But alas, he does show favoritism to some generes/themes and I take some of his review with a little more grain of salt. Also I never trust 100% any reviewer, I have some that I trust and they have diverse enough opinions that I can watch them all to finally take my own conclusions of what the game might be, and if it would match my tastes. I simply don't believe people should blindly trust any reviewer, or just use specific ones to confirm what they suspect the game might be while ignoring others.

honestly, i find the story fine. the first one is a simpler tale and really an exploration of how a relationship develops over time. This one is more a rumination on how a person can be humanized by another. its got some flaws sure, but the game itself is better and overall it balances out. Id say the two games are pretty equal, where one has a better story but weaker moment to moment gameplay, the other is the reverse.

First, it wasn’t Joel that decided to go. It was Tommy. Second, you could tell Joel was apprehensive about it. Third, it’s was a snow storm and they were being chased by a horde of clickers after being out all night. They didn’t have much of a choice. There is nothing wrong with the story. Fourth, the girl just helped them get through the horde. You may not have liked it but that doesn’t mean it was bad. Unless, you can break it down and explain the mechanics in a story and how you would have done it better, you need to shut the fuck up.
Being as vague as possible here but; Yeah I’ve just reached the second half, after about an hour and a half I was like “oh my god how long does this last” and googled it. Which was when I realised this shit lasts basically as long as everything I’ve played so far... I actually might just give up because I do not care enough to wade through this shit for that long. No spoilers pls but... is it honestly worth getting through the rest?

I've been watching some of his Twitch stream on this game and he got so upset after the golfing scene that he stopped playing and threw the controller on the floor and walked away for a while so OJ had to continue playing. But him and his crew just seemed annoyed the rest of the time. He did seem to really like the flashback stuff. But I can't imagine how he's gonna act at the end. I can see it now... His review is gonna start with "You done f***ed it up!".

I feel like that 30% of the story you didn’t like unfortunately defines the game and leaves a bitter taste in the mouths of fans of TLOU. Just like how certain decisions in season 8 of GOT defined the legacy of the series.
I feel that in video games, you enjoying the "game" is just as good as the "story" so comparing it to GoT is not quite the same. GoT is all story, so if you don't enjoy the story, you loose a bigger portion. Like most people probably don't play call of duty for the story, but the gameplay (specifically the multiplayer) is amazing. I can see in TLOU2 the story plays a larger part (compared to CoD), but the gameplay should still be the shining star for a "game". Which harks back to what he said about repetitive gameplay is a bigger reason to look out for this game. That's my opinion at least.
They also made friends with a team of doctors, they developed a cure without inflicting agonizing pain to Ellie and cured everyone in the world. Epilogue: Joe brought Ellie to the zoo to see some giraffes.
Problem is that was one of the reasons that mad the first such a masterpiece. This game is basically the TLOU but all the characters are just polygons and have no dialogue
JonMakesVideos exactly like there is no character development whatsoever and the story full of plot holes like my god. And they teased in the trailers that Joel would be part of the story and he’s not like wth
I managed to stay in the dark, saw the two first trailers released and nothing about the leaks. Played the first game when it came out and was very, very hyped for the sequel and I wasn’t let down at all, it’s amazing how they managed to make me like Abby over time, despite the fact that I wanted to bash her face in for what she did to Joel. The last fight between Abby and Ellie didn’t give me any satisfaction or hype in that I didn’t want anyone to die. Both of them lost a lot because of vengeance. As much as it sucked to lose Joel, it wasn’t that unexpected, he doomed humanity to endure the Cordyceps without a shot at a cure whilst killing scores of people, of course someone would come after him. Regarding the end, when Ellie sees a flash of Joel on the porch and then we see the full flashback. She says she would like to try and forgive Joel for what he did and that what she does with Abby. Try to forgive and let go. That’s just how interpreted that moment. Also, the Scars with their hammers had nothing on Abby when her pythons were unleashed. She looked badass when brawling!
That is in my opinion the aim of the game, letting you see both sides of the story, many people did not understand at all the point of the game, and just kept seeking revenge against Abby, being disappointed when Ellie let her survive
I felt so conflicted at the end... I wanted to go to town on Abby, and at the same time I wanted Ellie to spare her... I just wish they explored Abby's character longer instead of trying to condense the entirety of "TLoU but with Abby" in just a few hours... I get what they were going for, but it was a bit too rushed. At least they should've shown Abby to be more remorseful about killing Joel, then her change of heart wouldn't come so out of nowhere as it did. Still, great game.
Finally a great review by professionals who actually pay attention to every detail before opening their mouths. Too many cry babies over a videogame these days. People even cried over the first game.

I loved the game. I agreed to everything you said. I had to take a break after playing as a certain character for a while, I started to feel like I wanted to get it over with and see the end. But after I took a break from the game for a couple of weeks, I started playing again and it didn't bother me as much. I give the game a 8/10. You should buy this and even though it might upset you a little, you'll be glad that you played it. Thanks for taking the time to read this and have a good rest of your day!
This. Exactly what happened with me. 4 hours in and I stopped playing with that character. Little did I know there was still about 4-6 hours left... That's the main reason why I'd give the game a lower rating. It's because of how they structured it. If I had to that character in the beginning and have both paths meet, it would have been much better.
I honestly loved it. I don’t think I’ve ever been so emotionally invested in a game. I really enjoyed the first one but man.. this one came with a punch.
I loved it too! Just as much as the first. I sat on it for a while after only playing the first chapter or so, but I've just come back and smashed through the game exploring every single nook at 50 hours and finally finished. Loved it 100%, loved the characters, Abby was great IMO. I would love to see her an Ellie eventually see eye to eye and work together, two very powerful ladies. Honestly we'd all hate Abby if we didn't get her origin, but playing out so much of her story was great.
Yeah I was invested emotionally too so when "that moment" happened I had to turn the game off lol. Really made me feel a way.. but when my wife had the same reaction as me (she watched me play part 1) I knew I wasnt the only one. This game is a masterpiece for those reasons on top of everything else.

Naughty Dog destroyed their characters by making them reveal their names to a bunch of strangers. Real Joel and Tommy would never do that, they both are very smart
I still enjoying the gameplay after not only finishing the game for 4 times and playing my favorite encounters in different difficultys and it's one of the best gameplay I ever experienced because of the cool animaitions and details.

Imagine Micah killing Arthur Morgan early and then playing the most of the game as micah . Then john tries to seek revenge and locate micah at top the hill , then at the last moment changes his mind about all the revenge ideas and just let Micah go .
Little different though, we played an entire game as Joel where we saw him develope from the very beginning of the outbreak. All the RDR2 characters were essentially brand new with the few exceptions like dutch, john,bill and as such players hadnt built a relationship with Micah going into RDR2

I'd play that, hell that would be pretty interesting to see the story of Wolfenstein from the enemy point of view, what the culture there is like and how the soldiers really feel about the war and the regime. It would make for an interesting spin-off game.

The game combat is what really sets it apart. Especially facing human opponents! I would of replayed it a second time on the new difficulty if it didn't go off ps now. Its one of the few games that blew me away with the combat situations you would get in.

I loved the gameplay, the story, setting...everything. So many fans hated how the story went but I loved it. Definitely in my top 10 favorite games. And yes, the graphics are consistently gorgeous and at times I would completely stop playing and just stare at my tv. Jaw dropping.

But alas, he does show favoritism to some generes/themes and I take some of his review with a little more grain of salt.
Also I never trust 100% any reviewer, I have some that I trust and they have diverse enough opinions that I can watch them all to finally take my own conclusions of what the game might be, and if it would match my tastes. I simply don't believe people should blindly trust any reviewer, or just use specific ones to confirm what they suspect the game might be while ignoring others.

honestly, i find the story fine. the first one is a simpler tale and really an exploration of how a relationship develops over time. This one is more a rumination on how a person can be humanized by another. its got some flaws sure, but the game itself is better and overall it balances out. Id say the two games are pretty equal, where one has a better story but weaker moment to moment gameplay, the other is the reverse.

@@quinnmarchese6313 nah dude I get you have your opinion and I respect it but after finishing it this is a complete and utter chaos, nobody prepared us for what was to come, the game looks amazing and I loved the graphics but the story is not fun, the gameplay Is pretty much the same but I would also argue that at some points it's even worse than the first one, I never actually had any problems in the first one but sometimes stupid shit like being being shot while I was under cover and stuff like that happened to me on the first one but it didn't matter cause the story was consistent and I wanted to see more, you cared for the two of them and I didn't have to play for half an hour or even an hour for something interesting to happen

First, it wasn’t Joel that decided to go. It was Tommy. Second, you could tell Joel was apprehensive about it. Third, it’s was a snow storm and they were being chased by a horde of clickers after being out all night. They didn’t have much of a choice. There is nothing wrong with the story. Fourth, the girl just helped them get through the horde. You may not have liked it but that doesn’t mean it was bad. Unless, you can break it down and explain the mechanics in a story and how you would have done it better, you need to shut the fuck up.

I've been watching some of his Twitch stream on this game and he got so upset after the golfing scene that he stopped playing and threw the controller on the floor and walked away for a while so OJ had to continue playing. But him and his crew just seemed annoyed the rest of the time. He did seem to really like the flashback stuff. But I can't imagine how he's gonna act at the end. I can see it now... I feel like that 30% of the story you didn’t like unfortunately defines the game and leaves a bitter taste in the mouths of fans of TLOU. Just like how certain decisions in season 8 of GOT defined the legacy of the series.
I feel that in video games, you enjoying the "game" is just as good as the "story" so comparing it to GoT is not quite the same. GoT is all story, so if you don't enjoy the story, you loose a bigger portion. Like most people probably don't play call of duty for the story, but the gameplay (specifically the multiplayer) is amazing. I can see in TLOU2 the story plays a larger part (compared to CoD), but the gameplay should still be the shining star for a "game". Which harks back to what he said about repetitive gameplay is a bigger reason to look out for this game. That's my opinion at least.

I managed to stay in the dark, saw the two first trailers released and nothing about the leaks.
Played the first game when it came out and was very, very hyped for the sequel and I wasn’t let down at all, it’s amazing how they managed to make me like Abby over time, despite the fact that I wanted to bash her face in for what she did to Joel.
The last fight between Abby and Ellie didn’t give me any satisfaction or hype in that I didn’t want anyone to die. Both of them lost a lot because of vengeance.
As much as it sucked to lose Joel, it wasn’t that unexpected, he doomed humanity to endure the Cordyceps without a shot at a cure whilst killing scores of people, of course someone would come after him.
Regarding the end, when Ellie sees a flash of Joel on the porch and then we see the full flashback. She says she would like to try and forgive Joel for what he did and that what she does with Abby. Try to forgive and let go. That’s just how interpreted that moment.
Also, the Scars with their hammers had nothing on Abby when her pythons were unleashed. She looked badass when brawling!
That is in my opinion the aim of the game, letting you see both sides of the story, many people did not understand at all the point of the game, and just kept seeking revenge against Abby, being disappointed when Ellie let her survive
I felt so conflicted at the end... I wanted to go to town on Abby, and at the same time I wanted Ellie to spare her... I just wish they explored Abby's character longer instead of trying to condense the entirety of "TLoU but with Abby" in just a few hours... I get what they were going for, but it was a bit too rushed. At least they should've shown Abby to be more remorseful about killing Joel, then her change of heart wouldn't come so out of nowhere as it did. Still, great game.

But after I took a break from the game for a couple of weeks, I started playing again and it didn't bother me as much. I give the game a 8/10. This. Exactly what happened with me. 4 hours in and I stopped playing with that character. Little did I know there was still about 4-6 hours left... That's the main reason why I'd give the game a lower rating. It's because of how they structured it. If I had to that character in the beginning and have both paths meet, it would have been much better.

I loved it too! Just as much as the first. I sat on it for a while after only playing the first chapter or so, but I've just come back and smashed through the game exploring every single nook at 50 hours and finally finished. Loved it 100%, loved the characters, Abby was great IMO. I would love to see her an Ellie eventually see eye to eye and work together, two very powerful ladies. Honestly we'd all hate Abby if we didn't get her origin, but playing out so much of her story was great.
Yeah I was invested emotionally too so when "that moment" happened I had to turn the game off lol. Really made me feel a way.. but when my wife had the same reaction as me (she watched me play part 1) I knew I wasnt the only one. This game is a masterpiece for those reasons on top of everything else.

I still enjoying the gameplay after not only finishing the game for 4 times and playing my favorite encounters in different difficultys and it's one of the best gameplay I ever experienced because of the cool animaitions and details.

Imagine Micah killing Arthur Morgan early and then playing the most of the game as micah . Then john tries to seek revenge and locate micah at top the hill , then at the last moment changes his mind about all the revenge ideas and just let Micah go .
Little different though, we played an entire game as Joel where we saw him develope from the very beginning of the outbreak. All the RDR2 characters were essentially brand new with the few exceptions like dutch, john,bill and as such players hadnt built a relationship with Micah going into RDR2

I'd play that, hell that would be pretty interesting to see the story of Wolfenstein from the enemy point of view, what the culture there is like and how the soldiers really feel about the war and the regime. It would make for an interesting spin-off game.
Cr1tikal had a good take on it, the story isn't bad, but the order of it is, if the game started with the flashbacks with Joel, then you would play as Abby and then Joel would die it would make more sense

The game combat is what really sets it apart. Especially facing human opponents! I would of replayed it a second time on the new difficulty if it didn't go off ps now. Its one of the few games that blew me away with the combat situations you would get in.

I loved the gameplay, the story, setting...everything. So many fans hated how the story went but I loved it. Definitely in my top 10 favorite games. And yes, the graphics are consistently gorgeous and at times I would completely stop playing and just stare at my tv. Jaw dropping.
