Well said, the sister has no real excuse to be an oversized brat (all we have is her word but no proof either), she'd graduated and about to become a career woman who makes her own money, she can't be bothered by such pathetic grudges over insignificant things.
@@KittenUndercover Nah, they're all actually named Opie, like The Mayberry Kid and Opie And Ant'ny. Seriously. It's in The Reddit Bylaws or something... 😂
But how was OP treated during these events compared to the sister? There is a lot of information missing. Like the family dynamics after the divorce. We read all the time about half siblings and stepparents. So if OP is the golden child that would change the story.
Kids beauty pageants should be criminalized.. It's disgusting to do to kids, and then all the sickos who watch them . SouthPark had a perfect episode about it once ..😂😂😂
Story 1: Sad truly, cousin burned last bridge he has with family. And that "bridge" truly cared about him. Sad because i think it's not even nephew fault, he's just product of neglect and abandoment. Let's be honest, how much discipline could OP insist on him, when she's only 5 years older and nephew's parents/grandparent didnt do a shit?
Wtf did I just read? Her family is literally like _“you have to support him fully AND let him go into your room and rob you of your cash whenever he wants to, or we won’t talk to you”._ At that point, they clearly don’t love or respect you in the slightest, if that’s how they think you should be treated, they aren’t even worth having in your life…
Because he's so young, you see. Of course when OP was his age (and many years younger) she was old enough to "raise" a kid just five years younger than her. So nephew was allowed to be a child, but OP was not. Nephew is not the only thief in this story.
"I want a weekend car!" Code for, I need to show off sitting in a car I don't need and can't afford so that others envy me. Someone has an ego bigger than his wallet can hold. What a putz!
Story 2: Financial issues are a relationship destroyer and that man is the walking debt people like that are hard to save and it could come back to bite you.
Exactly! He only got the car believing that OP will subsidize the rest of his bills. Also betting he wanted to take OPs car to and from work or OP drive him since his Corvette would be impractical
The sister story it feels as if the OP’s sister is harboring resentment because of their parent’s divorce and is looking for an outlet for that anger and is putting it on the outcome of his second relationship (OP)
Yeah, that's what I got from it too. I mean come on an ex preferring a minor over someone his age yet the sister claims it's OP's FAULT?! Methinks someone's brain IS scrambled and it wasn't entirely OP.
That's undoubtedly part of it, but most of it is likely that OP is beautiful and the sister isn't. That sounds petty, but you'd be surprised how much discord and hatred that dynamic can brew. Teens girls already feel judged and competitive with other girls as it is, but having the beautiful, popular girl in your house, sharing your blood, and seeing first hand how different she's treated than you tends to cause complexes and mental health issues. I've known a couple sets of sisters in real life where the 'ugly' one had a pronounced hatred for the pretty one, and in one instance it led to one of them being put in jail.
I get the feeling that the sister constantly took a back seat and was overlooked because op was getting all the attention because she was The Golden Child and the pretty one.
Story 3....EXCUSE ME! That sleazy ex confessed he'd gladly date underage OP; yet the sister claims it's OP's FAULT 100%?! WTELF?! NTA Methinks someone's brain IS scrambled and it wasn't entirely OP. Regardless, Sister has no real excuse to be an oversized brat (all we have is her word but no proof either), she'd graduated and about to become a career woman who makes her own money, she can't be bothered by such pathetic grudges over insignificant things. Especially if that's how she's going to mistreat possible patients which could cost her medical license.
Don't forget that OP only told what makes her look good. She said nothing about her sister other than she likes to read. Either she knows nothing else about the sister or there is nothing in their relationship that makes OP look good. There is a lot of missing information here.
I think OP's mom is a bit of an AH for calling her step daughter a "bitch". Definitely gives evil step mother who cheated with OP's dad on the ex wife vibes
Story 3: It sounds like other people gave OP attention for activities that her mom got her into and the sister blames OP for that, including the sleezy boyfriend who told the sister he would rather date OP who was a minor.
@@uNkrEaTIvArTs Yeah, specially if there was fire there to begin with (like the resentment for the younger sister to be prettier and the older not being as much),even so if that's on the family,if her younger sister never insulted her older sister (actually looks like she looks up to her bc she is smart),then the sister is a AH for dumping her personal issues on someone who never actually had something on her
"You steal from me. You refuse to pay rent. You tried to kick me out of my own home. *Get the fuck out.* I'm calling the police on you if you come back." "Not my kid, not my fucking problem. Deal with YOUR kid for once."
Story 2: It's your business if he's living off you because he's always broke. 70,000 a year and he's asking you to pay the rent because he can't even set aside for monthly payments? Screw that, I wouldn't live with someone like that.
I had horrible money management as an 18yr old, because my mom was also bad with money . We got evicted from our house when I was 15,and then she started taking credit with mine&my sisters name, so our credit were spoiled before I turned 19.. it was a horrible start to life . Now I'm better off, but worked my butt off, to have what we have now, well my husband helped me also . I'll always be grateful that my husband didn't mind that my credit was messed up and I had poor money management.. He's helped me so much, and now I can even save . I had undiagnosed adhd, and it's one bad thing to have, when you try to adult, without an diagnosis..
Nor would I have someone like that as a boyfriend. Frankly, the first time she paid his rent and he took too long to pay her back was a huge red flag. And the second time it happened would have been a deal breaker for me. Once could be an anomaly. Twice is the beginning of a pattern.
Story 1: Maybe this is a blessing in disguise, these people forced you to be a parent at 5. He's not even your brother, you gave your sidling a break. It's not your fault for thinking he wouldn't treat you like crap, and everyone else is just going to have to take care of him, for once.
And good luck with the relatives when they blame OP for how nephew turned out. Side not, how sexist was it that they parentified OP when she had brothers who could’ve looked after the nephew.
@@lorilancaster5917 if you’ll notice I use it rather than emojis a lot. Didn’t mean to be yelling. In fact, listing all he owed probably has some advantages (no punctuation)
The edit tells me everything I need to know on "the ugly sister", you broke up my parents, and especially the comment with her ex would have dated op. This woman grew up hating her beauty obsessed stepmother and her affair baby halfsister. Its telling she was more upset her boyfriend thought op was pretty than that he was lowkey creeping on a minor. What she needs is alot of therapy, taking it out on op isnt the answer.
If I've said it once, I'll say it a million times: Do not combine your finances with someone you already know cannot handle money! That includes signing a lease. You've already bailed him out for rent twice, and covered his share of the security deposit. There is a reason his landlord wants him out. Take a lesson while it's still cheap - this will continue to be an expensive relationship, and you're the ATM.
The real reason the boyfriend is pissed because he got the car (likely on the loan application too) based on what he thought he was going to be paying rent. At best he'll find some way to scrape by on the payments. The more likely possibility he sells the car for a loss and eats that. The worst case is either the car will get repoed when he can't make payments or worse yet the loan issuer gets wind his loan application was falsified. Then he'll really be in hot water.
@@halbouma6720 You mean, he didn't consider his ACTUAL financial situation, just the one he thought he might be able to trick her into? If he needs her to pay his rent (twice), he cannot afford a second car. Full stop. He can be as pissed as he wants... at himself.
Story 1 - What in god’s green earth is wrong with OP’s family? Who expects another child to be in charge of a child only five years their junior just because the older child is the child’s aunt/uncle. OP needs some therapy to unlearn what her family did to her, the fact she felt so responsible to help him because she raised him is horrible! I feel for her, I hope she never gets back in contact with her family, they’re all terrible for allowing this to happen.
MY heart bled for the first OP and the update made me very happy. And second OP was just as good, a young woman, who makes smart choices. Even if the 3rd OP was an affair baby, she would not be responsible for the divorce. I don't get why people are so fixated on looks btw. Story 4: If you get with someone that has a child with an ex, that ex will hopefully be in their life for a good while. If you cannot deal with that, look for soemone childless. OP and her ex are completely normal in my world GF and reddit are weird about exes!
NTA in the third story and people need to quit throwing around the term "golden child". Just because parents treat different children differently doesn't mean one is the golden child and the other isn't. The sister just sounds jealous of the attention.
Agreed. I think “golden vs scapegoat child” is based and valid but has been overused so much that some people throw it around the second two siblings are having a disagreement. Run-of-the-mill internet at its finest 🙄
@@rebelks88he’s definitely screaming, “ I want people to think I’m a big shot even though I’m so close to living in my car due to financial irresponsibility!”
Story 2: NTA, your BF is financially irresponsible, you should not even be considering moving in with him. Oh, and it is your business what he is buying, since you were about to be living together and relying on him financially for half the rent.
I think the reason some of us don't get the valedictorian story is because we're from the pre-internet generation. We didn't have websites to study by. We used books. Teachers made up their own tests and kept them locked away until test time. To get a copy of test questions in advance required some breaking and entering skills or at very least a set of lock picks. Honestly, a teacher buying a test off the internet sounds both stupid and lazy. If it was cut and pasted, that's even worse. It sounds like the teacher is more at fault than the student. If the teacher OP reported the incident to was the one that took a foolish shortcut to make a test, I can guarantee they're throwing the student under the bus to divert blame away from themself.
Exactly. In my time, English teacher gave us a sheet with the words only. We had to study for that and couldn't use it when test time came (which was every Friday). We only had a pen to write down our answers. It was in three phases, spelling (teacher would say the word orally), definition (of the word), and use the word in a sentence. It was up to us to use learning/research skills on our own. When test time came, you either knew it or didn't.
The post internet and pre internet both have ways of getting the test copy 'ahead' of time. And it is the same method, just post -internet the sample size is higher and the information is searchable online. that method is acquiring previous iterations of the test from previous students. even had a professor tell us, the class, that he expects us to have them
Pre- internet and I understood exactly what she was doing. The friend used the tools available for studying. If the teach actually was getting test from an unsecured website that anyone could access that's their fault. If they just copy n paste the questions that's also the teacher's fault for not doing their job.
No doubt the teacher is trying to pass the buck. However if the girls parents are smart this will end up dismissed because the girl literally did nothing wrong.
On the other hand... If the URL *was* the teacher's alone, and the girl was accessing it *without permission,* it's *the same* as breaking into the teacher's desk drawer, and she *should* get an 'integrity warning'. *That* necessary info wasn't included in OP's post.
I can't help but wonder if "ugly sister" ever had anyone in her family celebrate any of her achievements. That much hostility doesn't come from nowhere. I would love to hear the other side of the story.
If he was able to kick her out of her own apartment how was he going to pay rent? He never paid her the rent he was supposed to pay. And the OP never said he had a job. So how was he going to pay the entire rent when he wasn’t even paying her his half?
Sister in the model story sounds extremely jealous and can’t let go of her years of jealousy. She needs serious therapy. And that nephew in the first story, well that just goes to show that even if you raise kids with love and support they can still come out badly.
IKR? My sisters, cousins and I were never the runway models types either but we never took it out on our older cousins! We all had different hobbies and interests, the most they did was insist my twin sister and I be chatterboxes about bizarre topics at family gatherings.
@Digitalfairy I'm the ugly cousin, and it sucks. I get why OP'S sister dislikes her. I avoid my cousins. I'm the only one in 9 on one side, not to be married. I know at least two of my cousins were engaged twice. It does hurt, despite it being illogical and me having no interest in their husbands.
Sounds like the bitter sister has been in the shadows of Barbie OP her entire life and she's done with it. OP has always been the center of attention and she accepts this as her due.
Last story- i wouldn't have said anything, but the school obviously thought it was cheating or Jamie wouldn't have gotten into trouble. I personally don't think utilizing the internet to study is cheating unless its one of those sites that sells tests.
With the actions the school is taking I would say it was. I'm guessing this friend is a queen bee, and she just got caught. Ohh boo hoo! Good on OP for being honest and caring about integrity.
I'm betting the boyfriend lied about the cost of the car, and it actually cost more than what he told his girlfriend. He probably down played the cost to try to give a number to the girlfriend while trying not to further anger her by telling her the real cost.
@@StacyPrice-ms9fm Considering he's paying $800 a month for it... That would be about $57000, assuming a six-year loan, though that's not taking into account interest.
Being beautiful isn’t a crime, being a jealous bish about it IS. My sister was the beauty, and yes- it comes with perks: but it also comes with some huge problems. I’m happier being “merely pretty” and not having to deal with the bullshite. And she got fat. 😹
Story 3 - Why the ESH comment? Older sister is the golden child. Graduated med school and you know the parents paid for the many years of education. OP needs to go NC with the jealous witch.
Yeah and the Sister is to become a career woman in the medical field who makes her own money, she can't be bothered by such pathetic grudges over insignificant things. Especially if that's how she's going to mistreat possible patients.
Story 1: Lmao the update, the family refuses to take him (wonder why? he only tried kicking OP out of their own house, what a keeper (sarcasm)), but demand the OP take them back.
@@lorilancaster5917 I was thinking along those lines, too. If the other cousins are siding with OP, then I have no doubt they also think dear nephew is a waste of space.
as someone who owns five cars, i also own a 7 car garage with two lifts that is paid in full, as are all of the cars. i make multiple times 70k a year too lmao.
Story 3: Can a woman who’s acting like an AH be totally responsible for their actions without someone from reddit blaming a man somehow? It’s entirely possible that the dad treated them exactly the same and she just had unreasonable insecurities LIKE the ones she built up with her sister.
Last Story; if she cheated, she doesn’t deserve Validictorian, if the teacher is lazy, I’d say sue the school for not getting my money’s worth and SERIOUSLY question the hiring process…
@@davidrooks3274 It is just studying. My teacher gave me test to study from and were the very same questions on the test I took later. Unless she had the answer's written down or the laptop with her, its not cheating. What do they think books are for? They do the same damn thing. Just one is digital and the other is not.
She wasn't cheating, she was studying. Can't you tell the difference ? Cheating would mean looking up the answers on the website during the test, not using the website to study before tests. .
I love that OP is terrible for kicking the cousin out and not letting him live with her (and rob her), _however_ neither her mom or aunt will let him live with them… Lol.
Last story, spelling test. If your friend had illegally hacked into your teacher's computer to get the test, then yes she is in the wrong. However, from your description your friend did some research, found a spelling test website and used that for revision, in which case, she didn't do anything wrong, the teacher shouldn't have used material readily available on the Internet to all and sundry, including their own pupils.
It Seems To Me (from The Telling Of It) OP Thought Janie MIGHT Have Been Cheating (From What She Happened Upon) And Shared Her Suspicions With The Teacher. It Was The Teacher, The Same One Who Seems To Have Used THAT Very Test To Make Their Test, Who Turned It Into The Witch Hunt. OP Didn't Set Out To Spy, She Simply Saw Something She Found Questionable And Took A Picture For Evidence Which She Later Saw Alleged Confirmation Of Wrongdoing. Calling OP A Narc For Doing What EVERY Good Citizen Should Do Is Just Wrong! The Decision To Appoint Or Take Away The Position Of Valedictorian Is Strictly Up To The School Board And The Teachers Of Said Student. OP Did What She Thought Was Right. If The Board And The Teacher Decided She Was Right Then It's NOT OP's Fault. All These OP's TA Judgements Come From People Who Probably Had It MUCH To Easy, WE DIDN'T HAVE THE INTERNET WHEN I WAS IN SCHOOL, OUR VALEDICTORIANS CRACKED BOOKS NOT THEIR KEYBOARDS! Hell! I Was In My 20's When Commodore's Were Invented. And They Couldn't Do A 10th Of What PC's Do Today. Not Even Close. NTA But Maybe Talking To Janie Was An Option She Should Have Tried And THEN Put It Before The School Board To Make The Decision One Way Or The Other. JMO
Story 3: Literally EVERY argument this brat of a sister has boils down to “how is that Op’s fault…?” Sister isnt cooking Op an extra meal. Sisters creepy Ex wanted to get with Op (when she was a minor) Op is pretty…sorry thats life. Op is NTA and her sister sounds like a jealous brat.
I know it's hard when that's all you ever knew in your life, but we need to teach more people that it's not a bad thing to cut off relationships with people that abuse you or are completely okay with watching while you're abused. Stories like the first one just make me sad.
1st story: Nta what's getting me mad is that your nephew is acting like he owns the place even though he lives their rent free. And he got the nerve to tell you that he's gonna kick you out of your own house that you paid for and put under your name.
Sounds like alot of commenters told on themselves, it sounded like OP had genuine concern about the test but the armchair sleuths seem to assume a vast conspiracy is afoot.
I felt like the YTA commenters missed that. I don’t think OP is an AH and hopefully she can make it through until graduation and likely never see these people again.
THIS SO MUCH THIS. ESH. Op clearly was en route to sabotage on purpose, and this girl gave her all the ammo to do it. Second place girl gets to walk away Scott free with plausible deniabiliylty too, so OP also gets a dunce cap.
But 1st it’s not set in stone and 2nd academic integrity is usually plagiarism as there is obviously no plagiarism here it means they are upset the student was studying from a site they were taking tests from. There would have been lots of tests but a lazy teacher didn’t even take separate questions just a test. Also she would have needed to still learn the subject matter. I wonder how many others were looking at the same site just not learning it so well.
Op be will either have to accept that you have to research to learn things or never have a job because when she is asked what she knows about the comps he will have to say nothing because that would be cheating.
@@Dilligaf-m7s whets the difference betqeen using this program and studying with notes? as long as she wasn't using it DURING the tests it's not cheating
Last story - When I was in school I was just a middle of the road student but my very good friend was at the top of our class along with a girl that I was also friends with, she was a really nice girl she was another friends GF at 1 point,. As time went on both of these people (children really) started to have mental issues and it came out that both of their parents would get mad at their child if their academic rival beat them in a test, it drove the girl into anorexia and the boy in a mental hospital for a while. They were never again the happy people they were before their parents ruined them.
Story 1: NTA, but op wasn’t supposed to raise him at all. Her useless sister should’ve been raising him properly. It’s time for op to go NC with the family members trying to force her to be a doormat again. Story 2; NTA for cancelling, but YTA to yourself for being with him. and op needs to break up with him. He’s irresponsible with money and his “business” will affect her. Story 3: NTA. Older sister is taking it out on the wrong person. Story 4: NTA and why did the gf get into a relationship with a man who had a baby from a previous relationship. JUST DATE SOMEONE WITH NO KIDS IF YOU DON’T WANT TO DEAL WITH THE EX. As for the boyfriend, he should’ve invited op in the first place.
Which I’m glad she gave an update which she will go NC. I also think she should reimburse herself with his belongings and when confronted ask him what happened to her money? I really hope OP got out of the relationship before he dragged her down his rabbit hole. How much would you bet that if they moved in together, he would want to borrow OPs car or she take him to work since his Corvette is a “weekend car”? Sister is definitely projecting and along with taking it out on the wrong people, she picked the worse time and place to have her passive aggressive bs confrontation. She’s just vilified herself. There were AHs in the story but OP wasn’t one of them. Ex should’ve not invited his daughter nor OP if he didn’t want to keep an eye on his kid. His gf, now ex, got mad at OP for dancing with her toddler daughter and not at her bf for inviting his ex.
Story with the ex and child at the birthday party. I come from a family like this. My parents spilt up when I was an infant and my dad has been with my stepmom since I was 1. I’m 40 now and they all still get along amazingly. Everyone goes to holiday and birthday together. My mom was included in my brother’s (dad and stepmoms son) family wedding photo. I’ve never met another family like this but I am so grateful to be one of the ones who gets to live it. What this couple is doing isn’t wrong at all. The girl friends insecurities is the real problem here which isn’t actually her fault. So no one is the idiot in my opinion.
Bookish sister is jealous of mums obsession with op and looks. But op is not to blame for that. Yes she might not have felt noticed or respected for her achievements while op was praised for getting lucky with her looks. But sister is blaming you for what ex and mum did. You did not do anything wrong, and sister was nasty and spoiled the occasion.
The last story: I hate that nonsense. How is studying an old test cheating? The test is designed to check if you have learned and retained the material. Who cares if you learned them by studying other people’s work? Thats literally what text books are. I had a college professor who tried to fail an entire class because they got ahold of his old tests, and used them to study. Turns out he hasn’t changed his test in nearly 10 years and rotated between the same set of two tests for years. The department chair laughed in his face and told him it was his fault for being lazy and never changing the tests.
Story one I lived in San Francisco and I met a guy from high school who was a big guy and he asked me to stay in my place for a night or two and I said okay then when it came time to leave he wouldn't leave, he said he was going to squat here and I said no you better leave he said make me so I went in my bedroom and I got my toy I came on and I pointed in his face and I said leave now or you'll never leave as far as I know you're a home invader, he left after giving me a mean look and some threats and I said yeah come on back and see what happens it's been 25 years and I've never seen him again LOL
As a former rural carrier, I needed another car for the job because doing the job wears down vehicles fast and i wasnt going to use my everyday car. Of course, i got a beater car that could take the abuse and was cheap. Buying a corvette just for the weekend shows his financial irresponsibility.
Story 3: OP is NTA, but it's clear that something happened while growing up. Her sister is TA in how she's directing her anger at OP who apparently didn't do anything wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out that she was neglected in favor of OC (not saying that this happened, nor that justifies the sister's treatment of OP). Her mom is an even bigger TA for taking her to beauty contests in the first place.
2 - Your dummy boyfriend can live in his cars if he wanted one that much. You're not being left on the hook for his crappy spending. You should leave him too. NTA, YTA if you stay. He sucks and he's irresponsible.
the last story if she wasn't using Vocab DURING the test then it was a smart way to study, what's the difference between using that and studieg with notes?
"Since you're my aunt and older, you have to take care of me." Such b.s. To hell with your family OP. Take care of yourself and let your sister take care of her own son. NTA. S2. Wow, do you realize how much he pays for insurance. I'm sure it is no less than $300 a month. He is ridiculous. He got the car thinking that you would cover the rent. NTA. And leave him. S3. How dare OP be friendly and civil to the father of her baby. Doesn't she know that they are supposed to be enemies. The child is a toddler and asked OP there to watch his daughter. Jealousy is ridiculous. I'm so tired of this, don't narc, mentality.
Third story: As the over-educated, bookaholic nerd, I am in support of OP. OP is the product of her environment. I grew up in the shadow of my much, much more attractive sister so I understand that feeling of jealousy and inadequacy. Your older sister is jealous and needs therapy to deal with it. Unless you're not telling us huge parts where you are displaying main character syndrome, your sister is a b.
Op not his mum or grandparent why should op support this over grown child honestly sounds like op is only grown up in whole family kick him out , kick family a out of you’re life
Story 1: NTA, you are his aunt, you are not financially responsible for him. You also should not have been parentified the way your were when you were younger, sadly it seems you internalized that and need some therapy to brake yourself out of it. If he doesn't want to pay his way, he can move back in with his parents.
Pretty/Ugly Sister Story: NTA, but your sister isn't wrong. You better learn some skills because beauty doesn't last and then your income will dry up. You need to be prepared for when your looks fail, and you can no longer model. Then you will need to get a regular job unless you have tons of money saved up before then.
There are 350, million people in United States alone. Why would she let her nephew move in with her? After all the crap he and her family put her through? For the love of God, OP, by the therapist, learn how to set boundaries! I’ve had to bail him out twice on rent. She needs to read that back to herself and realize what a massive red flag that is. If she stay with this guy, eventually, he is going to drag her down financially.NTA 100%
Story 1: I deeply hope OP gets some counseling to realize how horribly her family has treated her by parentifying her in making her raise her nephew. OP didn't 'fail' in raising this loser. His PARENTS did. OP is doing the right thing in going no contact with the ones giving her a hard time. She's not at fault for raising a spoiled brat. His mother is. OP deserves a peaceful, joyous life with these toxic family members.
It's funny as hell all the comments from Reddit talking about the girl was just studying yet if it was just studying the school would not possibly be bringing disciplinary action against her.
The school is saying that now until they realize the teacher goofed. He pulled his test from a free website that anyone can access. He chose not to alter or modify any of the questions. How is she cheating? She looked up something online and found somewhere she can practice. The only blame here is in the lazy teacher.
Last story: Q: Why does everyone hate me? A: You tattled on your friend without talking to her first. Duh. You have no idea what those samples are you found, but went running to the teacher about it. That's a big no no for student code. Even if she was 100% sure she was cheating, she still should have told her friend either to do the right thing or she'll tell the school. But that wasn't the case here - it wasn't an exact copy of the test.
Story 1: I had to re-read this story because i was wondering where the nephews mom was, i swear i thought she was dead until i heard that she is telling OP to take the nephew back. Damn, not even his own mom wants him? Tell your sister to stop complaining and to take care of her own son, he shouldn't have been your responsability in the first place! You were a five year old raising a baby for goodness sake! Tell her to be a mother and take him in. And don't feel bad for how this kid turned out, is not your fault, you were five, there is no way that a five year old could have any authority over another child, specialy if your mom and sister never did anything to correct him.
Last sttory. Before the electronic age we used to work off any old exam papers we could find. Somewhere along the line one of smart kids that worked through many old paper realized that their teacher reused papers every couple of years. They sort of worked out which paper we were most likely to get and told their friends. The class average was quite a bit higher than usual, but the school could not do anything as once the papers are handed out they are in the public domain and the school has no more say over it. The kidsthat did better where mostly the high achievers in any case.
Last story: I've never heard the phrase "dime out your friends" before. Now I'm curious as to how a coin connected to a product that vanished the moment cell phones became prevalent has come to mean snitching.
It was always considered snitching, the lack of pay phones doesn’t mean the terminology changes. To be fair pay phones are still around they are just very few and far in between to find one. To be clear dropping a dime was created during the height of pay phones and was always prevalent terminology for snitching. This isn’t a new thing.
@@bautistalover Oh I know the phrase "dropping a dime", but I just never heard of that particular iteration previously. Shoot, I remember when pay phones were a nickel, before they went up in the early 90s to a dime.

And jokes aren’t usually followed by the “jokester” crying and calling themselves the ugly kid even thought no one has ever insulted their appearance.

In all fairness, that’s on OPs mom and not OP. But still ick!
But how was OP treated during these events compared to the sister? There is a lot of information missing. Like the family dynamics after the divorce. We read all the time about half siblings and stepparents. So if OP is the golden child that would change the story.

Yeah, she’s not his aunt she’s his cousin. So why is she having to raise him and everything?
Op sounds soft and may let him come back
Story 1: Sad truly, cousin burned last bridge he has with family.

Right? It sounds like he thought he could get his cake and eat it too.
he just wanted to move in so he had someone to pay the bills while he could spend his money as he pleases

WTELF?!

I had horrible money management as an 18yr old, because my mom was also bad with money . We got evicted from our house when I was 15,and then she started taking credit with mine&my sisters name, so our credit were spoiled before I turned 19.. it was a horrible start to life .

Corvette story- OP, tell your EX to go home and live with mommy and daddy if he's going to act like a baby!

Story 3: NTA, you did literally nothing wrong (assuming you didn't leave something huge out), your sister is just a jealous and cruel person.
2 - Your dummy boyfriend can live in his cars if he wanted one that much. You're not being left on the hook for his crappy spending. You should leave him too. NTA, YTA if you stay. He sucks and he's irresponsible.
Op wouldn’t be the butthole no matter what you big grouch
the last story if she wasn't using Vocab DURING the test then it was a smart way to study, what's the difference between using that and studieg with notes?
Depends on the set-up of the test. If the test was leaked exactly and not the teacher releasing it it is straight up cheating
If it had "all" the test questions it's a cheat sheet. Pretty sure that falls under plagiarism too.
@@vampire9545that’s not a cheat sheet, that’s the teacher being lazy and not changing up the test they got from a website accessible to everyone.
@@vampire9545 NOT if they didn't use it DURING the test
Or if she used a site the school or teacher specifically told them they cannot use. Which would also be honor code violation.
How is it a weekend car if he traded in his weekday car to get it?
I’m guessing he plans on OPs car becoming his weekday car
1. He is a thief and a mooch.
Story 3- NtA. The Op did nothing to the sister and the sister seeths of resentments and jealousy. OP should go NC
Corvette story: his is no a man he is a overgrown child.
Lol. I wonder if the first OP's family is Portuguese. Feels a lot like the same BS as my family.
Story 2: NTA. Insults are not jokes.
S1: OP is a doormat if she doesn't file a police report.
Last story: I'm so confused, is this a standardised test they were doing where you can find previous tests online to practice from?
It's funny as hell all the comments from Reddit talking about the girl was just studying yet if it was just studying the school would not possibly be bringing disciplinary action against her.
The school is saying that now until they realize the teacher goofed. He pulled his test from a free website that anyone can access. He chose not to alter or modify any of the questions. How is she cheating? She looked up something online and found somewhere she can practice. The only blame here is in the lazy teacher.
Bingo
Last story: Q: Why does everyone hate me? A: You tattled on your friend without talking to her first. Duh. You have no idea what those samples are you found, but went running to the teacher about it. That's a big no no for student code. Even if she was 100% sure she was cheating, she still should have told her friend either to do the right thing or she'll tell the school. But that wasn't the case here - it wasn't an exact copy of the test.
Looking up past exams paper is not cheating. Some institutions sell past papers booklets.
most of the family is mad at first OP?? good, that means he has plenty of places he can move to
Story 1: I had to re-read this story because i was wondering where the nephews mom was, i swear i thought she was dead until i heard that she is telling OP to take the nephew back.
Id not only kick it out but id get it setup to be taught a crude lesson! Id get them all setup actually.
20 yo, support himself or go to jail or join the military, his choices
Last sttory. Before the electronic age we used to work off any old exam papers we could find. Somewhere along the line one of smart kids that worked through many old paper realized that their teacher reused papers every couple of years. They sort of worked out which paper we were most likely to get and told their friends. The class average was quite a bit higher than usual, but the school could not do anything as once the papers are handed out they are in the public domain and the school has no more say over it. The kidsthat did better where mostly the high achievers in any case.
WTH answers to a test online is cheating...
@@bautistalover Perhaps, but for me it is. Then again, I've heard other phrases that I needed my daughter to explain to me as well.
@@GeorgieB1965 gotcha the phrase was coined I believe in the 70s because a dime was what it took to make a basic phone call
@@bautistalover Oh I know the phrase "dropping a dime", but I just never heard of that particular iteration previously. Shoot, I remember when pay phones were a nickel, before they went up in the early 90s to a dime.
@@GeorgieB1965 lol. When I was in high school 2002 it was .25. Had to call my mom because I missed the bus.
Last story: It really depends. On its face seems like the student was studying, but if it was during the tests then its cheating
Story 2: If he likes the car so much he can sleep in it.
Don't give him money or grocery
Can we please get over the “you’re an idiot to yourself”?? That’s not what OP is asking about.
S2. WHy DOeS hE nEeD anOtHEr CAr! 😂. You either get it of you don’t. You obviously don’t, and that’s perfectly fine 😂 But, if you can’t pay your rent, you _can’t afford_ a weekend driver.
S1: nta
S2: esh, OP was being an ass to herself for dating this guy who is irresponsible with money. The (now) ex is an idiot for depending on OP to pay for his rent after buying a $44k car that he didn't need. Reality needs to him.
