Massive respect for uploading a review after leisurely finishing the game. Games are supposed to experienced, not rushed like those official reviewers where they feel it like a chore and give bad scores.
first comment and its a good "DAMM RIGHT" moment kinda wish more people would understand that and stop going "i want the review now" "hurry up with the review" and all that jazz, especilly since as you said the games end up feeling like a chore or miss all the good points and so they wind up getting low scores since due to rushing they didnt take the time to enjoy. this is especilly true around the soulsborne games for those telling joe to "hurry it up" and "we want it now" for elden ring, if they rush it they arent gonna enjoy it cause 1 the story is a slow burn as it takes time to figure it out (or use the wiki), 2 they dont experiment and find the weapon they may love (so dont test all the fun combat styles) instead use the starters and if they dont enjoy them well see above, 3 rushing doesnt leave time for fun, id rather wait weeks hell a month or 2 if needed so long as we get a fair review (though no doubt people will still complain if it aint 10 out of 10)
@Jullia kosic ACG is a great example of someone who gets the review out on time and takes his time with great detailed reviews. Just because a review comes out when the game releases doesn't mean it was rushed. People get review codes and just play that game for a week as their job. AJ plays all of the games at once and doesn't make it his job.
@@thorn5228 I say play like 15 hours at least or 10. If your not feeling it then give it up. But if your an actual reviewer your not thier for your fun. It's about the game the mechanics. Story writing. Are these good. Then move onto the us it like mNy others? Things that just don't work. Its actual flaws
I could count the amount of games I've bought on day on one hand even if I was a Ninja Turtle. I love games, but over the years this industry has shown that it's not to be trusted with preorders and day one purchases.
Same. I have learned to wait around a month after a game is launched before buying it. I remember being very hyped for Kingdom Come Deliverance when it was announced but when it launched, I waited a few days. Watched the reviews, a lot of them saying it was buggy as hell. So, I waited for them to patch it up and 3 months later, I bought a used version of it (cheaper) and got to experience the game without most of the bugs. It became my favourite game, and I'm sure it wouldn't have if I played it at launch because I would be pissed off with all of the bugs that plagued it at launch.
@@Crit-Chance I used to pre order because live in a small village and sometimes it was out of stock in our stores. Bad after bad experience with assasin creed unity and other toxic infested micro transactions bull shit and the possibility to digitally buy games I never pre ordered again. It is unnecessary to pre order imo and it is sad we have to do it to send a signal.
The graphics are definitely great but I don’t see a lot of ppl talking about the enemy ai. I mean the way the machines track your movement and basically guess where you’re gonna dodge too is crazy considering 9/10 they guess right. And the enemy ai being able to track your fight pattern. It’s awesome and we need more games with this kind of ai.
It basically tracks your imputs. There is no guessing. Souls games were definitely one of the game to use that kind of AI in the past, enemies being able to shoot their bow accurately while ur running zig zag, enemies having certains attack that they do if you heal and being able to manipulate their AI if you position yourself in certain ways.
That’s funny because the AI is one of its greatest weaknesses. Because you are fighting mostly robots, they can hide the limitations. But when you fight humans, you realize there is not much to the AI. On many fights I just spammed attacked. FW is technically a PS4 game and those Jaguar cores are pretty old.
@@szelitzkyerick7456 Souls games' ai are pretty simple and predictable that's why after enough memorization people can do no hit runs the entire game even multiples of them back to back.
Fun fact: he could have one if he wanted to. You just pay to get those, and probably some other rules around SAG, but most importantly you just pay to get one. That's right. You pay. To get one of those stars. Because Hollywood is a facade.
I think the first game left more of an impact on me than Forbidden West, gameplay wise yes there's plenty of improvements but the first game had the benefit of the whole world and story universe being fresh and new
@@MissMultiConsole I think they tried to give us that again with the zeniths but at the end of the day we’re already very familiar with this world so the reveals aren’t going to be as big in the first game imo

Well the people that care about the “old ones” in this universe want to know their story. I appreciate that they are telling a story of the present and past at the same time.
I don't agree with the story gripes at all, I've thoroughly enjoyed it, and you don't have to listen to EVERY SINGLE PIECE of exposition, 75% of the dialogue is fucking optional...the only parts that aren't are crucial to the story. And I definitely have enjoyed listening to the snippets of the "old ones" and hearing what amounts to usually...their final words.
Surprised I haven't seen someone mentioning the fact they clear taped a Dorito to the side of OJ's head to act as Aloy's Focus piece 9:08. Haven't laughed out loud in a while, thank you.
My biggest problem with the story was that your objective at the beginning is to address the blight, but then Far Zenith comes and that is never really addressed. Gaia says that the stuff you’ve done will only give you a few months more, but Aloy is just like, “take your time!” at the end of the game like they aren’t heading towards mass deaths. Part of me hopes this will be addressed in a DLC, but it should have been addressed in the main game
Guerrilla Games planed HZD as a trilogy once they had to cut stuff from the original. Forbidden West is a Chapter 2 more than a sequel. Gaia says after capturing Poseidon, Aether and Demeter only will give few months without Hephaestus which is the one who builds stuff and controls the cauldrons and the robots. Hephaestus is captured but after that it's released to fight the Zenits.
Forbidden West is the middle of the trilogy. The blight is addressed for now when you recover AETHER, DEMETER and POSEIDON. However to truly fix the biosphere in the long term, GAIA needs HEPHAESTUS. Unfortunately the Zeniths get HEPHAESTUS and in exchange of saving the Tenakth from a pointless death, Aloy tells Beta to release HEPH into the Zeniths network. HEPH then escapes back to the Cauldron Network when Gerald destroys their network. Because of this, Beta mentions in a datapoint that she, Sylens and GAIA are planning on using APOLLO (which they now have in full thanks to the Zeniths getting a copy 1k years prior) to build a better version of HEPH. Hoping that with this new version, GAIA can wrest control of the Cauldron network from HEPHAESTUS. Thus GAIA can use the cauldrons to take control and build new machines to fully repair the biosphere. Beta says (in the same datapoint) that this should be possible before NEMESIS arrives.
The blight starts getting addressed when you heal the Land Gods and return them to the fields of crops that they used to tend to. If you come back later on, you'll notice a huge difference in how that same area looks.
@@vex-nh yes, but even Gaia said that she wouldn’t be able to fully heal the lands without Hephaestus. What we did with Aloy slowed it down, but didn’t completely stop it
Man I've gotta say, these parodies alone make it worth watching reviews even for games I'm not necessarily interested in. As always, big ups on staying true to your content and working through all these games for us.
You should watch their _Red Dead Redemption 2_ , _Metal Gear Solid 5_ , and _Grand Theft Auto 5_ reviews. I promise you'll be *on the floor laughing* from those. OJ did such a great job in Red Dead Redemption 2. And it's probably true they likely had a lot more time to create those reviews. But they are truly some of AJ's and OJ's best work. Alex even shows up in the Red Dead 2 review briefly. :)
@@joaquinarchivaldoguzmanloe1073 i have full intentions of playing horizon, i just meant in general. There's quite a few games they've covered that normally I wouldn't even think of watching a review for had it not been the boi's doing it in their format. Unfortunately though, I don't see myself having a PS5 until next year. Which is okay I guess to hold out for more titles rather than buying one early at mark up.
@@jb34304 I agree. They all do incredible work. OJ especially. And Alex as Lady D. I think at this point I've seen just about every angry review. Oh my god, I thought that I was the only one that noticed the weird “alive” hair in cut scenes. Thank you, AJ, always pointing out the stuff that the big review companies miss!
AJ? His name is AJ (Angry Joe) not AJ (Another Joe) we already have OJ (Other Joe) we don't need AOJ (Another Other Joe) there already to many Joe's and not enough Alex's
I just started playing last week and as much as I love this world and as heavily invested as I am I can't stand talking to NPC's outside of the quest stuff but after the first section the games opens up so well that I've become reattached
That was my exact experience with Zero Dawn lol. I uninstalled it twice because I couldn't bear the NPC interactions. But then finally the game opens up with gameplay freedom and I sunk like 300 hours into it.
I hate that shit in triple a games now. They all have to include some stupid ass dialogue choice all the time. It doesn't help either that it looks like Witcher 3 too, that came out in 2015
I kinda liked the extra dialogue, it was kinda annoying at when I was just talking to random npcs, however all the extra dialogue in the main story felt like a good addition. Also I fucking loved the music and was so sad when they said they didn’t find it impactful
The music can be good as background music for immersion, but it's not like catchy melodic tunes with banger beats or anything too special, it does fit the game.
@@samhein321 the best song (in my opinion) is “in the flood” and I personally believe that it’s an absolute banger but, if someone dosent like the music, it’s their own opinion (and vice versa)
Weird about the soundtrack, I thought the game was absolutely great with the soundtrack. You know it's great because it never grates on you or gets in the way! And there's a couple memorable tracks in there from the overworld just like the first game. Also surprised no mention of the ridiculous amount of useless loot. The fact that loot which sells for shards can be listed as "purple" as if it's valuable enough for me to spend 5 minutes to get to another damn just is just kind of a pain in the ass. Less chests! Less crafting materials! Less ammo types! Just tie the damn elemental damage to the weapon instead of splitting ammo into 20 different fucking types.
That’s what I was thinking: I was like why can’t they name a single song? Did they play the game? We literally have iterations of the same song blasted in our ears from the ps5 Home Screen and the main menu etc and I thought the music was a lot more memorable than the first (in the flood, for example was a big surprise)… I agree on the loot thing too I don’t even look at all the shit I grab lol
The best part in the entire game for me so far has been everything with the Theater troop in Vegas. That section of the game was just so charming and silly and I loved every second they were on screen.
Mannnnnnnnn u nailed it!!! That part of the game just felt SOOOOO GOOD!!! I was super invested in that story like. That by itself is it’s own story. Wholesome gaming moment
I love horizon. Since that first E3 video back in 2015, I got lost in the world of the first game and totally loved the story so the forbidden west was one of the handful of games I purchased in full price on a day of release and the first game I paid £70 for. I'm 120 hours in and still got stuff to do but you named some things I actually thought: Alloy's hair has life on its own. I was skipping doing main quests when I had less than 2 hours to play. I hated stupid hints. Like I'm collecting 9th drone and she goes maybe I need to bring it down. Yeah, I know Alloy shut up.... but I liked the story in the Forbidden west too but it didnt wow me ... and that's natural because it's a sequel ... I love it and definitely looking forward to an expansion and another sequel in the future.
My experience was totally the opposite. The characters are extremely boring. The world is bland. The people seem like zombies and talk like robots. Hunting monsters were cool but inventory management broke the gameplay and immersion. Most of the missions were missions were terribly designed. The game also hand holds. I've tried on ps4 and pc to play and complete horizon zero dawn and the dlc but I was bored to death. Forbidden west is more of the same so I will I'm good. This series is completely overrated imo. Beautiful graphics though.
@@MrJambola123 they are always updating the game (which is amazing ) i guess if there is a petition or enough people kicking up a fuss and say hey can there be a toggle in the menu to turn the hand holding off !!
I think when it comes to the dialogue, everything just depends on how invested you are in the world. I really love the first game and I've been invested in the world since then. I really enjoyed everything about the tribes, their interactions, and the various side quests that you encounter. The dialogue itself was very enjoyable to me because I found most of that stuff to be very interesting. That being said, if you're not interested in those things I can see how the dialogue would be annoying. Still, as much as I enjoy the first game, I feel like this one was an improvement on all levels. If you're not interested in the dialogue, it's easy enough to skip through it. It's a 9 for me. A point deducted mostly for some occasionally wonky platforming that irritated me.
Yeah I don't really understand the exposition criticism. For Horizon geeks like us, it's a god send of lore and information. Mass Effect did the exact same thing and was praised for it. And then Other Joe criticized that there was a dialogue wheel instead of cutscenes. Umm.. the dialogue wheel is for people like you who DON'T care. Literally just pick the bottom left option and then you can press a button to skip the dialogue entirely if you want. Why would you insist on picking every dialogue wheel option for 50 hours if you haven't cared the whole time? Still glad they enjoyed the gameplay and story and stuff for the most part though.
@@vincentjohnson7175 agreed 100% Hell, I went through some of the GAIA portions more than once 😆 I can imagine that the complaints would have been worse if it was all cut scenes (even "concise" ones) because it would have just been an info dump. The dialog wheel makes it all entirely optional. Personally, I was thrilled every time I saw a "!" above someone's head.
@@vincentjohnson7175 Mass Effect had an interactive story where you make decisions that actually affect the story. This game does not.... Get dialogue options tf out if your game if there are no real options.
@@Lord_Alimdor so you'd rather a game just force a ton of exposition and conversations on you? Your all or nothing approach makes no sense. It's all optional, I don't see the problem. Don't select those options in the wheel if you don't care.
I think you're missing the point here. people should want to hear the dialogue not just skip it. it should convert people to like the lore and story not bore people
See for me I really enjoyed the story of new dawn. So the beginning for me and understanding what's been going on and what adventure we were going on was really intriguing to me. I loved the opening especially the elevator where you get introduced to the new world.
@@THEMIGHTYGAMMONTV this means that instead of an adequate game, you will eat what all sorts of fighters for social injustice and other nonsense will feed you, which I don't need in a video game.
Totally agree about the tribe stuff, it's somewhat interesting seeing little things about how they base their religions and customs etc. on random relics from the pre-apocalyptic world but I mostly find them unwelcome distractions from the main story - which is fantastic IMO.
It was between this and Elden Ring for me and given how they described the game I made the right decision in picking Elden Ring for what I'm looking for.
For me the story is what kills this game, i don't remember Alloy being this boring in the first game, she has only one tone in her voice, her dialogues are boring. On the other hand the story was also predictable, i was not surprised when the new faction came and who are they, what i liked about it though that it was similar to the Assassins Creed story, the the "god" were actually advanced civilizations.
You don't remember Aloy being this boring in the first game? She was even worse! And whiny too. Maybe it was intentional cuz Sylens would always put her in her place for it
@PoisonRemedy89 yes I suppose so. She wasn't distracting. In this game, she's distracting in how masculine she acts. The way she stands and talks, kinda off-putting. But yes, boring in both games. Just goes on getting praises from everyone and says positive stuff all the time. It's just a little too pristine and conflict free for me
The Decima engine truly is a masterclass when it comes to graphics. It's crazy that consoles are often pushing the limits with these games. They do come to PC after (and push it even further) but it's impressive what they do on a 500 dollar box in the first place.
@@godsson7779 You do know the game is also on PS4, right? That’s why it didn’t push the limits. It was made cross-gen, not solely for PS5. Still looks more beautiful than a majority of other games.
Well my opinion on the dialogue wheel is that it’s for the people that sometimes have a hard time picking up everything during the first conversation, and I like that im able to be able to repeat the dialogue in cases when I miss something or didn’t quite understand the current plot in the mission.
If Elden Ring is also gonna be a roundtable discussion it will be interesting to see how you compare and contrast it this game since they do things so differently.
The story felt a bit rushed towards the end, and more underwhelming than the first... although the new tribes like the Tenakth and Utaru sure bring more world building, and their asthetics rock! Hopefully for the third one we will get ACTUAL free climbing, less interrogation marks that are stupid treasure chest on the maps, and a well designed machine "pet" system, were you could mount, train, and be-friend any machine you hack
I feel the same, the game could easily be a 10/10 legendary game if they polish the story, and give us more interesting characters. For Example in Zero Dawn, every faction was completely different(Banuk, Oseron, Carja, Nora), But in Forbidden West the Thenak are the same thing with different color pallets. In ZD, the Banuk cover themselves from head to toe in Tick skin to keep themselves warned in the frozen cold *BUT* in FW The Sky Clan are barefoot, shirtless, and wear skirts while living in an cold mountain...
Exactly. The Tenakth are all the same but they’re seperated into 3 clans: Sky, Desert, & Lowland. They each have rituals & colors that make them distinct from each other, but they all follow similar rules. It’s like the Carja & the Shadow Carja in the first game. They’re 2 factions of the same tribe & both worship the sun, but they have different colors & have different beliefs like how the Shadow Carja believe in the words of Avad’s father.
Just got the platinum for this game on PS4. The quality on the original PS4 was great (except for some bugs) so I'm so siked to finally get a PS5 and replay it!! What a great sequel!
Say what you will about the soundtrack, I loved it. Music can make or break video games (or anything really) for me. Imagine Aloy running away from a gargantuan machine while the Benny Hill theme plays in the background. The Soundtrack of HFW reminded me of The Witcher 3 in a lot of places. The only things that didn't sit well with me were the icons for completed places not disappearing from the map (Metal Flowers, Firegleam, etc.) Other than that, I hope to see a third game in the series. No idea what would happen, but any improvement on this game is worth it.
Agreed. I'm not great with remembering music in games, but I can hear the main theme in my head right now and it's great. Also, they just patched a bunch of stuff the other day, including the icons not disappearing.
@@geoffbaumgartner5335 It's not that the icons didn't display on the map, it's that they didn't disappear after I completed them. For example, there's still a Metal Flower icon at Tilda's Mansion, even though I'd already completed that area.
Wow that epic music when Aloy was facing the Tideripper aka Loch Ness monster! Great introduction into facing that giant machine for the first time! swimming in the water hearing that giant thing moving scared the crap out of me! That metal as the Tideripper moves real close to you. An to add more fuel to the fire those damn snapmaws can keep you moving lol!!!
I played every side mission and main mission and it took me 80 hours to complete. Considering the "opening" levels took roughly 8 hours to complete, its not that bad at pacing, if you end up playing the entire game.
I'm just glad that I got to finish the game before this review was uploaded. I enjoyed the game, but I'll admit there were stuff that bugged me. The ending for me was bitter sweet and one of the mechanics like her staying down for a long time (like more than three seconds) was annoying, but still is a great game for me. I would give it an 8/10.
@@BlackangelKatakuri I’m not a fan of the franchise at all. This is the 1 Sony game I just can’t get behind. Well and TLOU2 but I atleast played it longer.

I mean, you can't change the world overnight.
Really enjoyed this video, but I have to ask: Are you sure you didn't have the music turned off in game? I ask because the soundtrack was AWESOME. Most of the large enemies had their own themes that played during combat. Background music while exploring was lovely and when flying even better. The recurring theme that came a couple of times during cutscenes 'In The Flood' was beautiful too.
Something I noticed I heard no one talk about, clothing. I was talking to this guy wearing a leather vest tied in in the middle to keep it together. When her moved the gap between the two sides moved with him, even expanding and contracting as he breathed!! Shit KILLED ME!!
@@ilovechcolate823 Just leaving some words of encouragement, especially being that they are working round the clock to push out truthful well rounded reviews that in turn save me money by helping me decide weather 70$ is worth spending on a game.
Don't you think it's important to get a wide variety of opinions from a bunch of different people? Plus Joe uses footage from other youtubers' reviews all the time in his videos, so why not at least check them out?
The dialogue wheel has an icon to show you which option to select to end the dialogue... The additional options are for people that like a little more depth to their conversations or to check something they're unsure about. I thought it was a good way to suit everyone's needs.
The problem i think most people find with this method is that they think they will miss out on something important by not viewing it. I suppose that's not really the games fault though.
Aloy is the gaming mary sue, she is born better than everyone else, she is perfect in every way, and everyone who is not a douche is in love with her. it is even more obnoxious in the second game, that being said, the game is good, the story is good, but could be better.
Did you play the first game? She had access to a focus her whole life and she was trained by Rost so she would naturally have an advantage over many other people due to the knowledge she would gain from the focus. That said, she did feel more vulnerable in the first game as opposed to this one where she didn't seem to really question if something could be done or not.
@@mbern4530 she was born from the gene of "smartest" and "greatest", she had the special aid from young like u said, her only "hardship" was being "shunned" so that she could prove to everyone else how great and better she is to everyone else. On the second game she was worshipped by everyone, because she is the greatest.
@Project Oyabun did u see any arch in the advancement of the character after the failed mission? She failed because the story needed her to fail and then she could rise again as she is, nothing more, no lesson learned, she is still the best of them all.
Joe sums up exactly how I feel about the game, the meh characters. I like both games, but man as someone who values characters, none of them interest me at all. Alloy was cool after the realization of her belonging in HZD, but in FW she just becomes bland and uninteresting along with every other character in the game
I think one of the problem with these vast open world games is that you meet way too many characters, but each character only has a limited amount of "screen time". So, you don't get to have a relationship with them. They either don't develop as a character or their character development is way too fast. That's why I think having the companions is a step in the right direction, but then they went and kept them all in the base. Should've allowed us to take one of them with us and have them commenting on stuff, like in Fallout 4. Or have a decent chunk of companion sidequest. Or at least have them follow us through the main quest and actually be of essential help (maybe they have abilities that Aloy doesn't to be used in the main quest storyline) instead of just loitering around in the base.
@@akmal94ibrahim I agree. Devs need to pay more attention to fiction standards. Character interplay shouldn't play such a minor role in open world games.
Disagree on the "amazing voice acting". All the characters and NPCs sounded like people you'd find in Starbucks ordering a latte. Not one character gave off the impression that they live in a neo tribal society.
I loved the game. Had some issues with picking up loot having an animation (please do it like Ghost of Tsushima, BOTW, Elden Ring, etc), Aloy talking so much (especially puzzles), some minor bugs, and janky climbing and melee combat. Took me 91h to get the Platinum and be done. I'd give it a 9 personally. Thanks for the fantastic reviews as always Joe. Always worth the wait!
@JESQUESAN lmaooo this is also true but its a bit different in that game. That game is very slow so its understandable but horizon is fast, so you could only hope the looting would be fast too
The first 10 hours feels like a demo for review outlets like IGN. Not bad necessarily but it gave that feeling I also couldn't put finger on it. Then suddenly the game opens up and it's great and the dialogue isn't out of place. Also the information overload! Fantastic game though.
I agree that Forbidden West is better in a lot of aspects, specially gameplay and graphics, but I still prefer Zero Dawn. And its because the story. Just as you, I didn't get too involved in the story of Forbidden west nor its tribes. But the thing is I did in Zero Dawn. I really enjoyed the way the game set this whole mistery around the apocalypse, the machines and Aloy's origin and how it explains everything bit by bit. And then, there are the Carja. The therm "tribe" doesn't do justice to them. They are an actual post-postapocailptic civilization that don't just live in tents or repurposed ancient buildings like in many other post apocailptic settings (including Forbidden West Tenakh and Utaru) but have actually build new stuff and created a fledging civilization of their own. I hadn't seen anything similar before, and so was fascinated about them and their city, Meridiam. Which also happens to have one of the most memorable musical themes in Zero Dawn. I also find it interesting that, in those visions of the past, you usually get to see ruins in their glory days, when they were still intact, whereas with median you just see an empty rock in the past vs a huge elegant city in the present. It makes a great contrast and I feel it epnphazises that humanity is not just living in the shadow of its past, that its advancing and may get to the same level as before on its own.
Aloy was a decent character in the first game, being the awkward loner exploring a strange new world. Unfortunately, it doesn't work well in this game. The friends she made in the first game are eager to help her in this one, but she treats all of them like they're some great inconvenient burden. She's not the only one who's capable of fighting against machines and enemy tribes, however she is the only person with special DNA that lets her access and turn on certain ancient machinery, so all of them know that if she dies, they are all screwed. She should be willing to let everybody help at every opportunity not just for the sake of preserving her own life but because she knows how important her life is for the rest of the planet. And then it's annoying how just everybody she meets likes her right off the bat even when she barely shows any respect. I'm still annoyed at the part where she blows up the fortress wall while there are guards standing on it and the people in town are just okay with it. That would have been like Aragorn blowing up Helm's Deep and then the Rohirim hail him as a hero while Theoden as a coward.
Disagree. The developers have thought of everything, and here's why. Aloy's grew up an outcast and was deprived of communication with her peers, Rost raised her in such a way that she is well prepared and stubborn, always goes to her goal, no matter how impossible it may be. At the same time, frequent loneliness made her kind and sensitive to everyone who was in trouble. Aloy does not consider religious people stupid and although she understands that the real state of things is very different from their picture of the world, one must act carefully in this regard and explain everything as clearly as possible if the situation requires it. In the Forbidden West, these aspects of it are being developed. The girl just rushes from one goal to another without even saying goodbye to her friends and believes that only she alone is able to fix everything. And when she gets into trouble and almost dies, her friends are nearby and intelligibly explain to Aloy that although she is a strong girl, she is not all-powerful. That you can’t take on such a big burden, but you need to rely more often on those who love you and work on a common cause together. Therefore, now they will never leave her behind and will help to the end. And Aloy in the start who literally wakes up alone is not the same person at the end of the game when she is act with her friends. The game literally says: "If you want to go fast - go alone. If you want to go far - go together."
I kind of agree. Aloy was not as likable in this game. That may just be her intended character, but it was just hard to like her as a protagonist when she could be so very arrogant even in situations she shouldn't be. I get the vibe that the writers wanted to show "strong powerful protagonist," even at times when it doesn't work. Like arrogantly threatening 7 armed soldiers all by herself. You look past that stuff in gameplay, but it doesn't really work in a scripted scene. It just comes off as dumb. I don't know, it's generally fine, and it's a good game and story. But after I played the DLC, it just sank in that the game is a bit meh. Something I didn't really notice until I came back later for DLC.
@@sawdust8691 She wasn't likable in either of the games. Condescending, treating men like crap. Not her fault though, the writers made sure that most male characters were either pure evil or extremely incompetent in every way, whereas the ladies are heroic and just. They didn't even try to hide the woke narrative.
I really enjoyed the first game and do think the strength of it lies in the combat. I think Aloy was a bit of a weak link though, it would’ve been more endearing I think if she was in awe of her surroundings or whenever she saw a new robot, rather than just unrealistically taking it in her stride. It would make more sense given she grew up in a valley with only one other person.
Game is easily a 9/10 for me. That being said my main issue with the story is Aloy has no internal conflict. In the first it was her being an outcast and learning how to trust and assimilate with people. Rost dying at the same time so she was alone more then ever but had more friends then ever. This game lacks that. She’s just a god who is sometimes sad about Rost being dead. If it’s hard to connect with the main character then the rest of the story is harder to connect with. I think that’s why Joe couldn’t get into the story
Its about the rest of the story though. I dont get why people want to see aloy as someone with constant inner struggles and super good hearted. She aint. She is pretty much female Geralt. Very focused on her goals, her whole life consists of being an outsider and a trained killer, she tries to be empathic (just like geralt) but she threatens to harm people all the time. I think shes a pretty unusual anti hero. Which is great. I dont get why people want to impose more on that character.
Spoiler alert: Her moment of internal conflict was failing to shoot and ultimately kill Beta after promising her she wouldn't allow Beta to be captured by Far Zenith. She had a clear and open shot, but couldn't bring herself to do it, especially after seeing Varl die.
Played the game on PS4 Pro and had a blast with it! Loved the amount of lore dumps throughout the game. Looks looks incredible and runs smooth as well.. Apart from some audio issues and some black screens.
@@l.t.1305 i was surprised after I jumped into hfw after just finishing hzd to see that it runs a lot better even though it s much better looking.I m also playing on a ps4 slim which surprised me all the more
@@endriuzincenko64 It really is amazing the work they put into the game to make it look better and even run well in this old hardware. Hat's off to the devs for putting quality into their work
I agree that like 60% of the dialogue of the game is unnesessary, but the dialogue with your base members is really great. Especially when you hear how they interact with each other like Zo hating Erind, Varl trying to be the mediator and mentor for everyone, and Tokallo interacting with Alva, with Alva getting obsessed over Tokallos new arm that you get to journey with him to get.
I just wish there is more companion sidequest or that they can follow you around and comment on things kinda like in Fallout 4. Just seems like a waste of characters with all of them just loitering around in the base, exposition dumping onto you like a bored housewife talking about her day when her working husband, Aloy, gets home. Lol.
@@angelgjr1999 I think a more compelling DLC would be exploring the world the Quen inhabit. Were the Quen apart of the Zero Dawn program as well, but just stationed in China/Japan/who knows where. Were they part of their own nations plan to survive the Faro Plague, separate from Project Zero Dawn? What new “forbidden or lost knowledge” would the Quen discover thanks to Aloy’s updated Focus? How would the leaders of the Quen react to Aloy, a living breathing ancestor? What is the Quen’s culture like and would Aloy be able to help them change their restrictive nature regarding old information and who is allowed to access it? How is Alva’s sister? Alva said their homeland was suffering from floods so that gives us a chance to explore some sunken ruins. Throw in two or three new machines, some hunting grounds and collectibles and a new specific activity exclusive to the DLC… you got yourself a compelling bit of extra content. I also believe that Hephaestus will be in the DLC, as acquiring Hephaestus again is the last step to completing Gaia. From either him being at least mentioned, to Aloy acquiring something to help recapture him, as with it escaping back into the cauldron network and probably taking a peek at the zeniths technology and information, it has probably found a way to make capturing him much more difficult. As for what happened at the Sirius colony…That will most likely be explained more in Horizon ||| Nemesis.
Definitely like to see more stuff with the companions and doing more stuff with the Quen. Also I think it’d be cool to go back to Meridian or to the Nora lands. I really miss visiting Rost’s grave.
Indeed, I really enjoyed the lore and tribal stuff as well as the sci-fi stuff. Loving Elden Ring as well. Horizon just has so much of it being somewhat mandatory for the enjoyment of the story I could see why it would turn off some people, and I do agree the primary companions could've used a little more conflict with Aloy. Not to say I don't like the characters bc I think a lot of them are great, I'd just personally like to see a few more character/narrative risks in the next game though.
I'm 50-50 with it since I want to get invested but am not patient enough to slog through the dialogues. What I mostly do is I still click on each dialogue but I skip every single line, just quickly reading the subtitle, skimming through what they have to say instead of waiting for them to deliver each line. The voice acting and animation is amazing but goddang, there's way too much talking that takes you out of the game. One big suggestion I'd give the story writers is try to be more concise, and show, don't tell.
I have to half-agree, the dialogue in this game is well-executed for anything that isn't an exposition dump Whenever a conversation's intent felt like it was solely to get information to the player, those were the main ones I didn't like
I love the story of this game and looked forward to the dialogue wheels. The gameplay and graphics were first rate. I enjoyed the music too. Especially during major fights. I do agree that Aloy talks too much to herself and directs you what to do too often. They need to tone this down. But overall, an incredible game and experience. Looking forward to the next one. 9.5/10
Cons would be traversal, some machines and quest design. Don’t know how many times aloy won’t grab on to ledges she would be able too that are shorter than arms reach of her, so many yellows spots for her to grab on but she won’t and this happens constantly. Buttons aren’t that responsive when it comes to climbing and it feels slower in my opinion. Dropping down to certain surfaces in certain areas is hit or miss. She’ll tell you drop now, you drop, and she will miss whatever it is, fall and die. Happens multiple times. Free parkour also messes me up because she will also just miss platforms she has to walk on. Some machines cover way too much ground that you can’t run away, sure they are suppose to be fast but if I feel like I’m getting my cheeks clapped, I wanna be able to run away. Can’t because some have some bs attacks with ridiculous hit detection, do certain moves where you can’t attack and when they knock you down good luck getting up fast enough to get to safety. I like a challenge and the game is challenging at times but there are too many moves you can’t dodge because of the size of some of these machines. Some don’t even have enough weak spots for you to do enough damage, you shot them off and now you’re left with just armor and you’re only doing 9 damage until it dies. That might be a nit pick But quests… I hate the “search” something, someone or a way in quests. They will give you a wide area to search and your way in for example is perfectly blended in with the environment so you’re not sure what you are looking for. There are so many videos on RUclips on some of these quests because they are frustrating. If the game “forces” the player base to look up the answers and ways in to certain areas then there is a flaw in the quest design. Some quests are bugged, the game won’t always tell you exactly what to do. You have to look at an area a specific way for her to say a dialog to update the quest (best way to explain without spoiling that mission)
Holy shit why is no one talking about this. This is one of the biggest things I wanted in HZD and was not expecting to be implemented, thank you for telling me because I haven't heard about it anywhere yet. Can't wait to play it.
The second I saw someone riding a raptor, I immediately started wondering if you could get a flying mount. I went to all the cauldrons and unlocked all the flyers… only to find out you get one automatically just a few missions before the end. That was disappointing, that and how slow they are.
Yeah felt the same way it's just go here and collect these gaia components and weird alien people. Huge step back in the story department. I loved the tribes though they were the only interesting thing for me in the story.
Thanks AJ, OJ and Alex. Another great review. I absolutely loved the first game, so I will definitely come back to this video to watch the spoiler section after I've played the game. A lot commenters already mention that it doesn't matter that this review is "late". Most people still don't have a PS5 and are willing to wait with playing the game until they have it. I love that you guys still have skits, also in this format of review. That shit cracks me up everytime. Keep it up and don't worry about when you release reviews. I wouldn't mind if you waited another month to release this video and I think a lot of people would agree. We will watch and enjoy it regardless. Please don't burn yourselves out with this busy schedule.
@lebron aim$ a 6 really lmao?. Not everyone wants indies alot of people want big budget triple a shit. Not the trash ones from ubisoft or Activision but ones that R* make and naughty dog ect make. Indie games are good But they don't compare to the AAA games that was made by a proper team like rdr2 or the Witcher 3 And understandably so
Used to think this game looked beautiful on PS4 pro, but chirst on a bike, on the ps5 this game has detail on the details detail. Seeing so much depth on screen and all the texture in the distant mountains and rocks is unreal.
OJ is hilarious and welcoming. Alex is analytical and in depth. Joe is structured and brilliant. Love watching yall's content!! Keep up the fantastic work!
I found that I didn't like her right off the bat in Zero Dawn. Her motivation to potentially abandon her loving father to find out about people in her past that aren't even around anymore is selfish, narcissistic, and neglectful. I couldn't sympathize with her on that journey one bit. Her father deserved a better daughter. :/
I have to put down my 16yr old dog on a couple of hours, it's been an absolutely miserable day, I would never imagine that a f'ing stupid doritos taped to the side of OJs helmet would crack me up the way it did. Thank you guys, more of the reason I love your content. I needed that.
I did enjoy the various tribes, both in FW and the original ZD. Seeing how each differed and were culturally and visually unique as well as how they explained how those differences came about from the few bits of lore found in he open world. But FW fell a little short compared to the original ZD. in ZD we had the Nora, and Oseram and Carja and Banuk, and really got time to experience and get a feel for how they were all different. IN FW we basically have the Utaru and the Tenakth, with the quen only showing up at the end of the game with their only really noticeable features being (we use focuses abut we suppress sharing any learning), and the Zenith who we barely see at all other than two characters we talk with. The tenakth could have been really diverse and almost three separate tribes themselves, but the only really differences we se is one lives in the mountains and another lives in the desert and anther lives in the woods, and we use different color skin paint.
Yeah... DLC's aside, I think FW could have been in development for 1 year extra. You know, just to polish things more (there were quite a few bugs at the start).
I've only played about 2 hours of this but I deleted it to make room for Cyberpunk. I really enjoyed the first game - I platinumed it - but man I was so bored every time I had to have a conversation with someone. I didn't care what anyone was saying, all I wanted to do was go and kill robo dinos! Also, too many side quests/jobs etc too soon. Let me get into the game first without feeling like I have chores to do! I guess I'll go back to it one day and give it another chance but I'll be forcing myself.
I'm surprised they complain about the soundtrack. The soundtrack was perfect to me. i think they match perfectly with the environment and the scenes. The theme song was my favorite and makes me don't wanna exit the title screen.
The overall music is pretty good with a few of bits from the witcher 3, borderlands 2, and other games. Didn't like melancholic tone in the Las Vegas desert, or the annoying violin in the rebel camps.
I couldn't get into the first one at all. The world, the people, the quests, everything felt cold and dead and lacking. This one truly seems to have improved on all the stuff that held me back from immersion in the first.
Played Horizon Zero Dawn for the first time last year when it was free on the PS Store. Pretty much the highlight of my year when I finished it. I really enjoyed the game and while the story slogged at times the ending left me satisfied and intrigued for the sequel that I didn't have to wait for as long as others had to. Goes to show I guess; Different Strokes for Different Folks.
Had three issues that ruined the game. The first is Aloy is so unlikable. She keeps getting lauded as a genius and savior but she really doesn't do anything. It's all the focus doing the heavy lifting. She's so unlikable. She just talks down to everyone and everybody just licks her boots. Suddenly in this game every male is either a villain or incompetent but every woman is a genius or hero. Like all the black box recovery missions. Every pilot was female except for Faro pilots. The original had a better weapon and armor upgrade system. In the original as you upgraded the armor you would add additional pieces onto the gear. So, a maxed out piece of gear would look very different.
Okay, let me refute some of these issues. 1. Yes, it’s the Focus that does the heavy lifting. Aloy is literally one of the few people who has one & knows how to use it. She also doesn’t talk down to anyone who doesn’t deserve it. She’s just too closed off from people due to her being an outcast & not knowing how to interact with people in the best way. Why do you think she spent a lot of the first game alone? Second, not every male is a villain or incompetent. Varl, Erend, & Kotallo weren’t either, & Kotallo literally has an entire side quest dedicated to him not being incompetent. Hekarro wasn’t incompetent either & neither was Morlund. Also, Zero Dawn didn’t really have an upgrade system for weapons & armor. You’re just purchasing new sets of weapons & armor, not upgrading them like in Forbidden West. As well, the Shieldweaver armor made every other piece of armor completely useless in comparison. There’s also customization of armor colors in Forbidden West.
I can see that this game does have a lot of hand holding open world format when aloy talking to herself by helping the player and stuff like that, no wonder why one of the developer hating on the elden ring open world format.
It's made for casual audience, they need hand holding given they don't have sheer experience or time needed to figure out obstacles in games such as Elden ring, or other 'true' roleplaying games.
People forget that just because the dialog is there doesn’t mean you need to hear it all. Go with what you want and that should be sufficient. Only the lore starved people will listen to countless dialog options.
The lore is what makes me like these games. The world of horizon is very interesting when you read the texts and lore. I hope the dlc goes to the SPOILER: Sirius colony. They kind of just brushed off how the zeniths created a god.
Agree. There is way too much talking and normally i like talking. But they drag thingd out way too much and sometimes it is not very interesting. Eben normal missions such as pit fightd drag out so much because of the dialogue. And aloy comments on eberything. Ebery single thing she does she says it. Sometimes less is more
@@angelgjr1999 but it is just too much. The game is sometimes filled with unnecessary dialogue and hundreds of logs. It is overwhelming. And sometimes not needed. The mist unimpirtant missions have so much dialogue it can be annoying
"Dialogue with unnecessary NPC horniness..." Ha, just got to the Daunt a couple days ago, and I almost forgot Petra wanted a piece of her back in the first game, so I'm like, "Damn, Petra, chill."
I love this series so far and although I do agree that the dialogue can drag on at times, I don't understand how people fall off and get disinterested. This game does so many things very well and is more accessible than many similar games. It baffles me how some people downplay this game. But hey, that's just my opinion.
The open world is amazing and huge. And then you try Elden Ring. The game has so many weapons. And then you try Elden Ring. The combat is so fun. And then you try Elden Ring. The graphics look so good. And then you try Elden Ring.* The story is so intriguing. And then you try Elden Ring. Sony fucked it up by releasing this game so close to Elden Ring. *To clarify: the graphics in Forbidden West are obviously higher fidelity but... Elden Ring still ends up looking far better because of its unprecedented artistic quality and direction.
I distinctly remember wishing all of the tribal story stuff in HZD was gone and it was just you fighting dinos and discovering the truth about Zero Dawn.
I just hate the lingering animations. Jumping to ledges and dangling for 3 seconds, hard knockdowns for what feels like 5 seconds, those are my only real issues. I wish melee combat was more viable, since human enemies can be all defeated and none left after the story and rebel spots. Machines don't get affected by melee combat aside from a full charge heavy knocking them down, or it lacks impact with normal melee.
Good review. I enjoy the game. The graphics and gameplay was excellent. It had a few bugs but it didn't stop my experience. I knew the game wouldn't be good as the first one. The first was the story of Aloy origin and the world. It was great story and it had that emotional feeling to it. Second game couldn't match to it but it still told a great story. Enemies was unique and beautiful. Everybody have their own opinion but it is game worth buying.
It is better than the first one in every way though lol. Take the rose tinted glasses of and replay hzd after hfw and you will be shocked how much it improved upon.
The hive mind mentality with reviews is getting to be such a joke. People can't seem to grasp that an opinion is just an opinion. Story will always be subjective. Play it for yourself then decide. I appreciate Angry Joe's reviews however I have to disagree with his take on the story and he really lost me when he basically said the music was forgettable. I respect his opinion but this one was just too off base for me.
@@cirescythe its a different narrative. The first one the world was mysterious, u uncovered how things got to that point and how u fit into the world. In this one you know most of those answers so the world isn't nearly as mysterious. You've encounter dino mechs b4 and hostile ppl so its mostly familiar threats presented in a different way.
I have both Horizon: Zero Dawn/Frozen Wilds and Horizon: Forbidden West both a perfect score of 10/10, even though Horizon: Forbidden West is bigger, better, more visually attractive and in every way than it's predecessor, due to the technology available at the time, which is understandable. There are a total of 22 games that I have given a perfect 10/10 in my 27 years of PC gaming.
@@thebenc1537 that's a pretty silly take. The game is great but yeah I suppose you could extrapolate a "white man = bad" subtext from some of it. And yes there are a disproportionate amount of female warriors in the game. But really, who cares, it's just a game and it doesn't feel bad to play as Aloy.
H:ZD is one of my favorite cinematic/epic games of all time. That story put me on my ass once I got the whole thing. But the final boss battle was just ungodly bad. So disappointing. I’m hoping H:FW doesn’t suffer the same sad conclusion.
It’s more of a 7 to me. I disagree with joe the first had a better story. Everyone in this game is either a moustache twirling villain or loves alloy a little to much. Which makes everything including the side missions boring
The game is fun but the force feminist and sjw moments can be annoying. Also the fact that the delvopers bashed elden ring and thinks that everyone wants or needs our hand held with 100's of icons is ridiculous. Still a pretty good game. I just wish that developers would stop putting some much of their personal political agenda's in their games. They have every right too but it's getting old. If you are going to do it atleast out some thought into it.
I actually appreciate when characters are talking to themselves and dynamically commenting on what is going on in the game. Even if they are stating obvious things. I haven't played the Forbidden West yet, but I loved how talkative Aloy was in the original Horizon. For me it shows that the characters thinks for themselves, has their own feelings and character, and is not just a mindless drone controlled by the player.
Thanks for the review guys. I love the game but my issues are the climbing and recovery when she gets knocked down. She takes so long to get back up that the machine is already attacking again. And there has been times when I would climb to the top of a mountain and then can't get atop it and have to shimmy to another area to do so. But I take my time with these types of game. I haven't even completed it yet and I've had it since launch. Without a new game plus I don't feel any need to rush. I still have a lot to do. Arenas, Ruins. Pits. And I seem to find random people in the middle of nowhere to give my new quest. So I'm having fun and just learning to deal with the cons of the game.
It's about the world actually, if story is bad that is fine , it is a game not movie, but actual world, world building, art direction, bgm, well written characters, writing and of course gameplay if all that is good , then story or narrative actually doesn't matter

@@pwndizzy3873 elden ring! for gods sake the bottom tier soldiers can wreck you if they manage to gang up on you
It basically tracks your imputs.

Well the blight clears up when u finish the game

That was my exact experience with Zero Dawn lol. I uninstalled it twice because I couldn't bear the NPC interactions. But then finally the game opens up with gameplay freedom and I sunk like 300 hours into it.

Same. The music is incredible. And soooooo many songs.

The OST is good I think. And YES, the looting system and upgrade system is RIDICULOUS. Legendary weapon upgrade criteria is just absolutely stupid
The best part in the entire game for me so far has been everything with the Theater troop in Vegas. That section of the game was just so charming and silly and I loved every second they were on screen.
That was one of my favorite parts too

"yeah I know aloy shut up"
Might be my most used phrase playing this game
My experience was totally the opposite. The characters are extremely boring. The world is bland. The people seem like zombies and talk like robots. Hunting monsters were cool but inventory management broke the gameplay and immersion. Most of the missions were missions were terribly designed. The game also hand holds. I've tried on ps4 and pc to play and complete horizon zero dawn and the dlc but I was bored to death. Forbidden west is more of the same so I will I'm good. This series is completely overrated imo. Beautiful graphics though.

Considering this is GG's second open world game, despite the few cons regarding dialogue, it's another ball outta the park on this one.

You clearly were paying no attention if you think that is supposed to be the case.
@@randomiser2267 ‘your opinion is wrong and you’re stupid’ good one 🙄
Spoiler alert:
Her moment of internal conflict was failing to shoot and ultimately kill Beta after promising her she wouldn't allow Beta to be captured by Far Zenith. She had a clear and open shot, but couldn't bring herself to do it, especially after seeing Varl die.
She also struggled with the burden of trying to live up to the legacy of Elisabet.

Lol.
Then Joe why is it so boring?
It's not, he's just blabbing
Got the plat on this, can’t wait for the DLC and the 3rd instalment !
Such a cool and wonderful (in a deadly way lol) world they created
Returnal was my last platinum so when I'm done with Elden ring (on PC) I might try platinum this on ps5 next. How long did it take you?
I'm also looking forward to more and I have a feeling there will be some dlc content like the first horizon had.
I hope we get a dlc where we get to SPOILER:
See what Happened In the Sirius colony.
I for one love the dialogue. There is a lot of lore that makes the world more complex and interesting.
I love dialogue heavy games but this game’s story and lore is often so boring
I'm 50-50 with it since I want to get invested but am not patient enough to slog through the dialogues. What I mostly do is I still click on each dialogue but I skip every single line, just quickly reading the subtitle, skimming through what they have to say instead of waiting for them to deliver each line. The voice acting and animation is amazing but goddang, there's way too much talking that takes you out of the game.
One big suggestion I'd give the story writers is try to be more concise, and show, don't tell.
I have to half-agree, the dialogue in this game is well-executed for anything that isn't an exposition dump
Whenever a conversation's intent felt like it was solely to get information to the player, those were the main ones I didn't like
I set off to find a crab to craft a bigger ammo pouch, and i'm gone all day. I'm now over 200 hours in...
Way too much dialogue in this one over ZD. Also Aloy just talks way too much, can't go 2 seconds without her telling the player what to do
Cons would be traversal, some machines and quest design.
That might be a nit pick
But quests… I hate the “search” something, someone or a way in quests.
It’s amazing how u guys didn’t go over how awesome the override system was u can fucking fly that’s why it’s a 9/10
Holy shit why is no one talking about this.
Honestly the opening skits they do are the best 👌 I'm here for OJ in any costume!
As much as I want to love this game, I can’t deal with the main story. I’ve seen some people enjoy it which is great, but I could not get invested
Yeah felt the same way it's just go here and collect these gaia components and weird alien people. Huge step back in the story department. I loved the tribes though they were the only interesting thing for me in the story.
Yeah I think it's too much too.
@lebron aim$ a 6 really lmao?. Not everyone wants indies alot of people want big budget triple a shit. Not the trash ones from ubisoft or Activision but ones that R* make and naughty dog ect make.
Indie games are good
But they don't compare to the AAA games that was made by a proper team like rdr2 or the Witcher 3
And understandably so
Used to think this game looked beautiful on PS4 pro, but chirst on a bike, on the ps5 this game has detail on the details detail. Seeing so much depth on screen and all the texture in the distant mountains and rocks is unreal.
OJ is hilarious and welcoming. Alex is analytical and in depth. Joe is structured and brilliant. Love watching yall's content!! Keep up the fantastic work!
I really love dystopia and bleak stuff, so the first game's story was amazing to me, absolutely loved it! Some really cool topics and themes
Sorry to hear about your dog, friend. I'm sure you gave them a great life. 16 is a good age, but I know that doesn't make it any easier.
Same.
I think the first one was not as bloated as the second onr though, dialogue wise
First hours are tough dude, game was really boring and like you said, everyrhing was bland and cold. But with story progression i started to get into it.
Goes to show I guess; Different Strokes for Different Folks.
for me it's the opposite, it was just more of the same.
I felt the same + I went completionist so it really felt like a drag at >75%. The dlc in terms of story felt so much more alive.
@@iamtired4974 lol that’s kinda sad though there’s nothing to even really figure out just basic stuff that anyone should be able to pick up on
People forget that just because the dialog is there doesn’t mean you need to hear it all. Go with what you want and that should be sufficient. Only the lore starved people will listen to countless dialog options.
The lore is what makes me like these games. The world of horizon is very interesting when you read the texts and lore. I hope the dlc goes to the SPOILER:
Sirius colony.

The story is so intriguing. And then you try Elden Ring.
Sony fucked it up by releasing this game so close to Elden Ring.
*To clarify: the graphics in Forbidden West are obviously higher fidelity but... Elden Ring still ends up looking far better because of its unprecedented artistic quality and direction.
And then there was Square Enix releasing Babylon's Fall at the same time too lmao. Game has like 10 players on steam now
@Michael Lochlann Have you played it?
Thank you for the effort you put in joe. It really means a lot to us.
@@thebenc1537 that's a pretty silly take. The game is great but yeah I suppose you could extrapolate a "white man = bad" subtext from some of it. H:ZD is one of my favorite cinematic/epic games of all time. That story put me on my ass once I got the whole thing. But the final boss battle was just ungodly bad. So disappointing. I’m hoping H:FW doesn’t suffer the same sad conclusion.

I always get a pang of excitement whenever I see you’ve uploaded a review thank you guys for such awesome content !!
Hope you guys have time set aside to try out the other releases in the past few weeks, surprisingly a lot of good titles so far this year.
If you are going to do it atleast out some thought into it.
you can disable all the HUDs and then play it less guided.
What political agendas are in the game? Wtf are you on about? I 100% it and never found any.
I play these 70% for the story and 30% for the gameplay. if the story doesn't immerse me then it hurts the gameplay itself

It's about the world actually, if story is bad that is fine , it is a game not movie, but actual world, world building, art direction, bgm, well written characters, writing and of course gameplay if all that is good , then story or narrative actually doesn't matter
