I just did a random side quest where I was helping a mother track down her son who fled to avoid being conscripted… as I finished the quest this song was playing and I unexpectedly started weeping. There are many emotional stories in this world I am discovering through my MSQ journey.
Per the soundtrack, we now know this is called "Old Wounds." What a perfect title.
Oh wow I didn't know that thank you. Do you know if this is available as an orchestral roll?
@@ravenblair1991 You can get this in exchange for yellow gathering scrip!
Three years later, I still find myself listening to this song, and realizing that it's still my favourite song in the entirety of FFXIV. I consider it the main song of my Warrior of Light, and my brother says it reminds him of me, myself.
After playing the game for so long, it's a perfect symbol of my WoL and all that he stands for. It's beautiful, hopeful, timeless, and familiar, yet incredibly sorrowful and tragic, showing his journey of starting as a kind optimist, and ending as a heartbroken man who clings to hope and his friends, to achieve his goal. He's so different from the man that set off on his journey, because he's seen so much tragedy, and this song perfectly illustrates his pain in such an emotional way.
It takes a truly strong person to be a hero, but doing so is tearing him apart on the inside.
The fact that the composer is able to evoke all of this from me speaks so highly of their talent. I'll always have this song, and it'll always be a part of me, and for that, I'm so grateful.
lolwut
Yo dude, some japanese youtuber did a piano cover of this same song. I know youll love it - search for: 【FF14】古傷〜ギラバニア湖畔地帯:夜〜 ピアノで弾いてみた(lochs night bgm piano cover)
get a job
@@HeeMcGee Lmao you have to have a job to pay for ff14 but ok
@@HeeMcGee Get ratio'd
It's funny. Music has "evolved" so much, but it's so easy to appreciate just the simple excellent piano work of this piece, and Lost City of Amdapor HM as well.
Definitely one of the top tier zone music pieces, along with its daytime version.
FF14 basically has *the* best OST of anything, so much of it across the board is simply of excellent quality.
I totally agree with you. Personaly, it only falls seconds against the Mechanicus soundtrack, but is only my personal preference.
The OST of this game is blowing my mind every time I reach a new zone or dungeon, my gods.
@@Taoscuro3003 Glad to hear you're enjoying the game. OST pretty much only keeps getting better. :D
@@jaeusa160 Yeah. Just started one month ago and I already finished Stormblood xDDD
I did all Alexander (a friend of mine at max lvl help me out without need of group) and I think is the best raid I ever seen. And I played a LOT of mmos in my short life xD
@@Taoscuro3003 Alexander did do one of the best wrap ups to a time travel based story, it's really difficult to make those work. If you mean mechanics and aesthetics, it still gets better I feel. :)
Alexander was when they started really getting their own grip on how they want to build encounters. Have fun in Shadowbringers, even better music and fights!
Only other MMO I've played that comes close in terms of variety and quality of OST is Ragnarok Online -- also of high quality across the board.
It hurts so much listening to this track now.
I just heard this for the first time :D I just beaten stormblood when I went to the lochs, and saw my first quicklevin storm, while this was playing. It was so beautiful, i spent 20 minutes flying around and making mist on the water with my mount and enjoying the music and scenery. :D Moments like this makes me love ffxiv so much…
The literal same thing just happened to me, and it led me here! Such a beautiful piece.
Why am I sitting here crying…again! Such a beautiful song. It makes me feel so many things.
I am in tears. What a heartfelt, moving song. You can feel the pianist's soul through the song. It's so beautiful.
Coming back to songs like these makes me want to learn how to pay the piano so badly.
first of all you're gonna need something called money. jokes aside: it is a great piano song indeed.
The trill at ~2:10 is totally unfair to my emotions and composure
serisothikos Every time I pass back over this part of the song I rmemeber this comment and feel the need to hug you because somebody else felt this in their core. ❤
Wow! This is EXACTLY when the feels hit me and my eyes begin to water. Love this score so much, it will never come off my house orchestrion playlist.
The soundtrack of FFXIV is overall extremely enjoyable and touching, and I love many, many tracks. But this one is just something else... so fucking powerful.
This just feels so powerful. When the pianist is going at it full on, I feel almost overwhelmed. It’s hard to describe but I know it’s an amazing feeling.
Where this song truly shines is in the transition from day to night while you are in the middle of The Lochs.
Piano at it's finest
Gyr abania is so underrated. Maybe im biased because i live in a desert country too, but I can’t help it xD
It's honestly a really cool place. I've always loved how they managed to have it be so different from Thanalan (and later Amh Araeng) despite them both being relatively arid landscapes.
I still can't listen to this without crying lmao
Yeah. I’m sitting here crying. Beautiful piece.
Ever since i heard it for the first time the first 20 seconds or so fill me with nostalgia as it sounds like Naussica of the valley of wind which is one of my all time favorite movies.
YES IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO THINKS THIS YESSSS THANK YOU
The Lost City of Amdapor, if you haven't listened to it yet, pays homage to the main melody of Naussica
What a song to be listening to if you're sitting enjoying a little relaxing drink after 5 long nights of work =)
one of my fav night pieces ever, not just in ff14
1:20 where it kills me making me cry, it reminds of the good moments that happened in my life and gives me hope
This part is truly the best one
Finally! A long version with high volume! thank you!
Booco I apologize because I feel like I am a cause to your suffering. I intended to remake my video because of the low volume but then life happened and now I no longer have a ps4.
Speechless...
Simply beautiful.
You don't know how much I love you for uploading this life changing music. Thanks a million times.
I love to go to the top of the giant broken stairs in the lochs while it’s raining and just watch the thunder in the distance
4:06 is absolutely incredible.
For some reason I can feel winter in this music
Finally!!! *---* I was waiting for you uploading this track. It is one of my very favourites from SB.
Thank you so much! Keep up the good work!
Listening to this makes me want to forget some stuff from the past
I WAITED PATIENTLY FOR THIS.
Me and my dog love listening to this
Called "Old Wounds", from the SB OST.
Would absolutely buy the sheet music for this piece.
same
if you're still interested i just uploaded my own transcription on my channel.
2:04 i always get goosebumps on this part
This one is called "Old Wounds"
You are the MVP. 2 years later and was having a horrible time trying to find this name
I started my playthrough a little over a year ago. Just got to endwalker finally, and while everything’s been pretty great, this piece and many others from stormblood are what hold that dlc a little higher in my rankings than the others. The soundtrack is unbelievably good, and to think this is just a zone theme. Such an incredible piece!
why is this game so good T_T
it's so mystical
Ixion waiting squad, where are you?
Awesome scenery rides as usual! Just wanna point out that there are glitches between 8:52-8:57. Really appreciate you uploading this tho:D
That must be the water movement
@@PJMiaga Yeah maybe the water bubbles.. Seems like Mekkah edited that out tho:D
It honestly sounds like Soken just went into a hall and just started playing the piano. This doesn’t sound like it was a thought out composition. Sounds like he just played his heart out and made something fantastic. I can def feel the passion. What a phenomenal composer.
Composer and pianist is Yukiko Takada.
so relaxing, love it
The goosebumps!
Uno de los títulos con las mejores bandas sonoras.
Can't wait to play this on my Wedding.
Tine Hofmann it will be a great wedding
Well, it's been three years. So did you?
@@a40989d1 at least I am engaged now since 3 weeks xD
I hold this in the same light as the west ronfaure theme
Guess what, today the piano collections orchestrion released on MogStation
i wasnt very impressed with the Zone music in Stormblood, then i hit the Lochs both the day and night themes more then make up for atleast what i thought was lackluster zone themes, (well actually the steppes is pretty solid as well)
Huge fan of The Peaks here also. Amazing zone.
Ruby See man. Especially the night theme.
@@habibi_py hell yeah! Definitely amazing
I miss Stormblood... for me, it was my favorite and the best expansion of FF14 and had the best soundtrack... good ol' times...😢
Is there an orchestrion scroll in the game? D:
yes. Old Wounds.
I. Want. That. Mount.
On the dead locs gang gang gang
imagine playing this game on shrooms..
The day theme is one of my least favourite themese in the game but this one is so good
If this ramped up a bit more it would be a kingdom hearts boss theme
This is such a beautiful track unlike the lochs lol.
Dont do a sertain instance at night or you might get this theme, better do on daylight :p
