  • I am Papa Brad. I love everything RETRO! I grew up in the arcade golden age. As a kid when my parents asked if I wanted to go the toy store or arcade, I always picked arcade. The 80s and 90s arcade games will hold a special place in my heart. The Atari 2600 was the first console that brought the arcade experience home. Today, I have an arcade in my home with cabs from all the main home arcade companies. I love ALL things arcade, retro, and pinball. I have awesome arcade tours and cover the home arcade scene. So i bought a 1up for 200$ when they first came up the Street fighter edition. Changed it into a MAME arcade, but 700$ for a 1up - naaah.

      That's awesome to hear! It sounds like you got a great deal and turned it into something even better. MAME arcades are such a fun way to relive those classic games!

    I think if you show ZERO community out reach for almost a year, can't show a real product design and development road map, can't put your sales or marketing people on any podcast in the space (for free) -- you MUST be a poorly run company at best and a fully dead company at worst. It's a skeleton crew re-hashing old licenses through an overly complicated distribution system. I mean holy shit -- they made a skinny cab because why? I will give A1UP some credit though -- their absolute product dev mismanagement has opened the door to competitors to enter the space. If you truly care about your home arcade -- hold out for sub $150 fully loaded MiSTer systems in DIY cabs and/or whatever NWT delivers in 2025...

    What do you think about Arcade1Up?

    • @gabrielgray
      @gabrielgray Месяц назад +4

      honestly, i think its become over priced and not really worth the investment anymore... back with the first three gens a 1 up would only cost like 400 bucks max,, now average price is almost a grand... I might as well just save my pennies and get the real thing.

      @@adriankaminski8189 make your own.. when you figure out the product costs now, making your own out of 1inch plywood, and getting a print company to make your art and marquee and then buy the pcb, pi or pc brain.. in the end, the cost of all those are about par with a 1up now.

      sheet of 4x8 = 40.00, getting a company to cut your shapes might run you 300 bucks total, buying a decent monitor can run from 20-200, art is about 250, controls n buttons are about 80 for everything. marquee is around 80-100 Raspberry pi are around 100ish.. pcbs are about the same, mini pc would cost about 300 since the average new 1ups all seem to cost close to a grand now.. makes more sense to just make your own..
