Gives a lot of us with next to nothing some hope.... I built a Lunchbox Chassis 4 years ago - WITH ALL the AmPro Engineering upgrades. But luck ran out before I was done... It's never had a Body. Still waiting.... Hopefully I'll have a proud piece of crap to enjoy myself at some point. Please stay SAFE! 😷 Carmine ✈🚂🚙
The lunch box was my second real RC car in Christmas of 1988 I think. My first was the grasshopper and Christmas of 86. I inherited my grandfather's wild one from Christmas of 86 and I'm looking to rebuild it. I'm a new subscriber so keep up the good work. :)
I was finally able to get one of these after wanting one for so many years. It's not yet built but will be soon. It's actually my second Tamiya after my M05 that my local club races.
Really great looking piece of crap( your words) lol! and we all love the LB!! l love a parts bin special and even better is a broken parts bin special! I recently made a Hornet up from an old wreck and raided my parts bin for some old parts rough parts that l did not have the heart to throw out and built a running Hornet! I run it and love this thing it's made it extra special in a way being such a rough car!! Great vid mate!
I'm not a fan of box art either! Haven't done one yet. Maybe that's why it takes me FOREVER on my builds HAHAHA I have an idea that may soon change that though
Light kit and body is awesome. Did you paint body or just polish. I just polish the white body mine came with. I have a black body in package I may just polish too.
Hi and thanks for the great videos. My dauter is turning 7 this summer and i thinking of giving her a RC car. im thinking of giving her the lunchbox or the grasshopper. what is the best beginner car for a 7 year old of those two?
Hmmmmm.....My daughter has a hornet. The lunchie is harder to control for sure but if you have a lot of grass area, the Hopper can get stuck a lot. The Hopper is a bit easier for a beginner and is much more durable than the Lunchie. I would lean toward the Hopper as I am right there with you. Hope this helps!
AMPRO Engineering Thank for the reply. We have mostly grass areas and some gravel paths to drive on. Is the lunchbox harder to drive than the Monster Beetle? My daughter have tested my MB and she drove it ok.
@@AMPROEngineering I'm sorry not trying to pressure you , just your designs are awesome and currently most of us have nothing to do . Also I don't mind my lunchbox not being stock.
Excuse me .. you probably have answer this alot.. but what 3dprinter do you use, and what are the suitable filament for this kinda job.. rc parts/toy parts in general.. and if you dont mind what are the stronggest material avaiable for 3dprints,?
Oh it is ok. I do not print in house. I don't like dealing with printers so I solely use Shapeways. For structural or mechanical prints, I use SLS Nylon. It is amazing stuff.
Thats what I call restoration, not what some people do, just replace all the parts and call it restoration lol, They basically replace all the parts like buying a new car lol
Yeah I felt bad throwing away all the old parts since with a whole bunch of glue I could make them into another car. Yeah it's not perfect but it still works and it has lots of personality and a story to tell.
I drove mine for the first time yesterday; I find it hilarious to bounce around with. I have trouble fitting a 2s stick pack in it tho, it's just a bit too long for the battery holder to close. Have you hacked that part too or are you running normal 7,2 Volts in it? I think it would be even more hilarious to make it go maybe twice as fast. I'm considering a Super Stock motor for it, not sure yet.
@@AMPROEngineering actually a two step process. First, all red, then a year later, all black because that was the only color left without buying all new parts.
Soooooo, I was putting a cart together on the website Shapeways, and I was about to be overcharged almost $40. My cart total was $97, the site told me it was $117, + $5.99 processing, standard shipping $0.00, for a total of $132. Would you mind enlightening me pls?!
SneerfulDust Oh I’m sorry, Shapeways is not my website. I just have a store there. The best thing to do would be to contact their customer service and have them sort that out for you. Perhaps what happened is too many items were added to the cart on accident. I’ve accidentally added something three times without realizing it. Also standard shipping is normally 7.99 for me. Surprised to see it’s free for you but it depends on location I suspect. Reach out to customer service and give them 24 hours as due to the CV 19 things are slower over there.
@@AMPROEngineering oh, ok. I understand what you're saying about accidental quantities in the cart. Ok cool I will build another order and contact CS if the issue comes up again. Thank you so much. I didn't mean to come off as a giant jerk face previously, sincerest apologies.
Why do all your 3D printed parts have the disclaimer "Not to be used for bashing?" How delicate are they compared to the original injection molded plastic they replace?
They are not delicate but they are not the ABS that many are used to. The hornet and pumpkin have super soft ABS plastics where the prints are nylon (like what the original RC10 had). Nylon is not very flexible. I race all my stuff and have not had any issues but I do not over do the motors and I do not beat up on them. I have a few cars that are almost fully printed and they hold up amazingly well.
I am gonna have send you pics of my lunchbox. I have ampro rear tranny brace. Rear shock mount brace. It has a traxxas stinger motor in it. If you go to my channel n look in my playlists...there are some videos on it lol. I am on my third front end.i blew out the aluminum tie rod ends lol
"but only I have this piece of crap" 😅😅 Love it! Best way to put it.
All true! hahah!
Anytime soon for those king Blackfoot parts
Nope.
@@AMPROEngineering OK I hope it sometime soon

They are tons of fun! Get yourself the aluminum body mounts on eBay. The plastic ones are trash.
"Only I have this piece of crap" ... oh my, you always crack me up, ha ha. beautiful glued Lunch box! Love it! Best to you and you family my friend.
Thank you! I am glad you liked it! Stay safe too!
There's more of that fantastic RC philosophy that I just love
"Only I have this Pease of crap "
Fantastic brother 😎👍
Hahah! Well, it shows how unique it is!
Loving the just cobbled together philosophy. Classic Tamiya. Nice one buddy!
Me too! Why throw away what lots of glue will fix?
👍You know I love the lunch box!!...New name for yours Vanessas Glued Box 😜
HA! I liked it!
Great video!!! Just purchased a Lunchbox kit for my 6 year old this year. We had a ton of fun today with it!!!
Good call! It is a great toy and I know they will enjoy it!
I’ll get one eventually. Love these.
it's a great truck
I also bought a box art body off evil bay for my lunchbox. it was too tempting to pass up!
Oh I hear that!

My ORV "Sand Scorcher " is a lot like your lunchbox. Glue and JB Weld hold it together lol
Good stuff!
Ow, it's an XB body!! :-D. And here I was, feeling dissapointed in my own work on my re-release kit :p
Oh yeah, it was really nice and for a while they were dirt cheap!
Aw what a awesome looking rig I'm really thinking of getting one as my first kit builds keep up the great vids.
Thank you. It is a really great car
@@AMPROEngineering do you think it will be ok for a novice build as a first kit.
Hey there's a new video where it shows more of the new Tamiya TC 01 I'm hoping you might like it I'm hoping you will tell me if you like it or not.
Ill need to look at it.
Bit like my Blitzer beetle held together with Meccano and glue. And dreams to 🖒🖒🖒
Hahah!
Lunch Box: Finally! After years of abuse, I can finally rest!
Ampro: (Looms over with glue in hand)
Lunch Box: O no
Hahaha!
Shoe goo rocks!!
I have even used it on my shoe!

He mentioned it is an Expert Built body; Those are pre-built and painted as well as the stickers applied. Sure looks stunning!
Oh yeah it is just the stock expert built one. Really beautifully done by Tamiya.
Chop up the rear gear box and fit your double wishbone suspension
Its gonna happen.

So I use these wolf pack 2S lipo batteries that are in a 7.2V NiMh shape. They are soft packs but they are great.
The silver phase was okay. I went through the "dye everything red on my rc10" phase back then.
Oh so did my friend! A bright red RC10T
