Why can’t developers just make a normal single player game? Why do people keep doing this “live service” bs where you grind the same missions over and over for boring loot? Live service games are trash and you can’t tell me otherwise.
This game has a good Single player set pieces , action story as well ! If games are made single player only , they collect dust after 1 or 2 weeks. My main problem is that the game is built specifically for multiplayer, like non story specific mission don't give you solo option you always have to have a a.i companion
You can totally do everything solo by turning off matchmaking and deselecting companions, and yes their is difficulty settings to make it easier to play solo or go all out in hard.

I had so many rage quit moments in this game. With some characters, when you get swarmed by bots with shields that are constantly staggering you, you're screwed. The AI has perfect targeting and you get targeted, tagged and staggered from enemy ranged attacks even while sprinting, in flight or even out of the field of view. It can leave you very tilted and hate the game.

Omg this game was fantastic. The story mode is great even if some of the missions are extremely infuriating, but the combat is solid and characters hit like friggin trucks. Plus tossing a bunch of shit around and tearing up the environment, so fun to do.
I’m not going to lie I’m getting tired of all these warframe destiny and battle Royale games they are ruining gaming anymore makes us hate each other and be utterly biased of why and what games we play
That's why i love the wolverine game to this day, every level was different and very interesting, no online multiplayer stuff just endless single player experience...
Wolverine origins was a an underappreciated classic. I thought the gameplay at the time was right up there with god of war. Wouldnt mind a remaster of that one.
I’d say do yourself a favor and wait till it drops in price. By then there will be more content and hopefully a lot of updates fixing the current problems.
The one thing I think its not worth it to get it now is the game is not complete yet. Game mode is pretty limited and hope it can be better with more characters and maybe some more game mode in the future. btw this is the only game I have seen that you must buy with full $59.99 without discount (mostly you can get it cheaper in like GMG but not this time)
I'm probably just going to wait for gotham knights instead but this seems fun I guess EDIT: yes I'm a DC fan, but I like Marvel too but this game seems kinda wack
I’m a huge Marvel fan, so when the tease for this game appeared so many years ago, I was so giddy with excitement. When the first trailer was released, I was like okay, this looks kinda cool. But as the war tables and other marketing showed up to explain what the game was about, I had my reservations. I’m more of a single player campaign guy; and if there’s loot to upgrade your character, I want to see the visual change (even tho loot in general can be pretty boring and stupid at times - it needs to be done right). The gameplay in my opinion is really bad. The small circles just before an enemy attacks are “inside” them, it’s hard to see; the camera work is odd,; and there’s not a lot of skill involved, it’s just button-mashing and destruction. That’s just from seeing the game, not playing it. But from what I saw... i was utterly disappointed. Which sucks bc i rly rly rly love marvel. I’m gonna be watching other ppl play thru the campaign, and maybe after when it’s cheaper I’ll buy it. Thanks @gameranx for confirming my “suspicions”.

because single player story games dont generate nearly as much money as multiplayer driven games. I'm just sayin companies should spend more efforts on the game and dlc itself but not tring to took advantage of players
Felix Liu honestly I’m expecting Cyberpunk 2077 to be the best game of the decade. If it’s any less than what they’ve promised I’m gonna be so disappointed cus that is the only game this year that I am genuinely excited for 😂
That makes no sense dude. Those reviews are mainly for people who didn't buy the game, so they know what they are getting in to. After buying it, you really should just play it and make your own mind about it, then maybe ask for refund if you are disappointed.
Well, the only difference is that all the dlc characters, story, etc are all going to be free. As far as I’ve been able to see from research you don’t have to spend a single cent to get anything, even the so called battle pass is fully available. Market place is full of “meh” stuff compared to the in game ones. But I guess I’ll find out once I actually play tonight
I feel like what they're trying to accomplish is how it is in the comics. Crazy random stories and team ups. Its not just 1 story that u get once. But a continuation of different missions n adventures
Maybe it could have worked if they stuck to 1 main story for the main game, then maybe have multiple other stories to play through that reference certain comics? They could even add some new story lines as DLC if they really wanted to. I'm not an expert on these sorts of things though since I don't play many games but I do enjoy watching them, so this is just an idea really. Also sorry I'm 9 months late-
Javier Moya Jake usually is a bit lenient in these “before you buy” tho, the game would have been so much better if they would have just done a typical offline missions. I never once heard that the story is good, it’s just campaign gets good sometimes, the companies still don’t understand that Arkham games worked for a reason, and that formula is the best
After putting some hours into the game I can say I really enjoy it. However, the cash grab thing that almost all games are going for now is, for a lack of a better word, disgusting. Also, as far as the credits and whatnot for character purchase, its not really all that difficult to power up your characters Challenge Card for the few cosmetics/emotes/and in game currency that it gives. As far as I can tell after completing the story and diving into the multiplayer, that's all the credits are even for (that being the Challenge Card for each character, outside of that they're practically pointless). However, I think the game would have been better received if they hadn't done "mission area" thing and just made each section ( Pacific North West/Utah/Eastern Seaboard) their own respected big hub world locations with free roam. We're moving away from small mission locations at this point in gaming and it always hurts to see a company that's capable of creating massive games do things like what this game has done.
The loot feels very tacked on. It doesn’t feel important at all, and it doesn’t change how you look. And I think the pvp type capture the area missions were odd inclusions, because you stand in one spot in this game we’re the fun part is beating guys and running around
I disagree, Loot feels fine to me. I prefer loot not change how I look because every game thats in you end up transmogging the gear so it looks how you want anyways so you aren't an ugly mismatch of gear that works best but doesn't look best. The loot can change the strength int what play style you want the character to be, be a ironman focused on hitting light finisher to apply gama which tick damages that on parry can get invulnerability buff, or synergy up light and heavy attacks to both apply plasma damage and if you take damage you have the chance to set off defensive explosions. the loot does exactly what loot is suppose to do without forcing me to look a different way. to me its perfect.
How does the loot not feel important? There are so many skills to get, some that can actually ampllify specific character abilities, and even on top of that, loot that adds status effects (such as being able to freaking shrink ur enemies). And u also have major artifacts give u an extra active ability determined by the artifact. And even more, each piece of loot affects ur ratings in different ways, u can build a tanky character, ability based character, melee based, ranged etc.

I'm having fun wit the game so far. Better than I expected. It's basically DC Universe wit a campaign(great story). Everything else is repetitive but that's expected for a game like this.
I'm not even really into Marvel, but with all the controversy, I was still interested in the review. I feel like it was spot on. In general, if devs and publishers want a stronger player-base that sticks around long enough to buy whatever DLC they are undoubtedly cooking up, how about they craft a satisfying campaign with stimulating gameplay that warrants and rewards multiple playthroughs? The lackluster loot here sounds scary similar to Anthem-grind for hours doing the same types of missions over and over again to get gear that hardly affects your overall experience. Even after that massive blunder, we're still getting fluff-riddled cash grabs like this. I'll pour one out for the Marvel fans because if this happens to games and franchises I care about, I'll be annoyed as hell.
Yeah no. Its not a cash grab at all. Honestly if you spend money on this game and it isn't for a specific skin you want, you'd just be wasting money. Like homie said, its all free. They just want to see who's dumb/lazy enough to spend money. Also the game isn't convoluted at all. I really don't see how you'd at all be confused about what's going on in this game if you're coming from loot based games. Pick a character, rank up to make a build, play the game to get loot to do more damage, not complex at all. Beat the campaign, jump in with some homies, have fun. Yeah its gonna be repetitive, but you can't tell me in the first weeks Destiny/Division etc that they weren't repetitive. It's a grind but at the same time not really, not when you're having fun. Btw when I say you i mean anyone in general.
@James Cook idgaf if it's popular are not, dude. If you don't see how ASPECTS of this game are problematic, you're lying to yourself. This game is divisive for a reason, and it has legitimate flaws. Does it still have enjoyable bits? Sure. Could/should it be better? Also, yes.
@@MerK_San This game 100% did not need microtransactions, which are pretty much the definition of a cash grab. Its loot system also makes little sense in this type of game. It’s just fluff and barely affects gameplay. You say they just want to see who is dumb/lazy enough to spend money, but that’s not exactly an approach or design that should be rewarded. Also, just because “games as a live service” games like Destiny get better over time doesn’t mean they should be excused for being underwhelming, grindy, and repetitive at launch with a premium price tag. I know some people have fun with this game, and I'm definitely happy for them. Also, I’m sure it will get better over time, but it has legitimate flaws that deserve criticism as well.
Amazing. Every word of what you just said was wrong. Post-launch content will be free. Gear matters. Not change you look, tho, but that's not a problem. The special effects and elemental effects change the gameplay and how you need to build your character.
Antuco Black I think it’s more of how that basically tell you “buy a quarter of our game which is 60 dollars and you’ll get the rest later.” by making the dlcs most of the game.

Yeah, me too honestly. Ig I’m just kinda burned out from grinding all sorts of games over the past few years, at the moment I’m really just trying to take it slow and playing games just for a fun time again instead of trying to max my stats, characters, etc. probably why I started playing single player games like the last of us again
Personally I love almost everything about the game. The entire campaign for me was amazing and satisfying, and I loved it. Personally I really enjoy beat-em-up type games where you just go around punching things until your heart gives out. This game gives me a huge MMO RPG vibe, like WOW, or TERA online, and is especially similar to DC universe online. Personally I really love the grinding and finding better gear and leveling up your character until you get to the end and get your gear maxed. It does take a while but for me that's part of the fun. The whole "games as a service" or "microtransaction" thing to me in this game is WAYYYYYY better than what it could've been. Practically every single skin in the game is available to earn instead of just paying for it. And some skin you actually HAVE to earn it instead of just paying for it. The biggest problems I have with games today is the fact that they're all 20 hour games you pay $60 for, and then you never play it again. I feel like this game gets a pretty decent combination of a great single player experience, with an entire MMO side for those who want more than just 20 hours of gameplay. I absolutely love the combat in this game, and personally it's one of my favorite parts. It's fun, fluid, fast paste, the animations are top notch, and sometimes there's so much shit going on and robots parts flying everywhere that it just gets me excited lol. To me, the combat is very fun, the leveling and grinding is very satisfying since it feels so much like an MMO RPG game, which is exactly what I think they were going for. It's almost like two entire games mixed into each other, and because I love both styles of games (single player story and MMO RPG) then the game for me is a win win. And all the DLC stuff they add is basically like wow coming out with new expansions. Every DLC is a new character and a brand new part of the story. And having DLC being added to a game like this is what will keep me playing the game constantly. Every time they add a new character and add more missions, I'll be coming back to the game. This type of "games as a service" works, because the game will be lasting for years instead of 20 hours. And you can't say that they're just making it a "game as a service" for money, because practically every single thing is earnable, and nothing is honestly that far out of reach or THAT big of a grind to earn. AND every DLC they add will be completely free. I've only been playing the game for like 3 days now. I already have ms. Marvel level 50 with a 140 power lvl. I also have half of her skins and I haven't spent a single penny, other than buying the actual game. But If you don't enjoy the grinding, or the combat system, then I would completely understand why you wouldn't enjoy the multiplayer. It is very repetative, but to me it's also satisfying, and I already have more than twice hours in this game than I have in tlou or gow, or any of those other single player games. And as long as I don't need to pay extra for the things I like in this game, then I'll be happy.
Not the disaster many of us were expecting, but still has biig issues.

With destructible environments.
I was thinking why they didn't do this. It would've been so cool!
Nah it would’ve been better as a single player game all around

This is how most games feel when they are released. Maybe developers aren't as creative or talented as they used to be.

@@kadenzepher what do you mean by "you people". 😆
I’ll probably wait until the definitive version drops
And as long as I don't need to pay extra for the things I like in this game, then I'll be happy.
i totally agree you nailed it
