I was hoping to see the IR-01 in this mix. Yeah, I know, it's not a "real" car but it'd probably give that Merc F1 car a challenge. Would love to see a heads-up race between the two sometime.
Would love to see some more of you all join us in the Formula A Grand Prix Tour series next year. These are full length grand prix races with mandatory use of two compounds like in real life. During the real F1 season we get excellent participation and, at select times, SOF's in top split at anywhere from 3.6K to around 4.8K give or take. The W13 is a fantastic car to drive and with practice and commitment it makes for incredible racing. The racing etiquette and cleanliness of wheel to wheel action is extremely high. Absolutely brilliant community of regulars.
Mate, you're an absolute monster behind the wheel. I bet if you gave the W13 a genuine crack over a season you'd do extremely well! You'd run rings around me in a GT3 I can tell you that! 😆
Wow, that was super cool to see in action. Sure on paper is one thing, but to see it happen is another. It was comical how fast you passed the Miata even after doing so many donuts 😂
IndyCars are quite rapid also and can outrun F1 in a straight line since they don’t have as much downforce. Would be interesting to see how that would compare at LeMans. Me thinks a lot less burnout time would have been available lol
They need a much longer straight than F1 cars are designed to run on. Then when they run in that trim, would be basically useless on any braking zone…they struggle to get into the pits at Indy.
Nice idea for a video Dave! Always been a great driver to watch but there's an excellent entertainer in there too! We know your middle name is Dave 'I don't do downforce' Cam, but a full F1 GP race would be a great challenge? One idea for 100k? Or even mirroring the the entire real F1 season next year under your Lewis Camilton alter ego?
That's not pointless at all - I've always wondered how an F1 car would do against, say, the latest hybrids. Can you do a longer version and talk us through it?
Does anyone know how the tire physics work, especially with that f1 car? I’ve used the W13 a lot and it seems like if I burnout like that or have a big lockup, then the traction is completely gone until I reset the car. It didn’t seem like he seemed to struggle with it though. Does a small amount of burnout actually help by warming up the tires? And how long does it take to warm up cold tires? Even with other cars, I heard when you’re in a race that iracing simulates a warm up lap so when you’re on the grid your tires are a little warmer than coming off the pits. I’ve just struggled to find good information about the tires, it doesn’t seem like there’s any good Reddit threads explaining it.
This doesn't answer your question, but I have learned that short shifting (shifting very early) is the only way to drive the car off the line from a dead stop. (especially since Dave is so much more skilled than I am) 🙂 If you watch F1 races, you can hear the drivers actually short shift in practice when the traction is low.
The Nissan got put on pole and the 499 was behind it. AI likes to just give up on passing extremely slower cars on straights. Case in point being if you were to go to something like Indy or road America and put 10-15 formula Vees and then fill the rest with something faster like a USF2000 and they won’t know what to do
Fun little break 😁 It's my last day off from work until someday after Christmas so no more binging youtube for a while. Happy Christmas to you and they missus, Dave!
No car gave the Ferrari F499P a run for its money... because there is no Ferrari F499P in iRacing, just a pathetic release, as realistic as FORZA Horizon.
@@meawayfromhome all fine and dandy if iRacing did not present itself as "the" simulation, when in fact it falls well short, shorter than AC, AMS2, RR3, rF2, LMU... lol maybe even Forza and GT7.
Never a pointless video from you Dave.
supposed to change up as soon as the blue lights show... F1 is fuel flow limited so max power is around 10500rpm, reving out to 15000 is a waste.
😂 have some chill it was just a 1 lap fun event 😅
@ just trying to help for next time. 🤭
Is that why he never went above 7th gear ?? weird

Definitely not pointless, I quite liked seeing the comparison. Thanks Dave.

I was too slow to compete in these things 🤣

They can only outrun f1 cars in the straights if they run like a speedway setup but then theyd be useless in the corners
I'd love to see a iRacing Grand Prix Tour video from you when it's back up in March.

Thanks Dave, was fun video.
This is a sick video. Almost like an art piece. It reminds me of the Ari Vaitanen film. Good stuff Dave
8th gear exists btw
He didn’t use DRS so there’s too much downforce at max speed, which makes shifting into 8th gear irrelevant
It's pointless at Le Mans 😁
@@bryceweltin2803 blue lights on = shift up. So no, not irrelevant.
It slowed down when shifting to 8th so as I said, pointless
@@davecamyt that’s because the hybrid system cuts out. Anyway cool video maybe join us Saturday night for our SOF race at the Redbull ring 😜
Dave did you put the legacy lmp 1 cars in. I can do 3:14 laps here in the Porsche 919.
That Nissan... 🔥
You should use some mistress's dinner out day to race a SOF race of the IMSA vintage. 👌
Savage vid Dave! The M2 will need therapy after than one.

Fun is never pointless mate.
Dave is this car fun to drive how does it compare to f4?

Lemons should be on the GP calendar.

Happy Christmas buddy 😁
how in the world did you manage to do that burnout and not end up in the wall t1???
Lots of attempts 🤣
mad number 11s at the start
I love the Nissan so much wish they used it more, one of my favorite drives
I own the W13 and it’s crazy to drive in the sim.
Omg!! How long do you want to stretch each gear out.
Until my wheel flashed 😁
@davecamyt in car wheel was screaming to change it 5000rpm ago lol!! Great vid tho 👍
No Indycar huh? You bastard…
F1 can’t even finish Le Mans, let alone win it
P1 in how many seconds 😂😂
That was awesome.
Remarkable performance, allied to an awful power unit sound.
That’s a horrible Dyson sound.
You forgot about 8 gear Dave
It just died when shifting to 8th 😁
fast but sounds pants
You beauty!
drs?
Not at Le Mans
Wow!
ok

@valrer_vava74 Every comment you make is negative. Lighten up man.
