I'm a Yankees fan and my dad is a Mets fan. We were at game 4 where Jeter hit the first pitch home run which single-handedly swung the momentum back in the Yankees favor. Needless to say, he was not thrilled going home haha. I miss this time.

I swear every kid on Long Island had there team attached to the handle bars and that’s all everybody talked about and lived for that time. Cars painted blue and orange , flags draped on windows. I was young but the memories haven’t disappeared

Watched game one @ Chammps in Edison NJ. Game 2 at the Hilton EB NJ. Game 3 & 4 at home. Game 5 at Tradewinds Seabright NJ.
Back then you could wait by the players parking lot at Shea and see all the players cars. I remember Ricky Henderson had a beat up Ford explorer lol. Todd zeile had a white suv either Toyota or Lexus. I remember getting his autograph while he was in the car and l said to him “it smells nice in here” (it actually smelled really nice) and he laughed and said thanks lol
George bringing Yankee clubhouse furniture is perfect George. A true fan of the team who happened to own it, always cared about winning over everything. Long live the boss♥️
I've never been to New York state, let alone the main city but I can imagine it was a helluva time to live through the 2000 World Series AND the 9/11 terrorists attacks.
9/11 brought us all together god forbid something like that happened I feel our own people in America (not all some) would justify it and not care. The world and the United States is so separated right now. God bless us all.
Crazy they still made this documentary despite the pandemic. I agree with that guy how crazy it was when NYC was a ghost town because of the pandemic. I remember a friend of mine posted photos on social media of how NYC was dead. I never saw anything like that. When I think of NYC I think of big crowds lots of people walking on the streets.
I lived in the city my whole life (I'm 27) and still do. One of my favorite times was when the city was dead. Once the initial fear of COVID was gone you realize everyone was at home so being out in the empty city was pretty safe and cool. I got to see places that used to always be packed completely empty and all for myself.

I lived in an apartment at the time, and the landlord downstairs was a huge Mets fan. When Piazza flied out to Bernie Williams to end the series, I remember jumping purposely up and down on the floor so they could hear my excitement. I went out to Model's the next morning and bought a WS Yankees Championship t shirt so I could wear it to work and rub in the Mets fans' faces. I remember it said 3 in a row. It wasn't the Mets team I disliked it was the Mets fans. I guess Yankees fans can be a holes at times 😂

If there was anything remotely resembling something positive in nature with respect to that horrific tragedy on 9/11 it was in the immediate aftermath of that day something genuinely beautiful happened, for a little while New Yorkers came together as one and nobody saw age/race/gender/religion/etc etc. The only thing that they saw was another New Yorker and for a little while we came together to help someone out if they were in need, people were more respectful and kind to one another because were all in this together and trying to recover from the unimaginable shock of what took place. We were also very mindful that some of our neighbors may have been unaccounted for or perhaps one of their family members or maybe one of our own family members/friends and everyone needed each other for strength and support which was readily available even for a complete stranger. How I wished that this would have lasted permanently! 😔 I also remember that first game after that tragic day that the Yankees resumed the season at Yankee stadium and seeing the tattered American flag from ground zero flying in the stadium and seeing the Yankees take the field along with various first responders and thinking to myself that everything was somehow going to be okay and that we were all going to get through this together as New Yorkers.
Joe Buck and Tim Mccarver make this video so anticlimactic. I get that they are presented as a "neutral party" but I would much rather hear the radio announcers for both teams intertwined to match the excitement of the game. In a video about New York teams, the National broadcast isn't very NY.
