A solid guide, and great advice - thank you Sam, I'm loving your creative streak at the moment.....
It's been a while since I set my pfsense router/modem up, so it's great to have a newer guide available if and when one is needed as I've forgotten the steps I did...doh 🙂

Nice to see another pfsense tutorial. I've not really looked at my pfsense for a while 😊
I'd like to see you do a pfblocker tutorial as it would be from the UK prospective rather than the US.

It's definitely going to be covered, hopefully soon.

12:45 if the box is ticked, IPv6 is enabled (by default), but I don't see why one should disable IPv6 anyways
Other than that, very nice guide :D

So do you only work for small businesses? I need help setting up a secure network in my home. I’m in Liverpool, I see you are based in Manchester. If you only do workplaces,do you have any recommendations where I can hire someone ? I’m pretty desperate right now.

I see you have posted videos for Untangle and pfsense. What's you go to firewall these days?

PfSense, I've only ever used Untangle where better user reports have been required where people are going.
Untangle charge for things that are free, such as ipsec and wireguard.

Makes sense. Trying pfsense again atm, for several reasons. I like to explore tech and I think pfsense is very good for air gapped networks / build other firewalls in the DC. Prior to that running Sophos XG Home. Got a Dell R220 racked in the loft and easy to change builds via idrac.
Did have it running on a Sophos XG 230 Rev2 appliance and that was 👌
However idle power was 30w and when I’m offered more than I paid for it I moved it on.
I used to use Untangle, reporting was good, but I prefer XG and pfsense logic.
With QUIC, further protocol changes and TLS 1.3 it’s more difficult to check traffic.

The fact that you still use a regular slowUSB drive to install it, tells me of your old methods and tools.
