@@AJ_Brimson hey AJ, like when I ride the e bike it means you may have to exaggerate your technique a bit more but the heavier bike will be more confident inspiring to lean off! The gym also helps too definitely 🙌🏻
A lot of people think it looks stylish. Plus moving the bike around makes a jump feel even more fun. There's loads of elite riders say they are super addicted to whips because they feel incredible.
Actually this technique is invented from motorcross or dirtbike riding into mtb and it helps to maintain speed on drops. So its not actually pointless, its helps to maintain speed. It was first done by legend James Stewart. This days people do it alot for style points, but in reality done correctly it makes complete the jump, but bring the wheels to the ground after the jump faster than if you would just jump straight. This helps to maintain speed, due to the angle of the wheels landing you drop less speed upon contact and your wheels get to the ground faster making you go more distance at less time. People in high level competition do this all the time like say redbull hardline. Its actually called bubba scrub rather than tailwhip
Thank you so much! Been struggling with whips for 3 years, hopefully this will help me :)
No worries! Good luck and let me know how you get on 🙌🏻

Why do people do this? It always looks (to me) like a stupid and pointless thing to do.
