1...Because she's the most hated actress in Hollywood and 2...the Kim Carnes 1981 version is a very loved and popular version that most people love! I love Gwyn and I really like this version and her voice is really good. I also love her as an actress and woman. I watch her movies all the time. BUT...I do know she's just not very liked. If it was someone else with the exact same voice people would like it! It went to number 3 in Australia and her duet for the same movie went to number 1 in the charts so she was supported by Australia.

No actually the 1980s cover is what we have come to love not the original. one of the writers of this song recorded it in the seventies.
When Kim Carnes's cover came out in 1981, at first I thought it was Rod Stewart! Same tobacco-wasted voice.
