@mysteryman5826 the council or the business can implement changes such as limiting the size of vehicles. Therefore, they are the ones with the resources to fix the problem long-term to prevent re-ocurences.
I got flashed quite a few times by car drivers who then moved forward narrowing the gap. It's so frustrating and makes you wonder how they passed their test
Man that looks quite stressful. As you said, modern housing estates are designed very poorly with emphasis on cramming as many houses or flats to make a much money as possibly possible! No thought to logistics and the amount of farmland disapearing under asphalt and concrete and drains not kept clear is no wonder flooding is such an issue.
Some companies have branches in really stupid locations , that was one of them , totally unsuitable for HGV's yet they order stuff in such quantities that Class 1's are the only vehicles that can carry such quantities , it's crazy.
They won't order small quantities because it isn't economic. It's really only fuel deliveries where they have no option other than to pay more to have a small vehicle deliver a small quantity. That pothole is soon going to start costing a lot of damage! I agree modern housing estates are planned with stupidly narrow roads that proper size trucks can't fit; then when the people move in they find there's no visitor parking on the street for their £400,000 new home. 18" wider would have solved it.
Nice that you men mentioned other drivers skill sets & then displayed excellent reversing drills on that dirty muddy site. You seem oblivious to the stress levels of driving....!
Everyone’s at different levels mate. Me personally I love reversing. I do find it easy. But that doesn’t mean I’m the best driver out there. I’ve hit plenty of things too 😂
Most of these businesses (or other businesses) were there long before the houses, in a lot of cases the houses were built for the workers. People buy these houses knowing those businesses are there and still complain when trucks turn up. It’s like people who buy houses near an airport and then complain because there is so many planes flying in and out. People normally know what is around the area, or at least they should. As a pallet network delivery driver, on an artic, I had many deliveries like that. NIGHTMARE!! Thankfully I’m done with it now.
Another good video mate, hope your street was all good from flooding, what’s nice though about adult with child giving a wave to HGV drivers it does make our day better plus they do horn signals

Hi Luke. Just started watching your video, and I've seen my most "must have" Jaguar that I've always wanted to own. Its when you turn right then having to back up. Before backing up, there seems to be a garage in front of you, and that's where the Jag is. Its one of those Inspector Morse Jags. I would so love to own one. Never apologise for doing your job. You were asked to deliver, you've done your best to park up. The company who ordered the load should have better skills at timing, and making the freight company aware that they must adhere to the times, and not to arrive early, and also as soon as a lorry does turn up, to unload as quickly as possible. I would also suggest that if your bumper is damaged attempting to get unloaded, I would send the bill to that company because of the state of the road causing it. Personally, you did the correct thing, backing in. Its always easier to leave moving forward. What I am totally surprised about is that the person at the start sold her house🤣🤣🤣. Just watching you on the new site. Am I correct that with new builds, there is hardly any frontage anymore?
What a nightmare for the people who live there. Which was there first, the houses or the business? But whichever way, its a total failure of council planning to allow that to happen. Why did the planning permission allow the business there without adequate access? Or why did the planning permission allow houses to be built without maintaining adequate access to the business? One of them came second, and obviously shouldn't have been allowed without appropriate access. In the current situation, it could at least be mitigated by having an agreed staging point away from the business where trucks park, and are then called in when they are ready, so at least there is only one truck going in and out at a time, it's not complicated.
I work for a steel firm and deliver mainly to new housing estates and big construction sites.. a problem I always find is they made the roads on sites and gates etc so bloody tight knowing full well they will have lorrys in and out of there all day. Winds me bloody up!

Do me a favour sunshine if you want to have a discussion with me let’s have it on one thread and not multiple threads. You’re saying I can’t park on the pavement, okay? Then I will have to block the entire road. And yes, if I have to do that then so be it, I’ll say that as a professional. Instead I go a little bit on the pavement to allow traffic to flow whilst still allowing pedestrians to go on the path. If they need any help, I am more than happy to move/assist. I’m not sure why you’re trying to cause an argument here. End of the day, all I’m trying to do is my job . Why are you trying to make it more difficult?
@@lukecinahgv I respect your replying mate .. but my point was that you can’t pick and choose what rules to obey and ignore. Bit of advice though… if ever someone has to go onto the highway to get past your vehicle .. do not provide assistance because if you do then you are accepting responsibility for anything that happens to them and leaving yourself open to a damages claim and also legally admitting that you’re causing an obstruction. Just another trucker sharing an experience is all.
@Sunshinesmuse so what would you have done in this instance? Would you have refused the delivery? Because I had to park on the path to allow vehicles to pass. Do you think I would be in a job for long if I kept doing that every time? Let’s not forget, I don’t do this job for the sake of it. I do it because it provides an income for my family. By refusing deliveries I’m risking losing my job, therefore not bringing in an income in for my kids. Just because I had to park on the pavement slightly. As I said, if anybody asked me to move, I would’ve moved. The vehicle was not left unattended at any point. I was trying to be safe as possible for all road users, including myself. Yes, I do pick and choose because sometimes there has to be a little bit of leeway. I 100% guarantee that some police officers will let someone off with a verbal warning and another person will be given a fine for the exact same offence. Why? Because there is leeway.
Haulage companies should say to these firms sorry we cant deliver uts not suitable. Eventually these companies should think about where they locate. A comoany i know stopped deliering to a caroet shop as it was vasically on a roundabout and thete was nowhere remotely suitable to stop to deliver The shop ended up getting a shipping container where we delivered to instead So glad our company refused to deliver to the shop rather than bending over and screwing the driver
Oh wow someone with some common sense finally! thank you! it is just not acceptable to say I am only doing my job or that is what my boss says, when that is breaking the law and putting people at risk

I've seen a couple of new estates where the entire road network is single lane with passing places (alternating priority just to keep it interesting) as well as being twisty. Very amusing watching some of the Kodiaq/XC60/Q5 drivers who think they need a STGO and police escort to drive their car through them 🤦
You’d think the local authority would have made these companies move out of these kinds of disruptive locations. I mean it’s 2024, we’re not having goods delivered by horse and cart any more. I once delivered to a builder merchant in Kent that was similar to this, and a logistics warehouse in Brighton, stuck slap in the middle of a residential area.
You'd also think given the information avaliable to everyone these days (google maps etc), that responsible hauliers would refuse to send in large vehicles when the same job could be done with a couple of smaller vehicles. I guess they would not win many contracts that way though so until people die, keep sending them in.
@@pops5675 I think it's more of an economic matter of sending lots of vehicles vs one type of deal unfortunately. But yeah this as well, hauliers just wanting to scrape up money from anywhere
The kerbs are not high, they dont put the top layer of tarmac on till they have finished, that way the surface layer isnt chewed up by heavy or tracked vehicles.
@@lukecinahgv All warehouse aprons are made with concrete rather than tarmac which is more hardwearing and wont be chewed up by dry steering, your first drop off makes it much worse for everyone by dicking around rather than gettting you tipped quick, good job the locals havent noticed no number plate on the forklift they are using on a public highway.
Places like that are an absolute disgrace. They shouldn't be allowed to open businesses that have constant HGV traffic having to get to them, it's a joke. They are bad enough in a Class 2 never mind you Class 1 drivers having to get into them.Unecessary stress on the drivers and locals too.

DONT want go to SYDHAMS BATH BA2 , ODD DOWN DEPOT . Struggle with 7.5/ 18tonner never mind arctic . IN side road reverse down between houses AWKward parking on junction with yard .
I use a powered wheelchair and, as far as I'm concerned, there is no excuse for car and van drivers blocking footpaths and forcing me onto the road, but I understand that it may be unavoidable for HGV drivers, so either I sit and wait, or if they're there a long time, I put my hazard lights on and go on the road, and traffic has to make room for me, and I really don't care if drivers swear at me.
If you were on this street when I was there, I first would of asked if you needed help getting round safely, if you asked if I could move the truck then I absolutely would move the truck for you. I’m not doing it on purpose and If I can help you I would
@@lukecinahgvlove the way you say " you're not doing it on purpose" I've retired after 40 years class 1 , done places as tight as this , (if not tighter,) and I'm certain people think we're just out on a jolly , or a 40 tonne truck is our family runaround and block the road just to annoy them , so pleased I'm out of it now . Good luck 👍
Companies with premises in such stupid places should be obliged to pay for all their deliveries to be made by 7.5t trucks. HGV drivers shouldn't be expected to endure such stress!
Luke you’re looking well mate you’ve lost weight again and look so much better for it Did that green and red truck unload himself ? He seemed to go straight in Great video thanks for the wonderful content Luke ❤
compound for the bricks / blocks very poor , should have sorted that out before they started building , having driven a tele handler on sites for 30 years , i would like to think it would be a 20/ 30 minute un load time , total agreement with you on the roads in and out of site , no thought on how the hell an artic is going to get in .
New trucker here so purely a question to try and learn; on the second to last load with the bulk bags why was it safe to strap every other line of bulk bags - I had always assumed each row would need a strap?
The net is also securing. Think of just the one bag in the middle and the two wide I’d be strapped down if the truck is tipped upside down that middle bag isn’t coming out. It’s being held in place by the two either side pulling down. Will DVSA have somthing different to say? Probably. But I go by what I think is safe and if I’m pulled for it, I’ll pay the fine. I’m in a position whereby I’d simply make a video about it and the video will make 10x the amount the fine is. End of the day, I feel it was safe so there how I do it mate :)
I used to work for Keedwells. Bloody nightmare. They are forever pushing you against your time. Don’t care about roadworks basically expect you to fly. Feel for that driver
Jesus H Christ imagine living in one of those houses when you have trucks parking outside your house 10ft away blocking everything omg what a nightmare I'd never live there.
I think everyone should be made take a lesson in a HGV and a combine harvester before getting a car license so they know how much room they need, they would not moan about them
The big business and hgv business , over the years hgvs have got larger , longer , heaver , etc , the road system has not changed , time the haulage industry sent in smaller units in to known small tight areas , the damage to the road system ,and the number of hgvs which are to large for the road system ,
Probably find that the Industrial area ws there first before the housing estate was, and they added the estate afterwards with no consideration of artics coming in
There is a reason why HGV's refuse delivering in tiny villages because the narrow roads were only designed for horse and carriage size. You would need a banksman with you?

Great video mate, your doing a grand job. Keep up the good driving job
Great vid mate so easy with a semi not so easy with a dolly . Best wishes from N Z 😊
Nice ride Luke get it custom remapped lol
Haulage companies should say to these firms sorry we cant deliver uts not suitable.
Eventually these companies should think about where they locate.
A comoany i know stopped deliering to a caroet shop as it was vasically on a roundabout and thete was nowhere remotely suitable to stop to deliver
The shop ended up getting a shipping container where we delivered to instead
So glad our company refused to deliver to the shop rather than bending over and screwing the driver
Oh wow someone with some common sense finally! thank you! it is just not acceptable to say I am only doing my job or that is what my boss says, when that is breaking the law and putting people at risk
honestly where some of these companies chose to operate then have arctics and multiple arctics making deliveries should be put to an end. had my first experience in that sorta situation last week. livid. and no reason for it.
Yeah I mean it’s water of a ducks back to me. Nothing I can’t handle but I have been in tricky situations before. So i totally get it.
@@lukecinahgv just do what ya gota do. I was just extra uncomfortable as agency have me on class 2 stuff a lot atm and i just wana be back in class 1. don't like the ridged at all. but now my licence is finally 1 year old so heres to applying to everything again
Why is it that the driver has to do everything. Why can't the hardware shop buy a telescopic forklift so they could unload you from one side.
@@johnnaughton3499 cus they usually more expensive. bigger. more complicated to operate and maintain. and perhaps most importantly. they dont want to.. driver problem. till we get a union like train drivers have. things will never change for the better. actually may get worse. government still pluging the driver shortage theory a giving away class 1's ... even though theres is plenty of drivers
I know Shaftesbury and Radstock pretty well. Been a lot of building going on for years in Shaftesbury.
They should pay more for smaller lorries rather than big loads on big lorries. Perhaps you should be paid for long time deliveries.
I wonder if SIG had been at that location first, then the houses built after?
It wouldn't be the first time something like that has happened!
Thanks for the latest trucking vlog; keep up the good work.
Why does your boss make you fill in a timesheet when he’s downloading your tacho which would tell him the same information?
Most firms do. It’s a good way of checking for fraud from the drivers putting down hours on the timesheet their tachos don’t show.
This company needs telling off they shouldn’t be telling all these trucks to come at the same time
The kerbs are not high, they dont put the top layer of tarmac on till they have finished, that way the surface layer isnt chewed up by heavy or tracked vehicles.
Which results in high kerbs 😂
I used to tarmac these roads 🥰 you’re right, it’s the last thing they do
@@lukecinahgv All warehouse aprons are made with concrete rather than tarmac which is more hardwearing and wont be chewed up by dry steering, your first drop off makes it much worse for everyone by dicking around rather than gettting you tipped quick, good job the locals havent noticed no number plate on the forklift they are using on a public highway.
Places like that are an absolute disgrace. They shouldn't be allowed to open businesses that have constant HGV traffic having to get to them, it's a joke. They are bad enough in a Class 2 never mind you Class 1 drivers having to get into them.Unecessary stress on the drivers and locals too.
Hi Luke hope you are well buddy.brilliant vlog how are you getting on with playing your guitar 🎸🎸🎶🎸 in the cab have you learned any songs yet with Christmas 🎄 coming up.take care buddy nice to see ya Phil 👍🍀😁🇬🇧
Best of luck with everything 🚛 safe travels 👍👍👍
Cracking video Luke and snug, snug, snug!! Enjoy your Audi, love the V8 burble!! Would consider one but love my BMW M340d touring! Keep up the good work and keep safe! 👍🙂🚛
Windy roads on estates are a speed restricting device. That why they have them.
Dead right, we live on a new development in Seaton E Devon and it's a flipping nightmare with un finished roads and narrow. I don't know how you do it and stay sane.
Hi great video well done great driving i do a lot off sig roofing places i do hate that one some times. They neather think off access and h &h not fun at the moment long wait
DONT want go to SYDHAMS BATH BA2 , ODD DOWN DEPOT . Struggle with 7.5/ 18tonner never mind arctic . IN side road reverse down between houses AWKward parking on junction with yard .
Try reversing a 40 ft into the loading dock at bath theatre royal 😁
Curved roads reduce speeds, theoretically. If they made the roads wider, there'd be fewer houses, less profit.
I used to tell the moaners that it wasn’t my fault they lived on a building site and if they wanted to complain ring the number on the waggon ….
Brilliant driving. Well done. Such a stupid place to have a company.
I just realised, this is Horsham at the start, I live not far away from there lol, I go there for my car parts, in that industrial estate 😂
Good luck 👍
The roads on housing estates are far too narrow nowadays
Another great video Luke thankyou.
Companies with premises in such stupid places should be obliged to pay for all their deliveries to be made by 7.5t trucks. HGV drivers shouldn't be expected to endure such stress!
Luke you’re looking well mate you’ve lost weight again and look so much better for it
Did that green and red truck unload himself ? He seemed to go straight in
Great video thanks for the wonderful content Luke ❤
Hey Luke, what does the green beacon on the front of the truck mean?
I use to live in that area (Locally). I always found HGVs are fine but it was the delivery drivers that caused the blockages 😂
Smart haircut luke
compound for the bricks / blocks very poor , should have sorted that out before they started building , having driven a tele handler on sites for 30 years , i would like to think it would be a 20/ 30 minute un load time , total agreement with you on the roads in and out of site , no thought on how the hell an artic is going to get in .
If every truck just started refusing delivering to them then the company would have to move eventually to a more practical location.
The thing is that will never happen cos the companies who are taking the jobs on aren’t driving so don’t really care
@ That’s true. Drivers are the forgotten heroes.
They would if unit rents were set affordably.
@@Sammyboy1991 yeah and then get all the shit off the locals like they can do anything about it,
Another great video, mate keep up the good work 👍🏿
G101 Rocks i do all my car and waggon and cooker and i put a egg cup full in the washing machine with all my high vis coats and vests all like new ,
Imagine finding your dream home and this happens as you close.
Maybe if you love Lory spotting! 😂
Jesus H Christ imagine living in one of those houses when you have trucks parking outside your house 10ft away blocking everything omg what a nightmare I'd never live there.
Me neither. Be silly too.
Hi luke enjoyed the video keep trucking and stay safe mate
You must gat a earful at many places you have to go to a lot of roads were built for horse and carts good luck👍
that area is an absolute disgrace
I think everyone should be made take a lesson in a HGV and a combine harvester before getting a car license so they know how much room they need, they would not moan about them
The big business and hgv business , over the years hgvs have got larger , longer , heaver , etc , the road system has not changed , time the haulage industry sent in smaller units in to known small tight areas , the damage to the road system ,and the number of hgvs which are to large for the road system ,
Luke your driving skills are A1 and so is your compassion for local residents drivers aren't always that considerate
No cos they are pissed off with being spoken to like they've crawled out from under a stone
Hi luke.my son has his theory test booked for Feb do you have any tips to help him pass.He is really looking forward to becoming a hgv driver.thanks
Practical test wise… if he mounts the kerb even slightly… he’ll fail.Luke has totally forgotten this in his driving. Lazy and bad practice.
Thank you I will pass it on to my son@Sunshinesmuse
Probably find that the Industrial area ws there first before the housing estate was, and they added the estate afterwards with no consideration of artics coming in
Please do not worry about the miserable locals, you're there to do your job. If they need to complain, see the Management😮😮
Friday night's little extra job always takes too long.
There is a reason why HGV's refuse delivering in tiny villages because the narrow roads were only designed for horse and carriage size.
You would need a banksman with you?
@@steve00alt70 no banksman needed for that one in my opinion. Simple enough even with traffic. Just depends on drivers ability to reverse
Hi Luke, really enjoy your videos along with Trucker Tims and you really do do the industry a service, never thought I'd enjoy watching trucking this much and its nice to see when the locals awknowledge you, keep the vids coming!
A good set up for someone on benefits
Can you film when you finish driving? Behind the scenes what you do when you clock off
Delivering them goods u would use 7,5 ton flat back truck small 2 of them
I was delivering 28tonnes. So that would be 4 of them.
This would never happen in Australia, Typical of the UK trying to fit commercial and residential areas together.
Dont apologize, if you didn't work and was on benefits they would moan too. Moan when you work and moan when you don't work
Nice one Luke, thanks 👍👍
I used to do building site work with a 40 ft, always was a bl@@@y nightmare.
bit off topic but what watch is that? looks really good
