you forgot to mention every electric motor needs ATF/AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGED EACH ELECTRIC MOTOR HAS ITS OWN DRAIN/FILL THAT MEANS 1 OR 2 FILTERS NEEDING TO BE CHANGED WITH IT ALSO that means 2 if dual motor 1 if single.
I've had my new 2022 model 3 long range since 3-10. I've only had to refill the windshield fluid once. Other than that I'm never going back to buying a ICE car again.
After spending around 2 grand plus 600 in service fees in the past month i am saving for a EV. The shit that breaks and requires replacement every so often adds up over the course of 5 to 10 years.
I have a 2020 Model 3. In 4 years I have had 2 maintenance appoints totaling 89.00. I had my cabin air filters replaced and my brake fluid checked. Regenerative braking means I rarely use my brakes.
The 12V alert is not reliable. It'll show once, and only once 5 minutes before it dies for good. I'd suggest buying a spare and keeping it on the frunk or under the hood compartment. But it's ok we all learn from the first headache.
A have been driving Teslas for 5 years. No even a single service/maintainence during those years. But, the longest I have own one is 40 months. Let's see how my MYP holds up. :)
Hi Chris, I didn't know you were an Irvine resident. I was shocked when I saw where I live. (Portola) I hope we meet. I started to think about buying a tesla after your camping videos with Tesla.
I realized last time that during service addon as "please change filters" is not much different from what you are getting from tesla store and trying to figure out how to change it. Just add it to the bucket next service.
For Model Y performance the tires can’t be rotated because they’re staggered. Some people suggest moving them from side to side but I don’t see the point in that.
After market cabin air filters on my 2021 Y performance didn’t work to well against keeping out exhaust fumes out of the cabin. The design is poor because you can see the sunlight coming through the filter. I replaced it with the oem filter which works and keeps outside exhaust fumes from entering the car cabin.
You missed the drive units gear oil and filter. It's not in the model 3 (2021) user manual and Tesla service (Sterling Va.) didn't know the interval. I saw on utube 30k and 100k. I would think every 50k would do it or you can pay 3-6k to have it replaced at 120k miles.
Have you ever run into a problem where your Tesla's LTE or Wi-Fi does not automatically work when you enter the car? I've had this happen several times and the only way to fix it for me was to just drive for a few miles and it'll eventually connect to LTE.
What about the motor oil? Tesla says you never need to replace it but I’ve seen videos on RUclips where they say you need to replace it at around 40k miles? And if you have a duel motor you need to do it for both motors
When a Tesla is beyond a extended warranty, how much $$$ too change a battery pack or replace one of the multiple electric motors most Tesla have? I usually drive my Honda Civics beyond 300,000 miles, currently have a Ford Maverick Hybrid.
Those shouldn't be needed unless you are getting uneven tire wear, which you can check yourself or have a shop check for you when you do your tire rotations.
Off topic, but something I haven't heard you address is wi-fi connection. I park my M3 in the garage with a strong wi-fi signal and every time I drive away and return, it doesn't automatically reconnect. Each time Tesla sends an update I have to select my network and type in my router extender password. Kind of frustrating. How do I get the M3 to retain my password?
This could be because you don't actually have as strong of a signal as you think, or because your extender is limiting access automatically for security reasons. There are a few other reasons this could be happening as well, but I would recommend starting by checking those two things first. Also, what I mean by as strong of a signal as you think, if your extender is getting a weak or poor connection to your main router or access point then all you are doing is amplifying that weak signal.
It doesn't make sense to mention costs because it can vary wildly from one shop to another. A lot of this stuff can be done by any shop that is properly equipped. For example, a shop near me does tire rotations for 15 dollars and alignments for 60 dollars. As far as brakes go, I haven't had to do it at all after 50k miles.
I never thought it did until people started asking me the serving list. I was like there is none, but found I sounded silly. After 85 k kms in a year. I need to learn to do this shit myself lollll. So far so good tho.
@@EverydayChris what’s up bro I watch your videos all the time I can’t wait to be able to get a tesla , I just started a job at the Gia factory in Austin
I believe it has an initial check that is required somewhere between 5,000 and 12,000 miles, but after that it is good for the rest of the drive unit's life. That first initial check is likely to get rid of any contaminates from the drive unit being new.
😂 tesla dam high maintenance, dam cost more than gas car 1. tesla need clean brake maintenance every year 2. 4x tires burn so fast 3. need gears oil change and filter too 4. Need service coolant too

It's just a Habit. How? Press Lock and Unlock on fob at the same time for 2-4 seconds. This should turn honk off. Ask you dealer if needed as some vehicles may be different. Thanks.
Lease isn't always the best option for everyone. Sure, you have a lower monthly payment, but then you are also constantly making payments. And in the case of Tesla, you can't keep the car after a lease, you HAVE to return the vehicle to them. Personally, I was able to get a good rate on my loan with a decently low monthly payment of 550 dollars a month.
10 YEARS car maintenance comparison. Gas car: 5k on Average. Electric car: 10k + (depending of your model, as the battery will die or charge / autonomy will go down in most cases, so you will need to replace it). Than add 2x for car buy cost and fast charge cost, Think about it. Electric is not cheap as they made it look like 10 years ago when they needed to attract people into it :D
My electric rate during the night is 6 cents per kWh, and I drive around 50 miles a day. In a Tesla Model 3 long range, I charge my car overnight for less than 2 dollars a night. I do basically no maintenance at all except tire rotations as recommended in the manual, washer fluid, and inspections on other components. This costs me less than 100 dollars every year. In contrast, my previous car, a 2021 Acura RDX which was mostly driven in the city with 21mpg, would cost me 50 dollars a week to fill up. And every six months or sometimes sooner I would need to go in for service which often cost me over 100 dollars. All in all, in a year, I easily save thousands with my Model 3. And this isn't to say that will be the case for everyone, but for me, it has been fantastic and a game changer.
feel sorry for electric car drivers and future owners. They will simply have to learn the hard way .. as I did. These things are a huge hassle, all those lost hours sitting in those charging stations, huge anxiety, plus a outrageous expense in the long run. Good luck trying to sell a used Electric car with wore out battery modules. You'll find out nobody wants to pay the ridiculous price of batteries ... Batteries are very ... very expensive to replace ( thousands and thousands of dollars) ... and make no mistake, you will be replacing them. These batteries are highly toxic to our environment, with a high potential for disaster to our surroundings. DON'T FOOL YOURSELF and CERTAINLY, DON'T LISTEN TO A SALESMAN , ... LITHIUM BATTERIES ARE NOT GREEN CLEAN ENERGY BY ANY MEANS! ... I wish I knew all this before I bought my car . Do your homework before buying !

I wish they have an instrument panel for all the maintenance that needs to be done.
Had my model 3 since 2018. I set of tires, and just had the 12 volt battery replaced and brakes cleaned. So much better than ice crap cars.

What washer fluid do you recommend?
For Model Y performance the tires can’t be rotated because they’re staggered. Some people suggest moving them from side to side but I don’t see the point in that.

What about the motor oil? Tesla says you never need to replace it but I’ve seen videos on RUclips where they say you need to replace it at around 40k miles? And if you have a duel motor you need to do it for both motors
Motor Oil? It's an Electric Car. Electric Motors don't use Oil. I know, my E bike doesn't take any Fluids other than the Hydraulic Brakes
The Drivetrain in a Tesla uses a Gear Oil. However so does every other car and I have never heard of someone having to change their Gear Oil.

so I did some research around 10-15k for a whole battery replacement =X
Hey!! Can you do a mini tutorial on the windshield washer? Any recommendations you use on it? Thanks!!
for some teslas, like the S and X we can't tire rotate :///
So you would just need to replace the tires? I am surprised S and X can’t tire rotate.
You should be able to cross rotate! Decreases wear still

A clean air filter should pass light through. Are you saying that light is visible around the edges of the cabin filter?

bring it to COSTCO ...IT IS only 25 bucks..u dont need to take it to tesla to do it

Exactly
Man, how much to change the brakes.
How much to alternate tires with a wheel alignment.
