My wife is an expert at canning I kid you not. She told me to tell you ... you did everything correctly and safely. I bought my wife an All American years ago, and she loves it. Actually, we have 3. You did a great job. Thanks so much for keeping it simple, and correct. Oh, my wife said to tell those who are new to canning to get the "Ball Canning Book". It's like the Bible for canning.
I bought the giant ball canning book off Amazon. Best choice ever. I have been doing all the pressure canning this year and that book is literally what I followed step by step

@@jimmyrants4342 that’s very true, there’s a lot out there on canning. Using that book after watching the videos helps to make sure I’ve got the right time and pressure. I am so glad I came across this post because I am actually planning on going to the bookstore later on today and a canning book is on my list. I was just going to look at them all and figure out which one I was gonna get. But now I think I have at least 3 books from this post. 1. The Ball Canning book 2. The Big Ball Canning book 3. The Giant Ball Canning book. Hopefully I can get my hands on at least one of them.
I remember my mom and grandma canning when I was young. They did another step that I haven't seen you do, and it may have been just something she figured out over time. But the new box of flats or lids as you call them she would put in a pot of hot water on the stove to soften the rubber seal on the lid and take them out one by one with tongs and sit on top of the jar and then spend the ring on. They said the softened rubber seal on the flat with seal much more reliable because it was warmer and flexible and would really sit down good and evenly.

Good video. There are two things, which you did not touch on, which I will here: 1. As the jars cool, you will likely hear the lids move toward the bottom of the jar as the cooling creates a vacuum within. You will hear a little click or tink sound. This is normal and actually something I always look forward to hearing. You don't always hear it, but if you do, just know it's okay. 2. Although the food inside the jars is preserved and could be eaten raw without cooking, I and most other people always cook the stuff before we eat it. If by chance there was any spoilage you did not see or smell when you opened the jar, cooking it gives you a better chance of not getting sick. Always remember to first look at your jar from all sides to see if there are any discolored areas or spots on the contents. Also, sniff it with your nose. If it smells bad, DO NOT EAT IT. Toss it in your compost pile or, if you keep worms, like I do, give them a go at it. It won't hurt them.

Good point ! But we outside working all day! So that’s why I look glossy in some shots- I come in from outside…
My outdoor kitchen is almost set up
@@RiversideHomesteadLife My wife and I were discussing an outdoor kitchen a few months back. What I want to do and what she is thinking is two different things. So we are trying to get it all figured out. Be interesting to see yours.
And glossy? Sweaty maybe, especially after being outside. But that’s all part of the life.
Lots of clips on utube meat in jars on the stovetop, but some say its only safe in a pressure canner? Any advice welcome please..
Controversy - the safer way is with pressure canner. But many still can with water bath method and swear by it- water bath method video in description… ( I will add it)
@@RiversideHomesteadLife thanks, and thanks for the time and energy to make the clips.

You will absolutely love it! much faster and easier than canning.....
@@RiversideHomesteadLife Thank you! Checking on the purchasing now.
I canned my beef stew like you showed but i had some of the fluid from the jars in my canner all sealed so what did i do wrong i canned at right pressure
It’s happened to us too - if seal is good tap test- they are just fine - just a lil pressue leakage - happens sometimes
Ok thanks i was worried they all sealed good
They're not called RIMS!
They're called RINGS!
So, I guess he's not the Lord of the RINGS‼️😆

I live in Spokane and I’m looking for a place to buy some healthy beef. Got any ideas?
Check for Farmer's markets and local farmers who sell direct.
Yes go to farmers markets - and constintly ask people- it’s a word of mouth thing-
Once your in - your in.
I just bought half a beefalow from buddy in IDAHO/ montana boarder - but it was his last….
What’s the approximately serving for each jar.?
2 person
Don't you have to boil the glass jars and lids first?
Before you do your canning?
Make sure your jars are always sanitized and clean!

Great to hear!!
Can you put celery & peas or corn for color would any of these veggies change the safety🤔🤔
Yup totally fine
@@RiversideHomesteadLife could you tell me please if i should throw my tomato juice out i accidently put 1 teaspoon of lemon juice & 1 tsp of salt & later realized i needed 2 tsps of juice do you think it will be ok. Thx much
The Gospel for the New Testament Church is 1 Cor. 15: 1-4 KJV. Rom. 10: 1-21 KJV and Rom. 3: 25 KJV explains it further.
It's what Christ did for us that we're saved and it's by faith alone, not works. We're forgiven for all sins by Christ's shed blood.
are you in riverside california?
i want to learn
I don't eat meat as much as fish. So this one doesn't apply to me but I watched it anyway.
You can....can fish.
@@jimmyrants4342 yeah I didn't know that
Do a clam chowder/ with salmon in it - hmmm maybe my next canning vid- I love fish
Why do you say that you need to peel the potatoes for pressure cooking?
