My heart jumped when Jack said he bought his 69 Z from "Don Allen Chevrolet" in Pittsburgh. I bought my first Camaro there in 1973 after returning from overseas. It wasn't a Z but i loved that car. Ironically, tomorrow at age 71 I'm buying a 1969 Z28. The 302 has been replaced w/ a 383 stroker but aside from that and probably a few other details Ill get as close as a i can to a real Z. Get job Jack in keeping your car together. My invoice was $3,448.

I have owned two Camaros, a 1967 and a 1971. I bought the 71 new, and with a 350 4-speed, it stickered at just over $3,500. I would love to buy this car and finish it, but have no money, no place to keep it, and am too old to do the work anymore. I hope to see this car on RUclips when it’s completed. Keep us posted! Thanks much.

Another thing to think about on the distributor, alternator, and starter was that they were made in a Delco Remy plant and they were used by quite a lot of GM models so they were made in mass numbers and stocked. He didn't mention the water pump or radiator but it wouldn't have been unusual to have had them replaced without saving the original ones.

I have owned 2 1969 Camaro’s, both Yenko’s, one I bought brand new in 1969, the other was a few years ago, and a basket case, it was a real car, but not number matching, did a full restoration on it, beautiful cars, but restoring them, even with all the parts he has is a very expensive process. I’m just finishing a 5 year frame off, on a 1972 W-30 Olds 442, I ordered brand new, it’s not something you want to attempt if you count on making money, or even breaking even, you will not. I really enjoy your channel, very informative and interesting. 👍

Come on guys those date discrepancies are easily explained. The guy wanted a 4-10 geared rear end and Chevy probably had an issue with supply chain , so they placed his car in holding and unfortunately the most likely robbed the distributor and starter to put on other cars thinking they would could run get some out of storage to replace his and unfortunately the dates went somewhat haywire. I have worked in automotive and heavy equipment producing manufacturing all my life and production is the life line of the business. Those assembly lines only stop when there is no other choice and when they are stopped the company is bleeding money and not making a penny. Nothing shady happened on this car and those parts rolled out the door bolted to that car in 1969.
The 1969 Camaro Z28 with a Chevy 302 is the best damn looking car that has ever been made and everything else pales in comparison. That is my dream car and I have always wanted one and its the only car that I can say that I truly wanted but never been fortunate enough to own one. Unless a pot of gold falls out of the sky and lands in my lap some day, I will never own one and that sucks but that's also a little thing called life. I hope someone buys this car and does not turn it into some drag car or tub it out but gives her all the modern bells and whistles that will make her a reliable and comfortable for her age daily driver and then i hope they drive the wheels off. 1969 were never meant to be trailer queens they were meant to abuse rubber and never pass a gas station! You guys just do not know how lucky you are. I am not joking there is not another car, truck or motorcycle on planet earth that I would trade as 69 Camaro for.

I think in 69 the square key works the door and the steering colom, the rounded key fits the trunk and glovebox. I had a 69 Z/28 in 74 for $200. It hit a pole and was totaled. I got it from the original owner. I fixed it and got in trouble with it with it my mom made me sell it. I was 16, it was very fast and fun to fast for a 16 year old first car.

That's true but just like entire 69 Camaros, back in the day, that engine was just another Chevy small block. Nobody cared about keeping numbers. With not much more rust, that car would have hit the junkyard and been crushed. These days the machine shop might save the number, but who knows. What mass produced cars today will be worth more than scrap in 50 years?

The Camaro L78 and COPO L72 used the 4346 which has a vented front fuel bowl.
    M19 is a good date for a real 480.
Distributors must predate the engine assembly date - Starters and Alternators were installed on the engine dress line at Norwood or Van Nuys assembly plants and could be dated later than the engine assembly date. Cool note about original intakes and original distributors... they are STAKED with a chisel at the factory after the timing is set - engines were run in using natural gas so as not to have latent fuel in the engines during rail shipping.
12 bolt rear ends were dated as close to the build date as any part my 2 - 4.10 - 1969 Z's had rears that were dated within a few days of the car shipping dates. 4/18 rear - 4/23 shipping 10/31 rear 11/4 shipping
MY original unrestored Corvette's starter is dated 2 months after the engine assembly date BUT a week before my car was built.

I wish a had a couple hundred G's to purchase this very few left of a dying breed. The way it sits, the value is out of 90% of us. Best of Luck to the buyer. Do it Justice.

You would pay a 100 grand for this car if you had it? Then another 60k to build it and have a maybe 70k car?

He has the car forever. Why doesn't the owner power thru and finish the car. You can help him Parker.

Cause he knew it's a lose situation if he spends the $ to finish it he won't get it back.
