You know your boy got your back with the lore dump. ;) Cutting the Ring from Sauron's hand ended the battle because Sauron put so much of his power and his spirit into forging the ring, that he can't even take physical form any more without the ring. The reason Galndalf wouldn't take the Ring is because he's a Maiar, one of 5 sent to Middle Earth to unite the mortal races and protect the world from Sauron. Basically the 2nd tier of Angel in the LotR universe. Sauron was also a Maiar, but he was the chief lieutenant in service to Morgoth. Morgoth was one of the Valar (basically 1st tier of angels or archangels) and was basically the equivalent to Lucifer in the LotR universe. He was the first created and most powerful of the, and he rebelled against the creator and all of the others out of his jealousy/desire to be able to create and rule over things like his maker. After Morgoth's defeat, Sauron took up his mantle and continued his crusade to dominate the world and bring it under a single order out of the perceived chaos Morgoth felt had been pointlessly made by the creator. There's a massive amount of back story there, but it's not needed to understand what's going on in LotR. Anyway, at this point only 3 of Maiar sent to Middle-Earth are left. If Gandalf, Saruman, the other remaining Maiar, or any of the OG powerful Elves like Galadriel (who was born in and once lived among the Valar and the Maiar in the blessed lands of Valinor) took up the Ring, they would be just as powerful and terrible as Sauron. It would basically just trade one tyrannical would be dark ruler of the world for another. One thing that kind of ticked me off, was how they changed Isildur's motivation. In the books he actually wanted to destroy the ring and was on the way to do just that. But he was ambushed by orcs and the Ring slipped off his finger since it did have a will of it's own and didn't want to be destroyed. In the original material he never refused to destroy it, he was simply killed before he had the chance to actually destroy it. As far as Gimli being against the Elves carrying the ring, there are literal thousands and thousands of years of hatred and mistrust between elves and dwarves due to massive screw ups and betrayals on both sides of that specific equation. And considering the Elves were the one's who were originally tricked by Sauron to make the original rings of power in the first place, Gimili's concerns with elves having the One Ring wasn't unjustified given the history. More to come once you get to the other films naturally ;) You're going to love The Two Towers and Return of the King. Also, when you finish with this trilogy, you absolutely are legally required to go watch the Hobbit Trilogy.
IT GUUUUYYY🔥🔥🔥🔥 The muufken legend HIMSELF 🙏🏿...o wait wait wait you dropping knowledge gimme a sec to resd I'll be back...whooaaa wtf...why would they change Isilfurds bsck story do drastically. Fans of the book must of been upset because bring ambushed by Orcs and the ring "fleeing" sounds sooo much more in line with its lore..hmmm. so what were aragon reasons in the original books for joining the journey..to just avenge his fallen ancestor? Damn thank you for the Dwarf/ elf backstor...that does justify his actions..Damn..I gotta read the books
If Galadriel put on the Ring, she would ultimately succumb to Sauron. The vision of the Fair Queen was the Ring's temptation. Gandalf was the only one with the capability to free it from Sauron's grasp, to become the true ruler 'too terrible to imagine'. Fortunately, he was the wisest of the Maiar, so he didn't take it.
@@Perktube1 Eh, the Hobbit works great as a film for folks who haven't read the original books and/or aren't opposed to a bit of creative license for the sake of visual clarity and run time.
49:58 Complete silence and palpable tension in the (opening day) packed theater during this face off…not even popcorn crunching. Literally palpable tension. Then, as soon as Aragorn cut Lurtz’s head off, the place _ERUPTED_ in this guttural cheer of triumph. It was nuts. I couldn’t help myself but yell out and realized in that moment I was not alone (and realized how emotionally charged the room was leading up to it). It’s the first and only time I’ve experienced that degree of collective investment in a movie theater. (there were comparable moments in the next two movies, but nothing like that first one).
@@foxtaco My friend, I still cry watching other people react to these movies. And I love it, cause when people react to this with anything less than at least getting misty, I know they ain't feeling it as deeply as we do. Not only you were so invested in this world that you felt that way, you were actually following the characters and the plot quite well. Shows genuine interest, should I say love even for the movie? I enjoyed your reaction very much, I laughed and cried with you. And because this universe is a huge part of my childhood and thus myself, your respect and love for this movie earns you a follow from me. Can't wait for the next ones. Cheers!
In 2001 I was a 35-year old who'd been a Tolkien fan for over 20 years. I was so overwhelmed to see this thing finally brought to life in brilliant live-action, I was getting weepy as soon as the Intro started 🤣 But fair warning if this one brings tears to your eyes you'd better have an emotional support animal or a therapist on hand or something when you watch Return of the King.
No matter how many times I watch these movies I'll never get over Boromir's scene especially in his final breaths of acknowledging aragorn as his king.
Heck, yeah. Band nerds, represent! 😂 (2nd chair flute) The score is so perfect in these movies. I'll be looking forward to your reaction to one particular piece in the last movie.
When they did the filming, they filmed scenes from all three movies at the same time. They started in 97 with planning and pre-production (making the sets and costumes and weapons) for almost 2 years before starting official filming in 99. They put a LOT of love and care into the production, and it obviously shows.
New Line Cinema took a huge gamble in greenlighting the funding of all 3 movies from the start and trusting a virtually unknown Director who had hitherto only done a few low budget horror flicks. Amazing and not repeated. Denis villaneuve had to complete pt 1 of Dune before the studio would put funding up for part 2.
@@revbenf6870 "Director who had hitherto only done a few low budget horror flicks. " Umm, excuse me, but Peter Jackson had hitherto received massive critical acclaim, an Oscar nomination, and wins in many international award contests for *_Heavenly Creatures._* Not some "low-budget horror flick."
The other movies will not disappoint you. They are just as good, if not a little better. And pause as much as you want, we want to hear what you think of the movie. Most people who watch reactions do so to see others experience things they like. We want to see you and your thoughts, and see you experience this masterpiece of a triology.
Boromir's last six words always tear me up. He's acknowledging that which he derided back at the Council of Elrond when Legolas revealed Aragorn's true name and lineage.
I’m only half through your reaction but you’re the BEST kind of reactor! Intuitive, intelligent, and empathetic. You really appreciated the movie and experienced it just as Jackson wanted you to, can’t wait for more 😊
When my mum read me the fellowship of the ring as a child after loving the Hobbit, Gandalf’s fall absolutely shook me. I couldn’t even go on with the story. I needed like a week off before I was ready. Such an epic moment.
I gotta say first and foremost, I absolutely LOVE that you pause the movie during your review, so many other reviewers try to talk over the movie then miss critical exposition and then spend the rest of the movie asking stupid questions that the movie already answered and it drives me nuts. Love your reaction, glad you loved the movie, looking forward to your reviews of the rest of the trilogy on this channel.
"Its gunna be hard to top how this movie is making me feel" thats the most mind blowing thing about the trilogy it only gets better and better all the way to the end
Tolkien showed me from a young age that emotions and love are manly. Your empathy is exactly why I love watching youtube reactions to the LoTR. The emotions you felt welling up in you is human nature. Tolkien did an incredible job of making his story timeless and hitting the core of the human heart. Forever in the existence of our world, the impact tolkiens writing will have will be relatable. We all have hearts, and evil is really out there, but its what you choose to do with the time you are given :)
Wonderful reaction! And don't worry about stopping. People talk over movies and end up confused later on. I can't remember if this was the extended version or not, but I recommend them for the next two. They flesh out certain characters and their motivations better. Not sure who the young man is at the very end, but prayers up for his loved ones. RIP.
With how quickly you catch onto the nuances and find greater meaning in things, it’s safe to say you’ll really enjoy the next two movies. Like most said, the Extended Editions are highly recommended-and we reaction watchers don’t mind you posting two parts to one movie here :) Cheers, and may the blessings of Elves, Men, and Free Folk go with you!
It’s worth it. Everyone should react to the extended edition. They left out so much important character development and lore out of the theatrical cut.
True. I actually prefer the theatrical cut for Fellowship, and then Extended for the final two. It also makes the first one slightly less daunting for new viewers.
@@Jaasau Thing is though when I watch new viewers take on the extended edition FOTR right out of the gate pretty much invariably they are like what? That's it? It's over already? I need to watch the next one, now.
You're absolutely right! They took their time with these movies, especially the first one, so you really do get to know the characters and their relationships. It makes it such a more impactful journey. I wish more movies today did this.
Bless your heart, your emotional reaction to this movie has me subscribing. I have no idea how many times I've seen this trilogy, but I have cried every time. The Fellowship of the Ring has forever been my favorite of the three, but the others are just as good in their own right. These movies show so much of what is missing in our world today, honor, courage, principles, valour and what true friendship means. You were very eloquent and insightful throughout. Looking forward to seeing your reactions to the other two movies.
I thoroughly enjoyed this reaction! I love that you get so much of the story and the deeper meaning behind everything. I don’t mind the pausing at all. It’s great to hear your thoughts without you having to talk over the movie and miss something important. Also, I still cry even after 20 years! The friendship, loyalty, and courage of this story is amazing! My favorite movies by far. Subscribed (:
I’m so glad you hadn’t seen LOTR before so we could experience you watching it for the first time. You’re awesome. I’ve never seen someone react and catch this much of the nuance and underlying lessons the first time. And the frustration with Pippin into getting emotional about him acting as a diversion, we love to see it.
Hahaha thanks , literally Pippin took me on a Rollercoaster of emotions 🤣🤣 he showed so much courage at the end to help the team..smh love his character
@@foxtacoPippin is the youngest of the group, barely into adulthood by hobbit standards if I remember correctly, so his thoughtless antics make sense, but he’s got such a good heart!
“That’s some dynasty warriors type-“ Dang. That’s accurate. Sidenote: Don’t apologize for stopping. Your commentary is fantastic. It’s very insightful and great to listen to.
Dude, Thanks for your company! You are soo deep into this story we all here love so much! But you really need to watch extended versions of next parts. There are no filering moments there. The movie actually was not extended by the extended cuts, but it's the opposite, they were shrinked into 3 hours to be allowed for the theaters. So if you are interested in full experience and complete understanding of the story, you really want to watch complete versions.
A wonderful reaction to this story. Yes, Peter Jackson did a good job with this film but of course, the heart and soul of it came from JRR Tolkien. This story is from his very life, from the fact Frodo was an orphan as was Tolkien. To the principles of friendship and loyalty and loss. Tolkien lost all of his friends but 2 in World War I. He created the languages and the history that went with them over a 50-year period. I do encourage you to read the books or listen to audiobooks if you aren't into reading, it will take you to another world and help you live in this one.
This is so well said. Not wanting to do any sort of spoilers, I’ll just say that I think the heart of this entire story is summed up by Sam’s monologue about fighting for the good in the world. Of course, there’s innumerably more important truths about the nature of the world, friendship, loyalty, honor, etc. but the through line is that, at its heart, the world is good, even when it’s almost impossible to see. I’ve watched that monologue many, many times. I love your way of phrasing it; that getting lost in this world can help you deal with living in the real one.
This is the first of your reactions I've seen (thanks YT algo!). It is truly refreshing to see a man allow himself to show his emotions as you did. Carry on. I know you'll appreciate the (platonic ideal) love story between Frodo and Sam. I'll be waiting for the next 2 Check out the bonus features on the extended DVD sets. The amount of pre-production that went into filming all three together is simply unimaginable. 18 months of work before a frame of film was shot. This is one of the great works in the history of filmmaking
Your reaction to the Bilbo jump scare is literally every person who sees this the first time. I remember hitting the back of my seat in the theater. That shit was freaky as hell. I loved your reaction! It's so wonderful seeing someone love these movies still after all these years. They are a masterpiece. I'm subbed now, my friend! Can't wait to watch your next two reactions, it's gonna be wild!
I love how you picked up on Frodo being "just a regular citizen". A lot of people seem to forget that /not pick up on that, because he is sorounded by heroes and princes and famous descendants on this journey, but all the hobbits are just ordinary guys doing what has to be done. In the book both Merry, Pippin and Sam know about the Ring before they leave the Shire. They know Frodo has to go, they know it's dangerous, and they want to help him. The friendship is SO strong! And they are all so courageous, even if they also make silly mistakes and get in trouble a lot. As you mentioned, they don't have much "streetsmarts"! 😉 It's also worth noting that the ages in the book is a bit different. So Pippin for instance is quite young. Hobbits "come of age" at 33 (equivalent of our turning 18), and Pippin is 29 in the books, so he is still not a proper adult, which explains a bit of his talent for getting in trouble, I guess 😂
Thank you for this, yes they nailed it with his character..it's so fun to go back and watch this again with added context. AND as far as picking up on things I jsut want to make sure I pay the proper respects to such a class.. it honestly demanded that from me..glad you enjoyed Anne
One often not mentioned scene that I really love is when Frodo is standing on the shoreline holding the ring just crying and distraught and you hear Gandalf in his head repeating his view on the duty one feels in times of crisis. (Again....the WWI experience of Tolkien finding its way into the storytelling...). I love the face acting by Elijah Wood there. I think it's his best scene in the entire series. You can just see the moment his switch comes on where he says in his head that it doesn't matter how he got there or the odds, he is going to see it through to the end!! Bruh....respect. We all find ourselves at times in our lives with personal challenges that just seem too overwhelming. People either have to find the courage in themselves, support and spiritual guidance and connection and just keep moving forward or give up. Again Frodo.....respect......Mr. Stabbedalot..😏.
What an awesome reaction! You are very genuine and sensitive and I like you pausing it to let the story sink in and make your commentary. I loved seeing you so hyped up for the next parts to which I'd HIGHLY RECOMMEND you watch the extended editions (btw I'm really sorry for this person you lost. ) Looking forward for the next video!
I can't tell you how many reactions to these movies I've watched. But I can tell you that you are the FIRST who understood the author's intent. He detested coercion in any form and all of his characters had to make their own choices and live with the consequences of those choices. Their friends were essential in supporting them, but never suborning them. Most reactors want Gandalf to save the day with wizardry, for Elrond to make Isildur throw the ring into the fire or push him in bodily, etc. I've owned the extended version of these movies for a very long time and have read the books once a year for even longer. Tolkien was a genius and Peter Jackson (though he felt the need to change some things) did a monumental job bringing the story to life.
Only 13 min in to your Reaction and I gotta say... you're picking up aalll the details and nuances of the story and the storytelling. I love watching smart people react to LOTR because they understand and appreciate so much right off the bat! keep the reactions coming!!!
Absolutely loved your reaction! Gandalf’s monologue to Frodo while they are in the mines of Moria is one of my favorite bits of this entire trilogy. I love that wisdom about all we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. I also love the way that the actor who plays Gandalf, Ian McKellen, reacts to that moment when Frodo declares that he will take the ring. The expression on his face in that moment is so poignant. In discussing the film, he said that his reaction in that moment was supposed to be as if a son was telling his father that he would be going to war. The father would be both proud, but aware of the terrible sacrifices that might come from such a choice. I am putting this to my own words, as I don’t have the direct quote. I really loved how perceptive you were about the film. You might enjoy reading the books that expand upon this story. And I’m also glad to see that you were commenting on the soundtrack. This is one of my favorite film soundtracks ever. And I mean that for the soundtrack of the entire trilogy. I look forward to seeing your reactions to the rest of the trilogy!
@@foxtaco I know that a lot of people will tell you that the behind the scenes, making of the film videos are a wonderful way to learn more about not just the story, but what went into the entire filming process. Each film has an extras section that is labeled like the appendices which the Lord of the Rings books has as well. And within these you will find a 15 to 20 minute video that delves into the music creation for each film. Since you are someone who is picking up on how wonderful the musical score is I just want to be sure that you know that these videos are out there and just add another level of appreciation.
Great reaction. I know what you mean, some of the scenes display such courage, like when Frodo steps up and offers to take the ring to Mordor, and such honor, like Boromir stepping up to defend the Hobbits and finally giving respect to aragorn, and accepting him as the rightful king, it's enough to make anyone emotional
Hello, Taco! I found you at The Two Towers, and backtracked so I could watch your whole reaction journey. You have LITTLE idea what kind of journey is ahead of you. But you're already seeing some of the power behind the emotions that this epic tale brings out in everyone. And yes, there's going to be a lot of fans who can't wait to share the lore with you. Hang on for the ride, we're with you!
'All we have to do is decide is what to do with the time that is given to us." This came out just a few months after the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. Those words really resonated.
Really enjoyed your reaction! Thoughtful, empathetic...and respectful. Honestly, that's how I see it when you pause the movie to share a longer thought rather than talking over it and missing things. You're being respectful to Tolkien's work, to the efforts of so many who created the movie, and to all the fans who, like me, watch each reaction with a mix of hope that we'll watch another fall in love and join our ranks and fear that something precious might be treated carelessly. Looking forward to your next reactions!
Oh man if this movie got you goin already, you have no idea what’s in store for you with these next two. Nothing better than watching someone become fully immersed in the perfect world that Tolkien created for us 🙏 great reaction man, can’t wait to join you on this journey!
Here's a little backstory that makes Gimli's initial hostility to Legolas in particular at the Council of Elrond make sense; Gimli is the son of Gloin, one of the dwarves that accompanied Bilbo on his adventure 60 years ago. Legolas is Prince of Mirkwood, son of the Elvenking Thranduil of Mirkwood. During Bilbo's adventure, Thranduil had the dwarves, including Gloin, imprisoned for really no just reason except happening to be in Mirkwood and being less than immediately forthcoming about what they were doing passing through, a scrape Bilbo had to get them out of (one of many.) Gloin, and the other survivors of Thorin's Company, thus have no especial love or kind thoughts for Thranduil, they have something of a grudge, which Gimli inherited. In fact, the only reason the Dwarves of Erebor have a peace with the Elves of Mirkwood following that grudge is because Thranduil's army helped them at the Battle of Five Armies after the Orcs showed up... and thus they consider the grudge settled but withhold friendship and the two groups have nothing to do with one another. Gimli essentially has every inherited reason to hate Legolas, which makes their eventual practically-brothers inseparable friendship all the more heartwarming.... especially since that friendship goes an _incredible_ way towards mending that broken bridge between Elf and Dwarf. The reason Hobbits in general are resistant to the Ring's corruption is because it whispers in your ear, it inflames your pride and ego. It promises you power, conquest, glory, destroyed enemies and riches and long, long life, it uses these as the levers to influence you. But, uh... Hobbits literally _don't want any of that crap._ They are humble, and down to earth. They don't want power, they damn well wouldn't know what to do with power if they got it, it'd just be a bloody nuisance. Conquest? Why would they need that? What would they feel the need to conquer? They have their little Shire and that's more than enough for them, they don't want any more or need any more. What glory do they seek? None. They really just want to be quietly left alone to their simple little lives, you can keep your glory, thank you. Destroyed enemies? What enemies do they have that need destroying? None, that's the answer. The closest thing a Hobbit has to a personal enemy is some person they don't like, and they can live just fine without destroying them on just socially snubbing them instead. Riches? Same as power. What is there to spend a shitton of gold on in the Shire? Nothing much. Two small chests of gold saw Bilbo comfortably enough through 60 years! Long life? They already kinda have a decently long life, and they're in no way really afraid of dying of age, in fact, they see that as the best ending, dying old and gray comfortably in your sleep (preferably after an excellent few meals and good smoke one last time.) The Ring literally has _no idea_ how to move the levers around in a Hobbit's head. All these levers usually work on everyone who has borne it, but on a Hobbit, it's like trying to cut down a tree with a fish. It just doesn't work, and the whole time the Ring is scrambling to find _some way,_ some mental button that _does something,_ but all it can manage to do is make Frodo and Bilbo _need it_ as hard as it can. In the end it finds a way to start influencing Frodo, mostly his fear and unsurety.
Wow, just found this video and your channel today, and this has got to be my favorite reaction to these movies I’ve ever seen. I love how intuitive you are about the little details and developments, and how invested and genuine you are with your reactions to this story. Can’t wait to watch the rest. Brilliant.
WHen my dad (HUGE Lord of the Rings fan) took his friend Rick and his friend's wife Melissa to see this, Melissa legit had to walk out of the theatre for a moment when Boromir died. She didn't know a thing about the books or lore at all, and didn't even like fantasy movies, but Boromir's death broke her. Boromir only failed to temptation because of his SYMPATHY and his despair at seeing his people failing and those he loved in danger of death. He was not perfect but he was human and very relatable.
This was a wonderful reaction, and thank you for that. But when I watched it I had tears in my eyes the whole time because you look and sound and act exactly like one of the best friends I ever had. He was smart and wise and funny and one of the kindest people I have ever known. He talked me out of killing myself half a dozen times -- I owe my life to him. He's been gone almost a year and a half now and there hasn't been a day that's gone by that I haven't hurt because he's not in my life anymore. So watching this I cried for all the good times and the bad, for all the laughter and the fights, for all the love and wisdom and joy that died for me when he did. RIP Kim. I miss you.
I swear on everything I love..my mother was going to name me KIM..this is a chilling and a beautiful comment wow..I'm sorry for you loss 🙏🏿 and I'm glad you're still here brother R.I.P Kim
@@foxtaco Thank you. I'm a brand new subscriber. I'll be watching every video you put out, though I suspect my vision will be a little blurry sometimes.
yeah, that's Ian McKellan who played Magneto in X-Men, and played as Gandalf in this. and Hugo Weaving who played Agent Smith from The Matrix played Lord Elrond. I was so excited when I found out they were both in this and as the good guys!
It is the most well made movie ever. It cannot be topped. Even with the sequels. It is the truest to the books and the emotion it invokes is just amazing. The next two are also amazing, but seeing this in the theater was life changing.
They don't make it obvious in the movies, but Bilbo was one of the few hobbits who knew a lot about the history of Middle Earth, the earlier War of the Ring, Sauron and his master Morgoth (whole lot of other stories just in those few names). He passed the information down to Frodo, so with Bilbo out of the picture, Frodo was likely the only other hobbit in The Shire that truly understood the danger. It is one of the reasons the book version had him delaying leaving for a number of months after the Ring's true nature was discovered.
I remember reading these books when I was a kid in the 1970s... I waited a long damn time for somebody to make a film about it... Then Peter Jackson came along and actually put the amounts of respect and details to this EPIC storyline as to be worthy of it. ❤ 🏆 👣 🎥 Samwise Gamgee is absolutely and utterly the MVP of the trilogy. Samwise the brave . "RUDY RUDY RUDY" 😆 🏈 LOL
Great reaction. So emotionally honest, sensitive and sincere. Your takes and commentary was intelligent and thoughtful. You don’t always see that level of depth with reactors.

I’m new to your channel thanks to your Band of Brothers reactions, and I was absolutely thrilled when I saw you did these. I love the full trilogy, but Fellowship has somehow become dear to me over the years, to the point that it’s one of my top comfort movies. So watching you falling in love with it, and the characters, hearing you say it’s a perfect movie.. I want to reach through my screen and hug you. It makes my heart so happy. I hope you get a chance to see these in theaters someday. It’s not unheard of for them to release them for special theater events. I was in high school when they came out in theaters and it was so awesome; it was the first time Hollywood had done anything of such a huge scale. The LOTR trilogy set the bar that all the other trilogies and multi-movie franchises have grown from.
You broke my heart with those pictures at the end. Condolences bro. This movie, I’m sure, meant even more to you because you know loss. 🙏🏽 Love your mind and your attention to details. I was one who saw the trilogy in the Movie theater… and even still, you said things and expressed things that I never considered! Wish you were born in our era! Yes bro...my brother is fresh on my mind EVERYDAY..and losing him definitely makes me cherish seeing the bonds between characters more..thank you for this comment 🙏🏿
Amen, reason why I stopped at your channel is because I love LOTR… but also because you actually favor my best friend who passed around October 2000. Then I saw the pics of your loss. I’m shocked. What a beautiful reaction - thank you! I love how you paused the video, so that you could share your thoughts and observations without talking over the film and missing important stuff (like so many other reactors do!). Your perception and appreciation of this masterpiece is wonderful. And never apologise for showing emotion ... anyone who can get through LOTR without shedding a few tears (or many!) needs help! 😜 Looking forward to watching the rest of the series through your (rather gorgeous!) eyes 🤩
You made me re-fall in love with this movie with your insightful comments and wonderful emotional reactions. And I'm already a massive fan who visited all the filming locations in New Zealand. Also: thank you for pausing the movie when commenting, it's always such a pet peeve of mine when people talk over important scenes... ^^'
That's what it's all about 😁 connecting and sharing my experiences with you guys..and hopefully allowing you to have that feeling when you first saw these beautiful movies..all over again . Thank you for this comment
I don't know if anyone has mentioned about the films but they were filmed simultaneously as Peter Jackson, the director, managed to get enough funding, 300 million, to be precise, to film them all together. Some actors filmed their last scenes first and first scenes last. But it's done amazing well.
Gandalf was one of the 5 wizards sent to middle earth. You can think of them sort of like angels. Saruman was the leader. He looked down on the others, including Gandalf, and never took them seriously enough. Strangely enough, the Balrog and Sauron were the same type of creature. You can think of them as "fallen angels".
Tolkien is truly one of the greatest wordsmith's of all time.. I'm so glad these movies were made at a time and with the skill they deserve to give them justice.. you're a great reactor, intelligent, perceptive, empathetic.. remember to, when applicable, allow yourself to be taken away by the 'magic' of it all.. some things don't require a logical explanation.. 😁👍 the Lady Galadriel is one of my absolute favourite characters.. I hope you intend to watch the Hobbit movies as well..
just fyi Foxy, all 3 movies in the *entire* trilogy were shot from October 1999 to December 2000. they'd have a few scenes here and there they'd shoot as pickups annually till 2004 (mainly as added scenes for the extended editions). the post production adding in all the CG and SFX only took about a year. they took a HUMONGOUS gamble filming the whole thing and releasing each movie a year after each other. can you imagine how big a debacle it would've been if Fellowship didn't do well at all?
I’m so glad to see you react strongly, these movies were a major part of my teen years and it’s wonderful to see others feel so deeply about the stories and characters.
RUclips has done me a great service recommending another reactor watching the greatest story ever written and the greatest triology ever filmed. Looking forward to watching you experience this. Edited to say; And the greatest score ever written too!
I'm not a huge fantasy fan. But Tolkien is on another level. His writing transcends fantasy and moves into the realm of mythology. This is an epic story and the drama carries you emotionally to places you didn't think you'd ever go.
DAMN, such a great reaction my friend. I've been binging LOTR reaction videos and I really appreciate the way you take the time to really let every moment sink in and get so invested in the characters and themes of this amazing story. You seem to have a better grasp of the deeper meanings and nuances than many reactors I've watched and I love that you let yourself be moved and get emotional when things get intense. Can't wait to watch you react to the next two films!
Your commentary is not only perceptive and thoughtful, but really funny. I'm enjoying this! And I'm sure others have encouraged you to watch the extended version of The Two Towers because it really gives important back stories on the members of the Fellowship and others you'll be meeting along the way.
Just found your channel. I'm a multigenerational geek so I grew up with these and some major memories are every Christmas Break going to the local small theater with my dad and seeing these when they came out. I was 8 when this one came out. To me it really is some comfort media. I know these movies forwards and backwards and devoured the multiple dvds of the extra behind the scene stuff for years. Watching all three extended versions has become almost a monthly thing for me because I honestly can't get enough. And now i get to enjoy others journeys as they experience something thats such a cornerstone to me growing up and my creativity. I promise you will not be disappointed in the next two. In fact there will be moments that hit even harder that many in this.
An excellent reaction and definitely one of the better ones out there. I really appreciate your comments and analysis as you go along. I think you are picking up on a lot more things than lots of other reactors do so well done! Can't wait for the next one.
Such an intelligent and enjoyable reaction video! We can tell that you're really paying attention and are actually enjoying and appreciating this masterpiece. Welcome 😊 Everyone's acting is phenomenal in these movies but I always feel Elijah Wood needs an extra praise given he was only 19 at the time.
I love how in tune you were with the movie! I have watched a lot of reactions and none got the meaning, the characters, and the story as much as you did! Picking up on all those details! Job well done man. These movies have so much meaning and thought process to it which make them so great! Each member of the fellowship even though not all together, all understood the task. It’s beautiful! Enjoy the rest of the movies!
Subscribed because I can't wait to see your reactions to the 2nd and 3rd films! I appreciate that you pause the movie to comment on remarkable moments, as most people would talk during a scene, and end up missing subtle reactions or significant details. Great commentary, and thank you!
Agree. I prefer the stopping to talking over. Reactors miss something and later, I'm mentally screaming, 'you'd've known it if you were listening instead of talking!'
Случайно выпало в рекомендациях ютуба, одна из самых эмоциональных реакций, так приятно видеть как кто-то наслаждается этим путешествием в средиземье! Ты крутой!
One of the best if not THE best reaction to this movie I've seen. I've seen way too many lotr reactions I care to admit. Looking forward to seeing your mind blown by the next two movies.
Fantastic reaction, brother! This is one of the very best reactions to Fellowship that I've seen. You absolutely reacted the way I did when I first saw it in the cinema as a 13 year-old. You catch things very well and grasp the gravity and emotion of the story & characters, and the effort and labour of love that went into these cinematic masterpieces. Subscribed and can't wait for your journey :) I hope you dive into some lore after the films etc. All the best, man! Thanks for your reaction!
Never forget that this story along with it's amazingly deep cosmos were imagined and devised in the very early 1900's, around 1920. It in addition to The Hobbit is one of the greatest, if not 'the' greatest, fantasy stories of all time.
Congratulations FoxTaco - I've watched about 20 different reactions to this film, and I think yours has been the best. Your questions are on target, your perception of the layers is spot on, and your pure emotion watching it is what I feel every time I rewatch. Kudos to you, can't wait for chapter 2!
one of the touches i greatly enjoy is that the ring is shown not only to have a will of its own, but it is also heavy and strange. it doesn't bounce like it should off bilbo's floor, and it weighs down frodo's hand when it drops from the tongs. it is a force unto its own and it twists everything around it, and i do think gandalf does have a healthy fear of it as well- or rather, he is quite wary about what it is capable of. that ring is tricksy and always attempting to find a way back to sauron. edit: fun fact- when i first watched this movie as a kid at about nine years old, i cried my eyes out for like an hour afterwards and had to go take a walk around the block to calm down. it still brings me to tears now, at thirty. there's no shame in crying over this movie!
Amazing reaction man…I love the pausing and your interpretation! Gandalf The Grey’s death was very sad indeed..it hurts every time I see it. you won’t even believe how incredible the next two movies are! Masterpiece!
Don't worry about pausing to mull things over. Plenty of Reactors out there will just keep talking over the action, then act confused about missing something later.
@@foxtaco I just finished, and that was trash…….. Nah Fr prob the best reaction to fellowship that I’ve watched, in terms of understanding the lore and feeling that it gives you, you killed it. Glad you had the captions on cuz reading it as well makes you remember stuff much more easily. I pretty watch everyone react to the movies, I saw the 3rd movie 3 times in theaters when I was 6 years old, i rewatch the trilogy at least twice a year, never gets old. P.S. Glad you mentioned the score because it’s actually unbelievable the amount of emotion it can give you, and somehow it gets even better. Howard Shore created possibly the best score of all time for (in my opinion) the best movies of all time
The fact that one sheds tears watching the trilogy (there will be more) shows the investment you now have in the story. You just won't believe the next two. As we say here in Texas; Y'all be safe.
“Wake up, Frodo” is much different than “Wake up, Neo” 😂😂 Man, Hugo Weaving’s career was on fire in this decade. 25:10 It’s always amazing seeing these insights off the bat. Bravo you to you, sir. You’re about to find out at the Council, but that chapter in the book is literally like 70 pages, and they go through all possibilities of ridding the world of the Ring. It of course came down to Hobbits, who are indeed resilient beings, as their main joys are so simplistic-food, ale, and pipeweed. They have no desire to hoard gold or rule the world, but a fully pantry and smoke ring puffing champion are probably what actually is the deepest desires of their hearts. 31:00 fun fact. Yes, he’s attached to it, but this isn’t Bilbo doing it, this is Frodo imagining that because he’s starting to become attached.
My parents named me after the books, and i grew up as the films were being produced, so i got to see them all in theatre and man, what an experience, esp for me personally. Always happy to see others experience something i hold so dear! i hope you enjoyed this and the rest of the movies.
You definitely need to do the extended versions. Some VERY important scenes to the story are in them. I'm loving your reactions to this. They get even better.
I gotta say, when you said, near the 40-minute mark, that you didnt know how anything in the next 2 movies could top this, I burst out laughing. I saw them in theatres, and I own the extended editions. First read the trilogy 35 years ago, and Tolkien's work sparked a lifelong passion in fantasy as a genre. I know youve watched the rest, I can't wait to see what you thought.
it's such a joy to watch someone really enjoy and appreciate this story for the first time. you're very astute and pick up on a lot of details. love the commentary, can't wait to watch the rest!
You have gained a subscription my dude you are awesome! Love this reaction to my favorite movie of all time. Love your dedication to what you do. You even liked almost every single comment you got! INSANE BRO
You know your boy got your back with the lore dump. ;)
Cutting the Ring from Sauron's hand ended the battle because Sauron put so much of his power and his spirit into forging the ring, that he can't even take physical form any more without the ring.
More to come once you get to the other films naturally ;)
You're going to love The Two Towers and Return of the King.
You might be slightly disappointed in The Hobbit. 😉
@@Perktube1 No spoilers here, but that scene was as laughable as that other scene:)
That’s amazing
I really appreciate that you pause the movie instead of talking over important dialogues. Thank you for the reaction!
Yeah, seriously
Don’t feel bad. Most of us were overcome with emotions. Seeing this in the theater, everyone was crying.
It brought all the emotions out of me
@@foxtaco As a grown man, if any trilogy can still make me ugly cry to this day, it's this one
A good 20% of the audience, anyway. The ones who read the books.
THE SMALLEST PERSON IN A ROOM FULL OF GIANTS
Man, you're gifted.
I appreciate the pause-comment rather than commenting while missing something
No matter how many times I watch these movies I'll never get over Boromir's scene especially in his final breaths of acknowledging aragorn as his king.
It was amazing
Never ever feel bad about getting emotional with a good movie, ESPECIALLY this one. The Shire theme always gets at least one tear from me
Heck, yeah. Band nerds, represent! 😂 (2nd chair flute) The score is so perfect in these movies. I'll be looking forward to your reaction to one particular piece in the last movie.
Band nerds unite 🙏🏿
Former concert band director holds his baton high to summon band need army!
@@rollomaughfling380 I stand corrected!! 🥴
"A great lesson that deserves not to be cut from the reaction". Very true. Great writing by Tolkien.
I have to fight to keep that section in but it had to stay ..HAD TO
The other movies will not disappoint you. They are just as good, if not a little better.
And pause as much as you want, we want to hear what you think of the movie. Most people who watch reactions do so to see others experience things they like. We want to see you and your thoughts, and see you experience this masterpiece of a triology.

I’m only half through your reaction but you’re the BEST kind of reactor! Intuitive, intelligent, and empathetic. You really appreciated the movie and experienced it just as Jackson wanted you to, can’t wait for more 😊
Thank you 🙏🏿😁
Definitely recommend the extended version for all of these movies. There's just so much more backstory and depth.🥰
I got you Allison
I highly recommend watching the extended editions (if you're not already) for Two Towers and Return of the King. You will NOT regret it.
I got you 🙏🏿😁
When my mum read me the fellowship of the ring as a child after loving the Hobbit, Gandalf’s fall absolutely shook me.
I literally laughed when he said that
Tolkien showed me from a young age that emotions and love are manly.
RIP.
Thank you I will look into them, yes my younger brother passed in January thank you for the prayers 🙏🏿

With how quickly you catch onto the nuances and find greater meaning in things, it’s safe to say you’ll really enjoy the next two movies. Like most said, the Extended Editions are highly recommended-and we reaction watchers don’t mind you posting two parts to one movie here :)
Cheers, and may the blessings of Elves, Men, and Free Folk go with you!
Thanks for reacting! I really think you’d enjoy the extended edition for the second movie as it gives Boromir a lot more backstory!
I may have to make that switch
It’s worth it. Everyone should react to the extended edition. They left out so much important character development and lore out of the theatrical cut.
True. I actually prefer the theatrical cut for Fellowship, and then Extended for the final two. It also makes the first one slightly less daunting for new viewers.
@@Jaasau Thing is though when I watch new viewers take on the extended edition FOTR right out of the gate pretty much invariably they are like what? That's it? It's over already? I need to watch the next one, now.
Yeah, def worthwhile, I'd say. Doesn't feel draggy or bloated.
Thank you Cindy 🙏🏿 more to come soon
I feel the same way although most people actually favorite the third movie I think :D
Thank you so much Angela 🙏🏿😁
Yeah I’m glad he paused. I hate reactions where they react to every little thing and miss half of what’s going on.
I'm saying 🤣you could literally 1V1000 in those games like NOTHING
Dude, Thanks for your company! You are soo deep into this story we all here love so much! But you really need to watch extended versions of next parts. There are no filering moments there. The movie actually was not extended by the extended cuts, but it's the opposite, they were shrinked into 3 hours to be allowed for the theaters. So if you are interested in full experience and complete understanding of the story, you really want to watch complete versions.
I got you 🙏🏿
A wonderful reaction to this story.
I will most definitely be reading these books🙏🏿..thank you for the comment and the knowledge
I'll be waiting for the next 2
Check out the bonus features on the extended DVD sets.
It's also worth noting that the ages in the book is a bit different.
Thank you for your condolences 🙏🏿 yes it seems like the majority of viewers would like to hear my thoughts on the extended versions
Thank you so much Rebeca 🙏🏿 I'm glad you're enjoying the reaction
Glad you enjoyed it🙏🏿..and I appreciate the info as well
@@foxtaco I know that a lot of people will tell you that the behind the scenes, making of the film videos are a wonderful way to learn more about not just the story, but what went into the entire filming process.
Thanks Irisblue..this move definitely DEMANDED respect some many great things to talk about
Oh man if this movie got you goin already, you have no idea what’s in store for you with these next two. Nothing better than watching someone become fully immersed in the perfect world that Tolkien created for us 🙏 great reaction man, can’t wait to join you on this journey!
Tolkien is interesting especially when you consider his life, and the wars he went through and the fact he fought in the first world war
Here's a little backstory that makes Gimli's initial hostility to Legolas in particular at the Council of Elrond make sense;
Gimli is the son of Gloin, one of the dwarves that accompanied Bilbo on his adventure 60 years ago.
Legolas is Prince of Mirkwood, son of the Elvenking Thranduil of Mirkwood.
During Bilbo's adventure, Thranduil had the dwarves, including Gloin, imprisoned for really no just reason except happening to be in Mirkwood and being less than immediately forthcoming about what they were doing passing through, a scrape Bilbo had to get them out of (one of many.)
Gloin, and the other survivors of Thorin's Company, thus have no especial love or kind thoughts for Thranduil, they have something of a grudge, which Gimli inherited.
Long life? They already kinda have a decently long life, and they're in no way really afraid of dying of age, in fact, they see that as the best ending, dying old and gray comfortably in your sleep (preferably after an excellent few meals and good smoke one last time.)
The Ring literally has _no idea_ how to move the levers around in a Hobbit's head.
This is by FAR the greatest reaction to this movie that I’ve ever seen! I can’t wait for you to watch and react to the other two!
My guy, this was the most astute, sincere, observant, genuine reaction for a first-time viewing that I have ever seen. Any easy sub.
Appreciate that Jake 🙏🏿 gold yoh enjoyed..I'll definitely try and have the next one ready soon
The Lord of the Rings score is the best soundtrack ever! And nothing can change my opinion!
It won Classic FM's recent movie soundtrack poll.
Wow, just found this video and your channel today, and this has got to be my favorite reaction to these movies I’ve ever seen. I love how intuitive you are about the little details and developments, and how invested and genuine you are with your reactions to this story. Can’t wait to watch the rest. Brilliant.
You will not be let down. Each movie is better than the last, in my opinion.
I'm not sure if I can handle that lol
Samwise Gamgee is absolutely and utterly the MVP of the trilogy.
Samwise the brave . "RUDY RUDY RUDY" 😆 🏈 LOL
Awesome reaction! You're in for an absolute treat with the rest of these movies
MY GUY 🙏🏿🙏🏿 appreciate you brother..definitely ready for the next ones
Great reaction. So emotionally honest, sensitive and sincere. Your takes and commentary was intelligent and thoughtful. You don’t always see that level of depth with reactors.
Thank you Benjamin 🙏🏿
By the way…I loved that you noticed Frodo taking ownership of the ring…no reactors ever point that out!
One of the best LOTR reactions I've seen and I've seen pretty much all LOTR reactions on RUclips. I always weep watching these masterpieces. The music by Howard Shore is also a character unto itself. So moving. I look forward to all of your reactions.
I appreciate that Byron and yes the music makes than jsjt complements it took on its own character
@@foxtacoYou're welcome my friend! You truly are astute and you really captured all the emotion and nuance of this film. You have real talent. Please keep making reactions.
Love your mind and your attention to details. I was one who saw the trilogy in the Movie theater… and even still, you said things and expressed things that I never considered! Wish you were born in our era! Would have been great to have you there when we didn’t have the internet to grant you foresight!!!
Great job bro. 💪🏾
Yes bro...my brother is fresh on my mind EVERYDAY..and losing him definitely makes me cherish seeing the bonds between characters more..thank you for this comment 🙏🏿
Amen,
reason why I stopped at your channel is because I love LOTR… but also because you actually favor my best friend who passed around October 2000. Then I saw the pics of your loss. I’m shocked.
But I’m glad I get to take this journey with you and your community. Cheers bro.
A little Wisdom someone told to me, never expect the pain to ever really leave. You have good days and bad throughout your life-you just learn to deal, live and become stronger with it with time. Stay in forward motion like you are!
💪🏾⛅️
@@marshallartist78 I appreciate that brother 🙏🏿
Thank you so much Kaptcha..just trying to do the trilogy justice
Your commentary is not only perceptive and thoughtful, but really funny. I'm enjoying this!
And I'm sure others have encouraged you to watch the extended version of The Two Towers because it really gives important back stories on the members of the Fellowship and others you'll be meeting along the way.
Thank you lol yes extended for sure
Maybe the best reaction I've seen to this movie. Great insights, you picked up on the twists of the story as good as anyone could hope to. Great job.
Two towers did not disappoint one bit
An excellent reaction and definitely one of the better ones out there. I really appreciate your comments and analysis as you go along. I think you are picking up on a lot more things than lots of other reactors do so well done! Can't wait for the next one.
Coming soon!!
Such an intelligent and enjoyable reaction video! We can tell that you're really paying attention and are actually enjoying and appreciating this masterpiece. Welcome 😊
Everyone's acting is phenomenal in these movies but I always feel Elijah Wood needs an extra praise given he was only 19 at the time.
Dude!! I watch dozens of LOTR reactions. You are my favorite man you had me clacking up. Great job man.
🙏🏿thanks bud
I love how in tune you were with the movie! I have watched a lot of reactions and none got the meaning, the characters, and the story as much as you did! Picking up on all those details! Job well done man. These movies have so much meaning and thought process to it which make them so great! Each member of the fellowship even though not all together, all understood the task. It’s beautiful! Enjoy the rest of the movies!
Thanks Igleski 🙏🏿
Subscribed because I can't wait to see your reactions to the 2nd and 3rd films! I appreciate that you pause the movie to comment on remarkable moments, as most people would talk during a scene, and end up missing subtle reactions or significant details. Great commentary, and thank you!
You're welcome David
Ты крутой!
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed
One of the best if not THE best reaction to this movie I've seen.
I've seen way too many lotr reactions I care to admit.
Looking forward to seeing your mind blown by the next two movies.
Thank you for the compliment Rin 🙏🏿..yea I'm pumped for the next ones
Fantastic reaction, brother! This is one of the very best reactions to Fellowship that I've seen. You absolutely reacted the way I did when I first saw it in the cinema as a 13 year-old. You catch things very well and grasp the gravity and emotion of the story & characters, and the effort and labour of love that went into these cinematic masterpieces. Subscribed and can't wait for your journey :) I hope you dive into some lore after the films etc.
All the best, man! Thanks for your reaction!
Thanks Kae🙏🏿..yea it was a blast to record
Never forget that this story along with it's amazingly deep cosmos were imagined and devised in the very early 1900's, around 1920. It in addition to The Hobbit is one of the greatest, if not 'the' greatest, fantasy stories of all time.
Nunca comento pero es la primera vez que veo una reacción de una persona que entiende esta obra maestra desde el comienzo, mis felicitaciones 😊
Thank you so much 🙏🏿❤️
What
30:31 😆😆😆 Amazing! Great reaction 💜 -x-
Congratulations FoxTaco - I've watched about 20 different reactions to this film, and I think yours has been the best. Your questions are on target, your perception of the layers is spot on, and your pure emotion watching it is what I feel every time I rewatch. Kudos to you, can't wait for chapter 2!
Thanks honestly the movie demands that much from the viewer..i just found myself appreciating every aspect of the movie
one of the touches i greatly enjoy is that the ring is shown not only to have a will of its own, but it is also heavy and strange. it doesn't bounce like it should off bilbo's floor, and it weighs down frodo's hand when it drops from the tongs. it is a force unto its own and it twists everything around it, and i do think gandalf does have a healthy fear of it as well- or rather, he is quite wary about what it is capable of. that ring is tricksy and always attempting to find a way back to sauron.
edit: fun fact- when i first watched this movie as a kid at about nine years old, i cried my eyes out for like an hour afterwards and had to go take a walk around the block to calm down. it still brings me to tears now, at thirty. there's no shame in crying over this movie!
Amazing reaction man…I love the pausing and your interpretation! Gandalf The Grey’s death was very sad indeed..it hurts every time I see it. you won’t even believe how incredible the next two movies are! Masterpiece!
First time viewing your stuff, I love how articulate and engaged you are. I'm excited to see more. Thanks for sharing.
Of course more coming soon although they do take some time to edit 🤣🤣..thank you for stopping by
Don't worry about pausing to mull things over. Plenty of Reactors out there will just keep talking over the action, then act confused about missing something later.
🤣🤣🤣🤣" then act confused " yoooo lol
@@foxtaco I'm a fan of pausing to talk 👍
Thanks 🙏🏿
Each movie is better than the last. Can't wait to see your reactions.
Not even half way thru the reaction and you’ve already killed it
😬😬..not sure if that's a compliment...I'll just believe it is lol
Howard Shore created possibly the best score of all time for (in my opinion) the best movies of all time
Thanks man 🤣 you had me in the first half lmao
The fact that one sheds tears watching the trilogy (there will be more) shows the investment you now have in the story. You just won't believe the next two.
As we say here in Texas; Y'all be safe.
Fellow Texan 🙏🏿
@@foxtaco Glad to know it.
I know youve watched the rest, I can't wait to see what you thought.
great reaction, you understand a lot of important points about the story.
Thanks Brandrikser 🙏🏿 glad you enjoyed the reaction
it's such a joy to watch someone really enjoy and appreciate this story for the first time. you're very astute and pick up on a lot of details. love the commentary, can't wait to watch the rest!
You have gained a subscription my dude you are awesome! Love this reaction to my favorite movie of all time. Love your dedication to what you do. You even liked almost every single comment you got! INSANE BRO
Also please watch extended versions!!!!
Trying to catch as many as I can. Glad you enjoyed the reaction
