Samantha Sang is an Aussie. He actually wrote another song for her years before this. Sounds like Barry because he did all the background vocals for her and produced it too.
The Bee Gees offered her this song to record. How lucky was that? It was a big hit in 1978. This song is on Their Greatest Hits album in 2001. Barry and Robin trade off on the lead. I prefer the Bee Gees version but Samantha Sang did it beautifully as well. The Bee Gees have so many songs in their vast catalog. Great reaction Harri.
If you haven't already, check out Barry Gibb's work with Barbara Streisand. He wrote/co-wrote the songs for her album Guilty, which he also co-produced. A couple hits were Guilty and Woman in Love.
Thank you for reacting to this song Harri. Samantha Sang is actually a friend of mine, that’s her stage name, I’ll have to show her this, she’ll be thrilled. She is such a beautiful person inside & out who is very talented & has a great sense of humour 💕
The BeeGees seem to always have beautiful music to dance to. But Samantha definitely had her influence on the song and smoothly blends with The BeeGees.
Argh how good. i haven't heard this for so long. evidently the Bee Gees and Samantha Sang (an Aussie) had worked together in the late 60s before Barry Gibb offered her this song. a good present that.
Beautifully done but love The Bee Gee version the best. I know what you mean about being tricked by the harmonies into thinking you are listening to the Bee Gees. Great reaction Harri. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
The Bee Gees recorded their own version of this song in 1994 but it was first released in 2001 on the compilation album "Their Greatest Hits: The Record"
I've never seen this video before. This is well before MTV and I don't think the video was well known at all. It's so weird to see her singing during the parts where Barry's voice dominates.
One the most beautiful ❤️ women ever singing a super gorgeous song with her angelic voice and the bee gees harmonic voices along with her voice what a masterpiece of music that will be here forever and ever.
I enjoy your channel so much. Love when you react to BeeGees. Don’t forget the oldest of the kids was a sister named Lesley, who sang in Robins place for about a year. She went out on tour with Barry and Maurice, when Robin decided to try it alone; in the late 1960s. More talent in one family than one can imagine. All 5 kids were so good. If you want to hear a perfect love song, listen to the BeeGees “The Only Love. As a matter of fact, we all should watch you react to it.
This fantastic reaction was a great accompaniment to an afternoon coffee break. The Gibbs considered themselves songwriters first, and established themselves as hit makers with songs like this and so many others. Please react to THIS IS WHERE I CAME IN official video. It’s the title of the final studio album before Maurice died, and is full of autobiographical tidbits. The video shows their humor and personalities, while the song is so good that my young adult son said he downloaded it to a playlist.
I clearly remember this when it came out. It's definitely not worn out. Thank you for bringing the good stuff back. Brings back some really awesome memories.
I remember watching this clip on Countdown here in Australia in the 70s as she is Australian. It was in the top 10 for a few weeks. Loved it then still do but prefer BeeGees version.
There's a song, called 'Bury Me Down By The River', out of the album 'Cucumber Castle'. So beautiful sung by Barry! Was also a hit for P.P. Arnold, another woman which was presented by a track of the bros. Gibb. In 1967, 'Morning Of My Life', was a hit for Esther Ofarim, a song, often played live on her concerts all over the years.
The best version of this song belongs to Samantha, but give it, the Bee Gees version is cool in a different way. Samantha's album "Emotion" has some other gems on it. "Change of Heart" (written by Eric Carmen), "When Love is Gone", "I Don't Wanna Go" (written in part by Carole Bayer Sager) and the follow up single "You Keep Me Dancing" which peaked at # 8 on the Dance Charts back in the day. Sadly, I never did understand why Sang did not have many other future music offerings after her big success with "Emotion." Would have been so cool to see/hear her perform with Barry Gibb/Bee Gees on stage. They harmonized well. I remember her once saying in an interview that she was often thought of as the female Bee Gee. She has the vocal pipes for sure. Great reaction, and rightly so. Peace.
Beautiful song, but not to listen when you're alone after a break up like I did with my first love back in '80. Listening brought back mixed emotions during my late teens.
I know the song but did not associate the Bee Gees with it. I am enjoying even though it is late at night The Gibbs make heartbreak sound as warm and comforting as a thick blanket and a cup of cocoa
I don’t think I’ve ever seen this video, I’ve only ever seen it with just the Bee Gees. I know her name but I’m not familiar with any of her music, that I know of.
This original version is the one I heard first, so Destiny's Child's cover never really did much for me, too much ninetiies-ish melisma. And I always have to say when I see this video, that seventies lip gloss! It looks like she got in an argument with an oil slick.
i have the vinyl single of this , bee gees are all over this but they did not release it themselves till much later, this to me is the best version.... not fond of the vocals on destiny's child version
That much lip-gloss should be illegal, lololol!! She has a certain un- i mean appeal. Great song of course. Didn't quite make it to her eyes, kept bumping into her nose. I'm going to hell. No sweat...or lots, but ok.
Love the song, but the video is cringe-worthy. I can't say I agree that she's a "looker" as she has an oddly manly facial structure (sorry, I know that seems mean). Also, the cheesy effects (new for that generation then) and the fact that her voice is the whispering part and Barry's is the lead and yet he is not shown when his voice is the prominent one. She should be just fading in to be shown during her breathy parts. This was definitely not ready for MTV -- not even bad MTV videos were that bad. 1970's era videos were strange either promotional clips or live performances on Midnight Special, etc.
Samantha's lip gloss game is STRONG!
Please do more Bee Gees reaction.
I like. The beegees. Version. The. Best.
The Bee Gees did record this song. I prefer their version. Although she does have a lovely voice.
This is the best version of alll versions
This is the original version written by Barry & Robin Gibb.
With Barry on harmony & backing vocals.👍
Barry is the only Gibb doing the background vocals. He layered his vocals and sang all harmony parts by himself.
Wow
Samantha went to #1 in in the USA.
Andy sang the second part, the smile on Barry's face said it all❤❤
It's just Samantha & Barry on vocals!
Bee Gees wrote the song as well. She is an Australian artist.
She sounds like she belongs in the Bee Gee’s group. I was 17 and in 11th grade when this song was released in 1978.
many years later the BEE GEES recorded their own version, check it out
Love it!!
This is a typical Gibb-Galuten-Richardson production. My favorite arrangement especially how funky the rhodes are played on the "goodnight" parts.
Am I the only one who thinks she looks a lot like the actress who played the mom in That 70's Show, Debra Jo Rupp?
It IS a beautiful song. They did it again! A winner!❤
Samantha Sang is an Aussie. He actually wrote another song for her years before this. Sounds like Barry because he did all the background vocals for her and produced it too.
This was a big, big hit in the US. At first I thought it was the BeeGees.
Beautiful song from back in the day, so much amazing with Barry in the background. Great reaction
The Bee Gees offered her this song to record. How lucky was that? It was a big hit in 1978.
This song is on Their Greatest Hits album in 2001. Barry and Robin trade off on the lead. I prefer the Bee Gees version

Great reaction Harri.
Totally agree, love the Bee Gees version so much more!
@phillydisco Backgrounds are only one BeeGee. Barry does them all.
It was a 1978 hit for Aussie girl Samantha Sang. Barry and Robin wrote the song and Barry produced and provided all the backing vocals.
Samantha is an Australian singer. It makes sense with the Bee Gees ties to Australia they gave the song to her.
If you haven't already, check out Barry Gibb's work with Barbara Streisand. He wrote/co-wrote the songs for her album Guilty, which he also co-produced. A couple hits were Guilty and Woman in Love.

Tell your friend that we appreciate her still to this day.
I loved this version and I think it made it to #1 on the US charts back then
The BeeGees seem to always have beautiful music to dance to.
But Samantha definitely had her influence on the song and smoothly blends with The BeeGees.
Samantha blends smoothly with just Barry!🎵
Bee Gees they were great and this song is wonderful ,The voices!!
THks for this reaction Harry
Argh how good. i haven't heard this for so long. evidently the Bee Gees and Samantha Sang (an Aussie) had worked together in the late 60s before Barry Gibb offered her this song. a good present that.
Great song for lovers
Beautifully done but love The Bee Gee version the best. I know what you mean about being tricked by the harmonies into thinking you are listening to the Bee Gees. Great reaction Harri. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
The Love Of A Woman is alsof a beautiful song the Bee Gees wrote for Samantha.
The Bee Gees recorded their own version of this song in 1994 but it was first released in 2001 on the compilation album "Their Greatest Hits: The Record"

The Only Love is beautiful!! Also love You & I (Barry's Kenny Roger's demo) & Love is Blind!🎶
Awww…the memories!!!!
I also like The Bee Gees version. Robin’s voice is highlighted. I loved his voice.

Falsetto plus Leipsic . . always a surprise!!! Everyone always said that the brothers sounded like women so . . . .
I clearly remember this when it came out. It's definitely not worn out. Thank you for bringing the good stuff back. Brings back some really awesome memories.
Check out “Chain Reaction” - Diana Ross featuring Barry Gibb from the album “Eaten Alive”
I love The Bee Gees so much...I’m so sorry they’re not still alive. Never seen this version before.
Great choice Brandon. 😉 This great song played in every disco in North Central Ohio. Great times. 😉🇺🇦🇺🇸🇨🇦🇬🇧🤴🔥🙃👍🕊️🤫
He was so excited to listen to it he didn't mention that i requested it.
@@brandonious7732 fantastic pick Brandon. You never let me down with
your great choices. 👍🔥🙃
@@brandonious7732 Way to go, Brandon!!!!

Hi "X." I got a new Japanese pressing of "Cucumber Castle," and listened to "Bury Me Down By the River" today. PP Arnold's recording was wonderful.
Wow a long time since I heard this. Great pick!
Check out Sheena Easton 9 to 5 🚂🚃 train from 1980 it's so beautiful just like she's so gorgeous too.
I also love the version with Robin singing the lead
The Bee Gees cover is just as good as the original if not better… their cover had more of a soulful groove to it.
Can it really be a "cover" since they wrote it?
@@Straydogger You are correct straydogger .👍🏻

I prefer this version with her killer sexy voice. That softness could have been from her Chinese heritage.
The Bee Gees said they really like Destiny’s Childs’ version
Impossível ouvir essa música e não dançar 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇧🇷
Nice...

Please react to Starland Vocal Band - Afternoon Delight (1976) Uncut Video
Like BeeGees version best
please listen to EXPERIENCE by Diana Ross...written by Barry, Robin, Maurice and Andy Gibb
Destiny’s Child did a version of this song.
She sounds bee gee like, and also like Dianne Warwick.
Whoever the heck samantha sing is. ???
