What a crazy time we are all living in. That being said it is important to also get fresh and I personally think this is one of the best options. Me and my brother were no where near another person all day and still managed to bring home dinner.
We usually wouldn't keep so much fish and would have differently let the big ling cod go but in times like this we need all the food we can get. Nothing from these fish were wasted, everything was used.

@@WhoopWhoop419 15 foot waves are no bull we went out a few times and there was no way we could get a line in the water and a few ppl have bin killed by rouge waves already. Hopefully its calmer where your from, catch that hog out there
@@TMB_outdoors yep, a few friends and i are like the montouk NY crew, we fished during kingtide with 65+ lb braid with 50lb flourocarbon with 8oz weights. i didnt catch shiz but my buddy caught an 8lb ling

I’m still trying to catch a ling! It’s been 2 licenses and no dice. I’ve been trying around half moon bay.. do I need to go north more?
Anywhere along the coast you should be good as long as there's rocks but trust me the lingcod have bin avoiding me this year so far 😅

I use 2 different rods usually but 1 one of them broke but I use the Okumma SST rod. I have 2 of them and with one I have abu garcia black max and the other I have a shimano sacorro
I think I'll make a video and post what I use so thank you, you gave me an idea.

Ill be fishing the coast soon...what weight would u rec for the Texas rig.... my baits run from 3 -4 inches, is this big enough. I am from East Coast and fish rivers so a bit of a novice in ocean lol. Thanks
Perfect size swim bait I got a 28 inch ling with a 2 inch bait, i usually go an ounce weight for any occasion depending on the conditions I might go half ounce if it's flat and calm or no more then an ounce and a half
@@TMB_outdoors thanks! Is Texas rig the way to go or can I get away with 1/2 oz jigheads? I guess the jigheads get snagged more. On the bait my biggest walleye caught from shore this year was on a tiny 2 inch gulp minnow, also 28 inches! Let him go as above size limit!

The ones I used here I made on my own, I have a mold I bought online but you csnt go wrong with swimbaits from outdoor pro shop in Cotati, kitech swimbaits are my next favorite
The Master Baiter Thanks for the fast reply. I live near El Cerrito so we might see what Bay Tackle has. We’ll be driving through Cotati on our way to Fort Ross but might go through earlier than they open. But if not will stop in there. 2 days of shore fishing for hopefully Ling, Cabbies, Rocks and whatever else will hit us, then we’ll hit Clear Lake on the way home Sunday for some bass. My daughter is only 9 years old but is a fish fanatic already. We’ve been catching leopards, rays, perch, stripers, smelt, etc around the bay near home and some rock fish down near Half Moon Bay. Time to get to some wilder areas and hopefully some Lings. She watches your channel and a few other Bay Area fishing channels on RUclips obsessively. Thanks much for the vids and advice.

The Master Baiter thanks. Yes, we’ll be very cautious and play it safe. No taking chances. We’ll both be in life jackets too. Will be back later for advice to set ourselves up to make swimbaits. She’d love to do that!

THE "MASTER BAITER", is not the greatest tittle for your theme might want to rethink that one. Also, these are not record catches. You might want to re-write that as well.
The name is for laughs and gigles and that ling I got is a record for me 😅 and from shore on a swimbsit makes it even better.
