Funny thing is in Europe you can get the GLC as a 6 cylinder - the 450d. 367 metric hp and is slightly quicker than this Amg, while achieving over 550 miles of range.
And to my fellow Americans, Diesel is still one of the most common engine types in Europe. The inline 6 (OM656) is very silent, linear and powerful.
Just like the bmw 30/40/50d series (B57)

Our daily driver is a 2018 GLC 300, which we bought new. It has proved to be a remarkable car, probably the best, most reliable all-rounder we have owned. It is also the smoothest SUV I have ever driven. It's engine at the time was 240 hp and it is plenty for that vehicle. I suppose if you feel the need for more power, the AMG is great, but it is still a SUV and other than impressing your friends, I really don’t see the point.

Somewhat controversial opinion alert from a longtime Mercedes enthusiast from a Mercedes family (My dad's first Mercedes was a 1998 C220, he now has an S580, and we had 2 ML's for most of middle and high school). My first car was a 10 year old Volvo, then had a 2013 Nissan Sentra, because the Volvo basically never wanted to car, learned driving manual on a B4 Audi A4 3.0, and have had a BMW 428i xDrive 2-dr and a (currently) drive a 2018 Audi S5 Sportback, but I'm shopping to return home to Mercedes.
Personally, I believe there is a new ranking of the Mercedes Benz hierarchy (I'm using the CLA as a base for this list because it's offered in all/most of the AMG line-up, but also adding the different trim designations for other comparable versions of other Mercedes vehicles, and comparing it to other German rivals)
    CLA 250/300/450 = Normal Mercedes = Audi A3 = BMW 230i
    CLA35 AMG = Mildly spicy normal car/appearance package in some cases = ~Audi s-line A3 or = to BMW m240i
CLA45/53 AMG = Spicy entry AMG, but not bespoke/extraordinary on the whole = Audi S3
AMG 63 (any variant) = the old AMG model/punching above its weight, a real German muscle car or performance weapon = RS Audi = Proper BMW M cars
