I needed this podcast today! Battling my own demons from a list of mental health issues, letting everything get me down and struggling to get back up. So I took a day to just chill out and watch a podcast, and I'm so glad I chose this one. Everything Joe and Jimmy said about suicide is so true, I had 7 attempts to my name before I even turned 30, and I still have my moments to this day when the voices pop up in my head telling me to do something. What makes it worse is when people try to sympathise with you and how you're feeling, with things like "I know how you feel"... That's so dangerous, and the biggest lie ever because we never really know how people are feeling. ❤
Enjoyed the show wasn't a big Jimmy Carr fan but found a new side to both Joe and Jimmy and really enjoyed hearing their thoughts on helping new stand up comics. If there is one thing we could use more of it would be laughter-it's hard to be pissed off when you're laughing your ass off.
Jimmy is smart and funny as hell!! If you watch him with hecklers….woooweeee he gets dirty and it’s hilarious! But I totally agree that you seen another side of them both. I find that with a lot of the people that come on here…some who I’m like ugh he’s not going to be fun then I’m proven wrong. I really enjoy ones like Dr Phil who lets his hair down and isn’t like the Dr Phil you normally see…he’s still himself but I feel like he’s more comfortable
I love Joe's podcast but I cannot believe Jimmy Carr is on here? Jimmy is a British legend. A national treasure pretty much. Lots of clever wordplay gags n lots of sick stuff too. So pleased Joe loves Jimmy's work. 😊
Joe is there to listen, it's very much a professional discussion. Joe opens up a conversation and appreciates the participant extending that conversation and opening up new lines of thinking, on topic, with clarity and purpose. Great podcast, if I have taken one line out of this as a headline it would be "suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem"
A girl was about to suicide at home and waited for her parents to go out to do this. She got bored waiting for them to leave the house so went on RUclips and randomly found a Jimmy Carr video and then laughed her arse off to it and decided she had fun watching it which gave her second thoughts, she told that to Mr Carr 15 or so years later.
Jimmy is my absolute favorite comedian. But, it was all his serious life advice and anecdotes that were appreciated considering my current situation. Thanks for that, Jimmy!
the best advice I've ever gotten: If you're feeling depressed: You must get out of it because depression leads to nowhere and to nothing. There is nothing that can be accomplished within depression. And so if you find yourself depressed, figure out how to become angry. Whether it's at yourself, at God, at the world, whatever... get angry. Anger begets action and indeed, whatever that action might be, even if it's negative, it's better than the dirt-nothing that was in depression. Once you are actually -doing- anything, you are in a better state than the sorry, inaction of that depression and keep getting angry until you can string-together your way up and out of the bed, off the couch, out of the house.
that's right. mushrooms taught me this. i wasn't angry at myself, i was angry at the world. cured my chronic depression with a trip. the next step in enlightenment is realizing anger is a path divergent from love, and one of these paths begets more happiness for all than the other path. It takes life experiences to advance to the path of love, even for nuisances, annoyances, and pure evil.
Anger works. It's pulled me out of some pretty dark places, it's really saved me.. but always have an antidote for the anger, there's nothing worse than a fierce creature you can't contain, it will eat you
