Everyone of those police officers need to be fired and whatever they've paid into a pension fund multiplied by ten should be handed over to this woman with no questions asked. Imho PART of the reason that many whites are “woke” now is because cops are being more abusive to every race (especially the poor) due to the lack of any real accountability EVER. I think bad cops in the past could get away with abusing a minority but, not as much an average middle class white. This is what I saw A 24 year old illegal with no Pryors solid 40$ rock coke to undercover. First offence for anyone 30 days 2 years probation. Kid got 31 months. Then reported. A 42 year old black man 4 DV got 14 months.pretty standard. A 32 year old who embezzled 90,000 from his work or his busyness. 6 months work release. Me I was 27 was pleading to vehicular homicide and vehicular assault. I was speeding had BAC 1.0 was 4 blocks from my girlfriend house when a car took a left from stop sign. I tboned the car I was riding a KZ 1000 motorcycle. Hardest thing I've ever had to do facing the parents of the 22 year old.driver. When the judge asked me if I had anything to say before I pass sentence. I sure do your honor. I turned my back to her. Got on my hands and keens. Told the parents if could exchange my life for his I do it. Im so sorry. Should up turned around said I'm ready to receive my punishment. The plea deal was giving me 31 months instead of 48. The most I could get if I took it to trial and lost. Judge gave me 48 months. I said thank you. Court doesn't deserve an apology. The victims did.
I would like to have heard more about her 16 year old nephew, poor boy. It must have been totally terrifying, leaving deep psychological scars. From what I know about teenage boys he will be blaming himself for failing to protect his aunt and his cousin. Boys that age often see themselves as "the man of the family" at times of crisis and make unrealistic demands of themselves.
I believe they said the nephew ended up with a broken hand. He may have been trying to protect his cousin or they may have dragged him from his side of the vehicle. Sounds like another family may be asking for some money as well. This was a total lack of control by the police force. I live in Europe and this was on the news here. The violent racist police in the USA are well known. I used to live in the US but left 35 years ago because I knew life is better and safer in Europe. My black granddaughters and two great grandchildren still live there and I fear for them.

You can apply for a job with companies with businesses in Europe, apply for job with the dept of defense for vacancies in military bases, if you have a teaching certificate you can apply to be a teacher in an international school or an English teacher in any school, nurses and carers are always needed. The big thing is getting here. Once you are here you can usually find a way to stay. You've got to be brave and not give up. I lived illegally for many years and finally got a residency/work permit. I worked for a few years then was given a retirement pension by Spain. I'm never going back. I'd be glad to help you if you are serious.

I was sexually harassed by an off duty police officer while waiting for my husband to finish visiting with his friends who were the owners behind the bar. It got stalkerish. When I went to the ladies room to get away from him, he got up and waited for me in a spot where he could have pushed me out the door. Luckily the entrance to the back of the bar came first. To escape his clutches I had to get behind the bar with the owners, two former football players, for the cop to leave me alone. He left right after I got behind the bar and it was clear I wasn't coming back out. My husband's friends, unaware of what had been transpiring, confirmed that he was a police officer. That's just one experience (in an area where long-time locals felt like they could do whatever they wanted with impunity). I no longer feel safe in the presence of police officers, and I have committed to never pulling over when alone and in a dark place. I will drive to a lit area where there are people. I will risk my life and liberty doing so. And I haven't been through anything like what people in the black community go through. The family needs restitution and help to cope with this trauma. I am sick to death of the lawlessness of so many police officers.

I don't think we should defund or abolish the police, but many of the people doing the policing need to go and the way it's being done MUST change. Instead of being another country where the police are part of the problem we need them to be part of the solution but that sure as hell isn't happening and I don't know what it' is going to take to make it happen. Maybe not have ex-soldiers suffering from PTSD and other broken people become cops would be a start.

It's unfortunate that there isn't a better term because there are plenty of people who also mean defund as in take away the money as a way to "starve the beast" and help abolish the way law enforcement is being done. If anything, good law enforcement probably needs an increase in funding that most people don't want to pay higher taxes to make happen. For example, instead of a sigle armed officer in a police cruiser there should also be a trained mental health provider in the car with them to help defuse situations, but that would be an additional forty or fifty thousand dollar base salary plus all the costs of benefits, etc. for each person that we'd have to find funding for and good luck with that. And there are any number of technological solutions that would help reduce the need for police intervention in a variety of situations but the technology all needs additional research money or is still cost-prohibitive at this point. So we're left with yet another complex problem being addressed by an imprecise catch-phrase that probably won't help solve anything.

A 42 year old black man 4 DV got 14 months.pretty standard. A 32 year old who embezzled 90,000 from his work or his busyness. 6 months work release. Me I was 27 was pleading to vehicular homicide and vehicular assault. I was speeding had BAC 1.0 was 4 blocks from my girlfriend house when a car took a left from stop sign. I tboned the car I was riding a KZ 1000 motorcycle. Hardest thing I've ever had to do facing the parents of the 22 year old.driver. When the judge asked me if I had anything to say before I pass sentence. I sure do your honor. I turned my back to her. Got on my hands and keens. Told the parents if could exchange my life for his I do it. Im so sorry. Should up turned around said I'm ready to receive my punishment. The plea deal was giving me 31 months instead of 48. The most I could get if I took it to trial and lost. Judge gave me 48 months. I said thank you. Court doesn't deserve an apology. The victims did.

I would like to have heard more about her 16 year old nephew, poor boy. It must have been totally terrifying, leaving deep psychological scars. I live in Europe and this was on the news here. The violent racist police in the USA are well known. I used to live in the US but left 35 years ago because I knew life is better and safer in Europe. My black granddaughters and two great grandchildren still live there and I fear for them.

You can apply for a job with companies with businesses in Europe, apply for job with the dept of defense for vacancies in military bases, if you have a teaching certificate you can apply to be a teacher in an international school or an English teacher in any school, nurses and carers are always needed. The big thing is getting here. Once you are here you can usually find a way to stay. You've got to be brave and not give up. I lived illegally for many years and finally got a residency/work permit. I worked for a few years then was given a retirement pension by Spain. I'm never going back. I'd be glad to help you if you are serious.

I was sexually harassed by an off duty police officer while waiting for my husband to finish visiting with his friends who were the owners behind the bar. It got stalkerish. When I went to the ladies room to get away from him, he got up and waited for me in a spot where he could have pushed me out the door. Luckily the entrance to the back of the bar came first. To escape his clutches I had to get behind the bar with the owners, two former football players, for the cop to leave me alone. He left right after I got behind the bar and it was clear I wasn't coming back out. My husband's friends, unaware of what had been transpiring, confirmed that he was a police officer. That's just one experience (in an area where long-time locals felt like they could do whatever they wanted with impunity). I no longer feel safe in the presence of police officers, and I have committed to never pulling over when alone and in a dark place. I will drive to a lit area where there are people. I will risk my life and liberty doing so. And I haven't been through anything like what people in the black community go through.
The family needs restitution and help to cope with this trauma. I am sick to death of the lawlessness of so many police officers.
This breaks my heart! As a mother I can only imagine how horrifying this was for her and those children! They are scarred for life!!

I don't think we should defund or abolish the police, but many of the people doing the policing need to go and the way it's being done MUST change. Instead of being another country where the police are part of the problem we need them to be part of the solution but that sure as hell isn't happening and I don't know what it' is going to take to make it happen. Maybe not have ex-soldiers suffering from PTSD and other broken people become cops would be a start.

It's unfortunate that there isn't a better term because there are plenty of people who also mean defund as in take away the money as a way to "starve the beast" and help abolish the way law enforcement is being done. If anything, good law enforcement probably needs an increase in funding that most people don't want to pay higher taxes to make happen. For example, instead of a sigle armed officer in a police cruiser there should also be a trained mental health provider in the car with them to help defuse situations, but that would be an additional forty or fifty thousand dollar base salary plus all the costs of benefits, etc. for each person that we'd have to find funding for and good luck with that. And there are any number of technological solutions that would help reduce the need for police intervention in a variety of situations but the technology all needs additional research money or is still cost-prohibitive at this point. So we're left with yet another complex problem being addressed by an imprecise catch-phrase that probably won't help solve anything.

BUT, when you live in a community where you have every color and the rainbow is included. You only see PEOPLE !!!! The biggest problem that we have is our sight. We're so BUSY looking and judging the skin. We overlooked ALL of the PEOPLE
