  • Hey guys! Welcome to what was supposed to be the first in a two part St. Patrick's Day project that's late so now it's just a Sunday upload...also I'm Irish all year round so it's fine. :D
Today we're talking about The Magical Legend of the Leprechauns (Night One) because apparently this was a two part event for Hallmark in 1999.
This is a very fun and very weird movie about the rivalry between the fae and leprechauns...there are also other Irish folk figures in it but I forget which ones. I'll post part two soon enough but until then I hope you enjoy this video.
Thanks for watching and hanging out in my little corner of the internet. Stay safe and have a great day/night/unit of time. I'll see you in the next video...bye!

I think the thing with the chick passing out at the sight of leprechauns is simply.. well, as an example.. you can hear about ghosts and believe in them your whole life, but it's an entirely different thing to meet/encounter them.
Even if she was raised in a culture that mentioned leprechauns in folklore, doesn't mean she was ready to actually see them.

  • @AntonWongVideo

wait, the COUSIN of the fairy princess starts brawling the Leprechauns because of their historic rivalry? This is DEFINITELY Romeo and Juliet
It's like the writer was on some substance when pitching to Hallmark:
Writer: Okay, so, it's just a simple story of a greedy businessman moving to a small town to develop it but that all changes when he falls in love with a firecracker of a woman and--
Producer: Perfect, that's all we need--
Writer: But, there's this whole other story of Romeo and Juliet but with Leprechauns and Fairies. AND the Leprechauns can fly but only when they're in love!
    Producer: ...uhm, couple of thoughts...

I think the Flying Bark Productions, Jonathan M. Shiff Productions & Australian Children's Television Foundation playlists was some of my fav created playlists i've made on my channel. Most of the other Aussie tv/movie productions, even some animation studios idk too much about, but they are some i know more.

Ya know, considering this is 1999, and a low budget hallmark movie, those tree people aren't that bad. In my opinion the bubble animation was worse than them.
While I love reboot (the 3d animated kids show and it's 200% not the animators fault and it's been talked about how they were working on making a 3d animated show since 1984, were told they can get a tv showing since 1991, and were only finally allowed on air after a bunch of censorship changes by the studio in 1994, with a new tech that really hadn't taken too many steps forward). It was around the same time as this, it looks pretty good.
Sure some parts of the face are a bit more rubbery than that wood texture they got, the way that one arm when he points and bends it isn't the best but they took the time to mimic the bark of the trees in the shot, they even adjusted the lighting accordingly. While it's not beauty and the beast 3d levels there, it's not too far from it either.
In all honesty, I wouldn't be shocked if the tree men ate quite a bit of their budget.
