No way! My uncle has a 94 manual escort and I’ve thought about turning it into a project car for years now. That’s sick that someone’s doing builds with these old escorts
I had a 1994 escort GT 5 spd with N2o on it. I used a 1991 escort GT transmission due to it's gearing, milled the head, took the cams from a GT automatic wagon, kicked the intake cam forward a tooth, re-clocked the distributor, added a 10k rpm Mallory ignition system, 8mm msd wires with bosch platinum plugs, took out the variable intake butterflies, modified a 1989 escort GT exhaust manifold to fit a custom steel flange to fit the 94 head and took the chip and spring from the 1.8 vane/vaf meter and put it inside of a 2.2l probe turbo vane/vaf housing that had about 40% more cross sectional area to it. I then threw on a custom direct port N2O system. I used an Aeromotive A1000 for fuel delivery with a Mallory adjustable fuel regulator. 215/45 17’s put the power to the ground. It ran 12.20's in the quarter. This was back in 2002 when there were no tuning parts for these engines, and no stand alone systems for tuning like today.

Thanks, this started as a mild build. Just wanted a 300 hp 12.99 sec car. Went 12.00 so then I wanted 11.99, went 11.05, then I spent a year chasing 10.9 went 10.65 , took it apart to refresh it , found out it had 8 bent valves and had been floating the head, rebuilt it and it and made 100hp on the same boost so here we are lol.
Clicked on this one so fast! Mid 2000’s I had a 93 Mx3 with a 1.8 bpt swap from the original 1.8 v6. Put down 230whp at the time with mods. Fairly reliable engines and was definitely different amongst the sea of gsr’s, type r’s and civics that were all the rage at that time.

Love it. My daily back in the mid nineties was a white ‘88 Escort GT I acquired for $500. Super fun car to drive. Parts were cheap and it kept my fox body mustang out of the weather while I built the crap out of it. I always wanted to turbo the Escort but a las I moved onto a second gen Probe GT and nearly ended up turboing it - bought the kit but talked some sense into myself. Sold it and got into AWD euros. Many years later still have fox bodies and some pretty cool Audis… and in true form none of them are even remotely stock. The car bug bites hard.

Fun fact about the Ford Escort: me and a group of friends have an acting theory that the car driven by Father John Ward in the game Faith: The Unholy Trinity is an incredibly pixelated rendition of a 1986 Ford Escort. Originally, I thought it was an '86 mustang, because of how similarly the little details lined up. Tiny spoiler, triangular rear window, the B-Pillar placement, and the little tiny bump out for the front bumper. But that didn't make any sense because why would a former priest be driving a performance car in 1987? That's when we realized that the Escort from the same year has almost all the same details and makes a lot more sense for him to be driving. Just something I think of whenever I see an Escort.
I think your engine bay looks really, really nice :) (I had a Scalextric one of these... Two actually if I think about it... Modified them a lot... Ideal cars for modifications...)
I only learnt a few years ago the term jdm, In New Zealand all these "jdm" cars were just the normal cars we grew up with. Most of the world this is a Ford laser, fun fact the Mazda and Ford versions we got were nearly all 4x4 the fwd.
This and the Buick regal GS was my childhood cars. I think my dad bought like 3 or 4 of these, all were 5 speed manuals. I want one myself but I'll have better luck finding a Cossie than a fazda.

We had one in the family. Bought new in '94, taken care of, had it until around 2019. Rear shock towers rusting did it in. Great little car.
Edit: I wouldn't call this one a sleeper!
Tell ya boi with the escort he should probably do a nut and bolt check on the passenger seat and rails, every time you floored the gas that seat was a rockin'!
@@baltazard133T It's been some months since this was filmed, I've gone through the car, I think I was missing a bolt on the front left side. No one had ever rode in the car at this point and I think it was one of those, oh I don't have a bolt , I'll get one later kinda of deals , and I just forgot.
I never knew Will I am was so 😎
I put so many pop up sunroof's in those in the early 90s I can't even remember. The regular model
That's a cool build!
I love sleepers like that.
Having the car basically drive the first 60ft is why I like old school cars with no traction control.
AWD makes it perfect
If it had the cosworth front end I'd lose it
It's not AWD...
@@TTime685But if it was.....it would be perfect 😂
@@TTime685I’m confused because he said it had the MR2 transmission and alltrac drivetrain
Always been a fan of that styled escort.
Miata line didn't use the 1.8 till the mid 90's; the BP motor was around the early 90's
Awesome sleeper! I wanted a 94 escort gt bad after high school. Would have been my first new car but I got a 92 capri xr2. The turbo was more fun.
buzzy to see how much has changed since you did a feature on it when it was 400hp 4 years ago
I would totally drive this. But ahhh, Id paint the bumpers on mine. Great, great build.
I had a manual 96 escort. I actually miss that car. It 35mpg, and i never had an engine issue with it.
We r lucky coz wee had all the best Escorts frm cosworths to Rs turbos, so to see one of these tuned is a treat. 😎👊✌🇬🇧
I think your engine bay looks really, really nice :)
(I had a Scalextric one of these... Two actually if I think about it... Modified them a lot... Ideal cars for modifications...)
Yup, yup, yup
I only learnt a few years ago the term jdm, In New Zealand all these "jdm" cars were just the normal cars we grew up with. Most of the world this is a Ford laser, fun fact the Mazda and Ford versions we got were nearly all 4x4 the fwd.
This and the Buick regal GS was my childhood cars. I think my dad bought like 3 or 4 of these, all were 5 speed manuals.
I want one myself but I'll have better luck finding a Cossie than a fazda.
Space coast represent!!!!!
I have always loved escorts. Even had that model
Them 90s ford probe with 5 speed manual with v6 were very quick.
I had a 92 mazda protege with the 1.8bp. That thing was a ripper, and could take the abuse.
Good wheel choice 👌 I had the same rims on my rsx
