Hi everyone! Someone pointed out to me that Unreal Engine changed their policy in 2020, meaning that you can now use their engine for free up until you earn your first $1.000.000 (earnings doesn’t reset yearly like Unity do) After that they take the 5% cut 🙂 This still means that Unreal Engine gets much more expensive than Unity if you use it in a larger professional capacity, but for smaller indie developers it makes it a lot more appealing. 🙂 But again… pricing is just a small part of choosing between Unity and Unreal at this point, since smaller developers will essentially be able to make games for free in both engines. I recommend looking up comparison articles between the two engines if you are curious about Unreal vs Unity. 🙂 Currently, most comparisons will tell you that Unreal has an slight edge when it comes to graphics, but Unity has a big edge when it comes to “beginner friendliness” and multiple platforms support. The only “hard advice” I have for you, is to start with Unity if you are completely new to game development. Sure… Some people will tell you they started with Unreal Engine, however I can promise you that the learning curve is a lot harder than when choosing Unity. 🙂 So you essentially just “pick what suits you”. Both engines are capable of making stunning looking AAA games and both are used by professional developers today. Also, just to let you all know, I am planning on making tutorials again, but it is at my own pace which means there isn't going to be a fixed upload schedule. 🙂 I took a break from making tutorials a while back because I felt my subscribers had taken control over the channel, so now that I have taken back control 💪 I will be uploading whatever content I wish at whatever time I please. 😉 But just to clarify, I do have a dream to start on a Unity series, so that's what this video is the start to (at my own pace of course).
@@KeysOfPerfection I had it pinned originally, but it seems that it gets unpinned if you edit it. 🙂 I pinned it again just now, thanks for letting me know.
Hi Dani, I always thank you your Great tutorial for Newbies. I have a Question. Where can I find the material in this tutorial. It is not easy to find the download link. Can you give an answer?
This tutorial doesn’t have any material since it is just a “how to setup Unity” video 🙂 Once there is actually material to share, I will put it in the download link at the bottom of the description.
Self taught starting 4 years ago 🙂 I started out by taking a online course in C#, and then read the Unity documentation to learn how to get started with game dev.
I really appreciate it! just to let people know, it threw an 'installed with errors' on me after trying to install visual studio, and it was saying that VS install failed. However simply rebooting like you suggested later was all it needed to do.

I would love to try this, but unfortunately after 3 hours of installing, reinstalling, looking for solutions, trying everything suggested online, in unity forums, in reddit, in other forums, I can/t seem to install the editor application, I always no matter what I do have an installation error that says install failed: validation failed. I think I will try unreal then...
hey man so i have installed the version that i wanted then i clicked install it installed and has been Editor application installing screen for days now....... do you know how to fix this?
@Dani Krossing How do you fix the "could not be opened. Please check the logs" error? I keep getting this error whenever I try to create a project, I keep getting this infuriating error. I've reinstalled Unity Hub so many times already.
If I use the free, or personal version of unity to be specific, can I publish games with it freely? Or do I have to pay for stuff to freely publish them?
You can publish games freely.🙂 There are only two major downsides to not getting the paid version. You will have a Unity splash screen at the start of your game that says “made in Unity”. And if you plan on making A LOT of money on your games, then you will have to get the paid version if you make above a certain amount during a 3 month period. The amount you are allowed to make for free is on the Unity website, and I remember it being quite a lot you are allowed to earn before having to get the paid version. So basically, you can publish as many games as you want, if they are all free and you don’t earn anything on them. 🙂
Dani Krossing tutorials are addictive and easy to follow through. A lot of People (including yours truly) have learnt and acquired new skills thanks to his simple and professional tutorial videos. Thank you @Dani.
The design of Unity Hub has changed slightly, but the buttons and tabs are the same. I checked it 2 weeks ago when one other person had trouble navigating the new design. I can understand how learning a technical skill can be frustrating, especially when things gets updated and changed, but try not to get flabbergasted when it doesn't look 100% identical. 🙂

@@Dani_Krossing no sir, unity is looking completely different right now. It does look like in your video at all. I can't even understand what to do here at all & i haven't even started a project yet
@@Artistic_Game_Developer After seeing your reply I decided to update everything on my PC. Both Unity Hub as well as Unity to the latest version, so I could compare the one in the video with the newest versions. 🙂 In Unity Hub the colors have gotten darker, the "Installs" tab has been moved up under "Projects", and when you create a "New Project" they just made everything into a horizontal list instead of big buttons. Just make sure you click "All Templates" on the left when creating a new project, if you can't see the 2D and 3D templates. 💁 But these changes aren't "completely different"..? It's just a minor UI overhaul hehe. 🙂 Everything is in the exact same place as in my video. I can definitely understand how it can feel overwhelming and throw you off when you are learning a new skill like game dev, and the guides that you watch are slightly different. But honestly, Unity hasn't really changed in any meaningful way which should make you think my video is outdated. 🤨 The minor changes I listed, shouldn't throw you off to the point where you can't figure out how to start a new project. I haven't used Gdevelop before, but I think the real issue here is that you are used to a much simpler game engine, and because you are now jumping to something slightly more complex, it overwhelms you quite a bit. My best advice is to just follow the lessons one at a time, and try to keep an open mind. Unity is considered one of the easiest game engines to get into, and really isn't that hard to learn. 🙂
