🤗 I know I'm not alone in having this work, like luminous and transcendent birdsong, as my "Desert Island Piano Concerto". After a year's practice, My father played it in public when I was about 11 yo - and that was an aspect of my childhood I wouldn't change for the world. In the 'Adagio' one member of the audience, a big bloke, began to cry. But who would play it on my island, with the waves lapping and the seagulls riding the air? Radu Lupu - Murray Perahia and Wilhelm Kempff - all three, if you want to understand this concerto fully. But why was Radu Lupu the only one not granted a studio recording? In its absence, these few public performances are priceless.
La versione più intima che abbia mai ascoltato in vita mia! Anche rispetto a quella dello stesso Lupu con Zinman! Una meraviglia! La cadenza del 1° tempo da antologia!
