazing in each their way, but this will probably stay my favorite.
It’s definitely the version I resonate with the most.
Agreed, except for the fact that Clint fucked up the lyrics twice.
@@LilMac0025 It was clearly an intentional change to the original lyrics.
@@humptydumpty3047the “crown of thorns” line, clearly - because that’s what Johnny Cash changed it to for his cover of the NIN version….
I’m on the fence about the other two times sounding intentional…. I don’t know, maybe you’re right. But it didn’t sound like it at first listen. Just sounded like he didn’t have the lyrics correct.
Aaron Lewis of Staind has been known to do this when covering other people’s music because he just doesn’t know the correct lyrics as far as I can tell 😂👍🏼
Holy shit!! This whole time I thought it was the lead singer singing this man! Well done brother! Amazing voice.
Me too 😂.. so very cool it's the guitarist singing.
clint's voice is so damn amazing🤘🏻
My boy Clint forever putting in work!
It’s cool to see the original lineup still together after all these years
With the utmost respect!!! Not once have I seen Clint's name being credited for this cover. 🤘💜
No one named Clint wrote the song, it was written by Trent Reznor of Nine inch Nails
@@elijahtxt2334 that's why she said credited for the cover, not the song. I'd argue Clint sang it better than Trent anyways. Hell even cashs version was better than NINs
Clint's voice is so inspiring
@@Boogerslov cash is garbage fuckoff
@@Boogerslov also it didnt say cover when I wrote that comment it was edited because i said that.....
The best cover of a cover ever recorded in my opinion. I love each individual version they're all great on their own, I just think that this one stands out among them, and Sevendust is one of my top 5 favorite bands of all time, probably too 3 if I'm being honest. There's not a month that goes by that for at least a week I'm listening to one of their albums.
Their acoustic tour was something special. This band is an amazing band, has been from the beginning. Still one of my favorites
One of my favs as well. But I will say animosity was their best album and nothing's come close to it since
@@chronnx the one after that, can't remember the album title, was imo their last great album. I listen to their earlier album all the time but don't care for their newer stuff.
@@TheCircuitGeek the album after animosity was their last good one for sure.
These guys are great
Let me just say that I am old....old enough to have been in my late teens when 1990 came calling. This is my favorite version of this song but all of them are awesome!
I have you by 2 years
Agreed!! It so strong you can cry!!
I came to this video because of your comment on the tribal people react to the cash version
This and Bruce singing purple rain are amazing but this version of hurt, stands alone.
Hope you are doing well.
Morgan Rose drumming never ceases to amaze me.My fav drummer EVER!!!
3 versions of this song in my lifetime at 39 years old and each version has a different effect on me.
Out of the few covers this version is my favorite he nailed it 110 percent
This Is Timeless!!!
This is by far the best version.
Lol
Best version of this song in my opinion
This band is so underrated its fucking illegal, like Nuremburg trials illegal. Clint's voice has so much power and soul, in my opinion this is the best version of hurt, with much respect to Cash and Reznor, but still, this one has so much soul.
Best cover I’ve ever heard of this song.
I saw them in a TINY place called The Chance Theater in Poughkeepsie, NY. They played so freakin loud, when the bass notes hit my chest, I felt each one pounding it. I never felt so alive. 🤘🤘
Saw them there myself couple years ago. Still got the ticket.
Best version of this song PERIOD! ❤
Still truly believe this is the best cover of this song. All of them Are good but this is my favorite
I am yet to find a version of this song that isn't amazing in itself. In my span of 38 years on this marble the original Hurt by NiN still ranks in the top 10 songs ever. It is timeless, and for that it is priceless.
Such perfect lyrics and emotion. You can't sing this song and not feel the emotion behind its creation. The lyrics are perfect for telling a story.
Benjamin Lane.. oh brother...please stop trying to sound like a philosopher...it's a good song...no reason to make ur comment sound like a Bible passage...I mean if that's how you talk have at it but I highly doubt that's the situation
I've always said NIN makes you see the hurt Johnny Cash makes you feel the hurt Sevendust makes you hopefully the hurt will go away
@@horror_fam0847 nice
@@IamRaloPib Yes, we philosopher and Bible scribe types ALWAYS spend our days listening to Nine Inch Nails songs, dontyaknow?! Ever read the lyrics to Wish by NiN? Love it. Philosophically, I would say that Hurt (and other Reznor songs) help me empathize with the true pain of others. Cash's version is so powerful it is hard NOT to feel it. Sevendust (and many other NiN songs) help me to snap back out of that pain-induced emotional coma. For while it may be a nice place to visit, it is most definitely not a nice place to live. Stay too long and you wind up like kurt Cobain or Chester Bennington or countless others. Pain, suffering, and the necessary emergence from that dark place is perhaps the most important thing we humans can learn. Now THAT is some philosophical shit, my friend, and if you cannot understand it then perhaps you need to put Hurt (Cash's version) on repeat until you do....the video version of it. Read the back story of how the video came to be and what it represented to Cash himself. It is far more powerful than anything I have found in the Bible.
the drums especially made this cover awesome!!
The bass for me!
Morgan ❤️🖤
Right in the feels
Drummer is on POINT!
Beautiful Beautiful Song 🔥
In love for this music, this version it’s amazing, I feel it in my soul.
Good God sevendust is such a bad ass band .. even as much as all their metal music sounds awesome, their acoustic stuff is so deep
Good cover. Thanks Trent for giving this song to the world for so many to make it their own.
Hell yeah
I’ve watched this so many times since finding it, I love this version so much
youtube don't recommend it, it's not time yet, so I remembered good ol times and found it myself
thia deserves more views.
My favorite version yet !! AWESOME!!
Love these guys
im in love with this
thia deserves more views.
im in love with this
Best version!. Have it on cd. I remember... Songs are always best when sung with emotion 👍🏼
I remember buying Southside Double wide with the DVD and showing it to all my friends and eventual bandmates. This is the first song I tried to learn on guitar. I failed. I thought it was just a tough song to play. Nope, I just suck at guitar so I moved to vocals. Turns out I'm good at that. Ha.
Impressive. Most impressive.
You'll find I'm full of surprises
Underrated af
love it
Still the best version. RIP JC
Fucking perfect!
awesome cover !
2019 and for the rest of my life.
yooo
LOVE this version
I'm just getting into sevendust so forgive me if this is common for them but it's cool that Kajon can take a back seat and let his bandmate shine even for just one song. True frontman energy from Kajon and Clint.
I'd let that go as just a typo, but you did it twice.
I tought it was Lajon's voice, untill i found this video
Same here. I never knew. Always just heard the song never seen it
Best cover besides nine inch nails, it became Johnny's song the day he decided to make it. r.i.p cash
Trent reznor nine inch nails . Johnny cash covered it sir
@@radipern he knows, I think it’s playing off of Trent saying something to the effect of “the song isn’t mine anymore” as a complement to Johnny’s cover
I felt this blew mine inch nails away
2020 🤘🏻❤️🤘🏻❤️🤘🏻❤️
This is and always will be the best version of this song. Sorry Trent and Cash.
True and agreed
Well, nothing can beat Trent/Bowie doing it together... sorry
Only 106 thousand views, that’s a crime.
great singer too
Am I the only one who noticed that Clint fucked up the lyrics twice?
Other than that, great cover.
….I still shake my head though when Lajon says, “Johnny Cash, y’all, Johnny Cash.” Yes, I’m sure they were covering Cash’s cover and pretty sure this was right around the time he had died….
But, dammit, this is a NIN song that Cash covered and that just adds to the number of people who think this is Cash’s song….
Wow
Great cover, no one can touch Johnny Cash's version as he adds real emotions but this is just as good, the drums made it brilliant and adds more to this cover, great work guys!
+Cerray Cobb NIN
its 2017 and people still think J cash wrote a masterpiece called "hurt" SMH
Right, real emotions. Like the original creater's of the song and any others covering it had none.
trent even admits Johnny's is better...
@@bryanfranklin2866 that wasn't exactly what he said. Frankly I hate Cash's version, but that's more that I just don't like Johnny Cash. Hell of a musician, but I just didn't like his voice.
I NEVER KNEW "HURT" STARTED OFF AS A 9 INCH NAILS SONG!
Anyone know how to play the lead for this version?
What's the tuning on this for guitar?
C#-G#-C#-F#-B-C#
Every time I hear this song, without the loud NIN ending, it is just so jarring to me. I grew up with that song having that power ending and so w/out it, it just feels wrong somehow. Maybe it's just me.
Great Cover if a Nine Inch Nails song (I honest dont think they know this) Johnny Cash yea!
they know. This was a tribute to Johnny Cash's version due to his death
Im feeling this... 😢 its so hurt but i wanna hurt
Please make this a recorded non live version man too good to just be live 💯🥲
This is one of the best covers. Not a Johnny cash song but Trent reznors
Clint Lowery folks
I just like to think of drummer nowadays Morgan rose 2024, god why you put me thru troubles during my early thirties?
What’s the tuning of this one? It’s not in standard
C# G# C# F# B C#
NIN Trent always will was and always will be nobody comes close. Cash came the closest. Nobody has the pain feeling soul anymore in there tunes.
To the idiots griping about the voice yelling its Lajon!! Gotta problem with Lj or what???
What year is this from?
2003 or 2004. Can't remember off the top of my head
toto africa
Oh by the way, that's the guitar player doing the heavy lifting on the vocals for this one. Lol
I say that because the actual singer for 7D, Lajon Witherspoon, is a fantastic singer and just an incredible frontman, but Clint really held his own on this cover. If I was Lajon, I'd be nervous about Clint taking my job. Lmao
And the deck collapsed lol
Of all the suberb songs Johnny Cash wrote since the 50s, they dedicated a nine inch nails song to him???
marvel
Why sing this song for him? Why not an original Johnny Cash song?
larray
Yes no offense, that’s right. Rip hell
His vocal is better than Cash’s. But, like Cash’s, this is such a radio-friendly campfire-version of the song.
Just fine lol
I know it’s dedicated to Johnny Cash. I wonder if they know the original is NIN.
They do. They performed this either the day Cash passed or the day after. Cant remember.
This was the day of his death, and as you can tell they're playing the NIN version
judge judy
I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything
What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liars chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stains of time
The feelings disappear
You are someone else
I am still right here
What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
If I could start again
A million miles away
I will keep myself
I would find a way
Cool terminator icon
No one should comment in this video
Enjoy it.
🤣🤣🤣🍄🍄🍟🍯🔪
I really love how he sings this, but the 2 points he gets the lyrics wrong always annoys me.
Love this version til he screwed up the lyrics. Its “you are someone else. I am still right here”.
But Johnny cash didn't write this song ?
Who keeps talking on the singer? That would piss me off.
Lajon, The actual lead singer of the band......
He's just tryna hype the crowd up, but if I were him, I'd sit back and let Clint sing it out, it's just that type of song that needs it
Please teach your children that drugs and alcohol can completely destroy their lives.
🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🙄🙄🙄
This is why you don’t let the guitarist sing. He flubs the lyrics lol.
alexandria ocasio-cortez
Nine inch nails song why people sing it all the time is boycotting just like cash
I don't think you know what boycotting means... And people cover it because it's a great song, to have legends like Cash and Bowie cover your song is the ultimate sign of respect for your music.
Well they did say it was a dedication...what's wrong with dedicating a song?
Bullshit Omg!!!!!
LOL at dedicating a NiN song to Johnny Cash. Yeah sure he covered it, really well, but I bet they didn’t know any other Cash song hahaha
I never liked Cash, but even Trent said he thought that this became a Johnny Cash song after his cover.
So right....or any other NIN either. #1990's
Was it not dedicated to him shortly after his death?
This was shortly after Johnny Cash died.
Sorry but you fucked up the words!!!!!!!
But nine inch nails made the song 🤔🤦🏽♂️
Oscar Carlot Asilis it must have been taped after cash died
But Johnny covered it and passed away. They covered his version to pay respect.
Wrong
What the hell! Destroyed a fucking good music, oh my god!
Stick to playing guitar
