I have been listening to this band for the last 5 years and I've played in many cover bands, but these guys nail it, and the fun banter back and forth makes them totally entertaining! For years I looked for a good cover of "Go All The Way".........There it is!
The lead singer for this band could have sang with any band in the 1960s or 70s. I'm 70 years old. I know what I'm talking about. I was there. Looks, demeanor, talent and charisma sells. The kid in the orange.

Best version of "Walk Away Renee" is this one ... ruclips.net/video/qiu2CWAGmNg/видео.html It was a massive hit in Asia when it was released back in the early 1990s.
This is Guido from the Sknns- Thanks SO much for ALL the comments! We had a GREAT TIME and it was a really fun band to play in! Three lead singers?!?!? Are you KIDDING ME??? Too much fun! Thanks and Rock on!
I watch this video way too much. My band did Renee also. But to follow with Go all the way is just very adrenaline producing. And those lol feedbacks just add to it!! Would have liked to hear the rhythm and blues sound if “The ya” band 😛
Okay, I've said this before, whenever you have a group that plays thousands of times together and have good rangy vocals, you have the basis of a monster band. The 4skns were that band. Many things got in the way though. The name was the worst, the attitude that prevented them from seeking out or writing original songs to do was a killer. They simply remained a cover band. Every band is a cover band at some point, but, you have to develop your own persona which they didn't have. The way the sang and played with such ease and effortless delivery was amazing, they also played with a good feel. There's so much more, but I just want to be on record for my opinion on a band that could have been great, but they were just content being the best around their part of the country. Too bad for all of us. But, hats off to them anyway because I'm sure they made a lot of folks happy. Tom Finn - Original member, singer, writer, bass player of The Left Banke of "Walk Away Renee" fame
Tom Finn: I don't know if you are really Tom Finn or not. Let's face it, anybody can masquerade as anybody on the internet. No matter who you are, Walk Away Renee is great song. As for as 4Sknns, I found them on RUclips when looking for Walk Away Renee. Go figure. But I'm seriously diggin' these guys and wish I was out in their area in the 80s. Great band, and I agree that they seem to play effortlessly. Imagine what they could have become, had they had the ambition to do so. As far as being the best in their part of the country, there sure are a lot of bands like that. One that comes to mind is The Clarks out of the Pittsburgh area. They could have been huge, but they seem to have chosen to just be a regional act. And if you're in PA and surrounding states, then you know them and think they are one of the best bands. What I find absolutely amazing that somebody had made great video recordings of this band in the 80s, ones that found their way on to RUclips. Pretty damned cool group.
Well, Tom...here are some facts: We were formed by request for a club in KC in 1983 to compete with a Blues Jam at another club. The concept was to have a rock jam doing oldies. We planned on calling ourselves "Shirts & Skins" after the high school gym team names. We showed up for our first gig and the club owner had posters up for the 4 Sknns because he "thought it sounded funnier". We were all in other original bands at the time. This was for fun and money. We never intended or wanted to do original music. Why? THERE WAS AND STILL IS NO MONEY IN DOING ORIGINAL MUSIC IN KANSAS CITY. Or anywhere else, for that matter. I now live in Nashville. In the clubs the only thing that makes money are Tribute Bands. In the 60's and 70's it was different. Starting in the 80's those days were over, especially in small market cities. Joe "Guido" Welsh- Original Member, guitarist, keyboardist and vocalist of The 4 Sknns...a goddamn great cover band that made money and played off and on for THIRTY YEARS.
I wish I would have had the opportunity to see you guys live in the 80s. Every since I found this channel on RUclips, I frequently revisit it to listen to you guys. Awesome performances! -- mike
@@WeWereYoungandCrazy COOL I bet is was great to be there!!!! How many times? From what I can tell hey were primary local to KC. I would have been a regular
Excellent covers, no doubt. But if you want to hear the very best cover of “Just Walk Away Renee,” listen to the original singer/songwriter of the second song in this medley - Eric Carmen. His is the best version of the Left Bank’s haunting classic you’ll ever hear. And, by the way, Eric is also the best romantic singer/songwriter of a generation.
Really good playing, Guido. Nice 50's 'do as well. Guido: Humpback whale watching and real living...Las Galeras (Samaná península), Dominican Republic. (Best to leave before the societal collapse.) ❤
I had so much fun with this band at Parody Hall and I remember them playing Blaney"s. I still have not given up on going to see live music and bands like the 4sknns are one of the reasons I love live music.
I've been in the music biz since 1967 (when I was 15) .. This has always been one of my favorite songs to play and sing on stage or off stage. Fantastic job here .. Excellent "Bear"
I love the fact that Mike Brown and the other writers of the song began the lyrics with the word "And." I know they were teenagers, but it was inspired: the listener is walking into the middle of the singer's thoughts.
Lots of great comments about the vocals and lead cuts (and obviously deservedly so) but I'd like to note that the bass is ON POINT. Superb arrangements and the drum fills tastefully add in this regard. All cover bands should endeavor to be this faithfully creative.
I wish I could have seen these fellows every Tuesday. Everyone can sing well. Gary is one of the best I've ever heard. How did he play all those chord changes while singing- and not looking at his hands?
Outstanding performance!! Love both songs, and love the mashup. Kinda sad I can’t seem to find any of their music to buy. I’d love to hear more. You guys killed it!
