For anyone that might have missed it. I didn't really like ACOTAR but after everyone said book 2 was better I read ACOMAF. I really liked it (even though it had some weaknesses) it was so much better. That's why even though I had heard the first 2 books in this series weren't the best, I'm still open to continuing. I'm not trying to torture myself for fun :)
No spoilers I promise. I read the first book and was like meh. Second book was much better. Third book Rowan happened. Fourth book jaw dropped. Fifth book omg. Just finishing Tower of Dawn now and loving it. Kingdom of Ash is waiting on my bookshelf. Seriously, it gets so much better. I personally think that Sarah J. Mass has a thing for powerful couples (nothing wrong with that) and I think that I like Feyre and Rhysand more. Btw, cringy sex bits warning, you're not gonna like those. I enjoy them but just heads up.
I didn't read the serie myself, but I guess it would be a waste of time. On your bookshelf you've so much more books that can be vlogged like this. Why don't read the secon rainbow shelf and vlogged it for us? It would be a variety of genres, and it would keep things interesting.
Actually while i hated the first book , the second one was my favourite , then it all went downhill from there . The only good thing that came from this entire series is a character called manon , she's the only thing that made this series bearable
*She has no redeeming qualities... She’s pretty. And she hasn’t died yet* 😂 my favourite review of this book!! Brilliant! I couldn’t believe you were so hopeful honestly!
My main problem with this book is how the main character was supposed to be the best assassin ever, but she was so incompetent and so full of herself for no reason🤢😰😤
My main problems were that Celaena was half a mary sue half actually ok character and they never left the castle. Really? Sarah J Maas made a whole fantasy world around the characters and they stayed in one place. If the second book wouldn't have ended in Celaena going to Wendlyn I wouldn't have continued the series.
For me, the problem I had with Throne of Glass was the tone of the book. You have a "hardened assassin" in a medieval fantasy setting who has the personality and emotional capacity of a modern YA contemporary character. It makes the entire book feel unbalanced and cringey.
I would definitely watch a review of the second book. I haven't read any of them and this video was pretty entertaining, so I say yes, read the second one!
I really hate the women hate in books and the "not like most girls" trope too and it really annoys me when the author is a woman who is doing it. Like, can we please support other women?!
Yeah agreed. Like she was almost raped by other guards in the mines but she's okay with all the guards she sees daily and smiles at them but the horrible women who look a her pretty dress or wonder why she's with the prince... gotta smirk at them!! Made no sense to me :/
@@BookswithEmilyFox Wasn't that some other woman though that was? I for some reason thought that wasnt her. She killed guards for raping someone else though.
I just started reading Throne of Glass recently and my reaction to was similar. I'm not really a critical reader and I've like a fair number of bad books, but so far from what I've read of this one I've just been really frustrated with it. I think I would have been less bothered if her flaws (like her vanity) were actually presented as flaws. Or if early on it actually showed her skills-- like opening with her escape attempt instead of mentioning it briefly. I'm still working on reading it because I really wanted to like it and I went into it really hopeful, but it's been a hard process.
These series is getting better and better!! Please finish it . I promise. It would have been such pity if you stop. The character deplovement is real and Sarah writing is getting better . Please don't sleep on this.
This is going to sound mean ... but I love it when you read books, you know you're not going to like .. 😅 I like hearing your opinion and you are very unapologetic, which I really enjoy. As long as it's not too cruel for you, I'd love to hear more about these books (that I don't want to read myself 😂 )
Hi Emily!! I hope you'll continue reading the series. You'll still find more problems in the upcoming books but the world became so much bigger and the plot of the whole series is so far from the first book. Also, I love the friendship aspect of this series and you'll find Celaena's character development in the later books! 😊
Believe it or not, Celaena get even more insufferable as the series goes on. I first read the series in 2015 and by book 3 I was done with it but kept reading out of obligation. I was also not a very observant reader back then so I missed all the foreshadowing. While I'd be curious to hear your thoughts, I'd honestly say only continue to read them if you want to hate-read cause otherwise it's not worth the time or energy, especially if you didn't like the characters already. Also I've always read Chaol as Kale but I have no idea if that's right or not. Also also love the bunny ears headband!
Yes! Keep reading. (If you want) I thought the first book was meh and wasn't going to continue but then thoroughly enjoyed the second and on. I'd love to see if you enjoy it as the series goes on! I'd love to see you do a reading vlog for "A Winters Promise" and see if it's worth the hype!
Definitely continue! I liked the first two books well enough to continue, but I struggle to go back and re-read them now. Books 3 on it's almost like another series (but not in a bad, disjointed way, just in that the characters have grown up so much) and it even switches from YA to NA which works well too.
I'm testing it to see how everyone feels about it but I like the idea of "we can all watch it together live" and I get to reply to comments live too so it might be fun!
YES, I love this. Please do continue doing them! I mean I don't care much for the Throne of Glass series but I'd love to see this kind of vlog with other books.
I really enjoyed that reading vlog format. that really let us know more about your opinion. looking forward to the next ones. about that series in particular, I don't think you should keep going. most people say it gets really bad after book 3

Your ranting was so entertaining to watch, so I definitely vote for you to continue. Haven't read the series myself yet but a lot of people say it gets much better so I hope this will be a repeat of ACOMAF for you.
I’ve been so eager to hear your thoughts on this book as I’ve been very curious about reading this series. I don’t like starting unfinished series, which is why I haven’t started Game of Thrones. I vote yes for you to continue the Throne of Glass series. Also, I love the sticky tabs.
Definitely continue! There are a lot of things that you're reading about right now that don't make any sense, but they will as you continue to read the series. Celeana definitely isn't my favorite protagonist, but I love some of the other characters and the magic system. As much as I love SJM, I do agree with much of what you've said in this video.
The bunny ears came out of nowhere and they are amazing!!! That was a better twist than anything in Throne of Glass! 😂😂😂 I'm also going to keep my eyes open for something like that for face masks though cause that is amazing!
This type of vlog-video is so much fun! I still haven't read this book even though it sits on my shelves (literally collecting dust, I just went and dusted some off lol). For being an assassin she seems very much NOT like an assassin. 🙈
I am so glad, I'm not the only one that doesn't like this series. Everything you said, I did too when reading it! Please keep up with the series I would love to know your thoughts as the series goes.
This video is exactly what I need since I just started ToG too and I can’t push forward. Lol. It is so cringey! 😫 since I have mostly the same taste in books as you do, I’m pretty sure this vlog will heavily influence my decision to read through (or not). 😬
Thing is I didn't like ACOTAR and had no intention of continuing. I eventually did since everyone said it was much better... and it was. Still had weaknesses but it was MUCH better so I'm hoping it will be the same for TOG. Worst case scenario it's entertaining to rant lol
I've never seen anyone who has a more powerful eye roll. Your eye rolls are both beautiful and savage. And friend, let me tell you, your lip color is gorgeous!

Yes it may get better but how much better? I feel like there are so many other books to read out there that why waste your time on ones that you won’t enjoy.
I say continue! Definitely entertaining haha! I read the first book and didn’t want to finish the series at all. There was a big gap before I picked up the series again and now I’m on book 5. I started really enjoying from book 3 on but it’s just a fun, get out of a slump series for me. I’ve read each book in between heavier high fantasy and historical fiction series I love. I think if the story started at book 2 or 3 it would be much more redeeming series for people.
Firstly, LOVE this style of video. Secondly, you made me totally want to get those cute post its for reading notes. I always see them in daiso and Japanese markets and want to buy them but never have any idea what I'd use them for. Brilliant!
I was hoping it would still be interesting even though my vlogging camera isn't working lol Honestly feel the video would have been way too long if I had included random life bits! Best stickers ever! I'll have to get more because I don't wanna be without them for any future reviews :D
@@BookswithEmilyFox It was super interesting because the main reason to watch a reading vlog is for the reading lol but I definitely wouldn't mind a longer video with some life bits too! :) As soon as I get home I'm running out to daiso to pick some up myself too haha
please do continue, this was hilarious and I love all of your commentary 😂 also, I own the first few books in this series and have been going back and forth about giving them a chance or just unhauling them ashjdlfksf, and I feel like you and I have pretty similar reading tastes, so I would love to hear your personal thoughts and opinion about whether the series really does get better! 💜
I agree that Celaena is pretty insufferable in book 1... but as someone who has read all 7 books I PROMISE you her character development throughout the series is amazing! The story itself also becomes waaaay different than what occurs in the first book, by book 3 its like an entirely different series (but for the better!!)
I thought she got better in book 2 and 3 and a whole lot worst in book 4-5 when something about her was revealed....but I agree that characters who are annoying in book 1 can have amazing character development and become amazing characters overall. It's just that Celaena is not one for me.
The series definitely has it's flaws all the way up to book 7 but I still love it, it gets so much better. Some of my fave characters are the ones not introduced until books 3 and 4
I totally agree! I just finished the last book and have been thinking about how much the series has grown since the first two books. There are still issues of course, but man, I LOVED the series as a whole.
Hi Emily, I totally understand your opinions! Throne of Glass is one of my favorite series of all time. However, the first book is definitely not nearly as good as the rest of them. And I agree, Celaena is really not that great in the first book. However, there is significant character development throughout the entire series, and the love triangle and not what you think haha. I’m really glad you gave this book a chance though! It’s not for everyone, but I really enjoyed it.
This book reminded me how much of a character driven person I am. I went into it because the plot sounded interesting but I can't stand Celaena and now i've been stuck on page 113 for weeks. Also I don't believe for a second that she's an assassin. Even less a good one. I still wanna finish it though because I like torturing myself I guess.
This is such a good idea for a series it’s nice to get ur fresh thoughts throughout the book! I also hated this book 😂 I read the second book and I think I liked it slightly more I’d def want to ur hear thoughts on it 😊
this series is so white, cis, straight and cliché for me. the plot is okay till book 3, after this one is kinda messy, the characters change abruptly to serve the plot and keep the story going. i think the fandom that the author gathered through the years is very loyal to her, they close their eyes to every problematic or sloppy point of the series due to their passion/obsession with the characters/worldbuilding and nostalgia feeling. well, that's my opinion, i loved this series at the beginning, but, fortunately, opened my eyes and used my reason instead of my emotion. :/
i have loved this series for a while and i am rereading it slowly to read the last 2 books. even tho i liked the books, i absolutely adored this video and i think you are 100% right about the things you say!! i will watch all these types of videos forever hahaha merci cetait vraiment genial comme video jadore tes reactions
I shouldn't have to read 2+books for a series to get good or for things to 'start' to unfold. if it takes that long, its because the writer is dragging it out or has a poor editor, imho.
It’s not that they aren’t good, it’s just that they are not that special. I still enjoyed them en wanted to read more, and I’m glad I did ‘cause it got really interesting. The first en third book seem like two entirely different series lol. But everyone there own!
I love how you keep it so real! "I can't even finish the chapter before complaining about these characters!" Lol I couldn't finish this book because the characters were so horrible! That being said one of my favorite series had a horrible first book but I'm glad I pushed through to the second book, so maybe this is the case with Throne of glass?
YES. You absolutely have to continue. I have a love-hate relationship with this series, too. Though yours seem more like a hate-meh-hate relationship. This video made me laugh so hard! I have to say though, Heir of Fire really got to me and I'll probably continue with this series just because I like re-reading it. But Throne of Glass, oh it made me roll my eyes so much. Celaena's character was made to be so whiny, pompous and childish. It gets better though, you get used to her like you would an annoying best friend, she grows on you. Eventually. Give or take 3 books in. The writing also irritated me because it felt like the author wanted to include everything she loved in life into it (aka clothes, chocolates, books.) It's a bit much. It is supposed to be an assassin book after all. A lot of it felt out of line from the plot, unnecessary but included for the writer's whims. And please tell me that I'm not the only one who noticed the gazillion exclamation points in this book. I don't think you need that many exclamation points to get emotions across. I've pretty much rolled my eyes endlessly reading through this series. Something about her writing just cringes the heck out of me. I probably get exhausted reading her books, not for their sheer volume, but from tireless eye rolling. HOWEVER, yes there is a however, the plot does get good. Like REALLY good that it will make you want to stick it out just to find out what happens. So it's worth to give it a go. Plus even if you hate it Emily, it would be so fun watching you cringe your way through this series. I, for one, will be tremendously entertained. :D
I'd love to see your thoughts on this series! I really disliked books 1 & 2 but ended up loving the rest. It gets better but Celaena is annoying frustrating throughout the series lol
I lowkey want you to read the next book. I got to the third book and ended up just dnfing it about a third in. After hearing booktubers talk about the series I don't feel bad for not liking it anymore.
I would like to see your thoughts on the other books! The thing with Throne of Glass is you only see the true potential of the series once your reach book 3. I encourage you to keep going! Oh and also, The Assassin's Blade is really good too!
I would love for you to continue the series because i would like to hear your thoughts about it. I am now at book 4 and so far the 3rd one was the best and i really enjoyed it 😁. Some things that you disliked (and you were right) will definitely get better 😃
i really think you should continue with the series, if you really enjoyed ACOMAF i think you'll love book 3, 6 and 7. those books are all about character growth and you really see Celeana change, and grow. I think the books in-between are okay, but definitely worth reading fors book 3,6 and 7.
The thing you said with the eyes isn’t beceause of the romance, if you continue onto book two it’s a major factor of the plot. It’s actually just a smart thing that Sarah wrote about her eyes. I say definitely read number two
This is the best and perfectly shows my thoughts when I first read this book 😂 my god I hated the main character. I finished the series and can honestly say you’re not missing anything if you don’t continue
Ah sorry! It's a new option they give us to announce a video coming up so we can all "watch it live together" and I get to reply to comments live too. I wanted to test it and see how it went... it sounds fun :)
@@BookswithEmilyFox is it something that will be saved afterwards? It airs in my time zone during the normal work day. I don't think my boss would appreciate a booktube break. 😂
Maybe this would be better if the notice that it's premiering was closer to the actual time so we could look forward to it without being as disappointed by the wait. (Not trying to be mean, just suggesting)
I didn't know what would happen with the notifications so I was testing it. It is less than 24h away but I understand. I'll probably do it more like 1h before if I can next time!
I'm nervous about this, because I found the book entertaining and I'm like OMG WAS SHE ENTERTAINED? WILL SHE HATE IT? This premiere is worth watching live 😱
I tend to think of Celaena’s bravado as a youth thing. All teenagers tend to be obnoxious at times, myself included at that age. I’m hoping more info about her feelings towards other women will come about in later books. But I vote you keep going. I’m loving the snark and it’s making me look at it in a different light.
It just seems like she had a rough time becoming an assassin (can't have been easy with lots of these type of men around) and then was almost raped in the mines by guards... yet she has no issues with men. Idk I'm just not understanding her at all right now :/
I was about 15 or 16 when I first read this book, and it must have been one of the first YA books I'd ever read, so all of the tropes just went over my head. I really enjoyed it then, but I'm sure if I read it now I wouldn't like it nearly as much. Idk I guess it would be fun to see you rant about the second book😂😂😂
Great video - exactly same reaction as me when I first read ToG a few years back! As for If you continue, in two minds. Heard the series does get slowly better (slowly being Main word here) and I know people who love this series, but seeing the rage you had with this, not sure if it worth making you read rest of series.
I’m taking this off my tbr now 😂👍🏻 And I say skip the rest of this series and start Bone Season. I’ve read the first one and am curious about your thoughts!
I'm not finished with the series yet, but I think The Assassin's Blade (the prequel) is way better than the first couple of books. Maybe read that and see if you like it better.
Hahah I knew you wouldn't like it. The series gets a LOT better as you go on. I'm complete Maas trash and I'm not a huge fan of the first two books. I would like you to continue but I would understand if you wouldn't want to because if somebody told me I had to read 3 books before a series got good I'd be like "yeah I'd rather not" 😂

I started really enjoying from book 3 on but it’s just a fun, get out of a slump series for me. I’ve read each book in between heavier high fantasy and historical fiction series I love. I think if the story started at book 2 or 3 it would be much more redeeming series for people.
The sass in this video is giving me LIFE 😂💗
You made me laugh so hard with your harsh opinions, it was hysterical!
Definitely do more videos like this one in the future!
I say that you continue reading the series. I haven't read any of these books but this video cracked me up! Keep going! LOL
Firstly, LOVE this style of video. Secondly, you made me totally want to get those cute post its for reading notes. I always see them in daiso and Japanese markets and want to buy them but never have any idea what I'd use them for. Brilliant!
I was hoping it would still be interesting even though my vlogging camera isn't working lol
Honestly feel the video would have been way too long if I had included random life bits!
Omg lol “like why are you smirking at women?”
You crack me up, ur my fav.
please do continue, this was hilarious and I love all of your commentary 😂 also, I own the first few books in this series and have been going back and forth about giving them a chance or just unhauling them ashjdlfksf, and I feel like you and I have pretty similar reading tastes, so I would love to hear your personal thoughts and opinion about whether the series really does get better! 💜
I agree that Celaena is pretty insufferable in book 1... but as someone who has read all 7 books I PROMISE you her character development throughout the series is amazing! The story itself also becomes waaaay different than what occurs in the first book, by book 3 its like an entirely different series (but for the better!!)
I'm definitely hoping so!
@@BookswithEmilyFox I agree! The first two were pretty average but by the end, they get really good!
You make me laugh so hard, your cynicism is adorable - especially in the Bunny headband 😍❤️😘
The contrast made it awesome haha
Yes EPIC 😂
I feel like it gets sooo much better so I vote yes to continue!
This was super entertaining! can't say I'll be reading them but I love reading vlogs.
YES , please do continue to read the book series.
😀
Yes, please keep reading the series! (Whenever you feel like it though)
Yes!!! This was hilarious and honestly one of the most enjoyable videos of yours!!!
This video was great! I hope you’ll do more reading vlogs like this! 😍
Yesssss keep reading, it gets better ! And this was super entertaining lol
Thanks for your honest review. Even I struggled to finish the EOS.
YES CONTINUE THE SERIES
This book reminded me how much of a character driven person I am. I went into it because the plot sounded interesting but I can't stand Celaena and now i've been stuck on page 113 for weeks. Also I don't believe for a second that she's an assassin. Even less a good one. I still wanna finish it though because I like torturing myself I guess.
This is such a good idea for a series it’s nice to get ur fresh thoughts throughout the book! I also hated this book 😂 I read the second book and I think I liked it slightly more I’d def want to ur hear thoughts on it 😊
Such an awesome idea!! I’d say read Three Dark Crowns instead of Throne of Glass if you haven’t. Or Maybe the Ember in the Ashes series😊💗
this series is so white, cis, straight and cliché for me. the plot is okay till book 3, after this one is kinda messy, the characters change abruptly to serve the plot and keep the story going. i think the fandom that the author gathered through the years is very loyal to her, they close their eyes to every problematic or sloppy point of the series due to their passion/obsession with the characters/worldbuilding and nostalgia feeling. well, that's my opinion, i loved this series at the beginning, but, fortunately, opened my eyes and used my reason instead of my emotion. :/
Walace Ávila PREACH IT!!
i have loved this series for a while and i am rereading it slowly to read the last 2 books. even tho i liked the books, i absolutely adored this video and i think you are 100% right about the things you say!! i will watch all these types of videos forever hahaha merci cetait vraiment genial comme video jadore tes reactions
Throne of Glass is not that special tbh, but it gets really good when everything start to unfold in the third book!!
It's just a tough sale when you have to tell people they need to slug through 2 whole books before it gets better lol
I shouldn't have to read 2+books for a series to get good or for things to 'start' to unfold. if it takes that long, its because the writer is dragging it out or has a poor editor, imho.
I have the same opinion for The Dark Tower series... that first book was painful lol It's hard to want to continue!
It’s not that they aren’t good, it’s just that they are not that special. I still enjoyed them en wanted to read more, and I’m glad I did ‘cause it got really interesting. The first en third book seem like two entirely different series lol. But everyone there own!
But if you don’t like the third book I would give up haha
The bunny ears headband! 😆 So cute!
I vote stop at book 1. Everything you said I felt about book 1 too and it didn't get better for book 2!
wishesonaeroplanes Celaena was a teenager who was a slave for a year if
I’ve only read the first two books but the second one does get better!
Yes! Her character changes so much. Really all of them change so much and so many new characters are introduced.
I'd love to see your thoughts on this series! I really disliked books 1 & 2 but ended up loving the rest. It gets better but Celaena is annoying frustrating throughout the series lol
POST THE VLOG ALREADY, PLEASE. I WANNA SEE YOUR REACTION READING THIS BOOK. I'M TOO EXCITED AND I HOPE THERE'S GONNA BE A LOT OF TEA.
Loving the salt, I’m all for you keeping reading for more salt and tea! 😊😂
This video make me love you even more. Your eyes are very expressive, it is very hilarious. Loved watching your reaction to thr book 💜
I would love for you to continue the series because i would like to hear your thoughts about it.
I am now at book 4 and so far the 3rd one was the best and i really enjoyed it 😁. Some things that you disliked (and you were right) will definitely get better 😃
Maybe if you continue, it will help me decide if I should attempt the series further also 😂
i really think you should continue with the series, if you really enjoyed ACOMAF i think you'll love book 3, 6 and 7. those books are all about character growth and you really see Celeana change, and grow.
Keep reading! I feel like books two, three and four are sooo much better (haven't read the other ones yet myself haha)
Oh, I got so excited for a video to see that it's just advertised. :(
Kim E same
Don't continue it's a waste of time
I'm nervous about this, because I found the book entertaining and I'm like OMG WAS SHE ENTERTAINED? WILL SHE HATE IT? This premiere is worth watching live 😱

@@BookswithEmilyFox I appreciate the fact that you saved the grumpy cat after the video premiered! hahahaha
LOVED this vlog, so sincere aaaa
Yes please continue!
Idk I'm just not understanding her at all right now :/
I love you so much - this video was so good please continue 😍❤️😘
I don't know why everyone hates it so much I personally loved this series
I will definitely watch you reading the second book😂😂 this was so much fun even though I actually liked throne of glass.
the eye thing is rlly important later on, and i feel like i’m the only one who’s in love with this series 😅
Your chapter 11 reaction. 🤣 Looking forward to more of these vlogs.
I actually liked this series. I'm on the 3rd book now. It's fun ♡
I'm not finished with the series yet, but I think The Assassin's Blade (the prequel) is way better than the first couple of books. Maybe read that and see if you like it better.
Yes continue!!
