Unusual these days to see a singer singing with real, live musicians playing at the same time. Many famous singers have never done anything but sing to pre-recorded tracks. Many singers just will not sing to tracks, including Bafrbra Streisand, because they feel so much creatively is lost in the process. This is such a superb performance, great song and I am a big Dawn fan.

I've been posting this video on social sites for a few months now for so many musical reasons. Dawn you have exceptionally pure vocal tone and ability. Somehow I can't stop replaying this. Just tonight I let another client listen to this. Hmmm! Studio C at Blackbird Studios, this room really must have some awesome diffusion capabilities. An audio perfect Massenburg design I have to say. The musicians are pro. Dawn take care of that angelic tone. Compliments all the way from the island Barbados

Really fantastic song and a wonderful voice! I have heard that people don't like being in Blackbird studio for long periods of time and that the acoustical treatments are hard to look at for long periods of time, Did you experience anything like that? I have listened to this video many times and love all of the musicians too. Is there a list of who is playing each instrument somewhere?
I didn’t look at it much as far as I recall. I was reeeeeeally focused on getting a good vocal. Did the whole Highwire album there, but didn’t get any dizziness or seasickness, and I could get seasick in a rowboat 🚣♀️ on a tiny fish pond. 🙂

I’ve seen some interviews with you were you were telling your story and I think you are an amazing person. Just FYI… I’m not some creeper. I’m a serious music industry guy that owns a higher and commercial recording studio. Not quite blackbird! But it is most certainly the nicest in my area.

@DawnLangstroth I think you sound amazing and the band is killer too. Without seeing the comment in question, I too heard something slightly weird at 2:17 relating to the sonic quality and/or feel of the snare hits. Of course, when I listen to my own recording I hear about a million of those things and my engineer says I have bat ears. lol I track up here in Michigan at Glenn Brown's. Dawn - were most of the vocals done in the track we're seeing here? I'm watching you pretty closely when you're on the screen - I don't see any difference between your lips moving and the vocals. I watch pretty closely for things like that. BTW - that notwithstanding - you are an amazing vocalist......... One other question - was the music behind you a "one take?" Curious minds want to know......
Rod Gervais I did my best, and we likely used a lot parts of the track from these, but I may have gone in and done some tweaking in tiny places that I would have only noticed, but I'm a stickler for pitch... 😁
Nice voice. I actually think DL is better (and seems more like a star) than the arrangement backing her. she needs a bigger production with a more contemporary sound (or even a more pared-down retro-contemporary sound). In other words if she went in either a 'shania' or a 'norah jones' direction, i think she would shine... i think the look and the voice is there, but is buried in this arrangement. My fave part of this is her voice when the instruments cut out at the end. More of that plz!

I have heard this as well. A friend of mine spent some time there and said he almost felt sea sick after a while.
