- At East Fork Christmas Tree Farm in Ridgefield WA we have a list of tasks that have to be done every year. The schedule varies a little due to weather, availability of product and our time schedule. This video shows a calendar of jobs that we try to get done annually. The main jobs include: planting, fertilizing, spraying herbicide, aphid control, shearing and harvesting. @FlanaganHomestead

Here is a short video 😬
Great info, but question. What are your thoughts on a smaller scale say 200 trees as far as mulching for weed control, for the first 2 years? Trying to stay away from chemical use as much as I can, for now.
Mulching is a great option if you have the ability to do all your trees. We tried to go without herbicide for a couple years and just couldn’t keep up.
Rob may i ask, as i’m sure it may change but what is your personal favorite tree that you farm? Norseman? Grand?
It used to be noble fir. But now we select nordmann fir to put in our home because it has great needle retention. As a farmer I like them because they seem to get less disease and the aphids don’t bother them.
