Thanks for the easy to understand method. You must be a teacher. I have made maybe a couple of dozen since I found your video. A teenager at church said, "I love your scarf". So I took it off and gave it to her. I give them for gifts and have at least 7 that I use to add a pop of color to a plain shirt or dress. I even buy crazy print dresses at thrift stores and cut them up to make the 14x60 strip of material needed. I love these so much. Thanks again.
GREAT job on this scarf!!!! you are very knowledgeable on the Mobius strip turn. It was an eye opener on how to sew it and use it as a neck scarf. Here in South Florida the weather is kind of hot most of the time....a scarf for your neck comes handy for when is windy ..I am not a scarf wearer, buy this one I will surely make. Thanks you for letting us know how to sew it. Thanks a million, Josefina Mccarty
Great tutorial!!! I just finished my first mumbius scarf-- on Christmas Eve. I need a couple of last minute gifts and this is the ticket. I have one more to go. Thanks so much!!!!
+Annie Prepper That's great, Annie! I hope they all turned out beautifully and I know that the recipients will appreciate the work & thought you put into them! Thank you for your comment.
Thank you, Maxie. I spent hours looking for a good tutorial on this scarf and your method is the best. And easiest! I have trouble stitching a straight line, but these are so easy they will be my Christmas gifts to friends this year. Much appreciated!
Great tutorial. One thing I did not quite understand, when you match the ends for the final stitching, do you match the long side to the opposite side,. When I tried, my seams was on opposite side.
I have made these for gifts and have made extra to sell. I noticed that ladies are more interested in fabrics that showcase their interests or favorite color combinations.
I made one today with gray minky. It's little too thick for me. What is the fabric called when you made it? I like something soft in lightweight. Microfleece will create static so I want to avoid it. Thank you for sharing this video as I enjoyed sewing it.
The fabric I used in the video is Shannon's version of Minkee. It is a little bulkier than other types of fabrics, for sure, so sometimes I cut them a little more narrow when using Minkee. You want to know what my favorite fabric for mobius scarves is? Voile! It is so lightweight that it can be worn fall through spring!
Sorry I'm so late in responding to your comment; I missed seeing it. I've used lighter fabrics like voile, rayon, etc. These fabrics are light enough to wear all day long as an accessory and warm enough under a coat to stay cozy outside. If you use minky you might consider cutting it more narrow so that it isn't bulky.
I love it thank you so much, I am making one with silk (satin) type of material can you tell me if I need a special needle for that type of material. and also can you tell me the size of the scarf you made here? how long and width thanks
+C Cruz For this scarf, I used the full width of 58" fabric, so the circle measured about 55" when finished. I've made different sizes, though, depending on the width of fabric used and they all turn out beautifully. Some are long enough to double around your neck, others are shorter and just lay around the neck and shoulders. If your silk fabric isn't very wide, you can even piece it before you sew it into a mobius. As for the needle for silk, I would use a sharp or microtex needle in a small size, no larger than a size 11, with a fine thread.
What were the dimensions of the scarf around your neck? Cause I want to make a scarf, but just smaller/thinner/shorter scarf for warmer weather and the one around your neck looks perfect! I am thinking jersey material.
Since we began with a 14" cut of Cuddle fabric that is about 58" wide, the finished length of the scarf in the video would be about 55" (a circular measurement) by about 6" wide. If you'd like a larger circle, just seam another length onto the piece before sewing the side seam. Hope this helps!
I use Art Gallery 100% Cotton Voile, so if you google that you'll find several online shops that carry that. Of course, there are others, but Art Gallery's is 60" wide instead of 45". The fleece is from Shannon and is in their "Cuddle" line, which is also 60" wide.
Hi and thanks a million for this great tutorial! I will make a few for sure! This will be great gifts! The music is very good but may I suggest to lower it a little? Have a great day! 😎🌸
1st thought: This was a great tutorial and I'm giving you a thumbs up. These will probably be made as hospital nurse gifts for when my baby is born. 2nd thought: I hate these scarves! OMG I never knew the twist was intentional or that it had a name. I thought they were sewn wrong at the factory. I'm OCD and can't straighten them. Lol! Y'all please tell me I'm not the only one that thinks like this! 🤣
You made my day! I'm visualizing someone fighting with the twist to straighten it out, like a twisted leg in blue jeans! But it's so much better than a regular, straight, run of the mill infinity scarf! Thank you for commenting!
hi just had a look at your video love it but would like to now how wide to have fabric was wondering if you please let us know so we can make some thank lorraine
Thank you! The soft, minkee like fabric is from Shannon and the voile was from Westminster, I believe. That one is no longer available, but I carry lots of voile and minkee in my quilt shop. We'd be happy to help you order, if you like! Give us a call at 828 524-3300 or contact us through our website at www.astitchintimenc.com
You've demonstrated and explained this really well thanks for sharing I'm new here to your community God bless keep looking up bye for now I look forward to hearing from you keep up the great work. Ken
+Danielle Stormborn I used the full width of this particular fabric, which was about 58". You can successfully use any length of fabric, however, the scarf length will be shorter or longer. Longer scarves can be doubled around your neck. You can even sew strips together before you make the scarf, to make your length to suit you.
Love this tute...thanks so much.....however the Music way too loud....had to also turn vol to max....didn't catch clearly what the scarf around your neck was made of...? Otherwise your tutes are WONDERFUL...thanks for your time.....Will call up and do some ordering soon. Ken from Orlando, Fl

Genius! Thank you.
Now I know what to make for Christmas presents. Your video is perfect in explaining what to do. Is velvet a good choice for making this scarf?
Velvet would work very nicely! The sample in the video is Minkee fabric, which is a pile fabric similar to velvet. Thanks for your comment.
How much material did you have to buy to make this scarf makes a great christmas present jo ward
Well, it took 4 videos to find what I was looking for. THANK YOU.
thanks for this tutorial. I like how you cut your opening and completed the circle. I thought your music was great.
Thank you for your kind words. I hope you enjoy making scarves! They do make great gifts!
I have made these for gifts and have made extra to sell. I noticed that ladies are more interested in fabrics that showcase their interests or favorite color combinations.
Lovely, thanks for sharing
Can a hood be added before the long edges are sewn?
Hi. Thanks.Interesting. question: would you not go back and close the opening.
She said she hand stitched the opening closed....
My three year old granddaughter wants a scarf like her mom . How long should it be ?

Beautiful Scarf Tutorial TFS :o)
I almost never cut off the savage edge because its one less edge to zigzag or serge with a fabric that frays. I just sew inside of the salvage.
Can’t I use cotton?i just found this video and you explained it perfectly! Thank you so much.
Where do
I buy the pin holder on your wrist?
Another question please - - what is the width and length of the finished mobius?

maxiemakes Thanks for the information.
Hi there! do you have instructions for a hidden zipper pocket? I would like to make one for travel to carry my phone and wallet.
Where did you find voile? Is voile cotton? Also where did you find your fabric with the fleece only in the design?
I use Art Gallery 100% Cotton Voile, so if you google that you'll find several online shops that carry that. Of course, there are others, but Art Gallery's is 60" wide instead of 45". The fleece is from Shannon and is in their "Cuddle" line, which is also 60" wide.
Thanks great way to make a scarf

JacobsOompa Ken, the scarf around my neck is made of voile! It's a very soft, light weight fabric.
Great tutorial but music comes in loud but had to turn up volume a lot to hear the speaker.
Nice toturial. The music is real loud maybe needs adjusting..
