wow really majestic and cant believe it was filmed in 2020 year of corona, bangkok is always my favourite city with their picturesque view and one of super clean cities in the world indeed.
The first time I saw one of your videos about I can't see him I knew I had to go there to see it and now I will be in Bangkok in late January and I must I must see that mom and thank you for sharing this
Thailand is still shut down at borders. It is possible to go into a 14 day quarantine in Bangkok upon arrival but that is expensive. Thailand's great handling of the pandemic has made everywhere outside Thailand more covid than Thailand and 98% of Thais don't want to open up, yet.
Absolutely gorgeous. We were there last Christmas and thought Icon Siam was totally amazing. Felt like I was back there today. It still looks busy despite the drop in tourists💖
Very elegant at ICONSIAM I have been there four or five times and have a chance to take a walk again. You made another clip. Will release old clips that you post in. Clip often. 💖💛👍😊👍💖💛

Nice one mate ...busier than when i was there several times last year (Good) ....Tip ...there is an upstairs half floor to that food court (Roadside)that sells excellent “street food”at great prices. RegardsRobbieHH
Back in 2019 went to IconSiam with a TukTuk but sadly when we arrived at the back side of the shopping mall it was closed then we got a great idea with my friend that we go and see Lumpini park becisue we haven't seen that either but sadly that was closed too hahah 😹
one day i discovered a very nice coffe shop on Charoen Nakorn road.... a couple of days later i decided to walk back there.....only to discover it had gone and was replaced by an immense building site: the start of Icon Siam :D
When covid broke, Thailand shut down. That is why, in a country of 70 million,..there were only 60 deaths and under 4,000 cases. It has been pretty much normal in Thailand since July but people are more mask conscious and all the malls in Chiang Mai test your body temperature and require masks for entry. I assume that is the case in BKK, too. If one goes outside masks are worn by many but many others do not wear them unless they have to visit a business. It is funny, some motorcyclists will wear a mask but no helmet, others will wear a helmet and no mask.
Heh heh.. at 18:45 when the water fountains started it suddenly occurred to me.. how much do they charge to use the toilets and does it increase in price as the fountains start? In September 2017 I also took a free boat ride down the Bangkok river to a similar place called Asiatique. Very beautiful, but not as big and beautiful as this new place. I will definitely try to visit Icon Siam next year. I watched them building the new BTS and MRT stations, I promised myself I would go back and check them out once they are finished. One of the centre water jet nozzles was out of line, it was driving my OCD nuts!
Before Icon was finished, there was a lot of fanfare about it becoming the tallest structure in Bangkok. The Pixel building added a roof deck so it would continue to be the tallest building in Bangkok.
Mooie video maar stond daar aan de ingang binnen in het winkelcenter toch een grote circelvormige waterval. Die kwam uit het hoogste plafond helemaal tot beneden. Die heb ik niet gezien.
not that long ago, when we took that ferry to go to Klong San market there always would be a lot of confusion, because people were convinced no farang would like to cross the river and everybody tried to explain to us it was not the river express :-)
In front of the Icon Siam, I think that is the Christmas tree in Thai identity, And Yi Peng lamp, From world-class artist "Mike Perry", winner of the 2018 Emmy Awards (Animation). The event "Bangkok Illumination 2020 At ICONSIAM" on display until November 30. I'm not sure that something will be changed after that or not. Hope this information useful. シ
William Quinn sir, This is a very good channel to tell stories in Bangkok or Thailand. It means a lot for Thai people in a situations like this. I am very grateful that he made these things. I don't have the ability to do anything like this. So I try to help as much as I can. Which most of my comments are for the algorithm of RUclips as well (I hope so), And sometimes some of the information in these videos is in Thai language. I just put it here in English, Not a special knowledge at all. I apologize if anything goes wrong. Thank you for your reply. シ
Icon is on the largest river in BKK, there are lots of river taxis and they are cheap and convenient. Using the river is a good way to get around without suffering in BKK traffic.
The water show reminds me of the water show at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore - so beautiful! Is this water show all year round, or is it just for the Christmas period?
...They don't have a electricity approvisionnement problem in this country🙊 hihi ;-) it's not like France...The country of lights the lights are open 🙊
I've been to KL several times. It is a beautiful city but there were AQI issues both times I had time to film. The Petronas Towers are nice but the wait to go up to the observation deck takes forever.
This is the mall dude , it’s no a skyscraper 🏙. Why would you compare anyway, beautiful in life is that you can see variety of things such as destinations places and people.
I too thought it was unique for the mall owners to fund the rai service that is being built. I then thought about it a bit more. The BTS is a PPP (Public Private Partnership) setup. Private companies raise the finance, build the infrastructure and operate the services for 30 - 50, 99 years. Of course, the cost of the finance is more for than for the government as lending to governments is usually regarded as more secure. The extra cost of finance is paid for by higher fares as are the dividends paid to the investors. In any event, it occurred to me that the statement by the mall owners that they funded the building of the BTS going past their door is while true is a bit of 'spin'. The Icon Mall like all malls gets the benefit of transport infrastructure built on public roads. The thing I find annoying is that the stairs and elevators leading to the BTS station is built on the footpath. I think some land should have been resumed and the footpaths be kept clear. What is worse with Icon Siam is that mall has obviously taken land that is public land, the footpath, and used it for its own purposes. Bangkok is famous for its street life, but Bangkok shopping malls are deliberately designed to ignore the street. The main entrance to the shopping malls is not the street level, it is one level higher. The main entrance is at the level of the BTS station. Street level is effectively the basement and service entrance. It is not designed for pedestrians to enter from the street. It is for vehicles to enter.
Govt always try to move stairs and elevators off the footpath in new projects (since MRT blue line was design like 15 years ago). But community resistance to land expropriation on some area was too high every public hearing or costing too much so the only way out is to use footpath area. Land along purple line are cheap enough to do it, but not for Blue line and Green line extension. The problem with Bangkok street footpath mostly dated back to before 2522 B.E. building control act was born. There is no setback for building right beside the street border. You can build 2-3 stories high structure 0m from the street border which is prohibited since then. Now there are at least 1m or more setback depending on how high building is, FAR ratio of the city planning allowance, etc. And for ICON SIAM foothpath is clear enough, they even give some if its land to build stairs and elevators (for EIA to pass) so it wont affect footpath too much. So actually most new building such as malls, condos are making footpath better than make it worse. Check Sukhumvit area 20 years back compared to what is it now.
