    I foolishly partitioned my first drive to separate the OS from my other files, however I left far to little space for the main partition as many programs prefer to be on the same one as the OS. I have needed to completely reinstall the OS to fix this partition issue, but had lost my key. You saved me, thanks again!

    Thank you - just needed to be prepared before changing CSM setting (which may require a reinstall?!) so a Windows 10 to 11 upgrade could be performed. This was a Windows 7 system originally, upgraded to 10, and ShowKeyPlus had all the information. Thanks!

    Thanks for sharing these tips on how to find Windows 10/11 product key!
    Based on my experience, I have reinstalled Windows 10 without the need to enter the product key again as long as I'm using the same edition of Windows 10 on the machine. Once it's online, it will reactivate itself without any issue. It's not tied with any Microsoft account, all of them are local accounts.

    • @TechsavvyProductions
      @TechsavvyProductions  2 года назад +1

      Patrick, you are correct. If you stay within the same OS edition and same exact hardware the key code will work. Your hardware hash key that is sent to the activation servers matches and it will activate.

    Great and helpful video. After following you along I got a windows key on almost all methods except the PowerShell one. Curiously enough I got three different keys.
    I am going to reinstall my son's desktop since I am upgrading its hardware (motherboard and cpu). I guess I will have to go trial and error until the "right" key activates windows reinstallation 😁
    I hope I don't get stuck since I am pretty sure I have a legit copy. I bought it myself with some of the parts when building up his PC a couple years ago (an OEM licence most probably).

    • @TechsavvyProductions
      @TechsavvyProductions  Год назад +4

      Awesome, love success! Some PCs have an OEM Windows key in their firmware and after an upgrade (Windows 10 to Windows 11) you now have digital lic key. My guess at least two will work.

    So if I used hotmail as a log in then I pretty much destroy the system if I ever want to resell it? My windows is telling me I don't have the license key yet it's still running, could it be because I used a different email?

    • @TechsavvyProductions
      @TechsavvyProductions  Год назад

      You can run Windows forever without a license key, you can not customize some features but it will work fine. Hotmail is fine, it is a Microsoft account.

    • @TechsavvyProductions

      I have experience this also, the method is not a 100% recovery. Due to the complex nature of KEYs and how they are activated.

  • @rickf2061

    Hi !
    for taking the time to post this well presented and informative video. the REGISTRY location (for the method) you demonstrated does not show the correct key. Although the key shown is in the correct format it is *not* the MAK volume license key entered into Windows. I confirmed this by going through the process to change my license (re-using the same MAK key that I used when I installed Windows). This ensured I know exactly what the key was that I used. When I checked the that REGISTRY location, the key shown there is not the same as what I just used a minute ago... So two QUESTIONS. (1) Although different, will using the key found in the registry be accepted during licensing process when doing a fresh re-install of Windows (same machine but brand new bigger hard drive). (2) OR is their a "formula" that can be used where you put in the numbers found in the REGISTRY which then gives you the actual MAK license I typed in originally ?

    • @TechsavvyProductions
      @TechsavvyProductions  8 месяцев назад

      very good questions, yes you can use the found key when reinstalling, if rejected call Microsoft Support and 99% of the time when you explain what you did they will give you a fresh key. The second question I will have to research a bit before I answer, I just am not sure.

    Thanks for the great video. I have another problem with a product key for a new Windows 11. I have a label with a product key, but when I was wiping away the scraper layer which is over a part of this key, I corrupted two characters from the code. These characters are not readable now. And I cannot find them. Edited later: Finally I find the correct Product Key code using brute force method - trying all combinations of these two missing characters. After about half an hour, I successfully found the code. Then I was able to activate the Windows. Moreover I found, that BackupProductKeyDefault in the registry is not the same, as I inserted. So it is probably some other backup code there.

    I've just reinstalled windows from scratch today after my new NVME ssd arrived and did the trick to skip the forced microsoft account login during the installation. After the installation finished my new from scratch windows 11 installation actually says that it is activated with digital license, without any login whatsoever. So my theory is it's okay to reinstall windows if you have a digital license as long as your device "signature" or whatever ID microsoft use to identify your machine as a whole stays mostly the same in the process.

    Hello
    I tried all four steps , with no success, I am thinking because Microsoft have done the dirty on us , by stopping anyone using a windows 7 key to activate a WIN 10 install , your advice maybe outdated now, I think a year ago your advice and methods to recover a key that works ( to activate Win 10 )would have been great , I maybe wrong, if you can advice further that would be fantastic.

    • @TechsavvyProductions

      When all else fails call Microsoft's activation phone number, they will almost always activate your copy of Windows. I have never heard of anyone calling for help with a missing or lost product key that they will not help. Explain what you did to recover your key and they will assist activating the new copy. It is true Win7 keys are no longer used to activate Win10, but the rest of the instructions will still work for most folks. Thanks for the comments and for watching our Channel!

    HI. thank you so much.
    I've tried all 3 methods ( showkeyplus, powershell, and screept) and i got 3 different keys....
    on my activation it says "windows is activated using your organization activation service"
    i got my comp from a freind of a freind and i dont have any clue about his history.
    i just want to reinstall windows 10 pro and start from scratch.
    will i be asked to type a key product if i reinstall, and if so, is one of the key product i found using your methods is the right one?
    thank you so much

    • @TechsavvyProductions

      It was already activated (sorry for the confusion of keys but that is common). It should be fine to reinstall, make sure if the PC came with Windows 10 Pro reinstall with Windows 10 Pro. During installation you will be prompted for a key, choose the option "I do not have a product key" and continue the installation. Download all your updates and check your activation. It has a good chance of automatically activating. If not try each key you have one by one. Thanks for reaching out!
