Frankly the situation in the IT industry is mostly due to an oversupply of engineers in this country. People literally hear about that one engineer cousin at family events who is earning very well and decide that their children too should become engineers. And then there is our media that hypes up that very small fraction of engineers from this country that make it big, while omitting the fact that it is not at all the case for 99% of engineers. There was a survey I believe a while back which highlighted that out of a total of 250 career options, indian students were only aware of 7 (you know, the society approved ones). If only the number of engineers churned out every year decreased, companies would be force to re-negotiate the salaries due to a decreasing supply. Yes that would not stop the burn out but it would definitely be a boost towards financial independence.
I totally agree with this, and if people understand this, a lot of problems will solve and companies will be forced to pay better and provide good working culture..
My self, having 10+ years of experience in software development jobs ,had to quit and retire at 38 Last year... The corporate world is toxic ... Coding is still my passion, which I still do for fun... but I am reluctant to go back to a software development Job...
70 hr or 90 hrs per week work in India for what? To leave in polluted city with high AQI and traffic jam ? working and paying high income tax and GST for the corrupt Netas and paying for their vote bank Freebees ? Paying inflated medical bills and services in hospital ? to eat and drink adulterated food items like milk and vegetable ? To deal with corrupt private schools and their high fees ? no job security and no pension for old age? Corporate leader should think this first and then expect this slavery from Indian employee.
Hypocrisy Of Corporates & Exploitation Of Indian workforce is at it's Peak now. This is the major reason why more & more people are leaving India, for Good. Btw, what is the "Union Labour Ministry" of India doing??
Main reason is these companies are out of Indian labour laws which can protect workers of other sectors from exploitation. Only a protest can force governments to work on this. But this class doesn’t even have time for it
I think this problem is more specific to IT jobs, this sector is going to shrink, and people will get laid off, while in other sectors like social sectors, are pretty much stable, like one of my cousin is in CSR sector, earns decent, and has good work life balance
This is going to be disastrous for freshers. It leaves me with no option but to leave India. There has to be some ROI after spending lakhs on education. I did not sign up for an over competitive exploitative job market.
Worked in an org for 2 years, it was a startup thus helped with respect to not just my profile but multiple profiles. I was the best performer for 2 years. They set up standards of operation using my achievements. But when i asked for a raise, they framed me and put me for termination. I wont take the name of the company but we have CEOs who are learning from foreign coaches. They are becoming supremacists, nothing else. Thanks for this video, pls raise the voice
Dear Mam, All the points you described are absolutely correct. I like all your videos, they very well describe the corporate culture & hats off to your solutions to adjust ourself accordingly. Thank you 👍
Dont know Why HR community is not raising voice against 90 days notice period which is giving pain to both recruiters and candidates if notice period is reduced then half of the problems can be solved
That's true dear, but the problem is that this decision is not in hand of HR, I personally have burnt my hands advocating for 30 days notice, some managers ruins it for everyone..
Employment is just a two way contract, nothing more, nothing less. Do your work and go home. Always keep preparing for your next job. Loyalty is laughable. Neither does your company is loyal, nor should you be. Stop treating your team as friends
I work every weekend and take 2 meetings every week with my team does that mean that I have to switch on the highest priority because I am at 4LPA and my domain is testing But people are good and just now completed 2 years and my promotion has been extended 3 months like my confirmation before for 3 months I want to learn some other things then I will prepare for the switch in the month of March will it be a good time or do I have to start today or wait if you are learning something is a good thing??? What I am learning is not related to this IT job I am doing currently.

I'm a doctor, i thought my work is toxic. Now I'm scared for my engineer friends.
It's really sad to hear when a doctor says his work is toxic
