I've got exactly 4 weeks to a 3 day riding trip in the Tweed Valley. And haven't ridden for over a month 🤦🤦
Perfect timing this video 😂 Better get to it! 💪🥵

Been training 6 mo for 3 days of trans BC. HR still spikes into 160-170's on anything more than a moderate climb. Been doing all of these things - strength, long rides, intervals, resting, lots of protein... not sure where I'm going wrong. It's encouraging to hear that I can still make gains this last month before the race!
It's a little discouraging as a female mountain biker when content is so clearly bro-focused, though. Clearly there's no ill intent behind it, just sharing some food for thought.

Hey Christine that does sound a bit frustrating if you’ve been working hard and ticking all the boxes.
A women’s training video is on my to do list. Promise 👍🏻

Not been on my bike since last October and need to regain some kind of fitness for my Scottish Forest rides in September work and work shifts have jumped in the way of motivating me back onto the saddle. I am starting again tomorrow and im 57 do you think there is hope ? Thanks for the video

There is always hope, when you apply the basics and remain consistent! Also, it is a longer term project, but you might be interested in my Over 40s MTB Programme: thestrengthfactory.uk/programmes/the-over-40s-mtb-programme/
Let me know if you have any questions. Ben

I hope pumptrack riding counts as interval training 😇

@@thestrengthfactory. Bike race in less than two weeks! Do you recommend a total break from exercise prior to the race and if so, how many days before?

The fitter you are the more you should do on race week. If you are barely going to survive the event, then total rest is best. Most people fall somewhere in the middle, and a small dose of high intensity riding a few days before will prime you but not tire you out. Ben

@@thestrengthfactory. I'm in decent shape and it's a point to point 35km race so certainly not a multi stage enduro! I'll get a ride in a few days before at my local trail then rest (and stretch!). Thanks Ben!
