Last night I ordered my first ever new car from Tesla, Model Y AWD. I have always settled and bought used cars my entire life, now I am going to get what I want. :) Not much out there can beat the 1.99% financing Tesla offers, so I pulled the trigger. Looks like about 10 days before I can go and get it, the anticipation is killing me. I have a detached garage about 75' away from my house electric service and I will need to trench and bury a line and install a breaker for the level 2 charger. So at least that will keep me busy until I get my new wheels.
Recently bought a used 64k miles 2022 M3 LR (with FSD!) for $23K out the door (after tax credit, taxes and fees). My first EV. Right now used is definitely the way to go for those trying to get into an EV.
I actually discovered the same thing in May/June and was able to purchase my First Tesla, a 2021 Model 3 with 26k miles on it. It was $24900 which after the tax credit was $20900. I love this car more than any other car I have drove. I used to private drive some business people in 100k+ cars and while those have some very unique luxury features, the drive and experience isn't as nice as this Tesla, I love the minimalism of the design, while friends who have seen it say they want more buttons. Usually after they take a ride or two they change their mind on that opinion.
Got my used 2022 tesla model 3 for around 20k after the tax credit! We were shopping for cars and it was either a new SUV for 30k+ or a used car like a 2021 volkwagon golf for 19k. There was very little inventory. I got fed up and took the risk on a used tesla. So far it has been a really great decision!!
Those examples are really good deals. I bought a 2017 Tesla Model S 75D (lots of options) with 75k miles back in Feb, just snuck under the tax credit. At the time, the M3’s that qualified were base 2018’s with 80k+. Similar 2020 or 2021 M3s were still $30-35K. That’s a huge drop in just a few months.
Is it really growing for legacy OEM? They just ship to dealers and record them as sales. Meanwhile every dealership nearby is having issues moving units and you'll see so many on lots. See new Tesla's on the road daily now.
As a person that does Uber, if you really think Tesla owners would let Tesla use their car for a taxi. Most will not do so. If they can get working which it's an if they will be surprised with the commercial insurance and Tesla cut of all the trip, the owner would get much of nothing on these trip. Plus with the damage and the mess that passenger will leave there is no real reason to buy a Tesla for this. 6:29
I pay $220 full coverage on a 2022 Model 3, I bought recently and added my older pickup with liability for the same price as multiple....I did the math and was spending $450 on gas monthly and $90 liability insurance on my truck....so now I am spending less than $220 for both cars insured and my monthly electric bill about $55....I bought my Tesla for $20,500 added the $4000 tax instanycredit and my Tesla was paid cash $16,500 plus tax.....only worked out because of the price
Don't forget that the $4000 tax credit for EVs has an income cap significantly lower than the $7500 credit available on new cars. For individual filers, your income cannot exceed $75k while married folks can have an income up to $150k. This is in contrast to the limits of $150k and $300k respectively for the $7500 credit.
@@NikeshAmin true. We didn’t qualify for the $4000 credit, but were fortunate to even buy a newer used car. Still got a great deal, direct from Tesla with an included extended warranty without sitting at a used car dealer for 2+ hours.

The fact that there are so many model 3's clustered at just a few hundred dollars over $25k (in CA at least!) is clear proof that Tesla is deliberately excluding these from the tax credit. They could easily sacrifice a couple of hundred dollars in order to give their customer this huge percentage benefit. They must be trying to prevent the used market from impacting their new sales (maybe during this current slow-down that is hitting their margins and stock price)
Currently in negotiations to get a 2018 M3 long range. $18k, -$6k for my trade in, -$4k for federal tax credit, putting $4k down so $4k for a car that runs like new

Hi Ryan, in Vancouver BC Canada, the Fiat $500e BEV is $35,000 CND less $9,000 in provincial and federal rebates. While its range is lower, thats a great deal for an affordable EV....
30+% of Tesla's were sold in California. So a new model 3 with federal and state tax credits cost $30,000 new. So $25k for a used one is unbelievably high priced. That doesn't sound like high depreciation to me.
The government has subsidized the depreciation. Vehicles are still sold on a national market so you're not going to have a discount just because the consumer paid less out of pocket in California.

Yeah I have to agree with Uber CEO. The thing about full autonomous ride share vehicles especially teslas idea is that they aren’t thinking about psychological reinforcement. Idk if you can remember but laundry detergent used to be powder form. The only reason they changed to liquid is because liquid doesn’t clump in the water like the powder did. So it psychologically reinforced that people didn’t have to stir the water to make sure the detergent was in there like the powder. Tesla has to do the same with their cars. People will resist the idea of riding in the cars because there’s no “safety” or “control” reinforcement.
I was wondering when the used Teslas would decrease in price. I'm looking forward to seeing a bigger decrease in another year or so. Great video. Good job.
Why would you guys buy used and think it’s a good deal when new has 7500 off + state $$ off + 1.99% apr, it’s a far better deal not to mention you get a new car / battery…and hw4 which by now is obvious significantly better to support the latest fsd. Even if you don’t use fsd now, in 2 years when it’s usable you would have the hw to leverage it….it just makes no sense to buy used Tesla when new has such good deals
Because FSD will never be usable. That's why depreciation is so high, also some range falls off with age/miles. The new car has very little value in comparison.
I really want one I’d be financing it 2nd hand but all I worry about is that something like the battery goes wrong or the motor and it would be so expensive to fix…. But I really want an electric ev and a tesla after test driving a model y.

Waymo runs into problems with Level 4, just the other day a Waymo was caught on video here driving down the wrong side of the street, and they've partnered with Uber recently which gives them access to significantly more customers. Tesla's not even in their league, they're running Level 2, don't have a vehicle yet and have no customers.
Meanwhile in Canada on Tesla's website: a grand total of 4 used Tesla M3s available! Minimum starting at $49,500. LOL I don't think we are getting 20kCAD EVs even as used here unless we finally lift that Chinese EV ban for some proper competition. 🤞
The biggest challenge is that Tesla usually prices their used cars more than the same car from 3rd party dealers but it's very cumbersome to figure out which dealer can take the 4k used car credit
Paying about 3-5 k more from Tesla gives you an extra 12 month warranty. If your buying one with an expired warranty for under 25k the 12 month warranty might be worth it.
Car got totaled on the 7th. I’m thinking about the Mach e 0% apr for 72 months . Or a used model 3 , since they going for 25-30k. If I get a new Tesla it’ll be 1.99% but they will be worth $30,000 in two years . Not that I would sell it but if I got my car totaled again I’d be upside down.
I pulled the trigger and took delivery last Saturday. Took advantage of the new WA state incentive. I plan to keep the car a long time so I dont mind if i ended up overpaying by 1-2k (depending on how good incentives get). I wanted the model 3 I don’t imagine incentives getting that much better for it compared to the Y
They always dangle that low price carrot out for a new vehicle then significantly increase the price. I would by a used one before thinking of jumping into a new one.
I own an ID4, 2 Teslas and an F150 Lightning, and a Cadillac Lyriq. I use these cars on Turo. If you were going to be driving around town and charging at home, the ID4 is just fine. However, its range is limited for road trips, at least out west. The Tesla user interface is simpler, and the charging is also simpler. However, there is the Elon factor, and I probably cannot bring myself to buy more Teslas, at least new ones from Mr. Musk for my business.
One thing that seems odd is, when you go to the Tesla website and look at the used cars, they say it has the tax credit, but when you click on the actual listing for the cars several of them will say they no longer meet the requirements for the tax credit.. There needs to be some better way of knowing if you will or will not get the credit when buying electric vehicles. I have heard a lot of stories of people being told by a dealer that they would get the $4000, but they didnt.

Before buying any used modern used car, especially one with FSD, ask yourself if you are ok with buying an x year old pc or laptop. To my knowledge, none of the car manufactures currently have a reasonably priced way to update the old computer brain of modern used cars.

If all cars were "self driving" vehicle deaths and injuries would go way down to the point of being statistically insignificant. The NACS port shown is on the rear passenger side of the Rivian, the opposite of Tesla. If they move the port to the rear driver's side Rivian drivers will be able to seamlessly charge at Superchager stations while backing in as Teslas do. If Rivian moves the port to the driver side front that is a non starter. A Rivian driver would have to pull in forward into the space to the right of the one a Tesla would use, effectively taking up two stations.
I have bought model 3 2021 from Tesla for $25K minus 4K tax credit . Tax credit can be applied of the used car only once. The reason why people do not see mention tax credit on 25K cars because usually there is none. Hopefully this helps.
Last year I got my new Model Y. Initially for few months my range was coming upto 329/330 (7 seater). Then later Tesla announced their modified range for Model Y and from then on my Model Y range fell to 308 miles (on 100% charge). Now when I am seeing these used Teslas I am surprised to see the range as 326 or 330 miles. How this is possible. Do you mind sharing how much range you would get on 100% charge.
When I was in New York, I rode around in Revel Teslas instead of using Uber. If Tesla doesn't want to partner with Uver, maybe Revel would be a better fit (or just buy the company)
Same here in Texas! This state runs on oil and gas! No need to give out incentives to vehicles not using it! Tack it onto their registration, punish them for it! Yeah! YEAH!
I'm not likely to buy a Tesla unless it's an older Model S or X with more traditional line of sight dashboards and door controls. We are Mach-E owners and looking to add another non-Tesla EV. All that said, your coverage of the EV market in general is excellent. Subscribed.
I thought I would miss a gage cluster but honestly right now I don’t. New model 3 since last saturday. Of course I can’t tell you how to spend your money but for me it’s the only ev I considered since you don’t pay extra for “options” unless you want more range or different drivetrain. Specing out a mach e or Hyundai ionic made them pricier than a similar Tesla counterpart
@@jay.rsingh2530 There are lots of options that cost more if you want a Tesla. If you want any color other than Stealth Grey, it costs more, different wheels cost more, the white interior costs more, console tray costs more, interior mats cost more, a roof rack costs more, of course the Full Self Driving costs $8000 more. Our Mach-E came with BlueCriuse included in the price for 3 years, while it's not as autonomous as Tesla FSD, it's really nice when you're on the freeway. Our Mach-E is a 2023 Premium AWD with package 300A that we leased in June of 24 that had a $3000 dealer discount and a $10,500 lease bonus from Ford. Total capital costs on the lease with all taxes and fees included was $37K, and we will probably buy it out and the end, buyout is $18K. It was absolutely much less expensive than ordering a Model 3 or Y would have been, plus the build quality is better, no huge panel gaps or rattles in the interior. The brand new Model Y we test drove had a lot of rattles on a rough road, and I didn't care for the unconventional controls. But the bottom line was price, and it's hard to beat what the other manufacturers are offering in the way of incentives. I'm now looking at an ID.4 lease to replace my other car and they're offering me $299/mo lease on a car that stickers for almost $50K, and this is for a 2024 model. Tesla's not going to beat that either.
The word “heralded” is pronounced HAIR-ul-did, not her-ALD-did. Secondly, “2x” which you pronounced two-ex is actually two-times. Two-ex sounds like you’re doing algebra and solving for x. Two times is better, “twice” or “double” is better.
R.e. CT; I have posted that Adam Jonas' (Morgan Stanley automotive analyst) prediction of annual average sales of 50,000 units for CT is underestimating interest by the public by a lot.
Tesla also dropped their model Y seven seater option from 3K to 1K, and they also got rid of enhanced auto pilot just leaving FSD as the only option
The biggest challenge is that Tesla usually prices their used cars more than the same car from 3rd party dealers but it's very cumbersome to figure out which dealer can take the 4k used car credit
@@EatonZ26 unlike other car dealers though, the price is the price when you buy from Tesla.
Paying about 3-5 k more from Tesla gives you an extra 12 month warranty. If your buying one with an expired warranty for under 25k the 12 month warranty might be worth it.
Nope, not a great deal. Hertz Car Sales Tesla are a great deal. lol, 2022 models for under $17k with incentive!
Data is so confusing. I just saw a video that showed BMW had outsold Tesla in June or July, being the #1 EV seller.
You don’t get much body injuries at the slow speed that waymo cars drive
Car got totaled on the 7th. I’m thinking about the Mach e 0% apr for 72 months .
Or a used model 3 , since they going for 25-30k. If I get a new Tesla it’ll be 1.99% but they will be worth $30,000 in two years . Not that I would sell it but if I got my car totaled again I’d be upside down.
That happens when you finance any car and they total it
Gap insurance.?
Elon can make rockets land on a drone ship and you question his ability to write software better than Uber's? LMFAO
Just picked up my 2024 M3 Long Range!! 1.99 was just too tempting to pass up lmao
Did they apply the $7500 credit at pickup?
Same! 300 miles since last Saturday love it so far!
Where can I get a Tesla for 20k or less
I see many EVs on road - way more than I expected to this quickly
Didn't a Waymo vehicle kill a bicycle rider years ago in Tempe, Arizona?
i dont see 20k tesla anywhere on website lol. they're all 40k +
Waymo should look into the incidents that happened in Arizona
might as well continue to wait for prices to drop more and more
I pulled the trigger and took delivery last Saturday. Took advantage of the new WA state incentive. I plan to keep the car a long time so I dont mind if i ended up overpaying by 1-2k (depending on how good incentives get). I wanted the model 3 I don’t imagine incentives getting that much better for it compared to the Y
RUclipsrs should be required to mention income limits every time they say credit.
Are we going to get discounts on model s?
They always dangle that low price carrot out for a new vehicle then significantly increase the price. I would by a used one before thinking of jumping into a new one.

$18,400 After Tax Credit
The issue is how expensive EVS are. They’re practically impossible to get one unless you earn a good amount of money. Most EV’s are around 50-60k+
You can get a used mach e or id4 for less than a model 3. Would you guys get one of those?
What about when they hit the EVs with the milage tax
Some states, like mine, already charge extra for EVs, PHEVs and hybrids.
Yes buy buy buy

Someone (Uber) arguing that Tesla won't be capable of executing a software/app business is a fool (or high on copium).
Tesla's software teams have always been far ahead of the curve, and there wopuld be no shortage of skilled developers champing at the bit to get in IF they needed new skillsets.
How is this possible?
Before buying any used modern used car, especially one with FSD, ask yourself if you are ok with buying an x year old pc or laptop. To my knowledge, none of the car manufactures currently have a reasonably priced way to update the old computer brain of modern used cars.
This is an underrated comment. No one thinks of this. Software updates can’t upgrade the hardware
80% of US residents cannot use that tax credit so do not look into tax credit.
I will NEVER EVER buy an EV unless I’m forced by regulations !! 😎
You're a fool then 😂
@@LucienVanguard 🤦🏻♂️ I get charging Anxiety 🤷🏻♂️ I live in an apt in NYC so I won’t be able to charge it overnight…I can’t stand taking an hour to fill up my tank. 😁
What CC do you recommend for EV charging?
The robotaxi will absolutely destroy Uber…
No it won't. FSD is and always has-been vaporware, don't lie to yourself. The company has much better things going for it.
Look at Google they got a good self driving car right now I've seen them in Phoenix Arizona
Ev's are slowing down big time actually
If all cars were "self driving" vehicle deaths and injuries would go way down to the point of being statistically insignificant. The NACS port shown is on the rear passenger side of the Rivian, the opposite of Tesla. If they move the port to the rear driver's side Rivian drivers will be able to seamlessly charge at Superchager stations while backing in as Teslas do. If Rivian moves the port to the driver side front that is a non starter. A Rivian driver would have to pull in forward into the space to the right of the one a Tesla would use, effectively taking up two stations.
Why am I thinking they purposely priced the used ones over the 25k mark so they don't qualify for the used tax credit
Yeah it seems like that is what they did. It was frustrating. I went with a dealership.
Just received my Cybertruck with Core wheels and gray interior. I thing the tires and interior looks great! Thanks for the informative video.
The aren't allowing the $7500 credit now.
Really? I just took delivery last Saturday and had it applied at the time of purchase.
I bought one yesterday and got the credit.
Just picked a 3 up 2 days ago. 7500 credit was applied.
They are cheaper only because China is coming in with competitive prices plus EVs worldwide are out selling ice cars
When I was in New York, I rode around in Revel Teslas instead of using Uber. If Tesla doesn't want to partner with Uver, maybe Revel would be a better fit (or just buy the company)
Do anybody know if those ev electric car are at local dealership
/me laughs in Indiana. Only extra incentive I get is $221 added to my registration fee.
Same here in Texas! This state runs on oil and gas! No need to give out incentives to vehicles not using it! Tack it onto their registration, punish them for it! Yeah! YEAH!
lol this is false EV market is getting crushed. Some massive bias going on here
Update 20kf or 4 year used car
Thus guy loves tesla 😂
Still too expensive
The word “heralded” is pronounced HAIR-ul-did, not her-ALD-did. Secondly, “2x” which you pronounced two-ex is actually two-times. Two-ex sounds like you’re doing algebra and solving for x. Two times is better, “twice” or “double” is better.
Deal of the day: Tesla is FREE.
Can you please lose the red border around your videos RUclips has the same red border after you watched a video I can’t tell if it’s new or I watched
Growth shouldn’t be slowing at 3% market saturation so there is that
My next car is going to be a Tesla. It’s probably not gonna be for a few years though.
Who’s gonna tell him
Thanks, Ryan!
R.e. CT; I have posted that Adam Jonas' (Morgan Stanley automotive analyst) prediction of annual average sales of 50,000 units for CT is underestimating interest by the public by a lot. However, I must admit that the person that can make Jonas' prediction come true is Elon. If Tesla cannot produce a CT trim for at least $20,000 less than they sell for now, Elon will prove Jonas correct. I sincerely hope that Jonas will be eating crow NLT 2025.
Beware of Tesla used cars, lots of dents and dings and scratches you won’t see on other dealer lots and u can’t see the car before u spend money. Tesla warranty doesn’t cover any of that stuff either. Buy after u see it if used or buy new from Tesla.
How about people who make under $50000 get a $6000 tax tax credit... So few would buy them if they didn't have tax credits.
