    I understand what people are saying about the CVT and I know it sounds annoying, I also thought this but I got one for a weekend test, and it's really not that noticeable, what I mean by that is, realistically, you're not going to have your foot flat on the floor all the time so it won't be constantly doing it, and even when you do floor it, for acceleration or overtaking, it's for no longer than maybe what, 10 seconds? 99% of the time you don't even notice, or at least that's just my opinion, Johan made a fantastic video but he was accelerating hard to show us the car and it's capabilities etc, I assume that on a normal day if he was not doing a video he wouldn't drive like that, and I bet you don't either. If the CVT is the only thing stopping you from buying this car, give it a test and see for yourself, it's genuinely not that bad

    FYI this is not a belt driven CVT. Toyota's hybrid CVT's are much different than their gas only CVT's. This CVT uses a rotary planetary gear set with 2 electric motors to put the power down variably. It is technically Continuously Variable but its really just a single final drive gear with electric motors that modulate the output based on their speed and direction. There is no belt like honda/nissan.

      You can blame shitty POS Nissan Jatco garbage for ruining the public's perception of CVTs. They pretty much single handedly ruined it.

    Corolla Hybrid fast 200 ps Verbrauch 5 Liter und das schaffen die Diesel Autos nicht!

    The car sounds very quiet and very comfortable to drive .. if there was a stationwagon or hatchback version it would be a no brained for me. But this plus the fact you can’t have it with a tow bar puts me off .. but other then that great value for its money and in black really nice looking .

    Nice car all the way.. Except for the rpm-madness and waste of energy the CVT-gear costs.. So it is just a no go, no matter what else it offers..

    • @herrv1906
      @herrv1906 5 лет назад +12

      It is hard to believe but it is quite the opposite. When cruising in hybrid vehicles, you either use no energy, a little bit to stabilize the speed or a lot to accelerate. The first two cases should not require the ICE unless the battery is depleted. When accelerating "hard", you need as much power as possible, the CVT holds in that case the RPM at the peak power of the engine for the time of the acceleration. As the power output of a specific engine depends (mostly) on its speed, the faster it rotates, the more power it delivers (until the technical or rev limit). Torque does not matter in the case of naturally aspirated gasoline engine have a torque curve which has a mere 10-15% variation on a 1000-6000 rpm range.
