Haha, thanks Hugh! "Star" is about 8 levels too high, but I'm just glad to be able to get to work from time to time.
I think DRS is still context neural. They just use base-out states to determine the value of the out vs the value of the misplay based on every possible situation. Those are then averaged to get a number. But a misplay with the bases loaded is no more damaging to your defensive metrics than a misplay with the bases empty.

Good stuff guys. NL MVP. My pick was and still is...Bryce Harper. Let's see if he gets on a roll. But yeah, right now it's Betts/Ohtani. Cy Young right now is Ranger Suarez. Re: Sale. I'm willing to bet he stays healthy. Last game the commentators were talking about how he finally tweaked his diet (cut out gluten for sure) and his body responded. A lot of people have inflammation and then get tendon/ligament flares, joint pain etc etc and get worked up for the 'usual' rheumatologic stuff and the medical tests are negative...and then they tweak their diet and it all fades away. I think he's back.
Harper is rounding into form! And we know he always has a monster second half... Hard to argue with Suarez for CY, he has been so incredibly consistent! Thanks for sharing that diet story, I hadn't heard that, but it definitely makes sense.

Awesome! I should have guessed by your name! I played Lt. Novitz in the final three episodes of the series, commanding the science vessel headed to Tantiss. Also, I voiced a couple stormtroopers in those episodes, and the Medical Tech monitoring the Zillo Beast and yelling up to some stormtroopers in the finale. It was truly a dream come true for this life-long Star Wars fan. Thanks for watching and happy collecting!

Aside from Acuña, I'm really surprised how average Tatis Jr looks. Still early but he still is unsure at the plate. I picked him as my dark horse MVP in February

Deep diving Chris Sale, I came across this nugget…. He’s on a Vesting Option for his 2025 Contract. If he can finish in the Top 10 of Cy Young voting AND ‘avoid injuries / not end the season on the IL’, it will kick in for 2025. 🤔
So, Sale and the Braves would want him to deliver the volume of innings that get them deep into postseason (and him in Cy Young voting)…. But both would not want him to overdo it and get injured (as it would leave a 35 year old FA on the IL comeback trail again… and the Braves ruing a great asset lost to injury.)
