    Although your skin is oily I think it’s dehydrated! I notice in your skincare routines you use oil free moisturisers or skip moisturiser altogether, I think that might be one of your issues is that your skin is overcompensating because your moisture barrier is depleted, a good gentle fragrance free Moisturizer like Cerave might do wonders for your skin! And you might have to persevere whilst your skin adjusts ☺️

      Alex yes 100% agree! I used to be just as oily as Cassie. I’m still oily (and get acne), but it’s cut down a LOT just by moisturizing with a hydrating moisturizer. I also love CeraVe and LOVE the moisturizing cream at night. No break outs, the redness has calmed down in my skin, my skin creases less, and my makeup creases less too! It’s been a game changer.

      I have combo skin and there is some truth to what you are saying, but there doesn't need to be oil to hydrate. For me, CeraVe leaves my face feeling a bit tacky even hours later. It took a few products, but I found LaRoche-Posay Double Repair moisturizer. It's oil free yet very hydrating and my nose and chin don't produce as much oil with it.

    I adore this foundation! I use it after serum, moisturizer, and primer and have had no issues. I just use it with one application, no need for second application, and it’s awesome! Having used mostly expensive (Chanel, YSL) foundations, this is a keeper!

    Blotting with a beauty blender toward the end of the day will absorb the excess oil while gently blending in the remaining foundation. Perhaps worth a try!

      That would only work if one does not use powder to set foundation tho. Does she even use powder ??? I didn't see it mentioned in this video but this is the first video I'm seeing of hers && I'm also 9 months late lol. I have to set my foundation with powder, so if I get a little oily I just lightly use 1 sheet of toilet paper && it absorbs wonderfully without disturbing anything underneath.. then I will retouch with a little more powder. It's crazy how everyones skin is so different😭 If I was to blot/blend with a beauty blender after I already set my face makeup it would be a disaster, && kind of gross(taking off your oils on your beauty blender😬) but hey, what works for one may not work for another. I've been a literal pro at doing makeup since I was like 13(am now 28), but after having severe depression for over 5 years I've lost my touch in doing my makeup, hair, etc. It's sooo upsetting💔

    in my opinion, it seems like the more "mix-ins" you use, the worse the foundation looks, and that seems to be the case especially for the last few wear tests. even when you have breakouts and things of that nature, really heavy, matte, dry coverage doesn't necessarily make those "issues" look any better, just more dry, and cakey. you are beautiful as you are, and don't so much coverage or so many products!

    • @krysdf
      @krysdf 2 года назад

      What if you used a concealer from the same line to lighten and mix in... I know it might change coverage slightly but better than other formulas I would think.. Or maybe use the concealer and apply with sponge to sheer and shee a bit more with setting spray or something???

  • @nosybutnice7538
    @nosybutnice7538 4 года назад +35

    There is no such thing as a mix in medium that doesn’t affect a foundation. It alters the chemistry and ph as well as how it reacts to dry patches and oil, no matter what mixer you use. Also over powdering can have a horrible affect on a foundation. I’m 45 years old with oily skin and mild acne. Trust me, I get it...you gotta powder. But just wanted to throw that out there. Also, concealing before putting on the foundation affects it greatly. Spot conceal after and you’ll have a better result. ❤️

I am 37 but with dry skin and rosacea and everything burns so for years I have worn powdered foundation. However, my skin is so dry I need a moisturizing foundation or tinted moisturizer underneath so I dont look patchy and covers the redness. Now that you have reviewed this, it's beautiful on you. Your skin is slightly textured like mine so if it looks like this on you there is hope for me.

      I'm 59 and colour my very thick hair, so the outlook didn't look promising.
      However, the CGM managed to overcome every single obstacle (AND because I haven't been able to get a haircut - the new hair growth hasn't been an annoying, torturous ordeal).
      I'll never use anything on my bonce unless it's CGM approved. 😊

    The colour is wrong on you. You seem to favour getting foundations with yellow undertones,but in reality you have pink undertones.Your skin is not oily, it's dehydrated and the reason you are getting more oil production is because your skin is trying to compensate for being overly dry. You need to start using moisturizers that are made for dehydrated skin and not oil free ones.

    I turned 40 yesterday, so maybe it's time for me to try this foundation! 😜 Actually it probably wouldn't work well for me, I have combo/oily skin, oily in the summertime. I like the foundation Loreal released last summer... Fresh Wear I think it's called? However, I haven't worn foundation for 5 months because I gotta wear masks all day at work. 👩🏽‍⚕️

I used to be very oily as well but I’ve been using The Ordinary’s Niacinamide serum for the last 2 months and my skin has completely transformed, my oil is more balanced thus helping me not break out as bad. Just thought I’d share since it worked so well for me. Love your channel!

    I think its safe to say that anytime oily skinned gals see the word 'serum' on the foundation bottle, its prolly best to stay away. I felt exactly like this with the Bare Minerals serum foundation. Oh how I loved the initial look on my skin when first applied. I was so disappointed that there was just no way getting around how oily and heavy my skin felt in all of about 2 to 3 hours. Very disappointed.

    I have combo skin where my oils settle around my nose and between my lip and chin (I have a divit there) when I wear foundation, before powdering wipe your face lightly with tissue or cotton ball. I find it removes any excess foundation so I get less cakey in my oily areas. When I wear powder ill wipe a second time after.
    It would be fun to see you color matched to find your perfect shade of foundation. Don't know if you ever have.

    Heres how my makeup lasts perfectly from 6am to 6pm. Fulltime workdays. I heavily moisturise at night. Ive learned on workdays to apply foundation over bare face and press it in so it doesnt sit on top of anything. It becomes one with my skin. Second I am 40 and havent had periods for years and this is due to having Implanon inserted into inside of one arm. Its birth control and for me stops periods altogether. So no breakouts and people are asking me what foundation and powder do i use because i come home from work with my makeup looking the same as when i put it on. Ive learnt through trial and error. No moisturiser no primer and press it in with sponge and lightly powder.

    Have you ever tried the Estee Lauder Doublewear foundation (the original) before? I love that one and it's targeted towards oily skin. I don't know why Loreal doesn't number their shades according to warm, neutral and cool (by using the the first letter behind the number). That's the standard for helping to find the right shade. But I do noticed that they call cool shades out by using the word "rose." "Beige" is always a warm color. "Buff" is usually a neutral. At the bottom of their website for this foundation its says to use your fingers or a damp sponge to gently pat into the skin because a brush can leave streaks. And it says to start from the center of the face. This is the way all foundations should be applied. The lightest layer should be on the outside of the face. I notice you always start on your cheeks first. I wouldn't use any foundation targeted for mature skin because that usually means glowy. I really liked the initial application (but wished you had applied less because that usually means a heavy weight feeling). Oh, and PLEASE stop using the mixing medium. That will always affect the performance of any foundation. Simply return it to where you bought it and then pick out a better shade.

    • @Roadie247
      @Roadie247 4 года назад

      Actually you apply foundation in your problem areas first. The center of my face is the best part of my skin. Whereas the outer parts have lots of hyperpigmentation. So application is different for everyone . Myself at 45 have different coverage needs compared to someone 25 that can apply in the center and blend out towards the outer areas. Someone with aging skin doesn’t always need their foundation applied initially to the center bc of settling.

    • @onestep2dee
      @onestep2dee 4 года назад

      @@Roadie247 Yes, I agree. People have different coverage needs. I myself am 58. I have had acne all my life and also have dermatillomania. My skin very rarely gets pimples on the outside of my face like it used to when I was younger. Now that I'm older, it's gotten drier on the outside of my face. I need coverage in the center of my face. Even so, I've watched Allie Glines and for her the center of her face is where she needs to most coverage but she also has hyperpigmentation, pimples, and acne scars on each side of her lower chin. She also spot conceals on top of her foundation. I just watched a video of hers where she teaches how to make makeup look good in person in real life. It was excellent!
      I've watched other youtubers and I've learned from them that starting from the center is considered a best practice for applying foundation. Many websites for brands also say to apply from the center outwards. I didn't learn this technique until a couple years ago myself when I started watching makeup videos in order to get better at applying makeup better for myself.

    I used this foundation as a cc cream and really rubbed it in with my fingers, then it didn't feel so oily at the end of the day.
    With that in mind, you may not get great coverage.
    I used this with nars concealer on top and then sprayed down with matte finishing spray and I got much better coverage.

After makeup is complete, add extra powder to the sides of your nose where the pads will be. Then also add powder to your frame of pads of glasses. I wish I could remember the youtuber who I saw posted this trick as I am sure I am not explaining well...

      I’ve always noticed that living in FL too. I have 3 different time of year foundation switch ups. Winter and summer foundations have to be completely different for me due to the weather and what passes as our falls and springs even requires a different foundation for my skin. I think that’s become more prominent as I’ve aged (I’m 43)

It has been the only foundation that I've been wearing this summer because of the SPF. Maybe this foundation would do better in cooler weather? 🤔
