As I mentioned about pulling over fretcorner or off fretboard on my mod Kirk Hammett pulls the high E off fretboard on the final bend of 2nd solo. It’s pretty interesting to see what you can achieve beyond standard playing styles
Fun fact: They did actually record it slower and then speed up the recording. They do play it live at full speed, though, or sometimes faster depending on how Lars is feeling.
That's actually what I just thought when I watched this vid. I've been learning guitar solos for ages already but it never changes. And then you see someone else put a solo together and it looks exactly like when I'm doing it.
So she starts playing and I’m like “yeah she can clearly play alright let’s see how this goes” then she starts putting bits and pieces together and I’m like “you had my curiosity, now you have my attention”. And then she cranks the speed up and just puts it all together…. Oh Lordy. Impressive.
I’m not gonna lie, I hit a wall and didn’t wanna practice. Even though I knew how to practice, I never stuck out the process. But sitting and watching you learn a song, not be good at it right away and still sound as good as you are in other videos just awoke the fire in me that 18 year old me used to have when I finally learnt how to do solo’s and stuff. Can’t wait until I’ve finally pushed passed the boundaries that I wanted to surpass years ago
So like this! When I try to play my electric guitar unplugged learning a new song and sounds awful and feel like giving up I hear a true exellant guitarist like you feel the same. An inspiration
Back when I was 19 I learned how to play Master of Puppets , a friend showed me how to play it & I took to it & learned it fast , if I,m not mistaken that was the first song that someone showed me how to play without using the sheet music , it only took me 2 days to learn & I can play it still to this day being in my 50s , like I never stopped playing .
@@carlosmunoz1484 oh thanks, I cant read so that helped...seemed there may have been an implication beneath the surface of the statement; suggesting if a girl can learn it; so can he
Wow, that's seriously epic actually watching someone figuring out something that feels like it's from another planet. Makes it feel attainable, almost like I could do it myself (until I actually pick up my guitar that is)
Loved this Sophie! It was great to see that we all struggle along to learn a new song. I wish it only took me an hour! It takes me weeks sometimes! The Spark certainly is an amazing amp too!
I also get that anxiety/adrenaline when I'm learning new stuff. I'm always like "settle the fk down man" but I never do until I have it down perfectly.
Appreciate this very much an honest approach we are all human , great inspiration. I’ve been avoiding this main solo for along time , time to buckle down like you and get it done !
I love how your like, We could totally slow this down about 12%, but in all reality, when playing live they are probably playing it 10%-15% faster than studio. Quite funny really, but either way, you killed this for one hour.
Love these ‘learning process’ videos. Here’s a challenge that’s been bending my ears over the last couple of weeks on and off… the guitar solo in Animotion’s cover of Obsession. Mostly pretty simple in D but a couple of speedy runs buried in a dense mix that are giving me grief. See if you can get them…
You are so talented and hilarious! I love your dry sense of humor. Going into "My Heart Will Go On" with the effed up flute for a split second was great!! Love your vids!! Crumble..start crying. LOL
Holy S*** you figured out and played perfectly an iconic solo from one of the metal masters within one hour. Can't say I'm surprised, you are a stellar talent.
Wow, really impressive for an hours work!! I learned Master of Puppets way back when I had only been playing two years or so (albeit about 8 hours a day for that two years… .). It took me two weeks to learn it spot on for the rhythm sections and the lead somewhat sloppily. After anothe 10:50 r 35 years, you’ve given me inspiration to go back and learn the lead properly! You’re awesome Sophie, keep it up!!
I didn’t think that I would watch another RUclipsr named Sofia after finding Sophie Lloyd, I was wrong. You are inspiring to watch, especially for someone who has never reproduced said solo better than you have in an hour. I have been playing since 1994😬
Your fingers look beautiful. It's a symbol of hard work well done. You don't need to worry about the tips of your fingers cause the rest of you is absolutely breathtaking. FERDA
Absolutely amazing Sophie Respect respect respect How you can learn and bring this up to speed so quickly is simply awesome, 👍🎸💯😎 Great humour , and great tone from the Spark mini 💯 Next in the series , a Tremonti solo from Marching in time🎸😎
I'm form Brazil and I just saw you for the first time playing Sultans of swing and blowed up my mind.. you are very talented and one of the most beautiful girls I've ever seen 😵💫 keep on rockin 😉🤘🏻
By the way I saw Master of Puppets tour at the UIC pavilion in Chicago in April of 1986 before Cliff perished on the bus.Great show they opened for Ozzy Ultimate Sin tour.
I have to clear up just a little of my last text about going on RUclips and learning a song in 15 minutes but when you absolutely have to get it down oh yeah and absolutely takes a couple hours again very good Sophie and your gorgeous hair
Nice PRS! I'd love one as well as a million other guitars....dream guitar is the original Gibson explorer....the wood finish. Cheers from America....rock on!
I am quite impressed. I stick to mostly original works for the pure reason that being a musician for over 50 years I am more in tune to my own ways and my own path musically. I greatly admire however those who can do honest justified renditions of famous works. I salute you.
When I first heard her I’m ashamed to say I dismissed her as a gimmick but I’ve been playing guitar over fifty years she is not a gimmick but the genuine artist she apparently is! I think when she gets with the right people she’s going to be a great influence on young women all over the world I love what she does fantastic job!
I think when your trying to learn a song such as this & you feel your life is burning faster & it is like something is pulling your strings you just need to slow it down hahah great vid thanks.
I remember an interview with Kirk, and he said the high squealy part happened by mistake. I think he said something like pulling the string off the fretboard by bending too hard something like that.
cool learning process! i use a similar one when learning but with ultimate guitar pro starting really slowly and building speed. think i need to try yours to improve my ear more
Awesome, one of my favourite solos by Metallica, if you want a fun challenge I was having a look at the tab for the latest Paul Gilbert guitar techniques fretboard masterclass, called ‘That’s to much like work’. It’ll certainly be an interesting one for sure!!!
Might not be a popular opinion, but, you could check out Elixir strings, I've tried a bunch of different brands but I always come back to them, not only are they hella durable, but they will also not tarnish your fingers. Personally I would go with Polywebs as they sit in the middle of coating thickness to "regular" string feeling ratio.
Nice one I might come back to it later I sent it to myself and you know me I watch it I’m follow along a little bit I love picking up Anything I can copy
Still staring your knees lol. You rock 👏🇬🇧so funny effects you do lol. I use to play n have fun at The Misty Moon pub in Camden. They use to make open stage. Ritchie Faulkner (judas) use to play there as well. Have you been there?

Ur lil hustler My Beautiful Sophie Bear, I like that quality about U My Beautiful sales Lady♥️😊
I love how I'm serious when I'm playing a song but when I'm learning one I play random stuff 24/7 making it take 20times longer than it should
I'm in the same raft too.
Hahaha seriously, I'll be sitting there playing some random riff then I'm like hang on, I'm supposed to be learning track "x"
ecactly
Same
Dude fucking same, you go from going over what your learning to just fucking about
Fun fact: They did actually record it slower and then speed up the recording. They do play it live at full speed, though, or sometimes faster depending on how Lars is feeling.
These are great videos. 🤣 It really helps others feel better about the learning process seeing someone who is a role model educator do it themselves
And what’s more, with A SENSE OF HUMOR. Sophie needs to keep this angle as much as the display of chops. She’s a Diamond when she combines the two.
Second that motion

What are you trying to say

The Spark certainly is an amazing amp too!
Cleaner in an hour than I was after a week of learning it.
Killer tone, too!
Yup. What she calls sloppy is a level God to me... Would probably never achieve that. But it's alright, we can't be all virtuosos ;)
I also get that anxiety/adrenaline when I'm learning new stuff. I'm always like "settle the fk down man" but I never do until I have it down perfectly.
I live for that feeling!
I used to play in a band that played a lot of Metallica, so I know the feeling, Sophie. They play everything on hyper speed.
Appreciate this very much an honest approach we are all human , great inspiration. I’ve been avoiding this main solo for along time , time to buckle down like you and get it done !

9:57 “Gross fingers” much needed so they don’t blister and hurt but are capable of making such beautiful sounds when they’re gross 💕
That squeely part I think Kirk accidentally moved the sting off the fret board. He still can't imitate it 40 years later.
