My brother and I saw this in the theater. They said “You shall have my sword!” “And you shall have my bow!” “And my axe!” My brother immediately said, "and my HK!" Meaning his new HK handgun he'd recently bought. LOL I always remember that when I see this scene.
Things I love in life: 1. Watching the Lord of the Rings again and again. 2. Watching others experience the joy of seeing the films for the first time! Also, no other movie has ever made 9 blokes walking past a rock look so epic.
I super-lucked out and found a 6-disc set of the Hobbit and LOTR movies in a bin at Walmart. Now, one of those discs is pretty much always in my PS4. If I get bored and can't find anything, I just play whichever disc is already in. Never fails to draw me in. Even though I'd read the books at least 4 or 5 times through before the movies came out.
When the Company made the movie, they built the entire village of the Shire for real in New Zealand. It's still there! Applications for rent and mortgage available now!
Yes, right. Tolkien wanted to invent a rich english mythology as compensation for its sparseness. Almost all of British mythology is of french (Artus) origin, so he thought of a history, civilizations, idioms and very slowly over decades, middle earth was born. It never was meant as a child‘s book by him.
It occurred to me the other day that Peter Jackson being a horror director did TONS of work in these movies. There are some genuine moments of tension, and even a little horror sprinkled throughout. Giant spiders and monster-movie orcs, demons and wraiths and a treacherous little goblin man with schizophrenia.
Asia mentioned not being the "LotR" type going into this, and having seen enough reactions to this series at this point that I knew- as soon as I saw the expression of pure enchantment on her face as she looked out over the Shire- that she was hooked. This story is timeless, and the films are a wonderful introduction to it.
I... can't even begin to express how incredible this "movie" is. The Hobbit trilogy died sadly in production hell, and I don't think I would've appreciated del Toro's vision as much as I would've wanted to (he's a legendary visionary filmmakery and I lovey him)... but when PJ's behind the scenes (that... sounds wrong) clip of him telling his crew "This is real. We stumbled across the most accurate historical retelling of these events archaeologically and we're going to try to make a film about it" Now BEFORE that I was (super psychotic fantasy book fangirl here, Wheel of Time is my all "time" favourite, LotR a very very VERY close second) terrified. Saw rumors on the net back in the ancient day (when I still had dial up) that they were going to make a live action Lord of the Rings. I was with my best friend, HER best friend, and a guy we were both friends with (who I could beat in HEMA swordfights despite that being "his thing" and me giving him books on it like... bro, if you goin do dis den FACKING TRAIN, you're exceptional.........) Anyway sorry, I'm drunk. I don't remember the movie we were watching, we were in theatre, and it opens with Frodo stalking around doing his "no one knows it's here, do they. DO they, Gandalf?" And (the first FLICKING reveal of Gandalf walks into the literal frame) ..... Then it cuts to the black riders, and *THE BRAVEHEART SOUNDTRACK PLAYS* some super psychotic God and all good things bless that nerd managed to do that, everyone sits in the dark watching the rest of the film. I literally started squealing out loud when Gandalf stepped into frame "LORDOFTHERINGSLORDOFTHERINGSLORDOFTHERINGS!!!!" when Cass grabbed my arm laughing, and Rob asks later on why I freaked out. I freaked OUT because it actually LOOKED good, the acting was great, I LOVED Elijah Wood with a passion (fight me Flipper) and it just seemed so pitch perfect. Then 9:11 happened. And the movie that was already fully in production and very much at its final product landed right after that. And somehow, because apparently we always notice positive happenstance they say and we ignore everything else (which I disagree with).... this movie ends with Samwise standing there, looking off into the future, and the rest of the scene dissolves into all of us walking into a very dangerous distance. Not away, but towards. "....into the very fires of Mordor." (also, for "casual" nerds like me, the way they say "Mordor" is... mwah) YOU ARE NOT THE SUCKO! Unless you mean spikes suck, in which case they do when we step on them. Drunk? *smiles, hugs* Cracks me up that when I go to church the most Christian movies I make everyone try to watch are Matrix Tril and LotR
There is actually a reason why the Hobbits are the best keepers of the One Ring: They have no ambition, at least not one that the Ring can translate to corrupt them. Sure they'll EVENTUALLY start to fall to the Ring's influence, but only once it's worn them down a great ways. Basically This The Ring: "Use my power, and I shall make you the... greatest garlic farmer... in Middle-Earth?" Hobbit: "OR, I could just head over to the inn, have some cups, and ooh, pipeweed and brandy would be great, maybe with a lovely meat and cheese plate, and some good yeast rolls with garlic butter...." *continues going on about food for 40 minutes unbroken. Ring: *screams in frustration*
Seen about 20 other channels react to the trilogy. BJ is all over it. He’s getting every nuance and understands the plot and meanings more than any reactor I’ve seen so far. Bravo!
@@sachisachi7165 I mean, it's not like they have a giant poster of LOTR and only LOTR on their wall, it's a lot of posters of different movies, I doubt they've seen all of them.
Asia had me choking on my popcorn when she said "Why does he have to say it like that?" When Gandalf told Frodo about the ring. I laughed so hard I inhaled a popcorn kernel.😂😂
The more you learn about LOTR, you realize how amazing it is that Bilbo was able to drop the ring of his own free will. His ability to drop the evil he's carried for decades. Letting it go to travel on a new journey of adventure, for a final chapter of life into the light beyond the horizon, unburdened by a great evil...
@@jeannichols2459 yes but that's after decades of having it. It's bound to corrupt eventually and even then after calling it his precious, he was able to let it go When mere moments with it corrupted gollum to a point he killed the person closest to him
I haven’t read the book but did the Ring play a part in that? Like it knew it needed to be away from Bilbo to have more of a chance to getting back home? Now that it was awake and had heard the call, it needed to be in different hands?
@@Drummer4President just consider this for your opinion; would the ring want to leave him when bilbo was leaving his house on a journey all alone? Bilbo who struggled to drop it at the door - Old, feeble, and alone on a long journey with the evil ring... No, I believe the ring didn't want to be left behind at that point. In fact, being with bilbo would have only made it easier to take or find. Even more so with the hold it had over bilbo
@@DogmaticNonsense I wasn’t asking about reader interpretation or opinions. I was asking if the book made it clear either way whether the ring wanted to leave him or not? Because from my opinion, yes Bilbo would have been a choice target on the road, but he had also had the ring for some years without turning into golem. But he was starting to turn, so may have fought for it. So if it had wanted to stay, it could have been hoping to ensnare someone less weak willed than Bilbo, or Frodo even. I was just asking for clarification without having to read the book really 🙂🤷🏼
"Why's he gotta say it like that?" "Cuz it's an emergency" 😂😂😂 OK, finally headed over to Patreon so I can finally see full reactions. I am missing out on more gems like this lol
Not only is this one of the best trilogies ever produced but it has one of the finest scores for a film ever produced. Fun fact: The score was composed by Howard Shore who was once the musical director on Saturday Night Live.
@suprchickn7745 Exactly! But I wish they would've put more songs into the movies. I remember when I read the books, I wished I would know the melody of the songs. Like Tom Bombadil's song for example. When I heard that there will be a LotR remake, I was like:"Finally, I'll learn all the melodies!" And then they didn't include Tom at all. :'D But the music is so great. I have fond memories or learning to play the soundtrack on my saxophone as a young teenager. (Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean were my favorite soundtracks to play) And a few years ago, I was able to visit a concert where they played the LotR soundtrack live with an orchestra. And Billy (the actor of Pippin) was also there and he sang live. Such a funny guy. I still love the music. So nostalgic. It feels like home when you listen to it.
It's just tobacco. Book author Tolkien was as inveterate pipe smoker and brought pipe-smoking into his fantasy world. However, Miidli-Earth was supposed to be ancient Europe, so he didn't feel right using the Native American word tobacco, so he just called it pipeweed. The book was published in the 50s, and he had spent about 20 years writing it, so it would predate the common use of "weed" as slang for marijuana. When American hippies discovered LOTR and thought that everyone was getting high on weed all the time, Tolkien was not very happy.
Thank you. The movie's scriptwriters should not have called it "weed" given that the term now means "marijuana" and every reactor on RUclips thinks it means that.
An older brother gave me a copy of The Hobbit as a birthday present, after finishing it I checked out all 3 of the LOTR books from the library as fast as I finished them. The author JRR Tolkien was a veteran of the trenches in WWI and an Oxford professor in British folklore/literature, so he had insight into real courage and skill in bringing characters to life. The Middle Earth stories began as bedtime stories he made up off the top of his head for his kids. Tolkien was friends with the guy that wrote the Narnia series, C.S. Lewis. He was another Oxford professor that would meet at a pub with Oxford types, have drinks and make up stories. Tolkien and Lewis actually had a gentleman's bet over who could write the best books for kids.
17:11 Christopher Lee is a legend.. He was the only Lord of the Rings star to have met the writer of the books, JRR Tolkien (1892-1973). He played Dracula through the 1950's through the 1970's. He was in Star Wars, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He was in the Royal Air Force during WW2, and he was a singer up until he passed. He apparently wanted to play Gandalf, but he was too old and not physically capable enough to play the part. So he played Saruman, instead.. Which works out, because I think he was great in his role, and his voice was perfect.
@@honorsilverthorne7227 So I've heard. I haven't listened to any of it first hand though. Dan Vasc said in livestreams that Christopher was supposed to eventually do something on his album (I forget what), but he got ill and then past away.
Lee was in the British special forces and had extensive combat experience. That's is why, when Jackson wanted him to go into spasms of agony when he got stabbed by Wormtounge, Lee had to correct him and play the part properly as someone who knew exactly how men reacted and died when stabbed in the back.
These movies do the Ringwraiths justice. In the books, the first book especially, they are absolutely terrifying. The way they seem to manifest from the shadows. You guys are gonna love this series!!!
When one realizes the staff will never limit the essence of one of the Ainur that sang the world into being. ;)❤❤❤ but yeah very funny comment from him
@@Makkaru112 *spoilers below for the films and books* We honestly don't know the nature of the wizards' staffs. On the one hand yes, they are Maiar spirits and have an inherent power that would not require a staff to use. But on the other the staffs are shown as being significant to the Istari. Gandalf insists on bringing his staff with him when they meet with Theoden and seems to use it in the process of helping him. When Gandalf destroys Saruman's staff Saruman's powers seem to be drastically reduced. The Valar gave the Istari the bodies of old men to remind them to be humble, so it's not unlikely that those bodies also limited their power. Obviously Gandalf was still able to defeat his fellow Maia (the Balrog) without his staff, but it was only in direct conflict with other beings from Valinor that the wizards were permitted to use the full extent of their powers. So maybe the staffs are tied to their ability to use their powers on beings in middle-earth; because they don't have permission from the Valar to use their full powers for middle-earth, they are only able to use their powers to the allowed extent through their staffs. This, of course, is contradicted by the wizard duel in the film, but obviously the fight didn't actually happen in the book. It didn't need to, because as the leader of the Istari Saruman had dominion over Gandalf. There was nothing Gandalf could have done to oppose him in that regard. The same way that once Gandalf was given Saruman's old 'job' he had dominion over Saruman, who could do nothing to oppose him. The point is, the staffs are significant in some regard. Though I suspect your motivation for your comment might have just been you seeing an opportunity to flex your Tolkien lore knowledge and taking it ;)
20:46 Great to see BJ pick up on so many small details that many reactors seem to miss, and make plot connections that initially confuse others… and fun to see Asia fall for every jump-scare as they come along !
Ohhhh myyyy Gawwwwd 😱 I never imagined you 2 would do this trilogy... I AM SO FLIPPIN EXCITED!! We all say, humbly, without trying to push too hard... this is the greatest story ever adapted to film. You are both going to be astonished in the range of emotions this movie (these movies) will bring out of you. The world-building in this movie will suck you in IMMEDIATELY.... and don't fret about the length of the movies.... every utuber ever: I dont know if my attention span can go 4hrs... 4hrs later: WHAT?!? IT'S OVER!??! NOOOOOOO Maaaaaan - I'm so f'ing hyped! 🥳
Peter Jackson made the written word of this story come to life, what a fantastic job, made my dreams come true. First I read The Hobbit, loved it and then my boyfriend gifted me a special bound edition of the Trilogy, I never wanted it to end. I hope Asia and BJ enjoy it as much as we did. Cheers
"He mopped the floor with Gandalf" I have never heard anyone say that - I laughed SO HARD!!! Man, I don't think there's a single movie I wouldn't love to watch with you two. :D
I think we would all be truly lucky if we could have a friend who is as brave and loyal as Samwise Gamgee. But I must admit I'm glad to see you both enjoying this movie.
I was never into these types of movies either. I didn't even start watching LOTR until about eight years after they had come out. Once I saw them I was completely hooked. I boight the extended version DVDs and have watched them more times than I can count. So excited to be watching these with you guys!
Oh, fun fact, Christopher Lee (the actor who played Saruman) was a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings books, and read them every year. He was also the only member of the cast who actually met J.R.R Tolkien in real life. He was also the cousin of Ian Fleming, the man who wrote the James Bond books.
I have seen so many reactions to this but I gotta say, this is hands down one of the best reactions to LOTR that I've seen thus far. Watching y'all reaction made me excited for what y'all were about to see and learn from beginning to end. I can't wait to see your reaction to parts two and three. 😊
Y'all have SO much understanding from the first viewing! I've seen a lot of reactions and most times people don't really understand what's going on 😅 honestly, i barely knew what was going on in my first viewing. You're great at interpreting movies. also, y'all had me cracking up!! 🤣
I find it amazing that there are still people out there who haven't seen these movies - glad you've found the time to react to them.... judging by this reaction, you are in for one hell of a ride 🙂
Asia's reaction the first time the eye flashes on the screen says it all. The LoJack line was classic, as well as both their reactions every time the orcs were in frame.
BJ mentioning Radio Flyer is a huge deal. That’s such a forgotten movie, and one that I watched a lot as a kid despite it being a sad, difficult movie to watch, that I somehow still loved and revisited because of how it made me feel. LotR are fabulous movies and I’m so grateful you’re watching the extended cuts. They’re superior and these movies are incredible. Enjoy!
I think one of the most impressive things about these films is the landscape, which is all in New Zealand, where the director is from. It's REALLY like this, this gorgeous, magical scenery.
Watching you two...after telling us that you don't think you'll like this type of movie...and you're both already so invested...and both fully protected by the Blanket of Safety...yeah, thus is going to be a wild ride!
Asia in the beginning: “I thought this was a kids’ movie.” Well, maybe for another few minutes haha. I haven’t finished the reaction yet but I already love how much you guy are into it and picking up on stuff so quickly!
Aragorn: "You have my sword." Legolas: "And my bow." Gimli: "And my axe." Asia: "Pfft. I can't carry all'a that." 😂😂🤣 Never change! ❤ Can't wait for Pt. 2! Been a long time comin'! 🤘 I'm calling it now: this is gonna be one of y'all's favorite franchises.
After watching your channels custom animated splash screen and intro to your video, I instantly liked the video before it even started hahaha. I honestly love your channel guys. Your Matrix reaction was amazing to watch so, I can only imagine a movie trilogy as EPIC as Lord Of The Rings is going to be top tier entertainment. Keep it up guys!! 🔥
I was drinking something when Asia said "Earth Grabbers." Now I am not because it's all over my lap. Did you know the black haired Elf Lady is the daughter of Steven Tyler from Aerosmith? Now that your doing Game of Thrones, did you notice Ned Stark ride up on a horse at the end of this reaction? Or Orlando Bloom from Pirates of the Caribbean. This movie was before both. It is the movie that made Orlando Bloom famous but Ned Stark played by Sean Bean, was semi famous before this movie. And most people will agree that this is the slowest and 3rd best of the 3 movies. This is why you guys are maybe my favorite reactors. Even movies your not all that excited to see, you bring the same fun and energy and professionalism to the reaction. You can't help but enjoy you guys reacting to something. Well, maybe not "Steel Magnolias," But most things. LOL.
So glad you enjoy the LOTR story! It's pretty much "the" fantasy story known to modern people, and has established many trends and archetypes that fantasy writers have reused tirelessly.
When you were talking about Elijah Wood being a great actor as a child, it made me realise y'all should watch 'The Good Son' it's a great movie with Elijah Wood and another great child actor Macaulay Culkin. It's a movie where both child actors go toe to toe in a thriller.
Talking about child actors, even in this category Sean Astin is as usual the most underrated actor ever to be acting in a generation-defining cult movie. Goonies, to be precise...
"Oh he done did this before!" This was actually Vigos Mortensons first sword scene, he was cast at the last minute so only had one session with the swordmaster Bob Anderson (who has directed almost all fencing scenes in film) and between takes to make this look like he's an experienced fencer. Bob called him "the best swordsman I've ever trained."
Glad to see you're both doing the greatest fantasy trilogy of all time, doubt this one will be bettered for a long time!. Fun fact: If you wind back to when the Hobbits enter Bree, the fat guy eating a carrot who burps at the camera as he walks by...is the trilogy director, Peter Jackson in one of his cameos.
👏🏾👏🏾Last night was "my FIRST time EVER" watching LOT in it's entirety. Have to say, i absolutely, positively loved it!! Gunna' check out The Two Towers in a few minutes!👏🏾👏🏾
FINALLY!!!! I have been waiting for my favorite reacting team to watch this. Enjoyed watching this with you guys, can't wait to see you complete the series. This is hands down my favorite movie series ever. I am 66 years old. I have seen many movies over the years. These three movies were awsome Academy award winners.
Some Things you must know about Lord of the Rings 1: Gandalf is not really a human wizard, that's just what people call him. He's actually a powerful spirit being (called a Maia) in human form. He's basically an angel! 2: Sauron is also a powerful fallen spirit being, basically a fallen angel. 3: The languages that the characters speak in the movies *are actual languages*. They were invented by the author of the books from scratch! He was a famous linguist and an Oxford Professor in real life. 4: Lord of the Rings novels are the bestselling fantasy series of the 20th and the 21st century (so far) and maybe of all time.
honestly I watched very late in my life because I'm really not into that kind of movies, I started watching GoT end of season 5 or I've never seen start war for exemple, I know the emblematic quotes but that is it :/ it happens, I bet you maybe they don't watch this type of movie but like Jackie chan, Jean-Claude Van Damme or rush hours are more the kind of movies they were into growing up, it is cool start seeing people react to movie that are out of their "confort zone" it is because of that we reunite here to share this moment and to experience as it is was our first time seeing too ;)
@39:00 “They gotta take it to Mordor.” “Not me.”😆 You two keep your child like spirit in your hearts which is great. It’s a wonderful thing to stay as a child at heart when your an adult. It keeps us a bit innocent & grounded. You seemed to really enjoy this incredible work of art based upon the literary masterpiece that is the Lord of the Rings with wide eyes & a big smile. Movies are amazing & being able to enjoy a great movie on movie night as you two did is one of the great simple pleasures in life. It’s always nice to see reactors getting joy from a movie. You two are an adorable couple too. No matter how many times I rewatch LotR, it never gets old.🙂👍
The One Ring’s power over people explained here:As for the rings given to these groups:They were all meant to go to the elves but Mairon of the Maiar disguised as a high elf named Annatar when he came to the elves pretending to be an emissary from Valinor on behalf of the Valar so it makes sense how alluring the ring is and how strong it’s pull on people is. (A bit too instant in the movies though) Galadriel soon saw right through him and especially when after speaking with him regarding not remembering him when in Valinor long ago where she learned from all the Valar thanks to being dominantly Vanyar/Teleri side over her Ñoldorin side where she gleaned from that encounter that she did not study under Aulë the Vala with any elf named Annatar ! But later named Sauron by the elves meaning deceiver! After all of this, The three elven rings were made in secret without Saurons touch upon them thanks to Celebrimbor! Remember Gandalf before he became Gandalf was the same species of entity Sauron used to be!! Wow hey? The Rings, in this case, would have lost their powers eventually due to the lack of the One Ring and possibly because they were designed to defeat evil, and evil, in the form of Sauron, had been defeated. The Three Elven Rings served their purpose for a long time. Two out of three of them had several different bearers Unlike the other Rings, the main purpose of the Three is to "heal and preserve", as when Galadriel used Nenya to preserve her realm of Lothlórien over long periods. The Elves made the Three Rings to try to halt the passage of time, or as Tolkien had Elrond say, "to preserve all things unstained". I can expand upon this based on any further statements and questions you have for me as a reply to this comment ! ❤ Aside from the three Elven Rings Made In Secret Without Saurons presence or touch upon them through Celebrimbor! As for the rings given to these groups:They were all meant to go to the elves but Mairon of the Maiar who became Annatar when he came to the elves pretending to be an emissary from Valinor on behalf of the Valar so it makes sense how alluring the ring is and how strong it’s pull on people is. Thanks for reacting to my most FAVORITE of FAVORITES!! The most beautifully done and meaningful story of our time! It has the best messages at its ending too!! The battle scenes are nothing short of epic. Strap in. Its about to get wicked!🤘🤘
In the books it is actually 17 years from the time frodo got the ring to when he had to leave the shire. He was 33 when bilbo gave him the ring and 50 when he set out.
Fellowship of the Ring is my favorite film of all time. Having the opportunity to see you all watching it for the first time made it hilarious and exciting again. Looking forward to part 2!
I would love to have a human-size Hobbit Hole for my home. The exterior sets for Hobbiton still exist in New Zealand, and has become quite the tourist attraction.
The crazy thing is, Sauron isn't the main bad guy. He's not the real lord of Darkness. The one called Morgoth is. He was Saurons master but he was so evil that the other great spirits of the world banned together and locked Morgoth out of the universe. He's not dead. He just can't get back into the world. It left a power vacuum, so the next powerful evil spirit took over. That was Sauron but Sauron used to be Morgoths servant. Now Gandalf is from the same order of spirit as Sauron. Technically Gandalf has the power to take Sauron on but that's not his role in the story, not unless everything goes wrong.
OMGGGG IT’S HAPPENING 🗣🗣🗣everybody stay calm 🚨 everybody STAY CALM🔈🚨STAY F***ING CALM🗣🔈🚨🚨🚨 No but fr, I can already tell you’re gonna LOVE this. Thank you for taking us with you in this wonderful journey. Also please tell me you’re watching the extended edition🙏All the love!
Dear Asia & BJ, I was in cinema on all 3 movies from 2001-2003! Seeing this masterpiece (and Harry Potter) on a big screen was spectacular! Hope its the extended version you guys are watching! Have lots of fun and greetings from the heart from Germany! ❤
Just discovered you guys through this video, and I am honestly impressed. You guys picked up on so many underlying themes on your first viewing. Y'all gained a new subscriber, looking forward to seeing the rest of the trilogy!
"He just mopped the floor with Gandalf!" Almost literally. "Hmm, the mantle is kind of dusty... better get Gandalf!" *scrape* *slide* "Nothing gets the toughest stains out like the power of Gandalf!"
(Not in the movies) Galadriel intentionally match Arwen & Aragorn together while both visited Lothlòrien? some more story about this without spoilers as it’s not shown in the movies at all. : Galadriel intentionally matched Arwen & Aragorn together while they were both visiting Lothlòrien for different reasons. Arwen & Aragorn met in Rivendell, & that is where Aragorn fell in love with her, although it doesn’t sound like she felt the same at the time. Aragorn’s mother Gilraen warned him that he was aiming too high, and Elrond was not happy about it either, and Aragorn took heed of this and left Rivendell, to learn how to be a Ranger and to oppose Sauron’s forces. Many years later, he came to Lothlorien, seeking rest and shelter, and Galadriel allowed him to enter. We have this line in the Tale of Aragorn and Arwen: “But Aragorn was grown to full stature of body and mind, and Galadriel bade him cast aside his wayworn raiment, and she clothed him in silver and white, with a cloak of elven-grey and a bright gem on his brow. Then more than any kind of Men he appeared, and seemed rather an Elf-lord from the Isles of the West. And thus it was that Arwen first beheld him again after their long parting; and as he came walking towards her under the trees of Caras Galadhon laden with flowers of gold, her choice was made and her doom appointed.” LOTR Appendices. To me, that makes it rather explicit that Galadriel wanted Aragorn to appear at his best. Why? Who could he possibly impress in Lothlorien, except for Galadriel’s grand-daughter? I think it is quite clear that she wanted them matched, and perhaps her foresight told her that they needed to be matched, as it was part of destiny, to begin the Dominion of Men (something Elrond probably also realised, but couldn’t willingly promote, since it would mean Arwen and Elrond would be parted forever). Plus there is the scene in Lorien, where Galadriel gives Aragorn the Elessar, which went from Galadriel to Celebrian to Arwen and then back to Galadriel in order that she give it as a gift to Aragorn. Again it speaks to me as a collaborative act, and part of Galadriel helping bring the two together: And Aragorn answered: 'Lady, you know all my desire, and long held in keeping the only treasure that I seek. Yet it is not yours to give me, even if you would; and only through darkness shall I come to it.' 'Yet maybe this will lighten your heart,' said Galadriel; 'for it was left in my care to be given to you, should you pass through this land.' Then she lifted from her lap a great stone of a clear green, set in a silver brooch that was wrought in the likeness of an eagle with outspread wings; and as she held it up the gem flashed like the sun shining through the leaves of spring. 'This stone I gave to Celebrían my daughter, and she to hers; and now it comes to you as a token of hope. In this hour take the name that was foretold for you, Elessar, the Elfstone of the house of Elendil! Then she lifted from her lap a great stone of a clear green, set in a silver brooch that was wrought in the likeness of an eagle with outspread wings; and as she held it up the gem flashed like the sun shining through the leaves of spring. 'This stone I gave to Celebrían my daughter, and she to hers; and now it comes to you as a token of hope. In this hour take the name that was foretold for you, Elessar, the Elfstone of the house of Elendil! ' From LOTR FOTR BOOK
It was very subtle, but when the ring was first revealed, there was evil whispering to the men, the elves, but stopped abruptly when it showed the dwarves. They are immune to it's corrupting influence.
i've seen so many people react to this and i'm very impressed with how much you're picking up on!! You both caught so many nuances that people usually don't notice in a first watch-through. Even just the fact that the ring alters people's minds is lost on some 😂SO excited for the rest of the trilogy!!
18:10 BJ: "he just mopped the floor with Gandalf" 🤣🤣I'm dead! BJ is a low key genius! Also I just want to say those ring wraith horsemen tight. I was a kid when this came out and those things were terrifying! 😂
In farm families, especially a long time ago, there were two breakfasts, one for people who got up super early to milk the cows, and another one for people who started work later. In England, they have different names for meals. I don't know what all of them are, but one of them is Elevenses, which might be a late morning snack of some kind.
The moment you two started movie reactions, I've been waiting for this epic trilogy! Welcome to the LOTR family 😀 You are in for a life changing experience.
“You shall have my sword!”
“And you shall have my bow!”
“And my axe!”
Asia: “How’s he gonna carry all that??” 😂😂😂
I came looking for this exact comment. 🤣
My brother and I saw this in the theater. They said “You shall have my sword!”
“And you shall have my bow!”
“And my axe!”
My brother immediately said, "and my HK!"
Meaning his new HK handgun he'd recently bought. LOL
I always remember that when I see this scene.
It's a good question though, because at the end of this film we learn that Frodo cannot, and that is why he does it alone.
You know, that does seem like piling it on, when you think about it.😂
I DIED! 😆💀💜 -x-
Asia says “His feet look like your feet…earth grabbers.” I freaking died laughing.
Same 😂😂
Poor dude 😆
Big Fan of Asia, but BJ didnt have that coming.
@@empirecity61 if u watch their other reactions, you know he did! 😆
Earthgrabbers!!!!!!
Things I love in life:
Oh yes! 🤗
1. And again and again and again. It's an every couple years, one weekend, event for my family in my theater room.
2. Pretty fun, right?
Heyy. I love “It’s Mr Video” too!
Gotta admit I love my HP movies too
When the Company made the movie, they built the entire village of the Shire for real in New Zealand. It's still there!
Applications for rent and mortgage available now!
This isn't a kid's movie, it's a Fairytale for adults. THE Fairytale
There are definitely fairytale-like stories in middle earth, but lord of the rings is more of an epic.
Yes, right. Tolkien wanted to invent a rich english mythology as compensation for its sparseness. Almost all of British mythology is of french (Artus) origin, so he thought of a history, civilizations, idioms and very slowly over decades, middle earth was born. It never was meant as a child‘s book by him.
@@losmosquitos1108 French and Norse. Look up “Das Rheingold” the original LOTR
It's not a fairy tale, It's an attempt on the classic genre of Epic.
The greatest tale ❤
the look of total rapture on Asia's face for 40 minutes says it all. I love watching new LotR fans being born😍
It's sad how often I'm searching for return of the king reactions so I can binge someone's full reaction to the trilogy. I need friends
Especially if they read the books
It occurred to me the other day that Peter Jackson being a horror director did TONS of work in these movies. There are some genuine moments of tension, and even a little horror sprinkled throughout. Giant spiders and monster-movie orcs, demons and wraiths and a treacherous little goblin man with schizophrenia.
yes, e get to experience it all over again trough their eyes, that is why i love reaction videos
We stumbled across the most accurate historical retelling of these events archaeologically and we're going to try to make a film about it"
Now BEFORE that I was (super psychotic fantasy book fangirl here, Wheel of Time is my all "time" favourite, LotR a very very VERY close second) terrified. Saw rumors on the net back in the ancient day (when I still had dial up) that they were going to make a live action Lord of the Rings.
I was with my best friend, HER best friend, and a guy we were both friends with (who I could beat in HEMA swordfights despite that being "his thing" and me giving him books on it like... bro, if you goin do dis den FACKING TRAIN, you're exceptional.........)
Anyway sorry, I'm drunk.
"....into the very fires of Mordor."
(also, for "casual" nerds like me, the way they say "Mordor" is... mwah)
YOU ARE NOT THE SUCKO! Unless you mean spikes suck, in which case they do when we step on them.
Drunk?
*smiles, hugs*
Cracks me up that when I go to church the most Christian movies I make everyone try to watch are Matrix Tril and LotR
There is actually a reason why the Hobbits are the best keepers of the One Ring: They have no ambition, at least not one that the Ring can translate to corrupt them. Sure they'll EVENTUALLY start to fall to the Ring's influence, but only once it's worn them down a great ways.
Basically This
The Ring: "Use my power, and I shall make you the... greatest garlic farmer... in Middle-Earth?"
Hobbit: "OR, I could just head over to the inn, have some cups, and ooh, pipeweed and brandy would be great, maybe with a lovely meat and cheese plate, and some good yeast rolls with garlic butter...." *continues going on about food for 40 minutes unbroken.
Ring: *screams in frustration*
Seen about 20 other channels react to the trilogy. BJ is all over it. He’s getting every nuance and understands the plot and meanings more than any reactor I’ve seen so far. Bravo!
I totally agree!
I think they watched lotr before. They have poster on the wall in background
@@sachisachi7165 That doesn't mean anything. They probably got a lot of movie posters to decorate their room.
@@sachisachi7165 these guys don't seem the type tbh. If they are they're great actors and we have all been suckered lol
@@sachisachi7165 I mean, it's not like they have a giant poster of LOTR and only LOTR on their wall, it's a lot of posters of different movies, I doubt they've seen all of them.
Best counter from Asia: "I cant carry all of that!" after they all offered to try protect Frodo on his journey 🤣
Letting it go to travel on a new journey of adventure, for a final chapter of life into the light beyond the horizon, unburdened by a great evil...
yes but you saw before he parted the Shire, that the ring was beginning to corrupt even a Hobbit. He called it "My precious," just like Gollum.
@@jeannichols2459 yes but that's after decades of having it. It's bound to corrupt eventually and even then after calling it his precious, he was able to let it go
When mere moments with it corrupted gollum to a point he killed the person closest to him
I haven’t read the book but did the Ring play a part in that?
"Why's he gotta say it like that?"
"Cuz it's an emergency" 😂😂😂
OK, finally headed over to Patreon so I can finally see full reactions. I am missing out on more gems like this lol
Not only is this one of the best trilogies ever produced but it has one of the finest scores for a film ever produced. Fun fact: The score was composed by Howard Shore who was once the musical director on Saturday Night Live.
@suprchickn7745 Exactly!
But the music is so great. I have fond memories or learning to play the soundtrack on my saxophone as a young teenager. (Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean were my favorite soundtracks to play)
And a few years ago, I was able to visit a concert where they played the LotR soundtrack live with an orchestra. And Billy (the actor of Pippin) was also there and he sang live. Such a funny guy.
I still love the music. So nostalgic. It feels like home when you listen to it.
Did you know that the composer actually created instruments to make the sounds he wanted?
He was also in a metal band. 👍😎
BJ: "it's like the ring's got a LoJack on it"
I laughed way too hard walking through the grocery store while listening to this lol
Just imagine the ring's voice like it's the shoulder devil in emperor's new groove

"When you a wizard you can't be losin' your staff" hahaha
When one realizes the staff will never limit the essence of one of the Ainur that sang the world into being. ;)❤❤❤ but yeah very funny comment from him
So true
@@Makkaru112 *spoilers below for the films and books*
We honestly don't know the nature of the wizards' staffs.
NOOOOOOO
Maaaaaan - I'm so f'ing hyped!
Cheers

I think we would all be truly lucky if we could have a friend who is as brave and loyal as Samwise Gamgee. But I must admit I'm glad to see you both enjoying this movie.

Asian’s comment made me laugh. You can have my sword and you can have my bow and my axe. Asian’s comment I can’t carry all of that.
This soundtrack is one of the best ever.
Y'all have SO much understanding from the first viewing! I've seen a lot of reactions and most times people don't really understand what's going on 😅 honestly, i barely knew what was going on in my first viewing. You're great at interpreting movies. also, y'all had me cracking up!! 🤣
LOL "I can't carry all that".....I just saw a meme other day of Frodo trying to carry all those weapons, very funny
I love the start of "happy go lucky" feel, this is a kids film and then a few moments later.. the facial expressions became so serious haha

Right? I was smiling like a loon watching this. 😆
She truly does. I wished she would do those try not to laugh. At least the drunk ones or Tony Baker. It would be so entertaining.
Enjoy!
"STOP TAKING ME FOR SOME CONJURER OF CHEAP TRICKS!!"
Asia: "OK..."
"I can't carry all that!" Is possibly the funniest thing I've ever heard.
I think one of the most impressive things about these films is the landscape, which is all in New Zealand, where the director is from. It's REALLY like this, this gorgeous, magical scenery.
Loved your reaction! Love your channel! The "weed" is actually just tobacco. Tolkien himself was a pipe smoker. 🙂
Watching you two...after telling us that you don't think you'll like this type of movie...and you're both already so invested...and both fully protected by the Blanket of Safety...yeah, thus is going to be a wild ride!
"oh that a goblin. You know that thing was forged in EVIL". Love it.

He said "its a wizard showdown." 🤣 🤣
LOL.
I was waiting for someone to mention Liv, Walk this way from Aerosmith and all their other songs are great
So glad you enjoy the LOTR story! It's pretty much "the" fantasy story known to modern people, and has established many trends and archetypes that fantasy writers have reused tirelessly.
Oh this is so enjoyable watching the film pulling Asia deeper and deeper in reminds me of the Borg "you will be assimilated"".
When you were talking about Elijah Wood being a great actor as a child, it made me realise y'all should watch 'The Good Son' it's a great movie with Elijah Wood and another great child actor Macaulay Culkin. It's a movie where both child actors go toe to toe in a thriller.
Macaulay gives a chilling performance in that one.
Imagine if they watched Elijah Wood in Maniac
@@delphipriestess9968 Elijah was also in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Weird name, great film.
Talking about child actors, even in this category Sean Astin is as usual the most underrated actor ever to be acting in a generation-defining cult movie. Goonies, to be precise...
Such an underrated movie! It creeped me out like nothing else
“Battle of the wizards, power of the mind.” Best way to explain this scene.

Some Things you must know about Lord of the Rings
1: Gandalf is not really a human wizard, that's just what people call him.
4: Lord of the Rings novels are the bestselling fantasy series of the 20th and the 21st century (so far) and maybe of all time.

honestly I watched very late in my life because I'm really not into that kind of movies, I started watching GoT end of season 5 or I've never seen start war for exemple, I know the emblematic quotes but that is it :/ it happens, I bet you maybe they don't watch this type of movie but like Jackie chan, Jean-Claude Van Damme or rush hours are more the kind of movies they were into growing up, it is cool start seeing people react to movie that are out of their "confort zone" it is because of that we reunite here to share this moment and to experience as it is was our first time seeing too ;)
"He just mopped the floor with Gandalf!" This is probably the first time ever I wanted someone to say, "literally."

Wow hey?
Thanks for reacting to my most FAVORITE of FAVORITES!! The most beautifully done and meaningful story of our time! It has the best messages at its ending too!! The battle scenes are nothing short of epic. Strap in. Its about to get wicked!🤘🤘
The guy in this video picks up on everything! It's super fun to watch
When Gandalf touches the ring on the floor - Asia: "Nope, not for me" 😂😂
In the books it is actually 17 years from the time frodo got the ring to when he had to leave the shire.
Saw all 3 movies in theaters when they released. So good.
“I can’t carry all that!” 😂 😂
Me and my husband fell out laughing. Love you, Asia.
Elijah Wood also had small part in Back to the Future 2. He was one of the little boys playing around with the arcade game in "2015."
"Look at his feet, babe. Looks like your feet" HILARIOUS
"I can't carry all that.." funniest reaction to that scene 😂😂
OMGGGG IT’S HAPPENING 🗣🗣🗣everybody stay calm 🚨 everybody STAY CALM🔈🚨STAY F***ING CALM🗣🔈🚨🚨🚨
No but fr, I can already tell you’re gonna LOVE this. Thank you for taking us with you in this wonderful journey.

Dear Asia & BJ, I was in cinema on all 3 movies from 2001-2003! Seeing this masterpiece (and Harry Potter) on a big screen was spectacular! Hope its the extended version you guys are watching! Have lots of fun and greetings from the heart from Germany! ❤

@@BintyMcFrazzles Oh well, smarty-pants. I’ll bet you can’t write in German.

that's classic Asia!
Dominic Monaghan (Merry) once said, “If windows are the eyes to the soul, then Elijah has garage doors.”
Just discovered you guys through this video, and I am honestly impressed. You guys picked up on so many underlying themes on your first viewing. Y'all gained a new subscriber, looking forward to seeing the rest of the trilogy!
Hey, Thanks Benjamin!! Welcome in and we appreciate your comment and sub! ☺️
"He just mopped the floor with Gandalf!" Almost literally. "Hmm, the mantle is kind of dusty... better get Gandalf!" *scrape* *slide* "Nothing gets the toughest stains out like the power of Gandalf!"
So happy for you guys. You’re starting one of the greatest stories of all time. The Lord of the Rings is an absolute masterpiece.
I love that Frodo being infected by the wraith, can see Arwen as the light.
We have this line in the Tale of Aragorn and Arwen:
“But Aragorn was grown to full stature of body and mind, and Galadriel bade him cast aside his wayworn raiment, and she clothed him in silver and white, with a cloak of elven-grey and a bright gem on his brow.
Again it speaks to me as a collaborative act, and part of Galadriel helping bring the two together:
And Aragorn answered: 'Lady, you know all my desire, and long held in keeping the only treasure that I seek. Yet it is not yours to give me, even if you would; and only through darkness shall I come to it.'
'Yet maybe this will lighten your heart,' said Galadriel; 'for it was left in my care to be given to you, should you pass through this land.' Then she lifted from her lap a great stone of a clear green, set in a silver brooch that was wrought in the likeness of an eagle with outspread wings; and as she held it up the gem flashed like the sun shining through the leaves of spring.
'This stone I gave to Celebrían my daughter, and she to hers; and now it comes to you as a token of hope. In this hour take the name that was foretold for you, Elessar, the Elfstone of the house of Elendil! ' From LOTR FOTR BOOK

I just love watching you two.... puts a smile on my face in these times.... Cheers !
Wow the fact you know radio flyer says a ton about you sir. Narrated by Mr Tom hanks himself glad you made that reference.

BJ: "he just mopped the floor with Gandalf" 🤣🤣I'm dead!
You two are in for an amazing time! This trilogy is a masterpiece.
the ring has a lojack was a great line!
The moment you two started movie reactions, I've been waiting for this epic trilogy! Welcome to the LOTR family 😀 You are in for a life changing experience.
@Asia and BJ God Bless your patrons as they had the good sense to get you all to watch and love this :), Oh this is going to be an amazing ride
Asia had me in tears. I had to pause. I can't carry all of that.... AWESOME!!
