It will happen! Catholics call it the triumph of the immaculate heart of Mary, or the reign of Jesus through Mary, the period of peace, divine will era. As the first coming of Jesus came through Mary, so will the second coming happen again through Mary.

On that positive note, the filioque has been investigated quite thoroughly by both sides. The common ground that was briefly agreed upon at one point is that both Catholics and Orthodox can get behind the phrase, “From the Father, THROUGH the Son.” This phraseology was briefly used by both sides before international politics severed its usage. There are theological distinctions, but the experts are currently optimistic that this particular issue, (the filioque) can be resolved by the verbiage above. There are other issues that are trickier to handle, but this one is much more likely to be agreed upon in our lifetimes. It would result in a change of word usage in the creeds, but no change in theology. The other issues would require one side or the other to yield to changes in underlying theology, which is much harder to stomach.

So it seem perfectly fine to say both things
We're 24 rites And we all Catholic Churches are united in One while Orthodox are divided and hate each other
@@hermanramos5919
The Orthodox are united by the Orthodox Faith, Holy Tradition and the Holy Ecumenical Councils, and by Communion. Orthodox from different traditions don't hate each other, that's ridiculous. Disputes existed since the dawn of the Church (the fight between Saint Peter and Saint Paul). There were breaks in communion, even with the Church of Rome, way before the Great Schism.
Now, the Roman Catholics are united by jurisdiction (the Pope), but still are divided on faith and practice: Continuists (Pro Vatican II), Traditionalists (Pre Vatican II), Sedevacantists (Anti Vatican II), Charismatics (Pentecostal Catholics), Conservative Catholics, Liberal Catholics, Pro LGBT Catholics (i.e. those in favor of Fiduncia Supplicans), etc.
@@hermanramos5919Very well said brother!!
Filioque is actually a translation problem not a theological one. Let me explain.
The reason why the filioque is absent in the greek (both greek catholic and orthodox) creed is because the verb meaning "proceeds" is different. The greek verb, ἐκπορευόμενον, means "makes to go out from" and implies divine origin. and as such, adding "and the son" *would* be heretical. The latin creed uses the verb "procedit" which literally means "proceeds". It does not directly imply that the Holy Spirit's divine origin is the father and the son, but rather says that he simply comes forth from the son and is not sent by him.
The Catholic and Orthodox churches even agree on the theology. The Holy Spirit's divine orgin (ἐκπορευόμενον) is the Father, but he "proceeds" (procedit) from the Father and the Son. As he does come forth from the son, but he is only sent forth from the father *through* the son.
Not to mention, dictionaries didn't exist and while some church fathers spoke both greek and latin, they weren't linguists and it's probable that some words were not 1:1 translations. To add salt: Latin and Greek are closely related enough that bishops who didn't speak fluent latin could possibly misunderstand filioque and apply it to their greek verb mistakenly and not see that procedit means something different
Thats right but it was and is theological problem and catholics still today defend tte filioque. The western church at that time (great schism 1054) also held the view that they changed it to better because even today eastern and western churches has the same issues.
Orthodoxy: Holy Spirit PROCEEDS from the Father through the Son.
Catholic: Holy Spirit PROCEEDS from the Father AND the Son.
May our Lord Jesus Christ bless you and keep you safe ☦︎✝
@@jeremiasitkonen9322 I deleted my old reply to correct my statement. I *know* the catholic church agrees theologically. The catholic church teaches (albeit not loudly) that the source of his divinity is the Father, but he is sent from the father in the Son's name (or through the son). We just like to emphasize that he does come through Jesus. So he does proceed from the son, but his divinity begins at the Father.
A further explanation of the langauge used would be like this: if I sent you a letter, that letter proceeds (ἐκπορευόμενον) from me. But that letter proceeds (procedit) from me and the mailman. (I'm not calling Jesus a mailman, I am simply explaining the language used, nor am I saying Jesus is ONLY an instrument for the holy spirit and that's all he does)

qui ex Patre Filioque procedit.
However, I will ask my priest to triple check this, but I am nearly 100% sure we agree.

Ok brother, no need to kick us while we're down.
I'm not kicking anyone, merely stating the obvious. Orthodoxy is the fullness of the 1 True Orthodox Katholic Church, the protestant Roman Catholic church is the fullness of man made heresy followed by Luther, Calvin etc to today's flavor of the moment and age or TV preacher. Glad to see more converts to Holy Orthodoxy so please join us
Firstly the “ Roman Catholic “ church you refer to the western Latin rite , one of over 20 different rites ; most of who follow the liturgical tradition of the orthodox and eastern oriental churches . Which makes up the one holy apostolic Catholic Church . This very universality is one of the signs of the true church . No other church has this universality
I assume you’re also a catholic (God bless, brother). I want to add to your comment: The Eastern Orthodox Churches are (mostly) in official communion with one another and we don’t want to strawman them as overly nationalistic and divided (though they can be, but this is against true Orthodox teaching).
You still make an important point. Pray for both of our churches.
That “universality” you western heretics call was just the papal institution acting as tyrants to exercise worldly power like some sort of emperor, nothing more.

The Catechism lists 7 Liturgical rites; Latin, Byzantine, Alexandrian, Syriac, Armenian, Maronite, and Chaldean. Altogether there are 24 Churches, in full communion with each other, and the Pope.
In Ethiopian Orthodox we also believe that virgin mary was preserved from original sin.
As an Ethiopian Orthodox Christian myself, this’s actually inaccurate. The church doesn’t have a conclusive view on the immaculate consumption. For instance, the previous patriarch abune paulos wrote in his Princeton university dissertation “She (Virgin Mary) is two-fold virgin, i.e., virgin both in body and soul, who, though not "immaculate" or free from original sin, yet was all-holy, pure, and chose to actively participate in the saving work of God, His incarceration”. Many ancient church fathers and scholars of the church also taught against the doctrine immaculate conception.
She was born of sinful people, sin begets sin , not holiness. We honour Mary for obedience to receive the Savoiur into her womb but nothing more.

I think we all pray, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, that we may, somehow, be reunited one day, and that our Protestant brothers and sisters may learn the errors of their ways and come back to Apostolic Christianity. Only then will we all live in harmony as Jesus intended.
Jesus himself was never is Christian. He just reminded his people to worship their creator and their creator only
Follow Jesus.
Stop following man.
Become a Christian today, Catholic.
I have heard that, although the filioque is a difference, both Orthodox and Catholics can define both positions in a way that make them almost(if not) exactly the same
1. Papal Infability is in the Bible Christ instructed the Church to preach everything he taught (Matt. 28:19-20) and promised the protection of the Holy Spirit to “guide you into all the truth” (John 16:13). That mandate and that promise guarantee the Church will never fall away from his teachings (Matt. 16:18, 1 Tim. 3:15), even if individual Catholics might. Infallibility is not the absence of sin. Nor is it a charism that belongs only to the pope. Indeed, infallibility also belongs to the body of bishops as a whole, when, in doctrinal unity with the pope, they solemnly teach a doctrine as true.
2. Filioque is a language difference with latin and greek. We as catholics believe that the father is the cause of the Holy Spirits and he proceeds through the Son which basically means from the father and the Son. We dont and will never believe in double procession.
3. Immaculate Conception was always teached and is the truth Full of Grace always. You should attack your own eastern orthodox fathers like gregory palamas that teached the immaculate conception.
All truth dwells in the catholic Orthodox church the one true church founded by Christ is there where Peter is like all churchfathers teach us!! 🔑🇻🇦✝️
Well said, brother!!!!!!!!
Interesting
1. The Pope isn't the incarnation of the Church.
2. Then change the creed accordingly. Filioque means "and the son", not "through the son".
3. We Orthodoxs, including Palamas, have a very different view on the original sin than you have.
@@tepesobrejac4360 my friend, what are you saying? The pope is not the incarnation of the Church, he is the successor of St Peter
@@childofGod999
The person I replied to argued for papal infallibility by referring to Bible verses that affirmed the infallibility of the Church: ("Christ instructed the Church to preach", "guarantee the Church will never fall away"). Supporting the infallibility of the Pope by referring to the infallibility of the Church can only work IF the Pope and the Church can be considered as one and the same. If by "Church" we can mean "Pope" and vice-versa. Otherwise, the Pope is just a bishop out of many, a portion of the Church that can get things wrong, and only an Ecumenical Council could be infallible when reaching unanimous consent.
Well, neither it is said in Bible that Mary inherted or did not inherited tge original sin, neither it is stated that she sinned in her life, but it is truly declared that ALL humans have sinned and need the Grace of God Jesus Christ to be saved. So according to the holy scriptures Mary was inneed of Christ's redemptive and vindicative sacrifice just like us. The only person who was truly righteous was Jesus, and his righteousness has made us righteous, not ours
Jesus was human. U fail

I think we’re so similar that it’s silly to be two separate churches. I think the only true thing keeping the churches separate is the Pope bc the rest could just be kept to one’s personal opinion but even the papacy hasn’t declared anything dogmatic in almost 75 years. I just hope that when the end times come we can be at each others side instead of at each others throats

Remember, the Bible wasn’t written with verse number. That was added later on by the church (Catholics). If you read it without verses you are reading a continuous letter by Saint John and the early church believes the woman is Mary because she gave birth to him. Literally. I’m not saying this to convince you. Just telling you why Catholics, orthodox, and the first Protestants believe that. With that said, Catholics believe that Mary was born without original sin. That doesn’t mean didn’t later sin. Orthodox believe she didn’t sin but was born with original sin. Just consider how many Christian denominations originate from Catholics… only that means a lot …! May God bless the orthodox church who preserved the same faith from the Apostles till today
All denominations come from the eastern orthodox church....
I’m a Presbyterian trying to understand orthodoxy and Roman Catholicism, where in the bible is the concept of anyone but Christ being sinless? I thought one of the main points of the gospel is that being sinless and living a sinless life was unique to Christ, hence the reason his and only his sacrifice is sufficient for our salvation
This is reffering to the original sin, which the Lord didn't inherit.
@@stefanspinu434 I understand that, but if Mary inherited original sin do you think she would have abstained from sin her whole life? How is that even possible for a human being to do knowing that we have sinful reactions to certain situations that we can’t help a lot of the time due to the inheritance of sin from Adam. Also if she lived sinless, what effect did the fallen nature even have on her character? Genuinely want to understand, all my questions are out of curiosity and love ♥️
If you really want to know you need to reach out to Catholics you tuber. Not on a short of an Orthodox Christian.
@@jhausa8274 the effect of original sin isn't that you will sin, but predisposition to it for the entire human race. It's not her sin, but she suffers from consequences of it. Even if it had no effect on her, it was still there and is the reason why she first physically died. The Lord only dued after saying "it is done" commanding when he would give up his spirit.
Sinlessness doesn't equate a creature with divinity. Both Adam & Eve were sinless in the garden before the fall. Christ was able to save us not just because he is sinless but because he is the God-Man.
Sin isn't normal or natural, it is abnormal, disordered and is what marred the image of God in us. We are all called to be Sinless, to renounce it, turn from it, and not to sin. We are all given the graces by God to achieve this.
The Blessed Virgins preservation from the Stain of Original Sin is a natural consequence of her role as the New Eve (Nova Eva). The parallels between Eve & Mary are many and all the Church Fathers write at length about this:
A sinless virgin had a role in our fall (Eve) - so also, a sinless virgin has a role in our regeneration. Eve's Virginity lacks the fertility of faith and brings our fall. Mary's Virginity is theologically fertile and brings about our salvation in the God-Man Jesus Christ. Both are receptors of messages, Eve received a message from the serpent and brought forth disobedients. Mary receives a message from Galadriel, obeys, and brings forth in her womb our salvation. Eve was born from Adams side, and the new Adam, Christ, is born from the New Eve in the order of grace. Eve was a subordinate participating agent in our fall. Mary is a subordinate participating/co-operating agent in our salvation. (The action of restoration is the work of Christ's sacrifice alone), but his mother has her part to play in God's plan. Just as both male and female had a role in the fall, so in the order of grace, in the new creation, does a man & women have a role in our restoration & regeneration. - (Irenaeus, Justin Martyr, Tutullian, Augustine of Hippo).
Mary's Immaculate Conception is the origin & cause of her blessedness. She was simply conceived in a state of grace on account of her unique destiny as the mother of the God-Man & being the substance by which the invisible God was made visible. She is essentially normalised by an action of grace from God. She is the New Woman of the New Law, the daughter of Eve unfallen.
Her personal sinlessness is on account of her proximity to Christ. She is so relative to the incarnate one that it logically follows for her to be so set aside in holiness as to be sinless.
The BVM is biologically close to God through her motherhood, physically & emotionally close to God in life and in personal unionship with a God by the overshadowing of the Holy Spirit at the moment of the Incarnation. Because of all these factors combined, Satan just can't get at her. She is just endowed with grace, not through any merit of her own, but by and through the merits of her divine son. She is exempt from contracting sin by an action of grace, Christ is totally excluded from its taint because he is a preexisting divine person. That's the difference, and there is a theological difference between exemption & exclusion. - And thus is the protoevangelium (first Gospel) fulfilled: (Genesis 3:15) says, “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” - In order for the serpent to be defeated, the enmity must be total, and so the New Women (Mary) & her offspring (Christ) must be beyond Satan's grasps (sinless). Furthermore, Christ can not be in enmity with his own mother, from whom he assumed his human nature. (All of us are born in enmity with God (the stain of original sin) and need rejuvenation in the waters of baptism - Mary was simply rejuvenated before she was born. She holds the same office in our restoration that Eve held in our fall - St John Henry Newman.
The Papal definition is simply that, a definition. It is entirely insufficient in explaining the doctrine.
Perfect video - accurate, precise, great graphics and visuals. Low-key monotone presentation. 👍

@@leiyeuktsui8449does that mean Jesus had original sin from Mary? Just wondering

Roman Catholic is corrupt. If you say with a whole heart you trust a pope , id consider repentance directly to Jesus . For i am the only way to the father .
A couple of the many reasons I can't see The evidence about the orthodox church are, its history and second its tribalism. And finally they stayed comfortably in their countries never taking the great commission seriously, there are no orthodox churches in America, the continent, Africa or East Asia, while you will find Catholics everywhere in the world. I have to call out the an error here, on the Filioque. The term "Filioque" was first inserted into the Niceno-Constantinopolitan Creed in 589 at the Third Council of Toledo, a national synod of Spanish Visigoths that rejected Arianism and embraced Catholic Christianity. That is not late in the first Milena. It’s was just 264 years after the Council of Nicene, and done to combat the Arian heresy in the Eastern Church.
As a devout Catholic I believe this difference between the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church will only be settled when the Lord Jesus Christ returns. Maranatha!
He will ask both of you:
Have I ever commanded you to worship me instead of your creator?
