I feel yeah with the knee thing. I skate regular, but I've had an injured left knee for the past year, but finally started getting better. Finally able to hike, ball, skate, lift, etc. Not as good as before the injury, but not as depressing as during.
I'd also say, working as a server, walking 5 miles a day has helped as well as before that point, doing knees over toes stuff. Mainly just working out the shins by leaning forward with a lunge and stretching the quads.
I've been looking everywhere for an answer, I bought these shoes and they HURT. My feet BLEED at the backs of the ankles. For people who own these, how long does it take for these shoes to get soft??
Good review! I think they're also a response to Last Resort AB. I can't believe how nice the flick on the Last Resorts is compared to the old pro Vans. Slimmer, better fitting shoes are definitely the way to go.
@@localjoe For sure! Another flaw is that there's a 50% chance that the foxing comes away from the sole and they get all full of gravel and water. The sick stick on the Rowans seemed to fix that so the Skate Classics should be fine too. There's no signs of the soles falling to bits on my Last Resorts either.
@@localjoe Yeah man, you should because it’s really hard to find reviews on them. I’d say they have the best boardfeel and grip of any shoe I’ve skated but they’re pretty thin. They’re basically perfect as long as you’re not throwing yourself down huge stair sets.
Take care of your knee. I had surgery on mine at 26. Wish I would of kept up on taking care of it. Need another surgery atleast to fix it. I'm die hard Van's and went to 3 stores last week looking for these. No dice. But I did order some Rowley classics last week. Now do 100 heelflips. Those are what destroy my shoes fast ! Haha I was thinking about doing a hundred heel flips but it seems like a lot of work in vulcanized shoes. Maybe in some cup soles. I’ve been doing this guys program for my knee for the last month and my knee is pretty much back to normal. Check out Kneesovertoesguy on insta.

yeah the breaking in part HURTS in the arch of my foot i gotta take them off here and there but once there broken it they feel and fit just like a sock !!!!
yea man it sucks at first i bought two pairs of pros last weekend and started with the slip ons and couldn’t take that pain anymore and just started skating my old skool pros so much easy to break in but i’ll prolly break in the slip ons soon

i don’t think vans is trying to compete with straye at all lol, straye is a really small company and is taking the smallest percentage of their business. looks like vans is just doing their own thing

The insoles are flat because everyone's feet are a little different. When they break in the insole will shape to your foot. Giving you a much more personal fit than if they pre shaped the insole.
I feel that it's just they do seem to take longer to break in for sure. My nike shane's broke in halfway through 100 kickflips and by the end felt like I'd skated them for a week already.
Is there some kind of warantee or something? Vans shoe quality is pretty low considering how big of a company they are I've had similar structural issues with mans pros in the past...

Hi Joe, i have a question about straye Ventura xr , i just wenn to Bus Then yesterday at a local Shop but ended up not getting them cause I wasn’t sure about the fit, the 40 (eu size) felt too big and the 39,5 too tight... what’s your advice regarding that? No fear o feeling tight cause they gonna break a little or better feel cosy in them cause they could be feeling too tight if I go for the smaller size? I had the feeling my heel were slipping out in the bigger size.. so I ended up unsure and didn’t buy them... but I really much like them...
Mmm you do know the duracap under the suede so when it dose RIP threw that the duracap is a plastic like rubber toe cap right cause it sounds like you thought you said the duracap was just over the foxing

Honestly no update to the insoles. Maybe design on the bottom but that’s it. I thought the duracap was behind the suede, not the outsole. Pretty interesting. Loved the review!
I have these shoes they take a bit to break in I recommend using a microwave or hairdryer to help with the process and the first time you skate them don't plan to skate all day because they will hurt for a bit but overall i love the shoes
I've never heard of strays. But hey I don't think I'm going to stray away from Vans again I made that mistake testing shoes out the last 5 years a lot of garbage on the market I'll stick with my Vans.
Just depends on what you like but the old vans pros were garbage in my opinion and the strayes are a better version of the OG vans shoes... but I think the Pro model shoes like the Kyle Walkers and such are a completely different story.
I normally get a size 8.5 in slip ons because I like them extra snug that’s what did with these and they feel tight but the toe feels just right so I reckon once they break in they’ll be golden. I’d definitely try and find a vans store to try them on

Dude not buy these I ride bmx and ripped them in two days of normal riding the toe cap in the middle of the shoe ripped so fast and they where 70 dollars I did get a refund tho

they were such trash dude it really bothered me because for a company like vans that is supposed to back skaters as part of their marketing it just felt like empty promises but these shoes are definitely a step in the right direction I'd actually consider buying these over strayes.
Slips ons take a while to break in, but every other shoe I have skated have felt great from the pro line. IMO best feeling skate shoes on my feet.
Are they painful before broken in?
Pro slip-ons take a little bit to break in but once they are they are the best feeling skate shoes in my opinion

There is also a heel stiffener inbetween the midsole and outsole to keep the shoes from getting floppy quick
does that mean theyre not as flexible as the old pros

I always go with the smaller size and let them break in and feel cozy personally. Hope that helps!

I feel like most vulcanized shoes have no arch support maybe you'd like cupsoles better.

Underneath the suede near the toe there is another layer of rubber for added durability. It’s called the dura cap
