Great video. So many other videos talk about what it is and overlay it on several images, but this is one of few that explains examples of application. thank you!
I’ve fallen in love with I phone photography and I use the golden spiral almost everytime. I need to familiarize myself other composition styles and hope my photos will continue to improve.
Something that should be noted is that for the golden spiral to work, it should be applied to an image with the dimensions of the golden rectangle. In other words an image (rectangle) whose long side is 1.618 times longer as the short side. Think 10x16 for example. Applying a spiral inside an image with dimensions of a different ratio wouldn’t have the same natural appeal. The golden spiral depends on the golden rectangle as it’s canvas. Without it its just a spiral, and not ‘golden’.
I'm doing research for a "How to take nicer screenshots" for Guild Wars 2 (Game) and this is such a nice refresher. I learned all bout it back in school but wanted to rewatch some videos so I dont talk BS.. xD great video and love your photographs!!!
finally someone who explained the golden spiral without forcing the spiral into a compositiion and make himself believe the composition used the spiral
I would argue against that by saying that in the chapter "Can I apply it to every image : 3:46" I explain how not every photograph should use the golden spiral. I then proceed to give many examples of photos that do NOT use the golden spiral.
This is just a fad. Great photographic masters like Henri Cartier Bresson, Edward Weston, Ansel Adams, Robert Frank, Man Ray, Diane Arbus, Imogin Cunningham, Annie Leibovitz. They didn't the golden spiral, and all these other sophisticated compositional techniques. They all were masters in their own right. They had the most basic of cameras and chemicals for development and they were masters. What did they know that modern photographers today don't.

What you did not show your viewers is the many photos you took that did NOT use the golden ratio.

Unnecessary annoying manipulation music.
