I love that magazine style battery cartridge. I could imagine being a kid with these would be so much fun even when off just taking that battery cart in and out imagining it was a pistol. I didn't even know about these consoles.

Fun thing you can do if you hold start before turning on the power you can set your name, birthday and blood type. At least that works with the color. Also pretty sure the crystal also has a ips screen now!

There actually is a screen kit for the Crystal. The screen on the Crystal was considered the "best" of the terrible wonderswan screens, so a lot of people tended to buy them for the "best" wonderswan experience prior to these backlight kits (I have heard some people complain the backlight kits have the 'wrong' refresh rate, but I am not quite sure about that). They have gotten expensive over the years because of it. I think a lot are hesitant to mod the Crystal because of that though, doubt it is very popular. I don't think there is any advantage over a backlit color.
Oh and the color kit has the screen available seperately (I know because I ruined one), but the color kit isn't glued together.
Oh and that Evangelion game got a translation. It is really cool, you play as Ryoji Kaji who is tasked with "raising" an angel. It is pretty much just a digimon raising game where you can explore NERV HQ and the surrounding town to view character events and gather items. Has some gimmicky battle system too, but it is really only there to fight your raised angels against other people using a link cable. No use in single player.

My SP keeps getting visual glitches and crashing while playing silver, but it has no trouble with my blue version nor emerald and silver plays well on my regular GBA. I have played silver for 50 hours now. Is this a memory issue or an issue with the GBA/GBC switch in the SP? Sometimes silver plays normally on the SP. Around 1 time out of 6 it plays well. Many of the glitches happen when an action is performed in silver such as waking into another area or building or pressing a button such as accessing the bag or pressing start/select.
Edit: tested it again and it glitches out when I even apply a bit of force on the cartridge

There's kits for the Crystal, and it works fine, and it's not too difficult if you're used to cutting GBA/GBC shells before Funnyplaying made IPS compatible ones, though I don't think it's worth modding them.
There's no unique games for the Crystal, and the shell needs to be irreversibly modified (and there's no replacement shells.... yet).
Plus if you factor in the cost, a Color costs ~$50, and the Crystal costs ~$200.
Any tips on replacing the power switch? I lost the internal spring under the plastic switch 😩

Wonder swan is cool handheld I've been wanting to get one but like you say games are way overpriced. would be interesting if you get a flash cart for it though

this is cool, i like that you mix things up. I'm a novice but how do you find a ground on a board? i was gonna try to fix my sn30 pro plus(it's the one with the paddles on the back)
It helps to know how PCBs and circuits are designed. Ground is often referred to as "common (ground)" because usually everything on the board is going to be referenced to the ground. EM shielding, power switch or port shielding, buttons, negative battery terminal, etc. If there isn't a clearly labeled point, you can usually make an educated guess based on negative battery terminals and copper fills or EM shields.
