Video showing some footage from around Stormblood's newest (and grandest) city. It absolutely trashes the cities from ARR, and it's just so much more lively than Ishgard. The fact that it's all on one map is great, the market section being right next to the Aetheryte with a summoning bell and board means that the market section is going to feel like a market section this time around. Then there's the jumping puzzle which is infuriatingly enjoyable, the architecture is incredible, especially when you travel the different sections of the city. Overall love Kugane, which is strange because prior to Stormblood I was concerned I wouldn't be a big fan of the Far Eastern theme but I'm glad to be proven wrong!

@@CodyRockLee13 I think even to this day it's my favorite leitmotif of all of them. I like all expacs a lot, feel they all have their ups and downs, music is something I love a lot in any and all of them. And while I REALLY love Heavensward's and Shadowbringers' leitmotifs there is something about Stormblood's that just gets me the most, whether it's in Kugane's theme, in the towns itself, in Triumph(my fav Dungeon Boss theme even now), or the Worm's Tail(still one of my top 5 boss themes.) Kugane was a sort of 'turning point' place for me WoL when they had to actually Git Gud for the first time in their lives after having most victories come easily.

I myself arrived in Kugane yesterday for the first time 28th March 2022. I recognised the motif playing immediately as I gazed around in wonder at the unfamiliar sights.
I think my second surprised when mention of the Garlean Consulate made me realise that this nation is free of the Empire as much as the Eorzean Alliance. Immediately I wonder if Hingta is it? Could be an ally against the Garleans.
Alas, it looks like we’ll be leaving Kugane all to soon. A shame though because for the first time in a long while I feel like my WoL is in a totally alien and unfamiliar place.
I hope we see more of Japanese/Far Eastern designs and themes after crossing the Ruby Sea to Doma. Though doubtless it’ll be a straight sail across. More like our trip here from Limsa Lominsa.
Still, tonight we’ll see.
This place blew my mind when I first arrived
It blew my mind when I arrived for the first time last night. I don’t think I’ve ever felt quite like that before.
I felt like me and my WoL had just stepped into a completely alien and unfamiliar place. I felt a bit out of my depth. And then I find out the only Garlean presence is the Consulate. The Empire does not rule here. Hingta? The country Kugane belongs to must be strong to retain that freedom. Immediate respect.
I can’t wait to see what lies before me in the Ruby Sea.
Easily, easily, easily my favorite major city to feature in this game thus far. It's so filled with loving little touches and perfectly-framed scenery, and is incredibly fun merely to traverse thanks to the intentional parkour-friendly layout.
Omg yesss like I just started playing stormblood for the first time and seeing this city is just such a fresh breath air from any city in ff14 so far, and it really different approaches from the series no final fantasy explore those type of stuff
I arrived in Kugane for the first time yesterday. It’s truly a spectacular sight. And to have a Garlean Embassy the country must be strong to have kept its freedom.
The only thing I didn’t like was when I got a bit lost and had trouble getting to two of the ship Captains during the MSQ. I eventually got it though.
I can’t wait to see what waits for me in the Ruby Sea although I doubt it’s going to be quick or easy getting to Doma.

I started FF14 3-4 months ago. I arrived for the first time in Kugane a week ago. I dropped my computer when the music started! I stayed several minutes in front of my computer to listen to this ost. Best music!

I used to hang in a spot, sittin and lookin at the sea while I waited for my qs and dig this song (both day and night version). The music used to relax me and ease my chronical headache/soothe the pain. 😊

I arrived in Kugane yesterday and I was totally blown away. I can just see the level of effort the Devs put in to making this the FF14 representation of their culture and history.
My WoL and I felt like we’d truly arrived in a strange but beautiful foreign land. A powerful one given they have remained free from the Garleans.
I can appreciate the music even more with this camera work. So nice

I have a massive love-hate relationship with this game. My ex put me on because she absolutely loved it. It took me time to find enjoyment from it bexause ARR was a real drag. But I liked Heavensward, but fell in love with the game in Stormblood.
My ex and I really bonded over this game, but the experience couldn't fully be shared because she kept spoiling things right before they happened. next thing that happened around before we reach Kugane, she completely abandoned me without warning in favor of friends. We were supposed to have this bonding thing going, but then she abandoned everything I was looking forward to for a few friends.
I decided after months of abandonment, and beating Stormblood alone, that I would put the game down and do Shadowbringers in my own time. This was honestly a catalyst for our breakup. We didn't break up over a game, but it definitely revealed some underlying issues we both had.
While I still feel the game broke a bond, I still have a strange love for it. And when I'm bored at work, I just play some of this on the radio or headphones while I'm on the road.

This is the first song that started playing after I found out a friend had passed away... it will always make me think of him. Because of the aesthetic, it hit extra hard during the last Doman cutscene with the lanterns; I imagined dedicating mine to him.

As a long time wow player turned ff player, I felt like the whole aesthetic is what Pandaria aspired to be but didn't quite hit. The Eastern theme here is masterfully done.

I arrived in Kugane yesterday. I could immediately see the amount of care and love the Devs had put into creating the FF14 version of their culture and history. The very fact that Hingatashi was a free nation strong enough to resist the Garlean Empire and made them seek peace and an Embassy spoke volumes to me too.
Not that I blame them. And Kugane is really cool.

If you hold down the screenshot hotkey or something all ui goes away so you can do this
You can also go in first person mode! It's like capslock on PC or something!
You can actually edit the hotkeys in your settings "keybind" so you get the option to screenshot, first person mode, etc etc
It's an alright theme, though it doesn't come close to the majesty of Ishard's theme!
The fact that there are parts of the FFX OST mixed in make this so much more perfect
still to this day Kugane is the most imprtant town for me. I made wonderful friends on the Tower. May Kugane bring you all wonderful friendships too.

This theme is such a masterpiece, it's incredibly beautiful. I catch myself humming it quite often

Okay, so I see where it's going. They tried to recreate an Asian-flavored Limsa theme. But when the flute takes the fore, it's just a hair off sync and messes up the marching, Imperial City vibe.
Also most DDR players will hear 'A Geisha's Dream' in here and start cursing volubly to themselves.
This theme is timeless. When it really gets going and red at beautiful flute comes in Jesus ❤️❤️❤️

I know a good way to cheat getting up the post to not have to jump off the building. You need to be blue mage and need a healer to be up there to revive you.

Without a doubt, one of the best town/field themes in FF14.
I've accepted i'll never be able to do the tower puzzle...as i am impatient and its too hard on my lalafell

Not to long ago I was in a similar spot. Trust me it’s hardest the first time since it’s like pressure when you finally almost hit the top, but once you get it it’s gets way easier. Don’t worry, if your frustrated that means your close to getting to the top.

It's a good theme, but you hear the same tune over and over again throughout the expansion and it gets pretty tiring imo...
Heavensward had a similar thing going on and many games tend to do the same thing; same thing with many variations of it. Nintendo is king of that.

Dragonsamurai Yes, Heavensward did but not at this level. It at least had a different overworld battle theme and the cities, towns and sanctuaries had a different tune.
Stormblood uses the Kugane tune a lot in many areas.
And yes, I know it's called a leitmotif.
It also doesn't help that the tracks sound really similar to each other when they use the theme.
Town themes to a lesser extent but when the theme kicks in during the final boss it's barely any different than how it is during dungeon bosses, which is a far cry from Thordan and Nidhogg's take on HW's main theme.
Hopefully the tune is really nice, or else it would've been terrible ^^'
