I checked out the lyrics after the recording and it’s a lot deeper than I originally was able to see, great song! Cheers friends! 🔥😁
Starman . Time. Moonage daydream
Nico Peralta
Thanks friend! 😁

Check out Stormcock .H.Q. ,Bullinamingvase by Roy Harper, he did the vocals on Pink Floyd.s Have A cIgar. Really great albums.
@Ray Mullett
Sounds awesome thanks for the suggestions friend! 😁🔥
Omg Bowie, is a king. Modern Love is a wicked track.
The most talented all-around entertainer of this time.
John Lennon himself was a big part of the recording.
Yeah, he co-wrote the song, played rhythm guitar and sings on it.
That’s awesome! Gonna give it another listen with that in mind!
Carlos Alomar came up with the basic guitar riff, and Bowie worked it into a song.
Not a big part.
No he wasn't. Carlos Alomar came up with the riff, borrowed from FootStompin', Bowie put some Fame words on it, Lennon visited the studio and in Bowie's words 'made sounds like 'fame' and I kept it in' Bowie gave him a songwriting credit for it...
Bowie is a person not a band. A musical genius (British) who surrounded himself with top notch musicians and background singers to achieve his own distinct sound. Way way way ahead of his time. This particular song was the rare song that topped both pop and R&B charts at the same time back in the 70s. He even performed it on Soul Train! OMG, so many Bowie classics. You might want to do 'Space Oddity' (ground control to major Tom), 'Let's Dance' and 'Changes' to get you started. But there's sooo much more. He was truly one of a kind. Folks my age have still not fully come to terms with his passing.
flubblert
Damn that all sounds really awesome, I can tell there’s a lot of brilliant culture around him, I’ll have to dig in more! Thanks friend, cheers! 🔥😁
@@andyandalex Fun fact: the falsetto "Fame" through the song is sung by John Lennon. Lennon also sings on Bowie's cover of "Across the Universe" also found on this album. Cheers! :-)
@@dmnddog7417 Lennon also plays guitar on this track. Bowie is amazing, and there is so much for you to hear Andy! Cant wait to hear your take on some of his classic stuff. Loving your take on Queen too. Theyre my favourite band.
@@dmnddog7417 He also co wrote it, and as David was trying to come up with a name for it, Lennon told him to keep it simple and call it Fame, after which they had a conversation on simplifying the writing process.....
& he wore skirts ...
Bowie has been in my life from my teens in the early 70th until now on my 60th birthday! His greatness lies in the ability to be one step ahead and he experimented with sounds "in a most peculiar way", his was constantly changing personas and you never knew what you were to expect next. You can't choose one favorite song, there's so many! I've been to two concerts in the 80th and they were really good. He also made a couple of movies which I think ¨Labyrintht^was the best, lots of good songs
I agree with everyone Space Oddity, Hero’s, Suffragette City, Changes.
True Genius Lets Dance , China girl are another couple of goodies
Now you going into Bowie! "Golden Years" , "Ashes to Ashes" "Man Who Sold the World" "Space Oddity" and "TFC 15"
Bruce Metcalfe
Thanks for the suggestions friend! 🔥😁
TVC 15
Another great Bowie song is Ziggy Stardust
You like the drums? Dennis Davis. Listen to 'Look Back In Anger' from Lodger
The man was a trained mime. Had a tour de force on Broadway with "The Elephant Man" in which he played John Merrick without makeup! Just how he held his body and moved. Actor, singer, songwriter, icon.
18 years old, my mom let me take a Train to the City. To the BOOTH THEATRE. Bowie interpreted the character in his unique way
While Bowie was high on drugs, his manager was borrowing against his future earnings instead of budgeting for expenses and being a proper manager. As a result Bowie would finish a tour and find out that he was in debt despite high ticket-sales and album-sales. Bowie had a conversation with John Lennon and the two shared experiences about fame and management and money and then went into the studio where Bowie vented his anger into the song Fame. Bowie later took control of his money and investments and when he died, he was probably one of the wealthiest rockers ever.
It's amazing how many musicians have gone through this with their managers back in those days.
Ted Nugent & Billy Joel were a few others.
I don't think they could get away with it now though. The older generation have wised up in this matter...
@@Deborahtunes Oh, they have a whole bunch of new ways to screw musicians. Do a search for '360 contracts' The old guys might not be fooled, but they still get some people in their claws. :)
@@VeryUsMumblings ~ When I said they couldn't get away with it, I was meaning they wouldn't get over on the 60's and 70's generation of musicians. The music entertainers out there now probably couldn't balance a checkbook, much less outwit a bunch of shysters...
I believe he sold his entire catalogue for hundreds of millions of $$ cash near the end. Good Job David Bowie.
@@Deborahtunes Elvis Presley is an iconic example.
Space Oddity is a Must listen!
You may have also heard Changes, Let's Dance, and his collab with Queen, Under Pressure.
Others you may not have heard that I'd suggest; Starman, Ziggy Stardust (1972 live version is better), Fashion, Suffragette City, Life On Mars?, Blackstar and Lazerus.
David Bowie was a solo artist who used session & guest musicians for his songs except in the early 1970's where he played with The Spiders From Mars. He did play electric and accoustic guitars for many of his songs.
Bowie was a major music chameleon. He started as a minor folk musician in the sixties with no success, but jumped to major success with arguably his greatest song, Space Oddity. After that, he switched to a more Pop Rock and Fashion infused style which became the foundation for Glam Rock, of which he would be a dominating artist in. He was known for his many Stage personas and characters. He was actually a mime in the 60's as well and that developed his desire for his alter egos and characters. His first big character was Major Tom, an astronaut who got stuck in space. In 1972, he debut one of his most memorable ones, Ziggy Stardust. After 1974, he retired Ziggy and took on the Thin White Duke. His sound adapted to every era of Popular music in his time, going from Folk to Glam to Soul to Disco to Dance to Synth to Electronic to Industrial to Jazz and everywhere in between. He was that much a chameleon.
He died in 2016 from Cancer, two days after releasing his last studio album Blackstar on his 69th birthday. The title track is a 10 minute haunting track with his outview of what has become of the world, as if the end was near. The third track, Lazerus, was released with his last music video. This is another haunting song, but a different kind of haunting. It showed the end of Bowie's life as he sings about soon being free.
Bowie was an amazing musician who did it all, and an amazing lyricist as well. He is definitely a good musician to get into.
Let's dance. Changes....and China Girl...good ones

Diamond Dogs
Great reaction! This song was co-written with John Lennon who is also in on the backing vocals This was one of the songs that Bowie actually performed on the TV show Soul Train. Bowie has an incredibly deep catalogue. I have always loved his album "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars". Check out Suffragette City and Ziggy Stardust. By all means PLEASE check out I Can't Give It All Away and the title track from his very last album Blackstar!
SupaSoul Productions
Thank you very much for the suggestion and background information friend, cheers! 🔥😁
you forgot to mention mick ronson , all credit for the driving force behind the early albums
Try David's first hit Space Oddity
@Stephanie Turnage
Thanks for the suggestion friend a lot of people have told me to do that one, including friends at work, haha! Cheers! 🔥😁
Quintessential Bowie!! A landmark of the rock era.
He already did "SPACE ODDITY" With a friend!
Bowie is worth album reactions. Specially the 70´s albums from 'Hunky Dory' to 'Scary Monsters and Super Creeps! With only songs you'll miss a lot! And you can follow how music changed in those years: Bowie has been called the most influential artist of the 20th century!
Go earlier. This song and album, "Young Americans" is where he started hanging out with a young Luther Vandross and added some funk to his repertoire. This is his first real big shift in his musicality. (If you ignore his first "real" album that is very hard to find)
I may be in the minority here but I think from this point on in his career you can go song by song as his full albums are much less interesting as a whole. Don't come at me, bros! This is my opinion. I love some later Bowie. I just don't listen to full albums from here on out.
Working on a golf course I would fill my pockets with Bowie cassettes (Or Queen, Floyd, Zep, Beatles... depending on the day and mood) and strap my Walkman headphones to my head and zone out while mowing. "Space Oddity" "The Man Who Sold the World" "Hunky Dory" "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars" "Aladdin Sane" "Diamond Dogs" (You can skip "Pin Ups" as it is all remakes but is interesting to see how Bowie interprets earlier songs) These whole albums are pure gold, Jerry, gold without the obligatory weak song that many great albums seem to possess. I'm looking at you Sgt. Pepper!!!! I was never a big fan of George's Indian music phase. Sorry..... just saying.
Anyway.... more Bowie.
I'm not complaining! Anything you listen to by him will cause you to dig deeper into his catalogue and in the end that is a good thing. Bowie has so much to offer to so many different people.
Rave on Dave!
Peace
My favorite I've heard by him is "Rebel Rebel."
Rebel rebel sucks, in my opinion. It was a song he said he never wanted to perform again
Rebel Rebel is Pure Punk. Best in Class Punk from Bowie right behind Suffragette City.
@@DanBlabbers I don't know - he used it a lot to open his shows, including the one occasion I got to see him live.
And also David Bowie and Queen did a collaboration - go react to that- the song is called under pressure
I love his duet of Under Pressure with Annie Lennox (who he introduces as “the incomparable Annie Lennox”): brilliant.
Bowie was amazing and a musical genius. He was worth over a billion when he passed.
That was John Lennon singing the "fame, what's your name, what's your name…", plus the high-to-mid pitched, repeating "Fame" towards the end, that Bowie finishes off with the alto voice.
Explore more Bowie, especially the albums Station To Station, Low, and "Heroes". And of course Space Oddity. Your reactions make me rediscover why I like certain bands. Thanks for that!
@Br. Martin Dally, OSB
Thanks for the suggestion friend! And I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos! The goal is for you guys to resonate with my experience so that’s awesome! Cheers! 😁
Station to Station is incredible album!
My favourite Bowie album is Low and I think you'd really go for it, particularly the song Sound and Vision.
donaldb1
Sounds good, thanks man! 😁
Omg that is a classic 💯
You should due the Ziggy Stardust album
You've done "Fame", you've got to do "Young Americans." Dude.
Panic in Detroit John...
It's kinda the Obvious choice, because the album that he's listening to is actually called "Young Americans." Hopefully he's curious enough to listen to the song the Album's named after.
Bowie! Fantastic! Start with his earlier music, Bowie was a very 'evolving' artist musically and in style, he did it beautifully. You have decades of work to choose from. Could start with Starman (there is earlier stuff), maybe Ziggy Stardust, Rock n Roll Suicide, I have no doubt you will get a lot of suggestions. Look up Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. Fame is from later, also excellent. It's going to be hard to grasp Bowie without visuals, what he looks like, this was a huge part of his work. Good luck

Thank you very much for the informative comment friend, I definitely plan on doing more Bowie in the future, thanks for the suggestions! 😁🔥
Oh and Scary Monsters
@@raymullett6571Absolutely and Drive in Saturday too, hard to know where to stop 😁
@@obsidianred9833 I know man, but one step at atime.
This is the song that made me a life long Bowie fan starting back in 1975- I would sit by the AM radio waiting for this song and later Golden Years to come on - Saw him for the first time live in 1976 and never missed one of his concerts after that - I so miss wondering what he would do next - RIP
Check out "Moonage Daydream"
YAAAAAS! FINALLY A DAVID BOWIE REACTION!
foxy minecraft
Haha yes! 😁
Niles Roger came up with the riff but Bowie couldn’t figure what to sing. Lennon walks in the studio and is told the problem, hears the riff and immediately says “fame”.
He also sings the high pitched backing vocals.
That’s John Lennon in the background singing the second, higher ‘fame’. 2 legends for the price of one!
You really have to hear "Heroes" Andy
Trevor Ayton
I’ll make sure I hit that one, thanks friend! 🔥😁
The album version, of course. The shorter single version can go to HELL.
Check out the whole of the Ziggy Stardust album !
Young people get caught up on lyrics and sometimes miss the beautiful music of older songs, talented songwriters and musicians
Most people don't know that is John Lennon singing the "fame" refrain with Bowie. Lennon helped Bowie come up with the fame concept while playing around in the studio on another song
Check out Under Pressure with Freddy Mercury!
Diamond Dogs and the whole Aladdin Sane album

Thanks for the suggestion friend! 🔥😁
Listening to Bowie now, you might not realize what an innovator he was. For most of his career, he seemed to be ahead of the curve. He was constantly blowing minds with new sounds.
I loved how you instantly felt this track :) To answer your questions; the song is about his disgruntlement with being famous, its invasiveness and his ex-manager, Tony Defries, who he fell out with the year before. The jingling guitar sound is meant to replicate the constant phone calls. If you watch, what I believe is the first ‘performance ‘of this of this track, David Bowie - Fame - Live on the Cher Show - 1975, he acts disgruntled to convey the message.... Yeh, Bowie is a dude, not a band, who often wrote, co-produced and played on his tracks as well as designing the album art ideas. This song is, however, co-written by John Lennon, who also sings backing vocals and Carlos Alomar, rhythm guitarist. The drums are by the late and ‘greatest drummer in the planet earth’- Dennis Davis. Bowie was a unique artist who pushed boundaries and changed his musical styles and image with great regularity and effect, becoming a fashion icon. As well as his multiple solo albums, he has also collaborated with the likes of: Queen, Bing Crosby, Nine Inch Nails (live), Mick Jagger, Iggy Pop, P.Diddy, Placebo, Lou Reed, Goldie, and Giorgio Moroder.
I was in the 5th grade the first time I heard "Fame" on the radio back in the 70's. The poet has been in my mind since then. I would like to suggest David Bowie "As the World Falls Down"
Sooooo many you should hear. Just start at the beginning and keep going.
Each album is unique, it is like listening to a new artist each time.
Agreed. "Man of Words, Man of Music" otherwise known as "Space Oddity" is a great starting point. Acoustic Bowie. Great first album.
and second....
and third...
...fourth...
etc......
Cygnet committee by bowie you wont hear another song like it

Best track on Young Americans.
Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence
Immortal Eternals Super Hub :
DAVID BOWIE
LOU REED
IGGY POP
KATE BUSH
BJORK
GRACE JONES
Now, have I left anyone out ?
Every Bowie album was different sounds. Pushed the limits of modern music. Paved the road of experimentation with music
You must understand that Bowie is singlehandedly responsible for stage theatrical production, multiple stage personas, radical stylistic music changes, as well as being a pioneer for the LGBT community way back in 1970 with his stunning androgyny... just look at CD cover to Hunky Dory, as well as the Ziggy Stardust photos of 1972-74... It was dangerous, excessively musical, genius
I recommend reacting to the band "Boston." Their entire first album is fantastic, but in particular, the song "Foreplay/Long Time" is one of the most exhilarating tracks ever recording. I guarantee it will blow you away!
Bewlay Brothers off of Hunky Dory!...
Or maybe if you really want, all of Hunky Dory lol It's a really good introduction to David Bowie, and his capabilities. It also has his signature song Life On Mars ;)
Ooo Bowie! Get on the Ziggy Stardust! That's my favourite bit of Bowie as he was doing the proper rock band thing then, with his band who were all from where I live! His guitarist then, Mick Ronson, was a real guitar ledgend. Moonage Daydream is my first suggestion, the live show had a bit of a rude guitar solo that caused some controversy, one of Bowie's specialities! Enjoy! 😄
David Bowie & Queen/Under Pressure
John Andrews
Sounds awesome! Thanks friend! 😁
Try Man who sold the world. The grunge band Nirvana did a cover in the 90s on their Unplugged performance. Check both out man.
I can see you enjoyed this. I’m sooo glad. ♥️ David has no bad songs 🥰🔥🔥🔥🔥
John Lennon on backing vocals - he was one of the co-writers of this
Right at this point is where David started putting out music that appealed to a lot more people and could be listened to year after year. Good song
Check out the album 'Aladdin Sane' from 1973.
David Bowie and John Lennon playing together. How can you NOT have a great song?
You should react to some Gary Numan.
Check out, I’m afraid of Americans by David
David Could literally play like plus 50 instruments so it would be completely possible for him to have made all his tracks by himself. He did mostly have temporary bands or hired musicians to play with him so you know... Yeah
Heroes - studio version

Thanks friend! 😁
with John Lennon on backing vocals,THATS the company David Bowie moved in.True Genius...........RIP Starman.
David's long time rhythm guitarist Carlos Alomar gets a chance to shine here. I suggest "TVC15" and "I'm Afraid of Americans" with Trent Reznor. Bowie introduced me to some of my favorite guitarists, Carlos, Mick Ronson, Adrian Belew and Stevie Ray Vaughn. The catalog is DEEP, the man is truly a chameleon.
James Wilson
Sounds awesome! Thanks for the background friend, cheers!
And remember, 1970’s "The Man Who Sold The World" is the very best place to start a Bowie adventure. That Lp and the LP released 2 months before it, Black Sabbath’s Paranoid, are similar musically and are both milestones in “Heavy Rock" evolution. I have been a Bowie fan since Space Oddity in 1969. I bought every LP upon release, so I have followed his evolution since before Hunky Dory and the breakthrough Ziggy Stardust. Hunky Dory is the odd LP stuck between the heavy rock Sabbath-like MWSTW and sleek modern (for the time) Ziggy. Later period Bowie can be presented nicely for reaction via the great music videos.
Omg never heard David Bowie?? You’ve been missing out. Love your reaction.
Mary Margaret Moore
Yeah I need to check out more for sure! Glad you enjoyed the video, cheers friend! 🔥😁
I remember in the 80’s when ”Let’s Dance” came out there were lots of penpal ads in a local music magazine that started like ”Looking for David Bowie (but not just Let’s Dance) fans...” 😀
David Bowie & Nile Rodgers Make A Killer Duo!!
Did ya hear John Lennon’s backing vocals?
John lennon sings the second 'Fame' after Bowies sings it.
When punk met funk and glamour rock. Genius.
Oh yes and please react to David Bowie’s space Odicy
*odity oops
this got blocked btw did u notice?
Really? I can see and hear it
@MANHATTENMAN !
I had to upload it again because I accidentally teased it yesterday when I meant to only post the Black Sabbath video, and when I changed it back to public today, it didn’t send out notifications and was showing as if it was posted yesterday which means the RUclips algorithm wouldn’t have really promoted it at all and I wanted to make sure my first Bowie video actually reached people, lol! Sorry for the confusion!
*Andy* as I've eluded to in other posts, your hitting all the right artists for that time period, plenty, plenty to go! As far as Bowie is concerned a *must* is listening to "Ziggy Stardust & the spiders from Mars"! Like DTSOTM or the Beach Boys "Pet Sounds", Sgt. Pepper, Tapestry, Houses of the holy, Tommy, and so many, many others you have to listen to the entire albumn end to end! Again being a musician & an old... older I could spot you the top 100 (for the 1970's). You'd be in disbelief if you hadn't heard it yourself! *Lastly* please (I'll ask no more), check out Led Zeppelin!! For your personal enjoyment to understand just how great they were and would become, start with *live* version 1969 Denmark, says Danmark of "How many more times"!! You'll b blown away!
Another great discography to react to. Please react to the full albums, you will love them. They are pure art.
If you want to start, start with "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars". It's the most well known.
Thanks for the tip friend! 🔥😁
As you can see...Im really excited for your reaction😂
@shlupidurp
Nothing wrong with that! 😁
oh you gotta hear suffergett city best bowie song love your reactions
I would love for you to react to Israel " Iz " Kamakawiwo'ole. He is a singer from Hawai'i. He does a cover of Somewhere Over The Rainbow that will melt your mind. Obscure , but well worth your time & effort. And some Stones & Beatles.
Yes on IZ... & the "Jimmy Hendrix of the Ukulele" Jake Shimabukuro.
Some classics from Bowie: Space Oddity, Changes, Let's Dance, China Girl and Young Americans. He did an awesome duet with Mick Jagger called "Dancing in the Street".
React to David Bowie -Starman please :D
@Basty_Naranja
Thanks for the suggestion friend! 🔥😁
Watch Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence.....
You should check out life on mars, and heroes.
Took ten years to get a surprising No.1 hit in 1975; arguably not his greatest original composition by Bowie standards ( there are many)... Check out Space Oddity, Life On Mars, 1984, Rock 'N Roll Suicide, & so many up to the title track of his very last, & most spectacular collection, Blackstar... your life will never be the same...
Fame was a happy accident, taken from a James Brown riff played by Carlos Alomar, co-piloted with Ex-Beatle John Lennon at Electric Lady Studios in NYC
@RJ Nuzzi
Gotcha! Thanks for the thoughtful comment and suggestions friend! 😁🔥
So you have Black Celebration on the wall? Can we expect some Depeche Mode reactions coming up? My Bowie suggestion would be Bewlay Brothers from Hunky Dory btw
Yes that sounds like a possibility! :)
One of my Bowie favorites is "Cat People," which has a pretty heavier feel, for Bowie, and features Stevie Ray Vaughan on guitars.
Recommend: Same album.
Song: "Right"
*David introduced Luther Vandross and Ava Cherry into musical Fame.
*The vocal arrangements are crazy awesome! Luther said it was the hardest song he'd ever sang.
*Definitely one of my favorite Bowie deep-cuts. ⚡️👨🎤
PLease do Young Americans!!!
Yes thats John Lennon on backing vocals.
EVERYBODY loves Bowie,a British Rock God,and from my manor in south London,Brixton.
Check out “Oh you pretty things”
Another great one from Bowie!!!!
Ed the Bad
Yes!! 🔥😁
Andy react to starman too its good
or Space Oddity
Queen 59
I’ll look into those thanks! 😁
You’re right about that drummer. Dennis Davis is one of the most underrated drummers of all time. This was the first Bowie song ever played on, and he was a member of his band for the rest of the 70’s. Bowie did so many different styles of music during that time, and Dennis always effortly adapted to each one and totally killed it. If you REALLY want to hear him shine, listen to “Look Back in Anger”- he’s a beast on that one.
Life On Mars, Changes, Suffragette City, Golden Years are some other good Bowie songs.
Reid Sanderson
Thanks for the suggestions friend! 🔥😁
Life on Mars, really nice and unexpected chord changes.
For Bowie I’d recommend The songs ‘Ziggy Stardust’, ‘Starman’, ‘Space Oddity’, ‘Heroes’ (make sure it’s the 6 minute version, not shorter), and ‘The Jean Genie’.
As for other bands, you should react to The Who songs ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’ and ‘Baba O’ Riley’ Rolling Stones ‘Gimme Shelter’, Santana ‘Soul Sacrifice’ live at Woodstock (make sure it’s the full 9 + minute version) Free ‘All Right Now’ (make sure it’s approx. 5:42 or solo will be cut short), AC/DC ‘Back In Black’.....
I could go on forever with recommendations!
gunthermon
Thank you very much for the suggestions friend, cheers! 🔥😁
Any time! Enjoying your channel.
Anything by Free would be great :)
this is particularly cool for me, b/c we had a "pom-pom" routine to this when I was in HS -- and it was super-cool, but I was NOT... so it was awkward for me :)
He was more the singer, used various musicians over the years, wrote "Under Pressure" with Freddie & Queen. Ziggy Stardust was his iconic album, its was ahead of its time.
Hey Andy - great song, great reaction, Bowie was definitely interesting, went through many styles of music through his career. I had always thought the bizarre "Fame, fame, fame, fame...." descending scale towards the end of song was some type of early digital sampler - (we're talking 1975 here - later found out that sampling was not invented / utilized until a few years after this song came out, and came to fruition in the early 80's), but was created by using different tape speeds, quite ingenious for the time. The very beginning of the song also utilized "backwards playback" of recorded music (in this case piano chords), a technique utilized prior to this time by the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix (especially in "Are You Experienced") and a few other groups.
Two suggestions for future reaction: "Under Pressure" recorded with Queen, and "It's No Game - Part 1", which has some crazy guitar licks / effects, played by Robert Fripp (of King Crimson band). Thanks!! Wayne
Suffragette City, anyone agree ?
Listen to life on Mars you will love it
